This Song Sucks Episode 7

"Louie Louie" by The Kingsmen

Special guest host Jamie Sego joins Josh and Hayden for a trip in the way-way-back machine to the early 1960s with a breakdown of the over-recorded rock hit “Louie Louie” by the Kingsmen. Josh gives a short history of the original Richard Berry version before he and Jamie dig into the famously slapdash recording session that produced the somehow-enduring version recorded by the Kingsmen.

Josh really hates the guitar solo, Hayden wonders what the fuck the drummer was up to, and Jamie loves the fact that this song started to become popular on the national level only after it was featured as the “Worst Record of the Week” on a Boston radio station. Hayden manages – yet again- to steer the conversation towards hamburgers.
