Hey y'all! I'm baaaacccckkkkk! Did you miss me? You know you did. More importantly, I missed you! And missed talking about my favorite thing....SPORTS! Life tried to kick me while I was praying feverishly to have a negative COVID test by having our central air unit die. Like dead, kaput, Aaron Hernandez gone forever (too soon? Nah). But it's ok, because it's now fixed, we made it to New Orleans, endured a few of Pat O's hurricanes, a shark attack from Tropical Isle and enough beer to make sure we weren't dehydrated and ready for whatever happened. Now let's talk sports...
COCO! Don't call her Coco, call her the newest US OPEN CHAMPION!!!!!!!! If you missed Episode 6, I predicted that she would win as would Novak Djokovic. Well, they did, so just call me the Swami of the 2023 US Open. LOL, not really, but I mean it's cool if you want to. It was her time. It is her time. She is bringing American Women's Tennis back and making Billie Jean King and all of her predecessors incredibly proud. I'm excited to see the work she does as she moves forward in her very young career.
College football. What can I say? Well, a lot apparently because I was hoping to keep this short but it wasn't. I cover where I was right in my preseason picks (thank you Texas and FSU!), where I was wrong (looking at you Clemson), and where I owe an apology (Deion, I promise to apologize and never doubt you again!). Not sure what else to write because well, I think I said it all on the podcast so go listen!
Next I tackle the NFL. I think my biggest takeaway from the first week is that it's the NFL and in all honesty, we won't really know about who's real and who's not until mid-October. What I do know is that my Giants looked atrocious and there is no need to hit the panic button on KC and Buffalo. But I'm pretty sure Zach Wilson was about ready to hit that panic button when A-a-ron went down.
Finally, I wrap up the episode with some of the bullsh*t behavior I've seen from fans just after 2 weeks in college football. It's got to change and fast or else the game will no longer be able to be called a game, it will be work and work is not fun. (Sorry Coach Boone, football is supposed to be fun, not zero fun sir).
