How It Ends by Rachel Howzell Hall
3.25/5 stars
This was my first audiobook and an Audible original. Being a novella, it only took around two hours to get through: perfect to listen to while I was preparing for the day or scrapbooking in the evenings.
I am not a fan of spoilers in book reviews, so I will be quite vague about the plot!
Our main character is a female going through a divorce, trying to pick up and start over with her life. While trying to do this, she notices odd things happening to her at the new house she lives in...alone. Once things start crashing down around her, she is left wondering who is at the root of all of this. Her now ex-husband? Her creepy neighbor? A terrifying stranger? All of these questions are at the forefront of her mind as she grapples with what to do to survive and overcome.
Overall, I think this was a great introduction to audiobooks for me. It was a bit out of my comfort zone considering that I am not used to books being this fast-paced and resolute. However, I recommend this novella for thriller lovers with short attention spans or people who need a book to get going quite quickly!
The only drawback of this novella is that it is only available on Audible, so just a heads up about that!

-Not In Love by Ali Hazelwood - I love this author and was so excited when this was recently published. I just started it today while on the way to Birmingham for my check-up and I am already over 100 pages in. Such a good read so far! Just your classic forbidden workplace romance with lots of banter and of course, in true Hazelwood fashion, a female main character involved in STEM and a plotline heavily focused on math and science. In this case, it's engineering and details of increasing the shelf life of produce. I have enjoyed expanding my knowledge on topics like this as well as getting my fill of cheesy romance. I expect this book to get even better!
-Play Along by Liz Tomforde - This is another "cheesy" romance that also involves forbidden romance in the workplace. It was not my intention to have both books giving off such similar vibes, but in this case, it does not feel overdone or repetitive at all. This book is about a baseball player and athletic trainer. This book rides the line of one-sided enemies to lovers so far. The banter in this is also immaculate and I am genuinely having fun reading this.
