Deep into the season, and the writers try to straighten the ship or head right for the shore.

Sheriff Andy Taylor once said, “You know, when you’re young, you think you will always be. As you become more fragile, you reflect, and you realize how much comfort can come from the past.”

Red River Shootout: Oklahoma vs Texas (OVER: 44.5) - I can’t recall these games ever being that low scoring. My memory is bad, though.

Arkansas at Tennessee (-10.5) - The Volunteers have the better team. They’re at home. Arkansas doesn’t even know if it’s Bobby Petrino or someone else going forward.

Florida at Texas A&M (-7.5)  - I do not think the Gators have it in them against the Aggies in College Station. Tough crowd, tough environment, tough game.

NFL Game of the Week
49ers (+3) at Buccaneers - In Mac I trust (again).

TD Wood
Finally! Just like that I’m in first place, too! I wish I was doing so well in our pick ‘em groups. This is a really good schedule this week and it should make for some excellent viewing.

Red River Shootout: Oklahoma vs Texas (Under 44.5) – It’ll always be the ‘Shootout’ to real fans. It’s always a risky proposition to bet on this one, given its chaotic nature. That’s why I’m looking at the total as opposed to the spread. Given how poor the Texas offense has looked, and the questions around the availability and health of Oklahoma QB John Mateer, I like these two solid defenses to keep the scoring low. This will be a slugfest.

Air Force at UNLV (-7) – Man, the Air Force defense couldn’t stop a pee-wee team at this point. UNLV’s offense isn’t among Dan Mullins’ best ever, but it’s scoring at a solid clip and is certainly good enough to light up the scoreboard at home against one of the country’s worst defenses.

Michigan at USC (-2.5) – A bit of a must win for the Trojans, I like their defense to slow down the Michigan offense. The real show will be the USC offense against the Wolverine D. I like the home team to win by about a touchdown or so.

NFL Game of the Week
Bills (-4.5) at Falcons – Good bounce back spot for Buffalo, here. The Falcons are frisky, but I think Josh Allen and company put it away late on the road.

Mallory McCormack
Whew. Tough week for me. But I feel a bounce back, just like my Giants did last night! (Let’s go Skatt & Dart!!!) I’m intrigued by a few games this week so let’s see if my spidey senses are on point (also a Giants reference because duh).

Red River Shootout: Oklahoma vs Texas (UNDER: 44.5) - I think OU is playing mind games about Mateer. If they’re not then I expect medical journals to be writing about his miraculous healing abilities for a long time. And that Texas offense, well, take the under.

Arkansas at Tennessee (-12.5) - I get what Petrino is doing, but I’ll be honest, his offense hasn’t looked great all year (except against Ole Miss, but hey, we still won). Neyland will be rocking.

Florida at Texas A&M (-7.5) - Remember that winning streak Florida went on last year to save Napier’s job? Yeah I don’t think that happens again this weekend. I know I said that last week against Texas but this game is at Kyle Field. Even though their fans are strange (aka cult like) they’re loud.

NFL Game of the Week
49ers at Buccaneers (-3) - I think San Francisco is just too banged up at this point to really have the fire power to keep this game within a field goal.

Greg Bosworth
Oh wow .500 felt almost like a win last weekend, and now I shoot for the moon 😂😂

Red River Shootout: Oklahoma (-1) vs Texas - Records and how you are playing coming into this game go out the window all the time in this rivalry game. However, my guy John Mateer is back, and if he can play to the level he was before his injury Sooners will be victorious in the legendary Cotton Bowl. OU’s defense has been elite and right now I have no faith in Arch and the below average Longhorns offense.

Nebraska at Maryland (+6.5) - Both teams are trying to stay away from their second Big Ten loss of the season. It’ll be interesting to see how the Terps bounce back after that tough loss a week ago against Washington. This is Nebraska’s first official road game and if they do win, like most of their games this time of year, it will be close.

Indiana at Oregon (-7) - This is the type of game that could change the thought about the Hoosiers. However, going into Autzen is different and until they actually beat a big dog I believe the Ducks not only win but cover. Their defense is elite and Dante Moore is special.

NFL Game of the Week
Lions at Chiefs (OVER: 53) - Should be a fun, high-scoring one on Sunday night. Fifty-four points seems almost as guaranteed as death and taxes. I do find it curious that the Lions are an underdog based on how KC has looked, even at home.

Note: All games are against the spread. Odds are taken from MGM Grand Sportsbook.
