The writers are starting to spin, but they can turn into the skid and make something of it this college football season. Coaches fired, teams bounced, and our bettors tried again for Week Eleven.

You know when you’re in the bar and Bob Seger’s “We’ve Got Tonight” starts playing, the house lights come on, and you haven’t found someone to take home yet? That’s what this week feels like.
Georgia (-9) at Mississippi State - It feels almost too obvious, but surely the Dawgs have enough to beat, well, the other Dawgs. State has two wins that would be considered good: Arizona State and Arkansas. The rest are dismal.
Texas A&M (-7) at Missouri - I don’t like it, and neither do you, but the Aggies are playing peak football. They’re hot and I’m betting that this isn’t the week that they cool. Missouri will give them a game, but A&M runs away in the fourth.
Kansas at Arizona (-5.5) - Neither of these teams are looking for playoffs, but Arizona is coming off a good win at Colorado. Their three losses have been respectable and to respectable teams. I like the Cats at home.
NFL Game of the Week
Giants at Bears (-4.5) - The Bears aren’t great, but Giants may be less so. I’ll take the Bears in this one for a touchdown win late in the game.
TD Wood
Just that kind of season for me, I reckon. All I know is if YouTube and Disney don’t figure this mess out, they may have rioters at their headquarters come Monday.
SMU (-10.5) at Boston College – With their win over Miami, the Mustangs are right back in the ACC race. Maybe in another season, this would be a trap for SMU – they just got the big win, and their next game is another huge conference clash against Louisville – but they have a perfectly timed bye next week, allowing them to focus on putting away a bad BC team.
Oregon at Iowa (+6.5) – You know, Oregon, you’re not an official member of the Big Ten until your dreams are dashed in Iowa City. The Hawkeyes are hot, and they’re gonna make this one a fight. I’m not entirely sold on the Ducks being an elite team this season.
Georgia State at Coastal Carolina (-7.5) – If the Chanticleers take care of business this weekend and then again next weekend against Georgia Southern, they’ll play James Madison in the regular season finale with a shot to go to the Sun Belt title game. The Panthers’ only win this season was over FCS Murray State, and I like Coastal to keep them waiting for that first FBS win.
NFL Game of the Year
Lions (-8) at Commanders – A good bounce back spot here for Detroit with Jayden Daniels out and Washington reeling.
Mallory McCormack
The universe thought that me tempting her with treats but no tricks was funny. Alas, that’s how it goes. This week has seen some things and ultimately what I think we all need to take away is that this is just a game, and life is precious. So hug your loved ones, check in with them, and enjoy your favorite team.
Texas A&M (-7) at Missouri - I think A&M will make a statement to stay in the Top 4. Sorry, Mizzou.
Wake Forest at Virginia (-6.5) - UVA is going to try their best to prove they deserve to host a home playoff game. They’ll make a run at that case against WF.
Auburn at Vandy (-6.5) - What a week for Auburn. I think the only sad people that Freezus is out are his family members. But seriously, even with Durkin taking the reins and letting just one person call plays, it’s not enough.
NFL Game of the Week
Philadelphia (+1) at Green Bay - I’m not fully sold on Green Bay yet. And Philly is rested from a bye week.
Greg Bosworth
I was so close yet so far from another great week in the college side, but alas, back to the drawing board and never, ever touching Dallas for the rest of the season!
SMU at Boston College (+10.5) - SMU is coming off a huge win over Miami, so heading to Boston to play a bad BC game at noon local time for the Red Bandanna game just seems like a bad combination of events. That being said, I think the Ponies will win, but it won’t be as comfortable as it probably should be.
Indiana (-14.5) at Penn State - Another game involving the Nittany Lions that has lost all its luster and we know what Curt Cignetti does to bad teams. The Hoosiers will put up another statement game and cover easily.
Georgia at Mississippi State (+9) - The battle of the Bulldogs and should be a fun one in Starkville. Some things you can expect in this is that at some point Georgia will be down and it seems like there is late drama every home game for Mississippi State.
NFL Game of the Week
Falcons vs Colts (-6.5) - I hate the early international games, but they aren’t going anywhere anytime soon, sadly. The Colts are looking for a little bounce back after coming down to earth against the Steelers. The Falcons – even outside of the US – should be exactly the rebound team Indy needs to see.
