This week we cover all things Alabama and SEC football, so we hope you're ready for a LONG episode. We preview the Crimson Tide's transition into the Kalen DeBoer era, including what we expect to see from his offense, how the defense will look post-Saban, and what would make a successful first season. Then we move on to the rest of the SEC and discuss who our elite teams are, who we see as contenders, the solid squads, and the fanbases who need to look to the future.

[00:00:06] [SPEAKER_05]: Welcome everybody to Takin On Sports, IMTD that is Greg. Greg how you doing man?

[00:00:12] [SPEAKER_05]: I am good. I'm pretty good. A hot Sunday here in Birmingham but what can you do?

[00:00:20] [SPEAKER_05]: It's August in the South. All right. But we inch ever closer and closer to the

[00:00:28] [SPEAKER_05]: start of college football folks. It's almost here. It's so close that we can taste it.

[00:00:34] [SPEAKER_05]: In fact I think it's what this upcoming Thursday the first games?

[00:00:39] [SPEAKER_01]: I think Saturday. Week zero I think is on Saturday.

[00:00:43] [SPEAKER_05]: So Saturday I wasn't sure if there was somebody snuck in a...

[00:00:46] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think so. I think it was Saturday. The first game was outside that game in Ireland.

[00:00:51] [SPEAKER_05]: No the Florida State Georgia Tech.

[00:00:54] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh there you go. So we're recording this Sunday night and then so it's a little less than six days away.

[00:01:02] [SPEAKER_05]: We'll be there. We'll be there yeah. It's only week zero but you know hey it's football.

[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_05]: Like I said Florida State Georgia Tech from Dublin, Montana State New Mexico, SMU Nevada,

[00:01:16] [SPEAKER_05]: and Delaware State flies all the way across the country to Hawaii.

[00:01:22] [SPEAKER_01]: For the nightcap.

[00:01:24] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah for the nightcap. Good old classic Hawaii.

[00:01:28] [SPEAKER_05]: We of course here last week we started our preview. We talked about how conference realignment was going to affect the season on the field.

[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_05]: And you know we kind of talked about the new 12 team playoff how that would affect some teams but

[00:01:43] [SPEAKER_05]: And we looked a little bit at some big 12 big 10 stuff but we'll go specifically we know where we are.

[00:01:50] [SPEAKER_05]: We know who our audience is. It is our SEC and Alabama preview.

[00:01:55] [SPEAKER_05]: I think I mentioned last week when I've seen the analytics for our show and it is by far last year's version was by far most downloaded show.

[00:02:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. It's like huge.

[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_05]: It's pretty funny to watch numbers but yeah we'll start right there.

[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_05]: We'll start with our boys in Tuscaloosa of course last year SEC championship kind of surprise one going into the season.

[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_05]: A lot of people have predicted like four even five losses in some places.

[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_05]: A lot of folks were you know questioned a quarterback and rightfully so we didn't know what we're going to have there.

[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_05]: And then Jalen Milrow turned out to be a stud and defense got its act together and lo and behold they beat Georgia won SEC title and

[00:02:42] [SPEAKER_05]: were a couple bad snaps away from winning the rose ball.

[00:02:49] [SPEAKER_05]: And then I don't know anything interesting to happen in Alabama in the offseason Greg?

[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Couple of things. Couple of things.

[00:02:57] [SPEAKER_05]: Couple of things. Of course the GOAT Nick Saban called it quits announced his retirement shortly after that Michigan Rose Bowl loss

[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_05]: much to the dismay surprise heartbreak of Alabama fans everywhere and then much to the delight and celebration of college football fans at every other school.

[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_05]: It was a great era the greatest run in college football history.

[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_05]: We you know we've talked about this course but as Alabama fans it's perspective now we got to reset our expectations and we begin the Kaelin DeBoer era.

[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_05]: And it's just about adjusting you know what's the new Alabama going to look like it's you know we've seen some of the effects on the practice field and recruiting.

[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_05]: He's doing a killer job recruiting.

[00:03:49] [SPEAKER_05]: But let's start specifically let's just look at our schedule real quick.

[00:03:54] [SPEAKER_05]: Start Western Kentucky at home then we get USF you know that was the maybe even aside from the Texas loss made the low point last season was the 17-3 win over USF in Tampa an ugly game and

[00:04:14] [SPEAKER_05]: just had a lot of Alabama fans scared.

[00:04:20] [SPEAKER_05]: And then we go at Wisconsin September 14th it'll be a fun out of conference game maybe a tricky one a good good first test.

[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_05]: Then they get a bye week and then the big first test for Kaelin DeBoer Georgia comes calling the Tuscaloosa first SEC game.

[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_05]: Here you go.

[00:04:37] [SPEAKER_05]: And then we go at Vanderbilt South Carolina at Tennessee, Missouri by then at LSU Mercer at Oklahoma and Auburn.

[00:04:48] [SPEAKER_05]: Greg what do you make of that schedule. What are your kind of initial reactions to it.

[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_05]: Is it really bad really kind of in the middle.

[00:05:00] [SPEAKER_05]: You're on mute there Greg.

[00:05:05] [SPEAKER_01]: I see it is definitely a little tougher.

[00:05:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe we'll talk about what we normally have.

[00:05:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Just because I mean you look at that November schedule I mean most of our most of our Mississippi State was our November game in between Auburn and LSU and Auburn and now this year we're going to Norman.

[00:05:28] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean that's a big that's a big change in that aspect of it.

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_01]: And you know some of it.

[00:05:38] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean it looks I mean on paper is the higher I would say one of our tougher schedules because if you look some of the teams I mean Missouri this might be one of the better Missouri teams.

[00:05:49] [SPEAKER_01]: The best Missouri team that we've probably ever played since they've been in the SEC.

[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_01]: But of course going to Tennessee.

[00:06:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Well you know we know what happened last time and you know Tennessee's gonna kill her at home.

[00:06:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Going to Baton Rouge.

[00:06:09] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean so some very interesting big big road games and then you know that first third game of the season at Wisconsin I mean when we should win there but I mean.

[00:06:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Interesting.

[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Not often that we travel to the Big Ten country.

[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_01]: So that'll be interesting in the south there so.

[00:06:29] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I guess it would be our first road game at a Big Ten team since we went to Penn State.

[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_01]: You know often we've had those big neutral site games kind of start to season we've kind of gotten away from that going to more home at home type game so I mean it's interesting.

[00:06:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Well you know place to go there.

[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Camp Randall.

[00:06:52] [SPEAKER_01]: A lot of history are great fan base.

[00:06:55] [SPEAKER_01]: But I mean nothing super crazy because I mean hell go all over the SEC every every week so I mean it's not something they've never seen before so this is not really.

[00:07:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Shattering as far as that just for different as far as going to Big Ten country.

[00:07:15] [SPEAKER_05]: No but it's a unique challenge yet to unique challenge.

[00:07:19] [SPEAKER_05]: It's September at least so you know we don't have to deal with you know like snow or anything.

[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_05]: Super cold or anything.

[00:07:25] [SPEAKER_05]: But it's a Wisconsin team like you said we should be we were more talented but they're out to prove something you know.

[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_05]: Right.

[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_05]: Seven and six in both the Luke Fickle's first two seasons they're looking to make that kind of leap.

[00:07:38] [SPEAKER_05]: Back into the upper echelon of the Big Ten.

[00:07:40] [SPEAKER_05]: You know they got Miami transfer Tyler van Dyke who a couple years ago a lot of you know the quote unquote experts had him as a top draft choice you know one of the top quarterbacks on the draft.

[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_01]: So great year.

[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_05]: Miami that two was that talents there.

[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah two years ago last year disappointing year for him.

[00:08:00] [SPEAKER_05]: He's a talented kid you know so it's not a game that they're going to sleep on I don't think you know obviously I think they'll be prepared I think but.

[00:08:09] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah for sure it's you know it's a brutal road schedule just for road gear five or games but you know you go to Wisconsin Tennessee LSU Oklahoma and then Vanderbilt stuff fifth one but so.

[00:08:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Nothing the yeah yeah yeah it's tough you know it's tough how the conference and you know even well you know away from.

[00:08:32] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean South and you know some interesting games even in school so of course you know Georgia coming.

[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Obviously number one in the country.

[00:08:44] [SPEAKER_01]: You know Missouri.

[00:08:45] [SPEAKER_01]: We put on the show last season a little different because you know they're running back factor defensive coordinator went to LSU but at all officials should still be quite capable there with Bert quarterback coming back I mean that dynamic offense.

[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean who knows what South Carolina look like you know we really don't don't know.

[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah it's a it's yeah that's a tough kind of conference stretch there it's kind of a couple of unknowns like you said what South Carolina look like.

[00:09:24] [SPEAKER_05]: You know the Missouri games right after the road games Tennessee which I'm sure will be emotionally and physically draining.

[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_05]: We play one two three four teams coming off of buys this year.

[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_05]: Although it's not too bad because one of them is Georgia and we have a buy before as well once LSU we also have a buy.

[00:09:46] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah one of them is Oklahoma but we have Mercer the week before so it's kind of like a kind of a then the other is Vanderbilt so which we played Georgia before but again Vanderbilt's not a very good squad right now shouldn't be this is kind of James Franklin era Vanderbilt or Jay Cutler Vanderbilt I might be a little.

[00:10:10] [SPEAKER_05]: This one should be fun but yeah I think I agree with you it's it's a tougher schedule than we're used to.

[00:10:17] [SPEAKER_05]: And just because I think of the road games the addition to that Oklahoma game like you said.

[00:10:23] [SPEAKER_05]: You know there is no Mississippi State on the schedule this year you know Ole Miss kind of weird to see some of that with the new additions.

[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, yeah we know when we've been playing A&M of course so no Aggies no Mississippi schools.

[00:10:41] [SPEAKER_01]: We knew that was coming but it still looks weird on paper you know once you're up to it and we talk about all the time when you get down to the ground.

[00:10:50] [SPEAKER_01]: That's so different.

[00:10:53] [SPEAKER_05]: But yeah it's gonna be some work for the time to get to Atlanta this year to be one of those top two teams of course again no more divisions in the SEC.

[00:11:05] [SPEAKER_05]: Let's go to we'll start with the offense here of course that's what Katelyn DeBore is he's an offensive coach.

[00:11:13] [SPEAKER_05]: You know Michael Penich Jr. just absolutely amazing for him at Washington in that he was actually his coordinator at Indiana when he was there.

[00:11:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Before his injuries I mean he was dynamic.

[00:11:25] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and then he turned him into just a great pocket passer you know very accurate guy.

[00:11:34] [SPEAKER_05]: So I think of course our first we got to start with Jalen Milro you know how does you know we've seen some stuff in the offseason some videos he's adjusted his throwing motion.

[00:11:43] [SPEAKER_05]: He seems very excited to play in the system.

[00:11:47] [SPEAKER_05]: How do you think Jalen will work in the system is he is it going to be an adjustment period will DeBore is he the kind of guy that will maybe adjust his scheme a little bit add a little bit more running to it.

[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_05]: Are you excited to see him in the system. What are your thoughts.

[00:12:02] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean I just think that this is probably the first time that Jalen's had a very capable offensive staff of course he wasn't started with Bill O'Brien.

[00:12:17] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, feel about Bill if you listen to our podcast.

[00:12:21] [SPEAKER_01]: You got an idea about that.

[00:12:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Last year, I thought for most of them offensive is very lacking.

[00:12:32] [SPEAKER_01]: And then you know I think some of it.

[00:12:34] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, Tommy Reese just.

[00:12:37] [SPEAKER_01]: I think he was over his head season and I don't think he wanted necessarily Jay went to be the quarterback because we saw the USF game you know Jay didn't play and you know, I think we really wanted it was really trying to make it a little bit more

[00:12:51] [SPEAKER_01]: I think they're trying to push his guy from Notre Dame to be their quarterback.

[00:12:55] [SPEAKER_01]: And you know, I don't think he necessarily knew how to use Jalen.

[00:13:00] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, Jalen has a much more capable coaching staff this year as far as offensive, you know, with the wide receiver coach so seeing you know, sure that and of course, you know, killing the board is an offensive promise I mean I think I'm excited I mean I think you know

[00:13:17] [SPEAKER_01]: They're going to open up things that we know are there.

[00:13:23] [SPEAKER_01]: We just haven't seen a little bit, you know, I've said it a couple of different places so I think did a, you know, this is probably going to be our most dynamic offense in Sargleton, honestly.

[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:13:40] [SPEAKER_05]: I agree. I'm very excited to see Jalen and I've liked what I've seen with some all season stuff I think, you know, I think he's going to be he's already kind of you know on the Heisman watch list I think he's going to be a major player and that I think

[00:13:55] [SPEAKER_05]: he's going to have a great year.

[00:13:57] [SPEAKER_05]: So I'm really excited I think the question on offense is you know where do our playmakers come from who's going to emerge.

[00:14:06] [SPEAKER_05]: You know lost a couple you know Jason McClellan transfers out so the backfield now belongs to Justice Haynes, and he shows a lot of promise and flashes you know Jim Miller is back there he's got a lot of speed.

[00:14:19] [SPEAKER_05]: And we've got a couple you know highly talented freshmen and recruits coming in.

[00:14:26] [SPEAKER_05]: Jason Clellan sorry did not try and he went he drafted Roy Donnelly.

[00:14:29] [SPEAKER_05]: Roy Donnelly went to Florida State. Yeah, that's how I'm thinking. But, and then with receivers you know we, it's a thin group.

[00:14:38] [SPEAKER_05]: You know Isaiah Bond went to Texas lost a couple guys graduation.

[00:14:43] [SPEAKER_05]: So now it looks like Kobe Prentice is time to step up.

[00:14:48] [SPEAKER_05]: Kendrick Law, and then we got Jeremy Bernard a transfer from Washington so that's good.

[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_05]: And then of course the big one Ryan Williams the five star big recruit he was kind of like the first litmus test of the DeBoer regime was was able to keep him. Yeah, keep him committed got him into Tuscaloosa and now we're all by all accounts he's the real deal

[00:15:11] [SPEAKER_05]: kind of, you know, best case scenario for Bama fans he's like the second come to Julio Jones.

[00:15:18] [SPEAKER_05]: And he's really something you can start your program build it around and kind of announce your intentions.

[00:15:27] [SPEAKER_05]: Is there any anybody in particular you're looking to emerge this year kind of really become the spark plug for this offense.

[00:15:34] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, you know honestly I think we have a lot of friends and talent. I think we've had a lot of years ever so the wire see room was down.

[00:15:45] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it's an offense. The wire receiver room was down. I just think they didn't know how to use the dolphin. I think just Bill of Ryan.

[00:15:57] [SPEAKER_01]: What just didn't know how to change or adapt to what he had.

[00:16:03] [SPEAKER_01]: There was a lot of potential I don't think that ever used last year I thought the offense was a mess.

[00:16:09] [SPEAKER_01]: I think we have quite a few capable wire receivers and we're going to see them, you know, open up.

[00:16:15] [SPEAKER_01]: You know they're going to have a legit chances of show, you know, turn potential into actual actual things.

[00:16:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you know, I think Kendrick Law. I'm excited to see what he does in the system.

[00:16:28] [SPEAKER_01]: I know he's shown flashes of good things. You know, I've heard Emmanuel Henderson said some good practices.

[00:16:36] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, we've seen Kobe Prentice do some okay things but you know, they're really having it great.

[00:16:43] [SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, I'm excited of course and I think everybody said about Ryan Williams.

[00:16:49] [SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, fall camp, Supposley's had a couple big time practices and had two 100 yard performances for whatever that's worth in fall camp.

[00:16:59] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, not that anybody really able to see that but you know, that's what they say.

[00:17:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Also be interested to see how they use the wire.

[00:17:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Wasn't much use of it last year didn't really seem, you know, I think the pre you is going to use more in the system.

[00:17:22] [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm interested to transfer from Maryland but I'm excited.

[00:17:27] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I think we have a lot of talents wire receivers just really haven't been put in good spots.

[00:17:32] [SPEAKER_01]: So it'll be interesting to see how this new staff really uses.

[00:17:38] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I agree with the tight ends. That's a good point.

[00:17:42] [SPEAKER_05]: I was I think that's one of the more disappointing parts of Tommy Reese's offense last year was that I thought they were tight ends.

[00:17:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that was a big thing.

[00:17:54] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, we seem to have a legit.

[00:17:56] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and that they used a lot of like two, three tight end sets.

[00:17:59] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, they always had a I mean how many tight ends is Notre Dame putting the pros in the last 20 years or so?

[00:18:06] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, so it was surprising to see that's kind of like an Alabama curse.

[00:18:13] [SPEAKER_05]: We have a lot of these really talented tight ends that just don't aren't really the stars of the offense, which you know, they're not going to be but guys like OJ Howard,

[00:18:22] [SPEAKER_05]: you know, the performance is heap it up against Clemson and big games.

[00:18:26] [SPEAKER_05]: You were like, man, why aren't we doing this weekend week out or Smith Jr's?

[00:18:32] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, hopefully. Yeah, hopefully that's one thing we can get more.

[00:18:37] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, the receivers make the big plays, let the tight ends make their, you know, their important big catches, let them move the chains.

[00:18:46] [SPEAKER_05]: So I'm excited to see that.

[00:18:48] [SPEAKER_05]: And of course, I think a lot of eyes, of course, will be on the offensive line.

[00:18:55] [SPEAKER_05]: We get a transfer in at center Parker Bresford and another Washington transfer.

[00:18:59] [SPEAKER_05]: And I think that's probably the biggest sense of joy for every Alabama fan is that no more.

[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't even want to speak his name, but the center transfer to Ohio State, which we talked about that last week as a shocker to see him go there.

[00:19:17] [SPEAKER_05]: So can't wait for him to cost them a big game at some point.

[00:19:23] [SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, I don't remember seeing any bad snaps of Washington last year.

[00:19:27] [SPEAKER_01]: He was a pretty much, you know, he was all American.

[00:19:37] [SPEAKER_01]: He's a big gift for us.

[00:19:40] [SPEAKER_01]: And of course, you know, the other big thing is that getting back.

[00:19:47] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he had, of course, struggles.

[00:19:50] [SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, at the end of the day, he was a true freshman.

[00:19:55] [SPEAKER_01]: 18 years old. He's a big guy.

[00:19:57] [SPEAKER_01]: So, of course, I mean, towards the end of the season, he really started to show that he was, you know, a decent.

[00:20:05] [SPEAKER_01]: He was turning into a decent left tackle.

[00:20:07] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, when he left to go to Iowa, you know, I was kind of disappointed because I was thinking, man, you know, starting to get to where we expected him to be.

[00:20:16] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's starting to become that guy.

[00:20:18] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, that was kind of disappointing because, you know, kind of you felt like, man, we developed him and now he's going to go be Iowa guy.

[00:20:28] [SPEAKER_01]: He's coming came back.

[00:20:30] [SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, be a drug.

[00:20:32] [SPEAKER_01]: It would be fun to see him continue to develop because I mean, you know, he was frustrated with him at times.

[00:20:38] [SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, an 18 year old kid and to be fair, you know, coming from Iowa.

[00:20:44] [SPEAKER_01]: No disrespect, but you know how many top tier guys are going in weekend and week out in high school.

[00:20:51] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, one like he was in Florida, Georgia, Texas, you know, when you're going up against other five star, four star guys, weekend and week out.

[00:21:00] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'm sure he was heads and shoulders above anybody went up against in the state of Iowa.

[00:21:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, beyond the big adjustment going from that to be a star at your left tack when he is.

[00:21:17] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:21:18] [SPEAKER_05]: Like you said, it's great that he decided to come back after announcing his initial attention.

[00:21:23] [SPEAKER_05]: I guess technically did transfer and enrolled in Iowa and then came back.

[00:21:28] [SPEAKER_05]: Came back.

[00:21:28] [SPEAKER_01]: And some people say he did that just to see Katelyn Clark.

[00:21:36] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, hey, can't blame them if that's the case.

[00:21:40] [SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, so it should be an improved offensive line by all accounts.

[00:21:44] [SPEAKER_05]: The offense should be more consistent.

[00:21:45] [SPEAKER_05]: It should be a real joy to I mean, a lot of excitement like some, you know, to air excitement for this offense.

[00:21:55] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm really excited yet to see them on the other side of the ball.

[00:21:58] [SPEAKER_05]: Of course, that's where the biggest adjustment probably comes from.

[00:22:02] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, we go from Nick Saban, who not only greatest coach, but a defensive minor coach.

[00:22:07] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, that's where his bread and butter was.

[00:22:10] [SPEAKER_05]: That's where we made our money, so to say as a program.

[00:22:16] [SPEAKER_05]: And now it's different.

[00:22:17] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, we get in what is his name?

[00:22:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Former South Alabama head coach.

[00:22:23] [SPEAKER_05]: He is now our coordinator.

[00:22:27] [SPEAKER_05]: Kane Womack.

[00:22:28] [SPEAKER_05]: I knew it.

[00:22:28] [SPEAKER_05]: I was like he's got a wrestler name.

[00:22:32] [SPEAKER_05]: It's got to be Kane.

[00:22:35] [SPEAKER_05]: We'll see what his defense looks like.

[00:22:37] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, he's got he's got some work ahead of him.

[00:22:40] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, we lost Dallas Turner to the draft.

[00:22:43] [SPEAKER_05]: We lost basically the entire second.

[00:22:47] [SPEAKER_05]: Malachi Moore is the only one that came back.

[00:22:50] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, lost Caleb Downs, of course, big time disappointment.

[00:22:54] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, understand if you're defensive back and you come to be coached by Nick Saban when he leaves,

[00:23:00] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, you know, you know, I think that's the I think out of every I mean,

[00:23:08] [SPEAKER_01]: and you know, I think most people would agree.

[00:23:11] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, that's really the only guy that we lost in trash reportable.

[00:23:16] [SPEAKER_01]: That's not going to be.

[00:23:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Replaceable.

[00:23:20] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah, just because he's that type of town.

[00:23:24] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we saw it.

[00:23:25] [SPEAKER_01]: We saw his freshman year.

[00:23:27] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he was doing grown man stuff as a freshman.

[00:23:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:23:32] [SPEAKER_01]: It was crazy, man.

[00:23:35] [SPEAKER_01]: So definitely, you're definitely going to miss them.

[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, not only can you just replace you just have to find folks that can,

[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, step in and do what they can do.

[00:23:46] [SPEAKER_01]: But you're definitely not someone you can replace at all.

[00:23:51] [SPEAKER_01]: But kind of a new system and one make, you know, that through a 335.

[00:23:57] [SPEAKER_01]: We run it.

[00:23:58] [SPEAKER_01]: We run that with Saban or something that's not completely new.

[00:24:05] [SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, of course, different wrinkles.

[00:24:08] [SPEAKER_05]: Hey, we should be used to 335.

[00:24:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Let's see old Joe Kines defense right there from that day.

[00:24:16] [SPEAKER_05]: No, yeah, you know, we tried to patch those a couple of transfers in to the

[00:24:22] [SPEAKER_05]: secondary Damani Jackson from USC.

[00:24:25] [SPEAKER_05]: We got Deshaun Jones from Wake Forest, Keon Sabb from Washington.

[00:24:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:24:31] [SPEAKER_01]: So we got some guys with some talent.

[00:24:34] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I have some experience.

[00:24:37] [SPEAKER_01]: And you know, it's good to at least have somebody come back in to

[00:24:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Malachi, you know, just because you get that older presence there,

[00:24:53] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, that's a good thing.

[00:24:56] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I mean, we got a lot of people that are new to the system,

[00:25:00] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, and some of them, even though I'm like Damani Jackson,

[00:25:04] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, technically he's only a, I mean, he's listed as a junior,

[00:25:08] [SPEAKER_01]: but the way he's like a sophomore because he sat out that COVID year.

[00:25:13] [SPEAKER_01]: I think he had one year at USC.

[00:25:16] [SPEAKER_01]: So, I mean, he's, you know, doesn't have a lot of miles on him there.

[00:25:22] [SPEAKER_01]: So, and then we have a lot of talented freshmen, but you know,

[00:25:31] [SPEAKER_01]: it's, I think some guys that will be some growing pains in a second.

[00:25:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:25:36] [SPEAKER_01]: But I think we have guys that are good enough by the end of the season,

[00:25:40] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, they can be very much a part of the rotation.

[00:25:43] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, we can understand what we call them the money month,

[00:25:47] [SPEAKER_01]: the month of November.

[00:25:48] [SPEAKER_01]: We're going to need some most guys that have gone from freshmen to,

[00:25:54] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, I mean, I think we have some dogs, some guys that are ready.

[00:25:58] [SPEAKER_01]: They will be ready to go, you know, Embarkway, Pinka, you know,

[00:26:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Mensee, I've heard some good things.

[00:26:11] [SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, we'll be asking some younger guys.

[00:26:15] [SPEAKER_01]: So, it'll be interesting to see how they develop.

[00:26:22] [SPEAKER_05]: Don't we have, do we have Drake or Patrick's son on our squad?

[00:26:30] [SPEAKER_01]: We do. Yeah.

[00:26:31] [SPEAKER_05]: That folks is how Greg and I know that we are getting fucking old.

[00:26:38] [SPEAKER_05]: A player that was there after we left school.

[00:26:41] [SPEAKER_01]: After we get in here.

[00:26:43] [SPEAKER_05]: As a son.

[00:26:45] [SPEAKER_05]: So hopefully he is, if he's half to 75% the defensive back dad was,

[00:26:53] [SPEAKER_05]: we'll be all right.

[00:26:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but that's crazy to what to that point though.

[00:26:59] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:27:00] [SPEAKER_05]: That's something, just something we used to joke about on a,

[00:27:04] [SPEAKER_05]: if I remember right,

[00:27:05] [SPEAKER_05]: some of those old NCAA games on PlayStation two back in the day,

[00:27:08] [SPEAKER_05]: it had a line that Kirk said that would be like, well,

[00:27:13] [SPEAKER_05]: you know who his dad is.

[00:27:14] [SPEAKER_05]: Like he was a great athlete or something like that.

[00:27:16] [SPEAKER_05]: And you check out the player's name and you would joke about like,

[00:27:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, that's his last name's Cunningham.

[00:27:22] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, that's Randall's son.

[00:27:26] [SPEAKER_05]: That kind of stuff's real. Yeah.

[00:27:31] [SPEAKER_05]: Which you know, I think at least for our generation,

[00:27:34] [SPEAKER_05]: we've been eased into it a little bit because we're seeing with

[00:27:37] [SPEAKER_05]: baseball, I feel like.

[00:27:40] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, baseball particularly because we're seeing like, yeah,

[00:27:43] [SPEAKER_05]: like a Prince field or back in the, you know, a few years ago.

[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_05]: Then like Vlad juniors there now, you know, Boba Shed,

[00:27:49] [SPEAKER_05]: a lot of those guys like that we're seeing.

[00:27:51] [SPEAKER_05]: Like what the heck?

[00:27:54] [SPEAKER_05]: It's really starting to, yeah.

[00:27:56] [SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, back to Alabama.

[00:27:58] [SPEAKER_05]: I agree with you defense is growing pains.

[00:28:00] [SPEAKER_05]: I think that's the key word.

[00:28:01] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, we do have an experienced defensive line,

[00:28:04] [SPEAKER_05]: a really experienced defensive line.

[00:28:05] [SPEAKER_03]: I think.

[00:28:07] [SPEAKER_05]: And then, you know,

[00:28:08] [SPEAKER_05]: it's going to be guys like Deontay Lawson and Malachi Moore really

[00:28:12] [SPEAKER_05]: going to have to lead that defense from a mental standpoint.

[00:28:15] [SPEAKER_05]: They're going to have to be coaches on the field that, you know,

[00:28:17] [SPEAKER_05]: kind of cliche, but.

[00:28:20] [SPEAKER_05]: Because we got to replace, you know, we talked about the secondary,

[00:28:23] [SPEAKER_05]: but you know, we lost Dallas Turner.

[00:28:25] [SPEAKER_05]: We lost a lot of good pass rushers and the defensive line,

[00:28:30] [SPEAKER_05]: I think will especially like you said in that three, three, five.

[00:28:33] [SPEAKER_05]: They're going to have to do some work.

[00:28:38] [SPEAKER_05]: We're going to have to, yeah, it'll be different.

[00:28:39] [SPEAKER_05]: I think we'll see what kind of, I'll be honest,

[00:28:41] [SPEAKER_05]: I've never really watched South Alabama games.

[00:28:43] [SPEAKER_05]: Don't know how aggressive Kane Womack is on defense.

[00:28:48] [SPEAKER_05]: But I think, and tell me if you agree,

[00:28:51] [SPEAKER_05]: I think we'll probably at least for the first year, maybe two,

[00:28:55] [SPEAKER_05]: Alabama fans might have to get used to winning some shootouts.

[00:28:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.

[00:29:01] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's just the way of calling it card football.

[00:29:05] [SPEAKER_01]: That's true.

[00:29:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:29:06] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's such a explosive offense.

[00:29:10] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, if you can hold a team under 30 these days,

[00:29:13] [SPEAKER_01]: you've done a lot of.

[00:29:15] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:29:16] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, you know, and that just might be it.

[00:29:19] [SPEAKER_05]: If this is a defense that allows 21 points a game,

[00:29:23] [SPEAKER_05]: that's probably going to be a good record because.

[00:29:25] [SPEAKER_05]: Right.

[00:29:26] [SPEAKER_05]: That the offense should be able to score a lot of points.

[00:29:30] [SPEAKER_05]: So the defense is one of those defenses.

[00:29:33] [SPEAKER_05]: They, you know, been, but don't break type it.

[00:29:35] [SPEAKER_05]: Right.

[00:29:37] [SPEAKER_05]: We mentioned, you know, Joe Kines, I joked about him,

[00:29:39] [SPEAKER_05]: but he's his defenses are a lot of the same way.

[00:29:42] [SPEAKER_05]: The solid secondary play, tough line play, good linebacker,

[00:29:46] [SPEAKER_05]: you know, just smart linebackers.

[00:29:47] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, he was a what's our boys Houston's coach in the NFL.

[00:29:55] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, the Miko.

[00:29:56] [SPEAKER_05]: The Miko damn out just brain blank right there.

[00:29:59] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:29:59] [SPEAKER_05]: He was to Miko's coach.

[00:30:00] [SPEAKER_05]: So we know what type of players like some.

[00:30:02] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I mean, look at it.

[00:30:04] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, when we were in college,

[00:30:06] [SPEAKER_00]: that linebacker, the Miko, Freddie, I mean, they were.

[00:30:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Joanne Simpson.

[00:30:12] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, we had some solid linebackers.

[00:30:15] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, we did.

[00:30:17] [SPEAKER_05]: So, yeah, they're going to have to, you know,

[00:30:20] [SPEAKER_05]: make I think the big plays.

[00:30:22] [SPEAKER_05]: Like you mentioned, that's defenses have changed now.

[00:30:26] [SPEAKER_05]: It's not, you know, you're not trying to pitch shutouts

[00:30:27] [SPEAKER_05]: every week. I mean, it'd be great, but this isn't the 2011 defense.

[00:30:31] [SPEAKER_05]: We're not going to see that again.

[00:30:32] [SPEAKER_01]: No, just because those offenses have changed so much.

[00:30:36] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, exactly.

[00:30:38] [SPEAKER_05]: But right now it's about making stops when it matters and making

[00:30:43] [SPEAKER_05]: great turnovers, big plays.

[00:30:45] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, you have to you're going to give up some points.

[00:30:48] [SPEAKER_05]: But if you make a couple sacks, you know, third down sacks,

[00:30:51] [SPEAKER_05]: you know, maybe a fourth down stop here and there.

[00:30:53] [SPEAKER_05]: And of course, you know, a turnover turnover.

[00:30:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:30:56] [SPEAKER_01]: I think that the last couple years, that's been our biggest downfalls.

[00:31:01] [SPEAKER_01]: And we haven't had a turnover.

[00:31:03] [SPEAKER_01]: We came accustomed to, you know, we got big turnovers.

[00:31:05] [SPEAKER_01]: So change of momentum of the game for most of these savings

[00:31:09] [SPEAKER_01]: tenure didn't seem like we've had as consistently the last couple,

[00:31:14] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, the last couple of years.

[00:31:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Some of that, of course, has to do with our defense

[00:31:19] [SPEAKER_01]: and who our defense coordinator was.

[00:31:21] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry, I'm missing probably now.

[00:31:23] [SPEAKER_01]: So but you know, I did see a weird thing the other day.

[00:31:30] [SPEAKER_01]: It was a thing I saw on Twitter or something.

[00:31:33] [SPEAKER_01]: It was a Texans reporter was talking to to Will and Will said

[00:31:38] [SPEAKER_01]: that in the 22 season he felt lost and depressed.

[00:31:41] [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, what in the world is going on?

[00:31:44] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, you know, at times you can see things just weren't right.

[00:31:49] [SPEAKER_01]: But man, for him to say that,

[00:31:51] [SPEAKER_01]: like when the world was really going on in that locker room and that deep room.

[00:31:58] [SPEAKER_01]: My goodness.

[00:31:59] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, yeah, I did see that too.

[00:32:02] [SPEAKER_05]: And it makes you think. Yeah, exactly.

[00:32:04] [SPEAKER_05]: Like what the hell's going on?

[00:32:06] [SPEAKER_05]: How does that happen?

[00:32:07] [SPEAKER_05]: It kind of gives you a little bit of insight into the last couple years

[00:32:12] [SPEAKER_05]: and why Saban said what he said about retiring.

[00:32:14] [SPEAKER_05]: And he's kind of burnt out, you know, dealing with, you know,

[00:32:19] [SPEAKER_05]: the one negative of having the great coach of all time

[00:32:23] [SPEAKER_05]: is that his assistants are going to routinely be plucked and poached.

[00:32:27] [SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, honestly, too, I think I think that was the one.

[00:32:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Probably the only really great thing with him retiring.

[00:32:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:32:43] [SPEAKER_01]: We're going to see more quality assistance coming in because, you know,

[00:32:49] [SPEAKER_01]: there's a lot of questions in the end.

[00:32:50] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, Saban done, you know, how much longer do I want to be there?

[00:32:54] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, do I want to stick out and see how that goes or I want to go

[00:32:58] [SPEAKER_01]: now, you know, I think that, you know, some guys, you know,

[00:33:01] [SPEAKER_01]: the newer guys, you know,

[00:33:04] [SPEAKER_01]: they say want to be under Nick Saban, you know, they solve, you know,

[00:33:08] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, when that is, coordinators and times and, you know,

[00:33:12] [SPEAKER_01]: expected a lot of them.

[00:33:13] [SPEAKER_01]: And some people stayed away from that.

[00:33:17] [SPEAKER_01]: So but, you know, I think that's new stuff.

[00:33:20] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, completely different feelings now.

[00:33:24] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I think it's way it feels way more relaxed.

[00:33:27] [SPEAKER_01]: A lot less tense as far as, you know,

[00:33:31] [SPEAKER_01]: your everyday just from the interviews, you know,

[00:33:35] [SPEAKER_01]: getting the coaches, getting assistance, getting interviewed after practice

[00:33:38] [SPEAKER_01]: and everything.

[00:33:39] [SPEAKER_01]: It's a real different structure.

[00:33:41] [SPEAKER_01]: And I think, you know,

[00:33:42] [SPEAKER_01]: I think that might bring in more assistance because, you know,

[00:33:46] [SPEAKER_01]: more welcoming more.

[00:33:48] [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that might be the one good thing is that we're going to

[00:33:51] [SPEAKER_01]: get more quality assistance.

[00:33:53] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, even if a guy does succeed, you know,

[00:33:57] [SPEAKER_01]: with our offensive staff, you know,

[00:34:01] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, one of them goes on to be a head coach or, you know,

[00:34:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Walmic has a hell of a run in.

[00:34:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Someone picks him up.

[00:34:08] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, we're going to see other guys better names coming in towards the

[00:34:12] [SPEAKER_01]: end because honestly, the last couple of

[00:34:17] [SPEAKER_01]: offensive and defensive coordinators kind of underwhelming choices,

[00:34:21] [SPEAKER_01]: I'd say.

[00:34:22] [SPEAKER_01]: And I think most Alabama fans and, you know,

[00:34:25] [SPEAKER_01]: car football fans in general would kind of agree.

[00:34:29] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, for sure.

[00:34:30] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, a lot of us voice that with

[00:34:35] [SPEAKER_05]: DeBoer, it seems like he's trying to go for these young up and comers,

[00:34:39] [SPEAKER_05]: you know, which is what a lot of people had hoped,

[00:34:43] [SPEAKER_05]: you know, Alabama and Saban would do, you know,

[00:34:46] [SPEAKER_05]: over choices like Bill O'Brien or, you know,

[00:34:49] [SPEAKER_05]: maybe put the trigger on getting Pete Golding out a little sooner.

[00:34:54] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, and I think he just for some reason,

[00:34:57] [SPEAKER_01]: it really seemed like Nick really liked Pete.

[00:35:00] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, it's almost like father son type relationship.

[00:35:04] [SPEAKER_01]: It seemed like in a way, but just to that point,

[00:35:08] [SPEAKER_01]: it just had run its course and Pete was Pete and it wasn't going to

[00:35:13] [SPEAKER_05]: get any better.

[00:35:14] [SPEAKER_05]: On the field, it's frustrating.

[00:35:16] [SPEAKER_05]: I think Pete Golding's allure came from his recruiting,

[00:35:20] [SPEAKER_05]: hell of a recruiter by all accounts of a closer guy who really gets

[00:35:23] [SPEAKER_05]: as big guys for you.

[00:35:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Even when we won the top 20, the defense was...

[00:35:29] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:35:31] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, I mean, hey, I remember that Ole Miss game that year.

[00:35:34] [SPEAKER_05]: It was one of the more frustrating, maybe probably the most frustrating

[00:35:38] [SPEAKER_05]: win I've ever watched.

[00:35:40] [SPEAKER_05]: Non-iron bull division, of course, because those are always there.

[00:35:45] [SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, it's just a...

[00:35:54] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it's a new era.

[00:35:55] [SPEAKER_05]: It's exciting to see these new staff,

[00:35:57] [SPEAKER_05]: these guys trying to make a name for themselves.

[00:35:59] [SPEAKER_05]: And when you have guys, multiple people in this staff left head

[00:36:03] [SPEAKER_05]: coaching gigs.

[00:36:04] [SPEAKER_05]: Granted, they were at small schools, but still.

[00:36:07] [SPEAKER_05]: They left head coaching gigs to be a coordinator.

[00:36:12] A coordinator.

[00:36:17] [SPEAKER_05]: And I think that's what a lot of people,

[00:36:21] [SPEAKER_05]: you see a lot of younger guys who don't know their ball,

[00:36:26] [SPEAKER_05]: as they could say,

[00:36:27] [SPEAKER_05]: chirping online about, oh, Alabama was just Saban.

[00:36:33] [SPEAKER_05]: Alabama had history before that too.

[00:36:36] [SPEAKER_05]: That's hilarious.

[00:36:37] [SPEAKER_05]: I find that one of the most hilarious arguments against Alabama

[00:36:41] [SPEAKER_05]: is like, whoa, outside of Saban,

[00:36:44] [SPEAKER_05]: and Bear Bryant, what do they have?

[00:36:46] [SPEAKER_05]: And it's like, that's one,

[00:36:48] [SPEAKER_05]: that's just a dumb argument because we had them.

[00:36:50] [SPEAKER_05]: So they count.

[00:36:52] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, obviously, I mean, there were titles won before Bear Bryant.

[00:36:56] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, of course, Bear restored the program.

[00:36:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't really, I mean, if you look at it,

[00:37:01] [SPEAKER_01]: what's the name? Tenure is really underrated.

[00:37:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Gene Stallings' tenure on Chelsea was really underrated.

[00:37:07] [SPEAKER_01]: He averaged ten wins a year.

[00:37:09] [SPEAKER_01]: He won the national title in what is, what was that?

[00:37:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Second year?

[00:37:15] [SPEAKER_05]: Third year, but yeah.

[00:37:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Third year, won the title, beat them.

[00:37:19] [SPEAKER_01]: We were supposed to get destroyed by him lying.

[00:37:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely, it wasn't even going to be a ball game.

[00:37:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Dominated him.

[00:37:26] [SPEAKER_01]: And he had what?

[00:37:29] [SPEAKER_01]: One season with 97?

[00:37:32] [SPEAKER_05]: No, his first year was his bad year and it was a winning year.

[00:37:36] [SPEAKER_05]: I have a special attachment to Gene Stallings because that's, you know,

[00:37:39] [SPEAKER_05]: I was my hated growing up.

[00:37:41] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, I was like six through 13 during his tenure.

[00:37:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Criminally underrated as far as what he brought to the national titles.

[00:37:50] [SPEAKER_05]: Absolutely, a national title.

[00:37:52] [SPEAKER_05]: Could've, you know, and very close in Winnemore.

[00:37:54] [SPEAKER_05]: In 94, they lost to a Florida team by one point

[00:37:58] [SPEAKER_05]: and a late touchdown in the SEC title game.

[00:38:01] [SPEAKER_05]: They were unbeaten.

[00:38:02] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, they would've played, I think, Nebraska for a national title that year.

[00:38:07] [SPEAKER_05]: 96, they had a 10 win, you know, another close team that just unfortunately

[00:38:12] [SPEAKER_05]: ran into what ended up being national champion Florida in the SEC title game.

[00:38:17] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, so I mean he went.

[00:38:19] [SPEAKER_05]: Nick, Gene Stallings won 70 games in seven seasons.

[00:38:22] [SPEAKER_05]: He averaged 10 wins a year.

[00:38:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Seventy-sixty and one at Alabama.

[00:38:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, seven to five was his one, the worst year.

[00:38:31] [SPEAKER_01]: And that was your one after.

[00:38:33] [SPEAKER_05]: And you know what? After he started 0 and 3.

[00:38:35] [SPEAKER_05]: So he, you know, the rest of the season went 7 and 2.

[00:38:39] [SPEAKER_01]: He still went to the Fiesta Bowl.

[00:38:41] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and they got house by Louisville, but still.

[00:38:44] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean he went with five.

[00:38:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Five and one in bowl games.

[00:38:51] [SPEAKER_01]: All year was a 195-20 go-to game.

[00:38:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Probation.

[00:38:58] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean.

[00:38:59] [SPEAKER_01]: A lot of memorable wins there.

[00:39:00] [SPEAKER_01]: 11-1 in 91, 13-1 in 92, 9-3 in 1 in 93, 12-1 in 94, 10-3 in 96.

[00:39:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean hell.

[00:39:09] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean these are great numbers.

[00:39:12] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean he's criminally underrated.

[00:39:14] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, no, absolutely.

[00:39:16] [SPEAKER_05]: So yeah, if that's what we get from Katelyn DeBoer,

[00:39:19] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm happy with it.

[00:39:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Along those lines,

[00:39:27] [SPEAKER_05]: we'll finish up on Alabama with this.

[00:39:29] [SPEAKER_05]: What makes this a good season for you?

[00:39:34] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I mean I'm being realistic.

[00:39:37] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think we're going to go undefeated.

[00:39:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, I don't even know if we make the SEC Championship game.

[00:39:43] [SPEAKER_01]: You know there's a lot of good teams out there.

[00:39:45] [SPEAKER_01]: The SEC is stacked.

[00:39:47] [SPEAKER_01]: This might be one of the most impressive coming into the season

[00:39:50] [SPEAKER_01]: where the SEC has been in a while with how many teams you look at.

[00:39:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean they're really a good team.

[00:39:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Really, I'm looking at us.

[00:39:59] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, anything I'm looking at is A,

[00:40:02] [SPEAKER_01]: first thing we look at is that Georgia game.

[00:40:04] [SPEAKER_01]: How competitive are we?

[00:40:06] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not, honestly I'm not expecting,

[00:40:08] [SPEAKER_01]: that's one of the games I don't expect to win.

[00:40:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Very well could win the game,

[00:40:12] [SPEAKER_01]: but it's going to be a little different

[00:40:13] [SPEAKER_01]: because I think there was kind of that mind thing

[00:40:15] [SPEAKER_01]: with Kirby and Nick in a way.

[00:40:21] [SPEAKER_01]: So how do we look in that game?

[00:40:24] [SPEAKER_01]: And then you know, if we don't win that game,

[00:40:27] [SPEAKER_01]: how do we be focused on that?

[00:40:29] [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that will kind of determine what we're up for our season.

[00:40:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Firstly, I think we're going 10-2.

[00:40:37] [SPEAKER_01]: But I mean I think the main thing is just

[00:40:41] [SPEAKER_01]: us getting better throughout the season

[00:40:43] [SPEAKER_01]: and just, I just want to see us get back to,

[00:40:50] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, we're winning every week.

[00:40:54] [SPEAKER_01]: The last couple years, every week was almost seemed like,

[00:40:58] [SPEAKER_01]: oh my gosh, you know, it became so,

[00:41:01] [SPEAKER_01]: every week was nailed by, oh my gosh,

[00:41:05] [SPEAKER_01]: we could pull it in.

[00:41:06] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I just want to get back to,

[00:41:09] [SPEAKER_01]: we're playing good football,

[00:41:11] [SPEAKER_01]: but we're winning a little bit more comfortably

[00:41:13] [SPEAKER_01]: than what we have in the last couple years.

[00:41:16] [SPEAKER_01]: And also I think, you know,

[00:41:17] [SPEAKER_01]: just the last couple years

[00:41:21] [SPEAKER_01]: just didn't seem like people were having fun, honestly.

[00:41:27] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I agree.

[00:41:28] [SPEAKER_05]: There was a lack of on-field leadership.

[00:41:34] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I just wanted to get back to where people are having fun,

[00:41:37] [SPEAKER_01]: where the players patrol themselves

[00:41:39] [SPEAKER_01]: and you know, people getting into each other's faces

[00:41:41] [SPEAKER_01]: when things aren't going right.

[00:41:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Hey, man, you know, we need to make this happen, you know.

[00:41:48] [SPEAKER_01]: We saw that for most of the next seven, ten year

[00:41:51] [SPEAKER_01]: where players, from these players,

[00:41:52] [SPEAKER_01]: and that was the biggest thing,

[00:41:54] [SPEAKER_01]: getting everybody on the same page.

[00:41:56] [SPEAKER_01]: I want to get back to that,

[00:41:58] [SPEAKER_01]: but you know, I mean it's got to be some transition.

[00:42:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Of course, you grow from the greatest of all time

[00:42:04] [SPEAKER_01]: to a, you know, I think he's at,

[00:42:07] [SPEAKER_01]: he's done a heck of a job.

[00:42:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I know it wouldn't have been a cat in the barn,

[00:42:09] [SPEAKER_01]: but we have to be realistic.

[00:42:11] [SPEAKER_01]: And there's going to be some changes,

[00:42:14] [SPEAKER_01]: possible growing pains,

[00:42:16] [SPEAKER_01]: some new things we've never seen before.

[00:42:19] [SPEAKER_01]: But I think, you know,

[00:42:21] [SPEAKER_01]: most dynasties, the next day after,

[00:42:25] [SPEAKER_01]: comes into a room that's,

[00:42:29] [SPEAKER_01]: things have deteriorated badly.

[00:42:32] [SPEAKER_01]: The under cover is empty.

[00:42:33] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not pretty.

[00:42:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Nick Saban left it in a pretty decent,

[00:42:39] [SPEAKER_01]: pristine state.

[00:42:40] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, so, you know,

[00:42:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Caleb DeBoer has his own style

[00:42:44] [SPEAKER_01]: does things a little differently,

[00:42:45] [SPEAKER_01]: but he's coming to a great establishment.

[00:42:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Everything is, you know,

[00:42:49] [SPEAKER_01]: a lot of great players in place,

[00:42:51] [SPEAKER_01]: the system's in place.

[00:42:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Nothing's really broken.

[00:42:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe we'll fix in here and there,

[00:42:57] [SPEAKER_01]: but I mean, I think ten and two is very realistic

[00:43:00] [SPEAKER_01]: and should have us right there to play off talk,

[00:43:04] [SPEAKER_01]: come play off Sunday.

[00:43:07] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I think I almost beat for beat

[00:43:10] [SPEAKER_05]: agreed your assessment there.

[00:43:12] [SPEAKER_05]: I think a playoff bid is my floor for a good season.

[00:43:20] [SPEAKER_05]: A playoff bid or if we miss it,

[00:43:22] [SPEAKER_05]: we were shafted somehow.

[00:43:24] [SPEAKER_05]: It's like, oh man, that's bullshit.

[00:43:27] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, like, but I think we're too talented of a team

[00:43:31] [SPEAKER_05]: to not miss it even in that hard schedule,

[00:43:34] [SPEAKER_05]: even in the gauntlet of the SEC.

[00:43:37] [SPEAKER_05]: It's a 12-team playoff.

[00:43:39] [SPEAKER_05]: I think that's got to be our baseline.

[00:43:42] [SPEAKER_05]: Like you said, Nick Saban didn't leave the cover.

[00:43:45] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, this isn't a Bobby Bowden

[00:43:48] [SPEAKER_05]: at the end of his Florida State run.

[00:43:50] [SPEAKER_05]: This isn't some other programs

[00:43:53] [SPEAKER_05]: where, you know, a historical coach has kind of wane

[00:43:56] [SPEAKER_05]: in the last few years of his tenure

[00:43:59] [SPEAKER_05]: and kind of let the roster, you know, go down.

[00:44:03] [SPEAKER_01]: So much different place than most other dynasties.

[00:44:06] [SPEAKER_01]: I like that aspect.

[00:44:08] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, exactly.

[00:44:11] [SPEAKER_05]: I think on the field, you know,

[00:44:15] [SPEAKER_05]: I want to see the offense be dynamic like it should be.

[00:44:18] [SPEAKER_05]: He's an offensive coach.

[00:44:20] [SPEAKER_05]: We've got excellent players.

[00:44:23] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I mean, we've got enough talent.

[00:44:27] [SPEAKER_05]: The offense should be dynamic.

[00:44:29] [SPEAKER_05]: We should score points.

[00:44:30] [SPEAKER_05]: It should be fun to watch.

[00:44:31] [SPEAKER_05]: It should be dangerous.

[00:44:32] [SPEAKER_05]: It should be, you know, like those kind of 2014

[00:44:37] [SPEAKER_05]: through 2020 offenses at Alabama.

[00:44:40] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, those like you're going to have all these players.

[00:44:44] [SPEAKER_05]: You don't know where it's coming from each week.

[00:44:48] [SPEAKER_05]: Or, you know, you got a guy like,

[00:44:49] [SPEAKER_05]: or you got like a Mark Cooper type with us, you know,

[00:44:52] [SPEAKER_05]: laying Kiffin offenses where it didn't matter what the defense did.

[00:44:55] [SPEAKER_05]: He was going to get his.

[00:44:58] [SPEAKER_05]: But and then on defense, I want to see just some stability

[00:45:03] [SPEAKER_05]: and not for it to be a complete chit show, you know.

[00:45:11] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, as long as we understand,

[00:45:13] [SPEAKER_05]: there's probably going to be a fall off, you know,

[00:45:15] [SPEAKER_05]: Nick Saban, great coach of all time, great defensive mind.

[00:45:18] [SPEAKER_05]: It's going to be different.

[00:45:20] [SPEAKER_05]: We're going to have to get used to it.

[00:45:21] [SPEAKER_05]: But as long as it's not, you know,

[00:45:23] [SPEAKER_05]: as long as we don't become the LSU defense for much.

[00:45:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's just so much time with their that I think will be okay.

[00:45:33] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, some of this, like you said, it's going to be different.

[00:45:37] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you know, it's the first time in 2007

[00:45:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Nick Saban doesn't have his fingers on that defense.

[00:45:45] [SPEAKER_01]: So I mean, it's going to be weird at times.

[00:45:48] [SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, I think I think overall, I think we're going to enjoy.

[00:45:53] [SPEAKER_01]: We do.

[00:45:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I think hopefully the fan base is just patient.

[00:45:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Just let things play out.

[00:45:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Don't don't freak out every time something doesn't go quite right because.

[00:46:07] [SPEAKER_01]: It's new.

[00:46:08] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's a new thing.

[00:46:10] [SPEAKER_01]: We're going to get there.

[00:46:11] [SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, maybe just be a little bit of work.

[00:46:14] [SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, hopefully when it comes all together,

[00:46:17] [SPEAKER_01]: when we get to that tough part, you know, from mid October to November,

[00:46:21] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, by then, you know, I think we'll be ready to go.

[00:46:24] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's the most important part of their schedule.

[00:46:31] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, you know, yeah, I'm back.

[00:46:33] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm back. Cool.

[00:46:35] [SPEAKER_05]: Accidentally hit the wrong button, left the browser.

[00:46:38] [SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, what were you saying there?

[00:46:39] [SPEAKER_05]: You're wrapping up your thought.

[00:46:41] [SPEAKER_01]: No. Yeah.

[00:46:43] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, basically I was just saying, you know, folks seem to be patient.

[00:46:46] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, we might have some, you know, first part of the season.

[00:46:49] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I think this is a talent enough.

[00:46:51] [SPEAKER_01]: We have enough to go into it.

[00:46:55] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, we'll be fine.

[00:46:57] [SPEAKER_01]: September and October.

[00:46:59] [SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, mid October, November is really when we meet some of the younger guys.

[00:47:04] [SPEAKER_01]: We really need to have things short up ready to go.

[00:47:06] [SPEAKER_01]: That's when business really picks up from their Tennessee game on down.

[00:47:13] [SPEAKER_01]: And the other thing is, don't even if we even if we were to happen, lose a Georgia game.

[00:47:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Folks just don't lose your mind.

[00:47:23] [SPEAKER_01]: That's one game.

[00:47:25] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, we have a lot of season after that.

[00:47:28] [SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, that's going to be a big early game.

[00:47:31] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure game will be there.

[00:47:32] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure it's going to be crazy.

[00:47:34] [SPEAKER_01]: But it's not a be all end all type situations.

[00:47:38] [SPEAKER_04]: No. Yeah.

[00:47:40] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I think that's one thing I did notice.

[00:47:44] [SPEAKER_05]: We didn't mention that I want to, of course, record breaking kicker.

[00:47:49] [SPEAKER_05]: Will Reichert finally ran out of eligibility and shame for Bama fans.

[00:47:58] [SPEAKER_05]: They were just so scarred by years of uncertain kickers and, you know, inconsistency.

[00:48:06] [SPEAKER_05]: And we get the highest score in NCAA history.

[00:48:11] [SPEAKER_05]: But you know what?

[00:48:13] [SPEAKER_05]: Alabama went out and replaced with the reigning Lou Groza award winner.

[00:48:17] [SPEAKER_05]: I got a transfer in from Miami of Ohio, Graham Nicholson.

[00:48:23] [SPEAKER_05]: All American Lou Groza.

[00:48:25] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. So hopefully.

[00:48:26] [SPEAKER_05]: And then we still have James Burnip as our punter, a great punter and plenty of dynamic return guys.

[00:48:32] [SPEAKER_05]: So special teams.

[00:48:33] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, we didn't talk about that.

[00:48:34] [SPEAKER_05]: But that's because I think it's not a concern.

[00:48:36] [SPEAKER_05]: I think we'll have a great special teams once again.

[00:48:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:48:40] [SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, so that should do it for our Alabama preview.

[00:48:44] [SPEAKER_05]: This is a good time to pause and go take a break if you guys are listening.

[00:48:49] [SPEAKER_05]: We'll move on to the SEC now.

[00:48:54] [SPEAKER_05]: So, Greg, what I did for this preview is I divided the SEC into four tiers.

[00:48:59] [SPEAKER_05]: Tier one are absolute contenders.

[00:49:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Let's just start there.

[00:49:04] [SPEAKER_05]: These are the guys that it's probably one of these four teams that's going to win the SEC title on it for that.

[00:49:10] [SPEAKER_05]: I have Georgia, Texas, Alabama and Ole Miss.

[00:49:15] [SPEAKER_05]: First of all, would you agree with that group?

[00:49:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Pretty close.

[00:49:20] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I might put LSU in that mix, but yeah, pretty much.

[00:49:25] [SPEAKER_05]: I'll explain why they're in the next tier when I get to them.

[00:49:27] [SPEAKER_05]: For this tier, we just covered Alabama, so I don't really think we need to talk to them.

[00:49:35] [SPEAKER_05]: But three questions.

[00:49:36] [SPEAKER_05]: I'll try to do a question for each team.

[00:49:38] [SPEAKER_05]: We'll start with Georgia.

[00:49:41] [SPEAKER_05]: Is it just the lock they're in the playoff this year?

[00:49:46] [SPEAKER_05]: Like, undoubted?

[00:49:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, nothing.

[00:49:57] [SPEAKER_01]: I would say for Georgia, there's people who question their schedule over the last couple of years.

[00:50:03] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's definitely a tougher schedule than what they've been doing to us late.

[00:50:09] [SPEAKER_01]: So, I mean, definitely some possible losses on the schedule there.

[00:50:15] [SPEAKER_01]: But in their very team, we all know that.

[00:50:18] [SPEAKER_01]: We know how good Carson Beck is as a quarterback.

[00:50:21] [SPEAKER_01]: The biggest question for me for Georgia is the wide receivers.

[00:50:25] [SPEAKER_01]: We know that, you know, the tight end, Bowers is going to the NFL.

[00:50:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Mccartney has gone to the NFL.

[00:50:37] [SPEAKER_01]: The transfer from Mississippi State was kicked off the team.

[00:50:42] [SPEAKER_01]: So I mean, we know there's talent there.

[00:50:46] [SPEAKER_01]: But that's always been the biggest question, Mark, is a wide receiver playing Georgia.

[00:50:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Obviously they haven't had a thousand yard receivers since 03, I think.

[00:50:57] [SPEAKER_01]: So, I mean, if there's anything that you wonder about Georgia who's catching the past this year.

[00:51:04] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they're still a very talented bunch, but they're losing a lot.

[00:51:08] [SPEAKER_01]: They've lost a lot of their receiver production from the last couple of years for sure.

[00:51:16] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:51:20] [SPEAKER_05]: You mentioned a schedule. I'll start with that.

[00:51:24] [SPEAKER_05]: It is a much tougher, I think we, I think if I remember from last year,

[00:51:27] [SPEAKER_05]: we really got on the Georgia about that week schedule and kind of turned out to be right.

[00:51:32] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, when they played a big time game, the SEC Championship,

[00:51:35] [SPEAKER_05]: they didn't have the, they weren't, you know, sharpened, you know, iron sharpens iron type thing.

[00:51:41] [SPEAKER_05]: But this year it is a tough schedule.

[00:51:43] [SPEAKER_05]: So they start with a quote unquote neutral site game in Atlanta against Clemson.

[00:51:49] [SPEAKER_05]: So you got to be, you would think they're favored easily and should win that.

[00:51:53] [SPEAKER_05]: But it might be a desperate Clemson team.

[00:51:56] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:51:58] [SPEAKER_01]: You got to pay attention. They got Winko before it be ready.

[00:52:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. Yeah.

[00:52:02] [SPEAKER_05]: And then they get Tennessee Tech at home.

[00:52:04] [SPEAKER_05]: So obviously that's a drop down at Kentucky, which, you know,

[00:52:07] [SPEAKER_05]: Kentucky probably will have a little bit of drop off this year.

[00:52:09] [SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, it's an interesting game.

[00:52:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Then you have a bye week and you're at Alabama and this stretch right here.

[00:52:15] [SPEAKER_05]: This is a tough one at Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State at Texas.

[00:52:21] [SPEAKER_05]: That's their September through October stretch right there into September into October.

[00:52:27] [SPEAKER_05]: They get a, they get a bye after Texas and they get the cocktail party against Florida.

[00:52:31] [SPEAKER_05]: They're at Ole Miss.

[00:52:33] [SPEAKER_05]: Then they finished Tennessee, UMass, Georgia Tech.

[00:52:37] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that's not an easy schedule.

[00:52:39] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, the at a conference slate, a couple of, you know, with UMass and Tennessee Tech.

[00:52:44] [SPEAKER_05]: Okay. There's your E-Win.

[00:52:45] [SPEAKER_05]: But man, that conference schedule is not easy.

[00:52:50] [SPEAKER_05]: There's not a, yeah, there is not a Mississippi State,

[00:52:53] [SPEAKER_05]: probably definitely the easiest game in the conference schedule.

[00:52:55] [SPEAKER_05]: They're going to be a down year.

[00:52:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Auburn obviously is going to be better this year even away from,

[00:53:04] [SPEAKER_01]: even away from Jordan coming in a tougher game.

[00:53:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:53:08] [SPEAKER_01]: People are going to be looking at.

[00:53:10] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, especially a week after on the road at Tuscaloosa, you know.

[00:53:15] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:53:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Win or lose, I mean, you're facing Auburn in the very next week.

[00:53:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Oldest rivalry in the South.

[00:53:22] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, weird placement for it and still getting used to that sign game in November.

[00:53:26] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, right.

[00:53:27] [SPEAKER_01]: But, but I mean, so I mean, we know the history of that.

[00:53:32] [SPEAKER_01]: It's been some weird ones over the years.

[00:53:33] [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, crazy placement.

[00:53:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Win or lose, that's what I'm looking at right now.

[00:53:40] [SPEAKER_01]: They're going to be looking for that win.

[00:53:42] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you know, obviously you're looking for the first big win of this tenure on the Plains.

[00:53:47] [SPEAKER_01]: So I mean, you're not right there.

[00:53:49] [SPEAKER_01]: So it could be it we're looking for.

[00:53:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Going to Austin, I mean, that'll be interesting.

[00:53:54] [SPEAKER_01]: We know, you know, of course, you know, just how good that offense has been for Texas.

[00:54:06] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, obviously lost a little bit in the drop there, but I mean, you know, they got Isaiah Biden coming in.

[00:54:14] [SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, they lost a couple of running back.

[00:54:19] [SPEAKER_01]: The running back room is dead.

[00:54:20] [SPEAKER_01]: They've lost two to the season already in practice.

[00:54:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Fall count of two ACL tears.

[00:54:25] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that's a good transition into the Longhorns.

[00:54:30] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, they I was that's what I was going to bring up, man.

[00:54:33] [SPEAKER_05]: I mean, Sarks got a ton of weapons on that offense.

[00:54:37] [SPEAKER_05]: You mentioned Isaiah Bond and a Nomari black.

[00:54:42] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, but yeah, they've lost a couple there and for the season too, like you said, big time studs at running back.

[00:54:50] [SPEAKER_05]: So that'll be something to watch there.

[00:54:55] [SPEAKER_05]: Their schedule.

[00:54:57] [SPEAKER_05]: It's interesting schedule for their first SEC year so they start Colorado State at Michigan.

[00:55:02] [SPEAKER_05]: That'll be a fun out of conference game early in the season.

[00:55:07] [SPEAKER_05]: UTSA, UL Monroe, Mississippi State round out their first block of game.

[00:55:13] [SPEAKER_05]: So they only have to go on the road once.

[00:55:15] [SPEAKER_05]: Then they get a bye week and to get the Red River shootout.

[00:55:19] [SPEAKER_05]: Then that Georgia game at Vandy, another by then they host Florida go at Arkansas renewal that rivalry.

[00:55:26] [SPEAKER_05]: Kentucky at home and then of course, November 30th at Texas A&M.

[00:55:32] [SPEAKER_05]: I expect I can't wait.

[00:55:34] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, Kyle Field will be absolutely insane that day.

[00:55:39] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't care if Texas loses their first 11 games going into that.

[00:55:45] [SPEAKER_05]: Both both teams do. That's gonna be yeah, that is going to be a fun game to watch.

[00:55:50] [SPEAKER_05]: My question for Texas.

[00:55:54] [SPEAKER_05]: Are they really, really, really back now?

[00:56:00] [SPEAKER_05]: They went to the playoff last year lost to Washington maybe it's game they should have definitely could have won.

[00:56:08] [SPEAKER_05]: Be it Alabama in Tuscaloosa, you know, it's a big talk of the early season and throughout the season.

[00:56:14] [SPEAKER_05]: But now they're jumping up a class and conference.

[00:56:17] [SPEAKER_05]: We just read through that schedule.

[00:56:20] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, gone are the you know, the Kansas State Kansas games of the world.

[00:56:26] [SPEAKER_05]: And you know, now you've you know, you got a renewal of a rivalry with Georgia.

[00:56:31] [SPEAKER_05]: You got you got two heated rivalries coming back that you haven't played in a long time now.

[00:56:38] [SPEAKER_01]: That's got three through three bitter rivals in a certain way.

[00:56:41] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Arkansas at Arkansas.

[00:56:45] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's much bigger to the Arkansas fan base to be fair.

[00:56:49] [SPEAKER_01]: But it was a fierce rivalry back in the state.

[00:56:52] [SPEAKER_01]: It was a fierce rivalry.

[00:56:53] [SPEAKER_01]: And we saw it every time they played it in Fayetteville.

[00:56:56] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it was absolutely berserk there.

[00:56:58] [SPEAKER_01]: That atmosphere was crazy when Arkansas crushed them a couple of years ago.

[00:57:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Start with us first year.

[00:57:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely crazy atmosphere.

[00:57:10] [SPEAKER_01]: And then, of course, we know the winter 30th brings.

[00:57:13] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I've been waiting for this for God knows how they have that circled like no other.

[00:57:23] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that's going to be a yeah, that that we cannot stress how much that is just can be an insane environment.

[00:57:30] [SPEAKER_01]: So much. But I say but man, I mean, you know, just that you go from your Red River gaming and so on.

[00:57:43] [SPEAKER_01]: And then the next week, there's no break.

[00:57:46] [SPEAKER_01]: You go to Georgia comes to town.

[00:57:48] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's that's just what the SEC is.

[00:57:51] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's the different thing for the new guys to the SEC is there's no break.

[00:57:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you don't have a luxury of maybe playing Baylor the next week or, you know, no disrespect to Baylor.

[00:58:02] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we have that's what you know, it's a big difference.

[00:58:05] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, your red rock put so much into that game, such a heat or rivalry win or lose.

[00:58:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you put everything into that game and in Georgia comes the time of next week.

[00:58:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly. That's something else.

[00:58:19] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that's tough.

[00:58:23] [SPEAKER_05]: Then you got just that finish we talked about that Florida at Arkansas, Kentucky and that Kentucky game.

[00:58:30] [SPEAKER_05]: That's one of those again that stands out as who knows you're in between two heated rivalries.

[00:58:36] [SPEAKER_05]: Both of them are road games and screams trap game.

[00:58:39] [SPEAKER_05]: Kentucky is just a well, well coached team, a talented team.

[00:58:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. Yeah, you know, you never know.

[00:58:49] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, and, you know, another thing with, you know, Kentucky, I mean,

[00:58:55] [SPEAKER_01]: and the other thing with schedule two is we don't know what Florida is going to be in November.

[00:59:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, I mean, you know, it's been well documented how tough the schedule that they have.

[00:59:05] [SPEAKER_01]: People don't expect the most from them.

[00:59:07] [SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, if they Florida excels and then, you know, people think that game could be very tough depending on what the mindset is.

[00:59:19] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, if they're I mean, you know, they have a schedule there with their own my God.

[00:59:26] [SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, if they are better than what they were, I mean, you look at last year, I mean, they ended up five and seven on the year.

[00:59:33] [SPEAKER_01]: But so many games they could have won.

[00:59:36] [SPEAKER_05]: No, yeah, we'll get to Florida and I'm ready here.

[00:59:40] [SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, no, I agree.

[00:59:43] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's not that I mean, compared to what you scheduled for the new guys coming in.

[00:59:47] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not as tough.

[00:59:48] [SPEAKER_01]: No, but it's still a gauntlet.

[00:59:50] [SPEAKER_05]: It is a gauntlet.

[00:59:52] [SPEAKER_05]: And so they'll have to prove it.

[00:59:54] [SPEAKER_05]: They're going to have to earn it if you know, in their first year in the SEC,

[00:59:57] [SPEAKER_05]: But definitely a team with enough talent and a good enough coach that they can win it.

[01:00:03] [SPEAKER_05]: They can come in and win the league their first year would not shock me if they did.

[01:00:07] [SPEAKER_01]: One charming.

[01:00:09] [SPEAKER_05]: We'll move on to a team not on the Longhorn schedule and the last team in this tier.

[01:00:15] [SPEAKER_05]: Ole Miss Lane is he's got these guys almost right there.

[01:00:20] [SPEAKER_05]: They're at the point where they're basically there.

[01:00:24] [SPEAKER_05]: The losses they have are Alabama, Georgia.

[01:00:28] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, 22 is a down year, you know, the five losses that year.

[01:00:31] [SPEAKER_05]: But you go back to 21 and same thing.

[01:00:33] [SPEAKER_05]: There are two losses or a road game in Alabama road game at a ranked Auburn team.

[01:00:39] [SPEAKER_05]: So my question for Ole Miss this year is, are they ready to make that leap?

[01:00:43] [SPEAKER_05]: Are they now with the 12 team playoff?

[01:00:46] [SPEAKER_05]: It would seem like they have to make it to really get to that next level.

[01:00:53] [SPEAKER_05]: So yeah, do you think they're ready for that?

[01:00:58] [SPEAKER_01]: I do.

[01:00:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think the biggest thing we talked about whatever reason things just didn't happen.

[01:01:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Didn't go right again.

[01:01:09] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, we've seen the times outside of 20 game where the offense came up flat and we were kind of shocked at times.

[01:01:17] [SPEAKER_01]: What is what is Lane doing?

[01:01:20] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, remember the couple years ago, the Brant bring your popcorn.

[01:01:24] [SPEAKER_05]: We slaughtered them popcorn.

[01:01:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I was worried. Yeah, I was worried that they obviously come pretty bad up to that point.

[01:01:34] [SPEAKER_01]: And man, you know, last year, their first half, I was like, man, they're going to have a quick score, I believe.

[01:01:43] [SPEAKER_01]: And then they didn't really do anything the rest of the day on the offensive side.

[01:01:49] [SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, I think it's him not facing Nick Saban, not playing Alabama at all is huge for Ole Miss.

[01:01:57] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, because of course that's been his biggest thing is he can't beat Nick Saban.

[01:02:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Then have to face Nick Saban at all, probably not Alabama at all.

[01:02:06] [SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be somewhere in the playoff or the SEC Championship game.

[01:02:10] [SPEAKER_01]: So that in itself is huge for Ole Miss.

[01:02:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but I mean, I don't think there's ever been for Ole Miss like this year in their history.

[01:02:22] [SPEAKER_05]: No, and he went out and did the smart thing to he really hit that transfer portal and address their defense.

[01:02:30] [SPEAKER_05]: The defensive line was a deficiency last year.

[01:02:32] [SPEAKER_05]: They really addressed that we know they're going to be good on offense.

[01:02:37] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, losing Quinn Sean Juckins, of course, is a huge loss.

[01:02:42] [SPEAKER_05]: And I'm sure sure that we probably should get Mal on here to really talk through the Ole Miss team.

[01:02:51] [SPEAKER_05]: But, you know, they've got talent, they got weapons, they've got a favorable schedule.

[01:02:57] [SPEAKER_05]: I mean, their schedule, Furman, Middle Tennessee at Wake Forest, Georgia Southern, Kentucky, at South Carolina, at LSU,

[01:03:05] [SPEAKER_05]: at the end of the week, they're going to host the LSU game, October, bye week, Oklahoma, at Arkansas, Georgia, bye week at Florida.

[01:03:10] [SPEAKER_05]: And then the egg bowl absolutely should be starting at least six and oh, headed into that LSU game October 12th.

[01:03:23] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, no doubt.

[01:03:24] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, the back half, it gets a lot tougher, you know.

[01:03:27] [SPEAKER_05]: You've got to host Oklahoma, you got to host Georgia.

[01:03:29] [SPEAKER_05]: That's your big one.

[01:03:30] [SPEAKER_05]: Obviously, if you can finally get that caliber of win over if they can upset Georgia, that's I think.

[01:03:38] [SPEAKER_05]: But even so, you know, if you lose that this is a schedule, you could see them definitely going 10 and 2 again, maybe even 11 and 1.

[01:03:46] [SPEAKER_05]: Very well could be 11.

[01:03:47] [SPEAKER_05]: They absolutely could make the SEC title game for what should be the first time and the other programs done that.

[01:03:55] [SPEAKER_05]: I think you don't know what you said.

[01:03:58] [SPEAKER_05]: This is kind of one of those if not, if not now, then win years for Ole Miss.

[01:04:04] [SPEAKER_01]: You definitely have this is definitely the schedule that they need to do that.

[01:04:09] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I said, should we go on into that night game against them and Baton Rouge defeated?

[01:04:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Very well could be both teams coming into that game undefeated, honestly.

[01:04:24] [SPEAKER_01]: October 12th is quite the day in Card Football, obviously, looking at the overall schedule.

[01:04:30] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, let's use that and let's jump to our tier two now.

[01:04:38] [SPEAKER_05]: This is a tier.

[01:04:39] [SPEAKER_05]: This would be all of these teams are capable of making a run to the SEC title game.

[01:04:44] [SPEAKER_05]: They're definitely capable of beating anybody in the conference.

[01:04:48] [SPEAKER_05]: They're just a step below that first year for me.

[01:04:51] [SPEAKER_05]: So I have in this tier Oklahoma, Missouri, LSU and Tennessee.

[01:04:59] [SPEAKER_05]: We'll start with LSU because you mentioned them there.

[01:05:01] [SPEAKER_05]: The reason you said you would maybe have them in your tier one.

[01:05:04] [SPEAKER_05]: The reason I'd bump them down, they losing Daniels, neighbors and Thomas has just a ton of production lost.

[01:05:16] [SPEAKER_05]: I mean, Jaylen, we talked about him, Jaden Daniels with his literal video game stats.

[01:05:21] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, it's an overused phrase.

[01:05:23] [SPEAKER_05]: People use it for 300 yard games.

[01:05:25] [SPEAKER_05]: No, he was doing 400 in the air, 200 running seven touchdown games, literal PlayStation.

[01:05:31] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[01:05:34] [SPEAKER_05]: And then obviously his two receivers, you know, they were catching a lot of those balls.

[01:05:39] [SPEAKER_05]: I just think that is that's just so much to replace.

[01:05:46] [SPEAKER_05]: Garrett Nussmeyer is coming in.

[01:05:51] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, he'll he knows the offense.

[01:05:53] [SPEAKER_05]: He's been in the system.

[01:05:56] [SPEAKER_05]: Of course, he's not.

[01:05:57] [SPEAKER_05]: He's very talented.

[01:05:58] [SPEAKER_05]: Of course, no one is going to be Jaden Daniels.

[01:06:01] [SPEAKER_05]: He's, you know, one of those rare athletes.

[01:06:05] [SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, it's a interesting schedule for LSU to start with the neutral site game against USC in Las Vegas.

[01:06:13] [SPEAKER_05]: The name Nichols at South Carolina, UCLA for another packed in team, South Alabama.

[01:06:21] [SPEAKER_05]: So, you know, that's easy five and oh right there.

[01:06:23] [SPEAKER_05]: And then they have a bye week before the Ole Miss game or sorry, I shouldn't say an easy five and oh, but they should.

[01:06:29] [SPEAKER_05]: Tell you what, that LSU USC game is going to be interesting because those are two teams with great offenses with little to no defense last year.

[01:06:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's true.

[01:06:41] [SPEAKER_01]: And but you know, a lot of questions about USC.

[01:06:43] [SPEAKER_01]: I think that's just a game to see what they are.

[01:06:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Of course, Kayla Williams, still very talented bunch.

[01:06:52] [SPEAKER_01]: So we'll know a lot more about LSU after that week one game.

[01:06:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I agree with you.

[01:07:00] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I mean, when you said once and that's not easy.

[01:07:05] [SPEAKER_01]: But I would be kind of shocked if they don't defeat both them and Ole Miss going into that 12th game.

[01:07:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think game day is the biggest game of the weekend.

[01:07:19] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. And then after that, speaking of, you know, games in weird places now they go at Arkansas, the Golden Boot.

[01:07:27] [SPEAKER_05]: And that's a tough stretch right here.

[01:07:29] [SPEAKER_05]: They get they get Ole Miss at home, then they go at Arkansas and then at Texas A&M the next week.

[01:07:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Texas A&M has been a tough spot.

[01:07:39] [SPEAKER_01]: They've had some tough, tough games in in Colorado Station.

[01:07:43] [SPEAKER_05]: Absolutely. Yeah, I think they've lost their last three trips to their.

[01:07:48] [SPEAKER_01]: College station. Yeah, I mean, they had that crazy one, seven overtime.

[01:07:54] [SPEAKER_01]: And then of course after they beat us, went into college station and when they lost that game somehow before the SEC championship.

[01:08:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Two years ago.

[01:08:09] [SPEAKER_01]: So they've had some they've had their struggles in the field for sure.

[01:08:16] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, then that and then then Florida.

[01:08:20] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, every we know that you know, that's the underrated robbery in Florida LSU has had some great games over there.

[01:08:31] [SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, going into the swamp is always a tough thing.

[01:08:34] [SPEAKER_01]: And you Vanderbilt and season.

[01:08:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you comes in town.

[01:08:40] [SPEAKER_01]: That's something new.

[01:08:42] [SPEAKER_01]: But as you know, never easy out to play the Sooners.

[01:08:48] [SPEAKER_05]: No, yeah, that's an interesting late season game.

[01:08:52] [SPEAKER_05]: You mentioned that that's a that's a tricky road schedule to only four games.

[01:08:57] [SPEAKER_05]: But you go at South Carolina. That's your first SEC game at Arkansas.

[01:09:02] [SPEAKER_01]: You're crazy. Yeah, when when South Carolina is playing good.

[01:09:07] [SPEAKER_01]: That's the rocks at Arkansas.

[01:09:11] [SPEAKER_01]: It's going. Oh, yeah.

[01:09:14] [SPEAKER_05]: At Arkansas's, you know, rivalry game at Texas A&M is like you said, it's kind of a that's a weird place for them.

[01:09:20] [SPEAKER_05]: And then at Florida, which, you know, Florida's who knows.

[01:09:24] [SPEAKER_05]: But if they're a good team, they'll be rolling by them.

[01:09:26] [SPEAKER_05]: And that's always the swamps, not easy place to play either.

[01:09:30] [SPEAKER_05]: No. Yeah.

[01:09:35] [SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, I think that's the only reason LSU is obviously an immensely talented team.

[01:09:40] [SPEAKER_05]: They're always going to have a bunch of talent on that roster.

[01:09:44] [SPEAKER_05]: It's just losing that much production.

[01:09:46] [SPEAKER_05]: I just think they have to show me something before I want to put them back in that top tier.

[01:09:52] [SPEAKER_01]: I will say I think their defense is going to be much better this year because they get the defense coordinator from Missouri and Blake.

[01:09:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's going to show up some things on the defense.

[01:10:02] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, last year was weird with Perkins.

[01:10:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Chinese.

[01:10:07] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not his thing.

[01:10:09] [SPEAKER_01]: There isn't some weird situation, I think.

[01:10:12] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, of course, Perkins freshman year with the absolute beast on the defense side of the ball.

[01:10:18] [SPEAKER_01]: So I think he's going to use how we should be getting used.

[01:10:22] [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I mean, I think they're going to be a very good team.

[01:10:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, some tough games there.

[01:10:29] [SPEAKER_01]: But the shock towards the end, I mean, they're looking at it in a possible, you know,

[01:10:38] [SPEAKER_01]: I see them 11, 10 and two tights right on their playoff cusp.

[01:10:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Worst case scenario, they definitely a good team.

[01:10:50] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I don't see them falling back to like seven and six or anything like that.

[01:10:55] [SPEAKER_05]: But it's just like I said, that's just too much production to me.

[01:10:58] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, to be comfortable.

[01:11:00] [SPEAKER_05]: Let's stay with the Tigers.

[01:11:01] [SPEAKER_05]: But this time the ones from Missouri, they've made a lot of progress under Eli Drinkwitz.

[01:11:07] [SPEAKER_05]: 11 and two record last year, you know, got a bowl win, the cotton bowl beat Ohio State in a very sloppy, ugly game.

[01:11:18] [SPEAKER_05]: Their only losses last year lost a home shootout against LSU and then played Georgia tough tough in Athens, only lost by nine.

[01:11:27] [SPEAKER_05]: They played Georgia tough the last two seasons, you know, almost beat them two years ago in Columbia.

[01:11:33] [SPEAKER_05]: Should have beat them. Yeah, if we're being honest.

[01:11:36] [SPEAKER_05]: Their schedule, another one that's kind of has its moments, of course, at CSCC, but another favorable one.

[01:11:42] [SPEAKER_05]: They start on a Thursday night with Murray State, then Buffalo, Boston College and Vanderbilt, and then a bye week.

[01:11:50] [SPEAKER_05]: So they don't have to leave Columbia until October.

[01:11:53] [SPEAKER_05]: And then they go at Texas A&M, at UMass.

[01:11:56] [SPEAKER_05]: That's a weird trip home for Auburn, then at Alabama.

[01:12:01] [SPEAKER_05]: That is that's a tough stretch right there with your the SEC games anyway.

[01:12:06] [SPEAKER_05]: Then they get another buy. They get old big eight rival Oklahoma.

[01:12:10] [SPEAKER_05]: They'll meet for the first time in who knows how many years.

[01:12:15] [SPEAKER_05]: Then they go at South Carolina, at Mississippi State and then finish with Arkansas.

[01:12:21] [SPEAKER_05]: That's not the worst schedule in the world.

[01:12:24] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, it's got its tough moments, but you could see them.

[01:12:28] [SPEAKER_05]: I mean, they can beat Oklahoma at home.

[01:12:33] [SPEAKER_05]: They can win those road games outside of Tuscaloosa.

[01:12:36] [SPEAKER_05]: And that could be they could finish 11 to one.

[01:12:39] [SPEAKER_05]: That's not out the realm of possibility.

[01:12:41] [SPEAKER_05]: If Drew Locke or Brady Cook, excuse me, if he plays to his potential.

[01:12:49] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, and they keep good to see.

[01:12:52] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that was my question.

[01:12:54] [SPEAKER_05]: So they've you know, last season, they made that kind of leap.

[01:12:58] [SPEAKER_05]: Can they keep building on last season now that Texas and Oklahoma have entered?

[01:13:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Or is this something that knocks Missouri keeps them basically at their level?

[01:13:10] [SPEAKER_05]: How much do you think that those two new additions hurt Missouri?

[01:13:14] [SPEAKER_05]: Or do you think that they're just they've already established and they're going to keep growing?

[01:13:20] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I think this is going to be a big season for them because I mean, you know,

[01:13:25] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, when they first came in the SEC, they made it work to SEC title game.

[01:13:30] [SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, they. But last year was the first time when you really

[01:13:35] [SPEAKER_01]: do this since they've been SEC, no disrespect to what they've done.

[01:13:39] [SPEAKER_01]: But probably man, this is actually a decent team.

[01:13:43] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, for a while, you know, the SEC was down a little bit.

[01:13:46] [SPEAKER_01]: They used to go up there when they made their little ones there, honestly.

[01:13:50] [SPEAKER_01]: But you know, last year, the Missouri team was a legit team.

[01:13:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you know, interesting enough, though, Drinkaways came into the season

[01:13:57] [SPEAKER_01]: kind of on the hot seat last year.

[01:14:00] [SPEAKER_01]: They had their way to Kansas State with that last second kick,

[01:14:04] [SPEAKER_01]: and that kind of transformed her season and turned them into what they became.

[01:14:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Brady Cook was getting booed again at the end of the season.

[01:14:12] [SPEAKER_01]: He's a man on campus. Just funny how things change.

[01:14:16] [SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, I think I don't think necessarily the OU in Texas

[01:14:21] [SPEAKER_01]: really hurts them because I think they kind of.

[01:14:24] [SPEAKER_01]: They never really. I don't think that they're necessarily going after the same type of folks.

[01:14:30] [SPEAKER_01]: They really go big in a Kansas City, St. Louis area.

[01:14:34] [SPEAKER_01]: It was where they really prosper with talent.

[01:14:37] [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's, you know, that's their bread and butter.

[01:14:41] [SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, I think they just have to keep on what they know.

[01:14:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Show that last year wasn't a fluke.

[01:14:47] [SPEAKER_01]: That's what's going to keep them at, you know,

[01:14:50] [SPEAKER_01]: And they can do it again this year.

[01:14:58] [SPEAKER_01]: They get into the playoffs.

[01:15:00] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's really going to pop for the recruits

[01:15:03] [SPEAKER_01]: and what Missouri's looking to build into.

[01:15:07] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they definitely could do it this year.

[01:15:09] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, there's really not a game on the schedule

[01:15:11] [SPEAKER_01]: like for no chance of they're going to win.

[01:15:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, we hope that Alabama game.

[01:15:17] [SPEAKER_01]: But even now, you look at it, I mean, we should win that game.

[01:15:20] [SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, you know, like, yeah, it's not like past years play Missouri.

[01:15:26] [SPEAKER_05]: No, yeah, this is not a guaranteed win.

[01:15:30] [SPEAKER_04]: You're right.

[01:15:32] [SPEAKER_05]: No, well said. Yeah.

[01:15:35] [SPEAKER_05]: It's that's kind of we'll see, you know, but they got a big chance.

[01:15:38] [SPEAKER_05]: Like we said, the schedule sets up for them to keep the momentum from last year.

[01:15:43] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they should be going into when they go to Kyle Field on the 5th of October.

[01:15:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Definitely should be undefeated.

[01:15:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, absolutely. Yeah.

[01:15:50] [SPEAKER_01]: So I mean, and that could be a big game.

[01:15:53] [SPEAKER_05]: You could argue that they could be maybe even should be undefeated coming to Tuscaloosa.

[01:15:58] [SPEAKER_05]: They might be undefeated going into it.

[01:15:59] [SPEAKER_01]: They very well could be.

[01:16:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Who knows?

[01:16:02] [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, they have the talent to definitely do that.

[01:16:06] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I think the biggest thing is where the defense goes.

[01:16:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they lost some guys at the NFL, lost their defensive coordinator.

[01:16:14] [SPEAKER_01]: That could be the biggest change in Missouri

[01:16:17] [SPEAKER_01]: because I mean, that defense was tough last year.

[01:16:21] [SPEAKER_01]: So but yeah, I mean, I still think they're in a position to be.

[01:16:26] Yeah.

[01:16:28] [SPEAKER_01]: You look at it.

[01:16:31] [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that they very much are right there as far as the title and playoff contender.

[01:16:38] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's what I said.

[01:16:40] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, the SEC is going to be stacked this year.

[01:16:42] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going into the season.

[01:16:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Of course, things can change, as we know.

[01:16:46] [SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, there's a lot of contenders there going into the season that kind of necessarily know it's not just Alabama, Georgia.

[01:16:54] [SPEAKER_01]: No, no.

[01:16:55] [SPEAKER_01]: A lot of teams.

[01:16:57] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, we'll move on to their big eight rival coming in for their first season, the Oklahoma Sooners.

[01:17:05] [SPEAKER_05]: Ten and three last year under Brent Venables.

[01:17:07] [SPEAKER_05]: It's now his third year.

[01:17:11] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, since Lincoln Riley left for USC.

[01:17:15] [SPEAKER_05]: You mentioned their schedule.

[01:17:16] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, we'll get into it.

[01:17:18] [SPEAKER_05]: The conference schedule does the Sooners no favors.

[01:17:22] [SPEAKER_05]: It starts relatively.

[01:17:23] [SPEAKER_05]: It's kind of easy but tricky.

[01:17:25] [SPEAKER_05]: Easy. So they got Temple to start then Houston and Tulane.

[01:17:30] [SPEAKER_05]: That's they're out of conference to start the year.

[01:17:34] [SPEAKER_05]: Temple. Yeah, obviously, definitely win.

[01:17:36] [SPEAKER_05]: Houston bio account should be a win.

[01:17:38] [SPEAKER_05]: Houston's got some talent deficiencies in the buildup.

[01:17:41] [SPEAKER_05]: But Willie Fritz took over the Cougars.

[01:17:44] [SPEAKER_05]: That's a talented coach.

[01:17:45] [SPEAKER_05]: He's a smart coach.

[01:17:47] [SPEAKER_05]: They don't they you know, they don't like the Sooners very much.

[01:17:51] [SPEAKER_05]: They could give them some trouble and then Tulane, the team that Willie Fritz just left.

[01:17:55] [SPEAKER_05]: It's a solid program.

[01:17:57] [SPEAKER_05]: But again, being in Norman, there should be a good three and a start.

[01:18:02] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[01:18:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Then things get fun.

[01:18:06] [SPEAKER_05]: Then Tennessee is your first SEC game.

[01:18:08] [SPEAKER_05]: It's in Norman.

[01:18:08] [SPEAKER_05]: You get to host it.

[01:18:09] [SPEAKER_05]: It's good.

[01:18:10] [SPEAKER_05]: But you know, we'll get to the Vols in just a second.

[01:18:13] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, they're next up.

[01:18:15] [SPEAKER_05]: But that's a team with a lot of hype coming in and your former quarterback is their head coach.

[01:18:19] [SPEAKER_05]: He's going to have some emotions coming.

[01:18:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Coming back and the last person to win the title for all you coming back.

[01:18:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Norman, man, if you don't play, that place is going to be a rock.

[01:18:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, a lot of especially a lot of story.

[01:18:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Remember Josh Hyple got fired as offensive coordinator.

[01:18:37] [SPEAKER_05]: He did.

[01:18:39] [SPEAKER_05]: And then they follow that up by going to Jordan here.

[01:18:42] [SPEAKER_05]: So they get right off the bat, you know, here's your first SEC game.

[01:18:46] [SPEAKER_05]: We'll let you be at home.

[01:18:47] [SPEAKER_05]: It's against a traditional institution.

[01:18:51] [SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, but their head coach by a former quarterback yours.

[01:18:54] [SPEAKER_05]: And then you have to go to Jordan here.

[01:18:57] [SPEAKER_05]: So welcome to the SEC.

[01:18:59] [SPEAKER_05]: There is no better welcome to the SEC than seeing whatever insanity Jordan here has for you.

[01:19:05] [SPEAKER_05]: Then they get a bye.

[01:19:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Especially with the night game.

[01:19:07] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, if it.

[01:19:08] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. Good night.

[01:19:10] [SPEAKER_05]: Just apologize in advance to you sooner fans.

[01:19:13] [SPEAKER_05]: You're not going to like it.

[01:19:14] [SPEAKER_05]: Let's stay there and now especially, you know, Auburn fans might get confused.

[01:19:19] [SPEAKER_05]: They see a team coming in and Crimson and why?

[01:19:22] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, man.

[01:19:27] [SPEAKER_05]: You get a bye week, then you get your Red River shootout and then you host South Carolina.

[01:19:31] [SPEAKER_05]: Then you go to Ole Miss and then get Maine at home.

[01:19:34] [SPEAKER_05]: Nice refresher.

[01:19:35] [SPEAKER_05]: And then you go at Missouri.

[01:19:37] [SPEAKER_05]: And like we mentioned, that's not just a good Missouri team.

[01:19:40] [SPEAKER_05]: That's a road game against an old rival team that doesn't like you.

[01:19:45] [SPEAKER_05]: Then you get another by and then you finish your season in Alabama at home and then on the road at LSU.

[01:19:52] [SPEAKER_05]: So in your first season, the SEC, you do avoid Georgia.

[01:19:58] [SPEAKER_05]: That's about the only positive from that schedule, because other than that, you have to go to Jordan here.

[01:20:03] [SPEAKER_05]: You have to go to Ole Miss and, you know, the most hyped rebel team since Archie Manning was there.

[01:20:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[01:20:11] [SPEAKER_05]: You have to go to Missouri, a really good team who also doesn't like you.

[01:20:16] [SPEAKER_01]: And the very next week you play Alabama.

[01:20:18] [SPEAKER_05]: No, no, they get a bye.

[01:20:19] [SPEAKER_05]: They get a bye before Alabama at least.

[01:20:21] [SPEAKER_01]: No, so.

[01:20:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.

[01:20:23] [SPEAKER_01]: I saw tonight.

[01:20:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[01:20:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[01:20:27] [SPEAKER_05]: But then you end your season in Baton Rouge and Tiger Stadium.

[01:20:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Very next week after that.

[01:20:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.

[01:20:34] [SPEAKER_05]: So yeah, that move.

[01:20:36] [SPEAKER_05]: Do you know favors?

[01:20:37] [SPEAKER_05]: You're breaking in a new quarterback.

[01:20:38] [SPEAKER_05]: Dylan Gabriel transferred to Oregon.

[01:20:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[01:20:45] [SPEAKER_05]: So they do get, you know, it looks like a guy with Jackson Arnold will be their man.

[01:20:51] [SPEAKER_05]: You get Casey Thompson, a son of an old Oklahoma quarterback, Charles Thompson, as in the QB room.

[01:21:02] [SPEAKER_05]: But they have weapons, you know, they have guys that can make some plays and then, you know, their defensive team under Britain Venables.

[01:21:10] [SPEAKER_05]: That's the idea he's trying to craft.

[01:21:14] [SPEAKER_05]: It should be an interesting first season for the Sooners in Oklahoma.

[01:21:18] [SPEAKER_05]: They, you know, they had that really down year and Venables first year, but a great bounce back last year.

[01:21:25] [SPEAKER_05]: Their only losses were, you know, on the road at Kansas, a good Kansas team, you know, probably still should have been them.

[01:21:30] [SPEAKER_05]: But then they lost in Stillwater for the final bedling game for, you know, who knows how long.

[01:21:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Probably should have won that game too.

[01:21:37] [SPEAKER_05]: Probably should have.

[01:21:38] [SPEAKER_05]: I think we all knew that the gods, the football gods weren't going to let them win that.

[01:21:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think that was a crazy game.

[01:21:49] [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I mean, that's the funniest part though.

[01:21:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you know, coming into the SEC, of course, Texas is getting all the hype.

[01:21:59] [SPEAKER_01]: But for the majority of the time, they were in the Big 12.

[01:22:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Year here and there.

[01:22:05] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it was OU's conference.

[01:22:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the Big 12 was OU.

[01:22:08] [SPEAKER_05]: Absolutely.

[01:22:09] [SPEAKER_01]: The amount of big 12 titles that they won.

[01:22:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Playoff appearances, national title appearances.

[01:22:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, they have not won since 2000.

[01:22:19] [SPEAKER_01]: But Bob Stoops was from the long end.

[01:22:22] [SPEAKER_01]: The reason why he's a big game Bob.

[01:22:24] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he got to two national title games.

[01:22:27] [SPEAKER_01]: They got you there.

[01:22:31] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, Lincoln Riley got him to the playoffs a couple of times.

[01:22:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Lost to Georgia, lost to Alabama.

[01:22:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Ray was probably should have won that Georgia game.

[01:22:43] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they were up big in the Rose Bowl that year.

[01:22:48] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, they definitely blew that one.

[01:22:51] [SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, it's not like they had one.

[01:22:59] [SPEAKER_01]: He had to put a patchwork together because I mean, that was just the craziest situation.

[01:23:06] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you don't expect your coach to just up and go like he did.

[01:23:09] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, what they put together was solid.

[01:23:14] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that was just a crazy year.

[01:23:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Hell of a bounce back last year.

[01:23:21] [SPEAKER_01]: No one considers them a contender.

[01:23:23] [SPEAKER_01]: And it may very well be that, you know, that's not allowed them to do that in year one.

[01:23:28] [SPEAKER_01]: But I don't think they're getting their respect or maybe they should.

[01:23:31] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I don't think anybody is like, oh my gosh, OU.

[01:23:34] [SPEAKER_01]: They very well could be a playoff team.

[01:23:36] [SPEAKER_01]: You don't hear that what I can do with Texas.

[01:23:38] [SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, maybe they like that because then, you know,

[01:23:42] [SPEAKER_01]: they definitely have some motivation coming into the SEC for sure.

[01:23:46] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[01:23:48] [SPEAKER_05]: No, yeah.

[01:23:49] [SPEAKER_05]: They got something to prove and, you know,

[01:23:52] [SPEAKER_05]: they want to prove that they're just as capable as being one of the big elite guys

[01:23:58] [SPEAKER_05]: in the conference here as they were in the Big 12.

[01:24:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I mean, that's the biggest thing is, oh, you know,

[01:24:05] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, they've seen them beat SEC teams over the years.

[01:24:09] [SPEAKER_01]: But, yeah, you know, they're good people.

[01:24:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I would say, well, can you can do it 12 weeks in a row?

[01:24:15] [SPEAKER_01]: So that would be the biggest thing.

[01:24:16] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. And now it's your chance to prove it.

[01:24:19] [SPEAKER_05]: Let's move on.

[01:24:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Last team in this tier, team that Oklahoma plays, the Tennessee Volunteers.

[01:24:25] [SPEAKER_05]: Nine and four last year, a little step down from 2022.

[01:24:29] [SPEAKER_05]: Last year, they were kind of like the bad good team.

[01:24:34] [SPEAKER_05]: They lost to on the road at Alabama and Missouri and then lost to Georgia home.

[01:24:40] [SPEAKER_05]: So teams that were better than them and then lost in the swamp to Florida was a bad loss.

[01:24:46] [SPEAKER_05]: They shouldn't have lost to Florida.

[01:24:47] [SPEAKER_05]: But we're lost.

[01:24:49] [SPEAKER_05]: Weird loss.

[01:24:50] [SPEAKER_05]: But they bounced back this year.

[01:24:53] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it's a weird game.

[01:24:55] [SPEAKER_05]: But they come back this year and I think the big all the hype is surrounding Niko.

[01:25:02] [SPEAKER_05]: I am a labor.

[01:25:04] [SPEAKER_05]: I hope I pronounce it right.

[01:25:06] [SPEAKER_05]: He's a redshirt freshman.

[01:25:07] [SPEAKER_05]: He actually did appear in their ballgame last year, played for it and played very well.

[01:25:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Big number and a big win over Iowa.

[01:25:15] [SPEAKER_05]: And you know, he seems if you believe the hype,

[01:25:19] [SPEAKER_05]: he's the perfect quarterback to run Josh Hyples offense, a dual threat guy.

[01:25:22] [SPEAKER_05]: They have they have weapons and the offense, you know,

[01:25:27] [SPEAKER_05]: Broom McCoy is a great receiver.

[01:25:30] [SPEAKER_05]: They're going to be a talented team.

[01:25:33] [SPEAKER_05]: They need to, you know, make some improvements on defense again.

[01:25:37] [SPEAKER_05]: But the schedules, you know, it's there for them.

[01:25:39] [SPEAKER_05]: It's not a horrible schedule.

[01:25:41] [SPEAKER_05]: It's not the easiest.

[01:25:42] [SPEAKER_05]: But, you know, they go Chattanooga neutral site game gets NC State Kent State.

[01:25:47] [SPEAKER_05]: And then they start at Oklahoma by week at Arkansas, Florida.

[01:25:52] [SPEAKER_05]: And Alabama back to back.

[01:25:53] [SPEAKER_05]: So that's a big stretch right there.

[01:25:55] [SPEAKER_05]: Two fierce rivalries back to back.

[01:25:58] [SPEAKER_05]: Another bye week.

[01:25:59] [SPEAKER_05]: And then they host Kentucky, Mississippi State at Georgia, UTEP.

[01:26:05] [SPEAKER_05]: And then finish the season at Vanderbilt.

[01:26:09] [SPEAKER_05]: So it's I think of all the teams in this tier,

[01:26:12] [SPEAKER_05]: they're the team for me that could go either way.

[01:26:16] [SPEAKER_05]: I could absolutely you know, they could beat Alabama home.

[01:26:18] [SPEAKER_05]: We know that they could go on the road to Oklahoma and Arkansas.

[01:26:21] [SPEAKER_05]: And win those games.

[01:26:24] [SPEAKER_05]: If that offense is humming, they could go on the road and beat Georgia, you know?

[01:26:30] [SPEAKER_05]: We haven't really seen Josh Hypple challenge the dogs yet.

[01:26:37] [SPEAKER_05]: But that's probably the litmus set.

[01:26:38] [SPEAKER_05]: But this is a team that's definitely capable when it's in games,

[01:26:41] [SPEAKER_05]: getting into the SEC title game, getting to the playoff.

[01:26:44] [SPEAKER_05]: You agree?

[01:26:45] [SPEAKER_01]: For sure.

[01:26:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[01:26:47] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they're definitely, I mean, yeah.

[01:26:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Like you said, Hypple and anything is well in our ego.

[01:26:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Take me some serious, you know,

[01:26:58] [SPEAKER_01]: we just saw how good offense was two years ago with Hendon Hooker.

[01:27:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Took a step back last year.

[01:27:08] [SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, the Niko, if he runs Hypple's system like people think he's going to run,

[01:27:12] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they could very well be putting up the numbers they put up in 2022,

[01:27:19] [SPEAKER_01]: which is scary in itself because that defense has gotten better since he's gotten there.

[01:27:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Actually, defense was much better than 22's defense.

[01:27:29] [SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, it can very well be a scary team.

[01:27:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Now second game of the year, interesting, NC State.

[01:27:38] [SPEAKER_01]: NC State is my team that people are looking at as a possible ACC contender this year.

[01:27:44] [SPEAKER_01]: So that'll be interesting.

[01:27:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, there's nothing on the schedule, you know, outside of,

[01:27:54] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, I'd say their biggest thing is Alabama.

[01:27:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Even though they won two years ago,

[01:27:59] [SPEAKER_01]: still I've been whipping that blood for the last decade and a half.

[01:28:06] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, let's be honest.

[01:28:10] [SPEAKER_01]: So, I mean, if they're in Tennessee and then, you know,

[01:28:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Tennessee very well could be undefeated, who knows?

[01:28:18] [SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, can you imagine that?

[01:28:21] [SPEAKER_01]: You going in there, defeated at that point of the season?

[01:28:24] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, nailing would be loud.

[01:28:29] [SPEAKER_01]: It'd be a crazy atmosphere.

[01:28:31] [SPEAKER_01]: But that's the stadium.

[01:28:35] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, they've had some down years.

[01:28:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Man, when the walls are hidden and that crowd gets behind them,

[01:28:44] [SPEAKER_01]: man, that's a heck of an atmosphere to be in.

[01:28:49] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, on the banks of the mighty Tennessee River there.

[01:28:53] [SPEAKER_05]: Let's move on to the next tier.

[01:28:57] [SPEAKER_05]: These are teams that they can beat anybody in the conference on any given day.

[01:29:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Talented teams that maybe something's holding them back,

[01:29:05] [SPEAKER_05]: a schedule or a youth or just, you know, something hasn't really clicked for them.

[01:29:12] [SPEAKER_05]: Not really a threat to win the SEC,

[01:29:15] [SPEAKER_05]: but also teams that if everything breaks right, then yeah, they have talent.

[01:29:19] [SPEAKER_05]: Maybe they could make a run to the title game

[01:29:21] [SPEAKER_05]: or at least be a game or two away from finishing the upper half of the standings.

[01:29:26] [SPEAKER_05]: I have Kentucky, Texas A&M, Florida and South Carolina.

[01:29:32] [SPEAKER_05]: Those are tough to come to these.

[01:29:37] [SPEAKER_05]: But let's start with Texas A&M.

[01:29:41] [SPEAKER_05]: New coach, you know, they finally got rid of Jimbo.

[01:29:45] [SPEAKER_05]: Bring in Mike Elko from Duke.

[01:29:48] [SPEAKER_05]: He's a former coach at A&M. He knows the job.

[01:29:55] [SPEAKER_05]: Talented team, you know, Jimbo recruited well.

[01:29:58] [SPEAKER_05]: They never had a problem there.

[01:30:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Never had talent.

[01:30:04] [SPEAKER_05]: Schedule wise, yeah, great heck of a coach.

[01:30:08] [SPEAKER_05]: He's got some players there. Connor Wegman, highly thought of quarterback.

[01:30:13] [SPEAKER_01]: I just hope he can stay healthy.

[01:30:15] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that's the key for their offense. He's got to stay healthy.

[01:30:18] [SPEAKER_05]: They've got to protect them. They need to find some playmakers.

[01:30:26] [SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, it's there for them.

[01:30:27] [SPEAKER_05]: Schedule wise, you know, they start a good neutral game against Notre Dame.

[01:30:34] [SPEAKER_05]: They host Notre Dame.

[01:30:36] [SPEAKER_01]: They host Notre Dame.

[01:30:37] [SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be huge.

[01:30:38] [SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be a heck of a way to start the year.

[01:30:43] [SPEAKER_01]: They can get that from, I mean, that'd be huge.

[01:30:46] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Notre Dame coming in number seven.

[01:30:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that stadium is going to be rocking.

[01:30:53] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's a night game too.

[01:30:55] [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, it's going to be a good time in Caulfield to start the year.

[01:30:59] [SPEAKER_01]: They can start off 1-0.

[01:31:00] [SPEAKER_01]: That's really going to be a heck of a start for the Mike Elko era.

[01:31:07] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that's huge.

[01:31:09] [SPEAKER_05]: Then they get McNeese next week.

[01:31:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Then they go at Florida, then Bowling Green, Arkansas at home or in Arlington.

[01:31:16] [SPEAKER_05]: They still play that one in Cowboy Stadium.

[01:31:19] [SPEAKER_05]: Missouri comes to Caulfield.

[01:31:22] [SPEAKER_05]: Then they get a bye.

[01:31:24] [SPEAKER_05]: Then at Mississippi State, LSU at South Carolina.

[01:31:27] [SPEAKER_05]: Then another bye.

[01:31:28] [SPEAKER_05]: They finish with New Mexico State at Auburn and then, of course, the big one, Texas.

[01:31:35] [SPEAKER_05]: So you know that schedule, it's there for them.

[01:31:37] [SPEAKER_05]: They can make some moves there.

[01:31:41] [SPEAKER_05]: It's a tricky early slate.

[01:31:43] [SPEAKER_05]: You could start out 1-2, lost to Notre Dame, lost in the swamp at Florida.

[01:31:48] [SPEAKER_05]: Or you could get two really big wins for a first year coach.

[01:31:52] [SPEAKER_05]: And you can have some momentum.

[01:31:54] [SPEAKER_05]: They're definitely a team that could go either way for me.

[01:31:59] [SPEAKER_01]: For sure.

[01:32:01] [SPEAKER_05]: You got anything else for them?

[01:32:05] [SPEAKER_01]: I think the biggest pressure for the Aggies is the fact that not only is Texas coming off a playoff appearance,

[01:32:18] [SPEAKER_01]: but now you play Texas every year.

[01:32:21] [SPEAKER_01]: So you can't say that thing anymore.

[01:32:24] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, times when Texas are bread and egg but you're in the big 12s.

[01:32:28] [SPEAKER_01]: We're not playing the same type of competition.

[01:32:37] [SPEAKER_01]: You're in the same conference.

[01:32:40] [SPEAKER_01]: And if Texas does what many people think Texas is going to do,

[01:32:47] [SPEAKER_01]: come into the SEC and make the playoff in their first year.

[01:32:51] [SPEAKER_01]: And you've been in the SEC for over a decade now.

[01:32:56] [SPEAKER_01]: You haven't made an SEC championship game.

[01:32:58] [SPEAKER_01]: You have not made a playoff.

[01:33:02] [SPEAKER_01]: It's going to become an absolute, you know, might be the guy that's trying to take it around.

[01:33:08] [SPEAKER_01]: But there's going to be a lot of pressure on it, man, if Texas performs up to a certain level and you guys don't.

[01:33:16] [SPEAKER_01]: That's pressure on itself.

[01:33:17] [SPEAKER_01]: People say that Carolyn DeBoer is under a lot of pressure.

[01:33:22] [SPEAKER_01]: But I think with how crazy the Aggie fan base is, if things go bad quickly and Texas has immediate success in the SEC,

[01:33:32] [SPEAKER_01]: then you get ugly.

[01:33:33] [SPEAKER_01]: So hopefully you don't see that.

[01:33:35] [SPEAKER_01]: But that's just something to watch out for.

[01:33:39] [SPEAKER_05]: No, yeah, you're absolutely right.

[01:33:41] [SPEAKER_05]: There's very little mulligans in the SEC.

[01:33:48] [SPEAKER_05]: Let's move on to Kentucky.

[01:33:51] [SPEAKER_05]: The Wildcats, a lot of people thought maybe they were going to lose their coach to A&M.

[01:33:56] [SPEAKER_05]: But Mark Stoops is still in Lexington.

[01:33:58] [SPEAKER_05]: This will be his 12th season.

[01:34:00] [SPEAKER_05]: They're coming off back-to-back seven and six seasons.

[01:34:03] [SPEAKER_05]: A little disappointing for them, kind of the expectations they set for themselves.

[01:34:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because I think last year was the year that people really thought Kentucky was going to make some noise.

[01:34:16] [SPEAKER_01]: It didn't work out.

[01:34:18] [SPEAKER_01]: They had a lot of injuries.

[01:34:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Their quarterback transfer didn't work out as people thought it would.

[01:34:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I can't think of his name, from NC State though.

[01:34:29] [SPEAKER_05]: Leary.

[01:34:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[01:34:33] [SPEAKER_01]: I think he really didn't fit the system.

[01:34:36] [SPEAKER_01]: He was just the biggest name, so they took the biggest name.

[01:34:39] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he really fit the Kentucky system per se.

[01:34:43] [SPEAKER_01]: This year, they got a transfer from Georgia.

[01:34:47] [SPEAKER_01]: The guy seems to be a talented guy, just kind of behind a lot of talented people.

[01:34:53] [SPEAKER_05]: Former five-star, right?

[01:34:56] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, Brock Vandergriff.

[01:34:59] [SPEAKER_05]: He is a very talented kid.

[01:35:02] [SPEAKER_05]: We'll see if it translates.

[01:35:03] [SPEAKER_05]: He'll come in and see if he can steer that offense in the right direction.

[01:35:09] [SPEAKER_05]: They got to get back to you, I'll be Kentucky, and just ground and pound, play tough defense.

[01:35:14] [SPEAKER_01]: That's what I mean.

[01:35:15] [SPEAKER_01]: That's a god-suit to be a winning coach.

[01:35:20] [SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't flashy.

[01:35:21] [SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't pretty, but you knew you were in a game with Kentucky.

[01:35:27] [SPEAKER_01]: It was physical.

[01:35:28] [SPEAKER_01]: The only time that they didn't work, where that didn't work of course, was against Georgia.

[01:35:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Because Georgia's game prior as well, they just had a five-star team.

[01:35:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Outside of that, they were able to beat Florida three years in a row after a 20-some year fall-off.

[01:35:51] [SPEAKER_01]: It was 28 years after they lost to Florida, and they overcome that obstacle.

[01:35:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, if there's a time for Kentucky football to really shine, it's now.

[01:36:06] [SPEAKER_01]: The basketball program has been a new transition.

[01:36:11] [SPEAKER_01]: If there's a time for them to really...

[01:36:15] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, no more John Calipari in the athletic department.

[01:36:19] [SPEAKER_05]: He's moved, so that kind of drama you hope is over if you're a Kentucky fan.

[01:36:25] [SPEAKER_05]: The schedule...

[01:36:27] [SPEAKER_05]: Not the hardest thing in the world.

[01:36:29] [SPEAKER_05]: They get Southern Miss, South Carolina, Georgia, Ohio at Ole Miss.

[01:36:36] [SPEAKER_05]: Then a bye, then Vandy at Florida, Auburn at Tennessee.

[01:36:40] [SPEAKER_05]: Another bye, then finish with Murray State at Texas Louisville.

[01:36:44] [SPEAKER_05]: There's tough ones. It's a tough road slate.

[01:36:48] [SPEAKER_05]: But you avoid Alabama, LSU, Missouri.

[01:36:53] [SPEAKER_05]: It's there.

[01:36:56] [SPEAKER_05]: I think if you're looking as a Kentucky fan, you want to see...

[01:37:01] [SPEAKER_05]: Hopefully you get Van der Graaf as the real deal.

[01:37:04] [SPEAKER_05]: Then you hope that you best the totals of last year.

[01:37:07] [SPEAKER_05]: You hope that you get maybe eight and four, maybe nine and three seasons out of it.

[01:37:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[01:37:14] [SPEAKER_01]: There are certain games you can't...

[01:37:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Obviously you hope it be Southern Miss.

[01:37:19] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm a quick one.

[01:37:21] [SPEAKER_01]: That way too...

[01:37:24] [SPEAKER_01]: South Carolina comes to town, and that's an interesting game.

[01:37:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Because you don't know where...

[01:37:29] [SPEAKER_01]: We don't know what South Carolina is going to be at all.

[01:37:36] [SPEAKER_01]: It'll be interesting to see what they do there.

[01:37:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Then early...

[01:37:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Georgia early in the year, but it is in Lexington.

[01:37:43] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and if you're going to catch them, catch them early.

[01:37:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Catch them early.

[01:37:49] [SPEAKER_05]: Don't let them get rolling.

[01:37:51] [SPEAKER_05]: Don't let them figure things out.

[01:37:53] [SPEAKER_05]: That could be a huge launching pad for that.

[01:37:56] [SPEAKER_05]: But even if...

[01:37:59] [SPEAKER_05]: You do hope if you're a Kentucky fan, it'd be huge if you could go to Oxford 4-0 obviously.

[01:38:04] [SPEAKER_05]: But at 3-1...

[01:38:09] [SPEAKER_05]: It's tough because you could have two losses after September.

[01:38:13] [SPEAKER_05]: Then you really got to play on the edge for the rest of the season.

[01:38:20] [SPEAKER_05]: Like I said, I think if they can get to eight wins it's a successful year for them.

[01:38:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that is.

[01:38:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Because...

[01:38:28] [SPEAKER_01]: The teams I see them losing to...

[01:38:32] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't see them beating Texas and Austin.

[01:38:34] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't see them winning at Tennessee.

[01:38:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Toss-up game with Auburn.

[01:38:41] [SPEAKER_01]: It's in Lexington and who knows?

[01:38:45] [SPEAKER_01]: You know that...

[01:38:47] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't see them winning. I don't see them winning Georgia.

[01:38:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Kentucky, Florida.

[01:38:52] [SPEAKER_01]: It's in the swamp.

[01:38:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Kentucky's won three in a row.

[01:38:55] [SPEAKER_01]: It'll be interesting.

[01:38:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but you know this year they can go eight and four.

[01:38:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Great worst-case scenario.

[01:39:01] [SPEAKER_01]: You would hope no worse than seven and five just for their...

[01:39:06] [SPEAKER_01]: They do have some interesting games on the schedule.

[01:39:10] [SPEAKER_01]: But I mean they could beat a big dog.

[01:39:14] [SPEAKER_01]: It just depends.

[01:39:14] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if I'd necessarily believe in it right now.

[01:39:17] [SPEAKER_01]: I'd have to see it.

[01:39:18] [SPEAKER_01]: But if there's anybody that's going to at least get back to what they were two years ago.

[01:39:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Me, Mark Stoopsons.

[01:39:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Then I'd hell with driving like that.

[01:39:26] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and who knows?

[01:39:27] [SPEAKER_05]: Maybe Vandegraaff has something to...

[01:39:30] [SPEAKER_05]: Griff has something to prove against his old team.

[01:39:33] [SPEAKER_05]: Let's move on.

[01:39:34] [SPEAKER_05]: You mentioned South Carolina in there.

[01:39:37] [SPEAKER_05]: They were the team I really struggled when I was doing the tiers.

[01:39:40] [SPEAKER_05]: If I should put them at the bottom or this.

[01:39:44] [SPEAKER_05]: Them or Auburn came down to it.

[01:39:45] [SPEAKER_05]: I'll explain that when I get there.

[01:39:48] [SPEAKER_05]: But like you said, the biggest thing with them is we just don't know where we're getting.

[01:39:52] [SPEAKER_05]: No more...

[01:39:54] [SPEAKER_05]: What's his name?

[01:39:55] [SPEAKER_05]: Norris Spencer-Rattler at quarterback.

[01:39:57] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, they've lost...

[01:39:59] [SPEAKER_01]: We got Robbie Ashford.

[01:40:01] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that could be.

[01:40:03] [SPEAKER_05]: He's there.

[01:40:04] [SPEAKER_05]: We'll see if he's the starter.

[01:40:06] [SPEAKER_05]: The guy or not.

[01:40:09] [SPEAKER_05]: But you know, Biola Council, this is a program.

[01:40:12] [SPEAKER_05]: They've recruited well.

[01:40:14] [SPEAKER_05]: They play defense well.

[01:40:15] [SPEAKER_05]: They need to beat it better.

[01:40:18] [SPEAKER_05]: But it's some Beamer ball.

[01:40:21] [SPEAKER_05]: A lot of people are excited about him there.

[01:40:23] [SPEAKER_05]: I think he's coming into his fourth season.

[01:40:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[01:40:28] [SPEAKER_01]: I think this is the kind of year when he has to show something.

[01:40:32] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, because he's gone seven and six, eight and five, and five and seven last year.

[01:40:36] [SPEAKER_05]: A little disappointing.

[01:40:37] [SPEAKER_05]: But we saw a couple years ago that they're capable of beating the big guys.

[01:40:41] [SPEAKER_05]: They beat Tennessee.

[01:40:42] [SPEAKER_05]: They went into Clemson to beat them.

[01:40:45] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they house Tennessee.

[01:40:48] [SPEAKER_01]: They were housing the beforehand guy.

[01:40:50] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, so this is a team that can do it if anything holds them back.

[01:40:56] [SPEAKER_05]: They have a tough schedule.

[01:40:57] [SPEAKER_05]: They get Old Dominion to start, then at Kentucky, LSU, Akron, Abai, Ole Miss, at Alabama, at Oklahoma.

[01:41:05] [SPEAKER_05]: That stretch right there, that's brutal.

[01:41:07] [SPEAKER_05]: That's just brutal.

[01:41:10] [SPEAKER_05]: Then they get Abai after Oklahoma, then they host A&M, at Vandy, Missouri, Walford, and then at Clemson again.

[01:41:19] [SPEAKER_01]: It's a very tough schedule.

[01:41:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, but I think if you're looking there, if they can get to six win, that's a win mark, get back to a bowl game.

[01:41:27] [SPEAKER_05]: That's probably good for them.

[01:41:30] [SPEAKER_05]: That is a brutal schedule.

[01:41:32] [SPEAKER_05]: It's brutal, yeah.

[01:41:33] [SPEAKER_05]: It's a very brutal schedule.

[01:41:37] [SPEAKER_05]: But I think they're also a team that they can improve, and I think they might surprise a few people.

[01:41:43] [SPEAKER_05]: I think they could get an upset somewhere.

[01:41:46] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, last year they had a lot of injuries.

[01:41:49] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, they did. That's true.

[01:41:52] [SPEAKER_01]: They couldn't stay healthy.

[01:41:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I think a lot of people have a lot of hype.

[01:41:57] [SPEAKER_01]: I know, I did. I thought South Carolina was going to be a heck of a team last year.

[01:42:01] [SPEAKER_01]: They ended that one and two season so great with a big win against Tennessee,

[01:42:07] [SPEAKER_01]: and then the big comeback against Clemson, and then big expectations.

[01:42:13] [SPEAKER_01]: And then last year, that first game of the year, they made North Carolina defense the top knots

[01:42:20] [SPEAKER_01]: where they gave away 30 sacks.

[01:42:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Spencer Radler couldn't have time to do anything.

[01:42:26] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it was rough.

[01:42:27] [SPEAKER_01]: It kind of fell off from there.

[01:42:28] [SPEAKER_05]: They gave them nine sacks. They were sacked nine times.

[01:42:32] [SPEAKER_03]: It is, yeah.

[01:42:34] [SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, no.

[01:42:35] [SPEAKER_05]: We mentioned they lose Spencer Radler.

[01:42:37] [SPEAKER_05]: They lose the receiver.

[01:42:39] [SPEAKER_05]: They lose a lot of receiver production. Xavier Leggett, they're all go-to receiver.

[01:42:46] [SPEAKER_05]: They lose their top rushers, but they get Rocket Sanders, a transfer coming in from Arkansas.

[01:42:51] [SPEAKER_05]: That's a big get.

[01:42:52] [SPEAKER_05]: Arkansas, that's a big get.

[01:42:55] [SPEAKER_05]: I think it's there for them.

[01:42:56] [SPEAKER_05]: I think it's there for them to get to a bowl game, back to a bowl game.

[01:42:59] [SPEAKER_05]: So that's why I have them in this third tier.

[01:43:02] [SPEAKER_05]: They're capable and I think Shane Beamer is going to be a really good coach.

[01:43:07] [SPEAKER_01]: And they said watch out about, what's his name, Nick Nape.

[01:43:13] [SPEAKER_01]: The dude did run his track as well.

[01:43:16] [SPEAKER_01]: And people have been hyping him up for his stats on the college football game.

[01:43:22] [SPEAKER_01]: But he has speed. He's a big dude.

[01:43:26] [SPEAKER_01]: So I mean, watch it.

[01:43:27] [SPEAKER_01]: It could be a name to watch out for. Nick Harbers.

[01:43:30] [SPEAKER_05]: Nick Harbers, yeah. Big dude. 6'5", 242. That's a big receiver.

[01:43:33] [SPEAKER_01]: And he has speed like no other.

[01:43:37] [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, let's move to that.

[01:43:38] [SPEAKER_01]: He has a 99 speed and acceleration.

[01:43:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh boy. Love getting those guys. Love getting those guys.

[01:43:45] [SPEAKER_05]: Let's move to the last tier.

[01:43:48] [SPEAKER_05]: These teams are just, to me, no shot at winning the SEC.

[01:43:51] [SPEAKER_05]: Don't really scare many people.

[01:43:52] [SPEAKER_05]: Sure they could pull off an upset because the SEC is the SEC, but don't put your money on any of these teams is what I'm saying.

[01:44:02] [SPEAKER_05]: So it's Vandy, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Auburn.

[01:44:05] [SPEAKER_05]: Let's start with the Tigers.

[01:44:08] [SPEAKER_05]: The biggest reason I have them here, I think, you know, they've obviously recruited well under Hugh Freeze, past could be all seasons.

[01:44:17] [SPEAKER_05]: They still have Jarcoez Hunter, you know, one of the fastest guys, speaking of speed, you know, one of the fastest guys in the country.

[01:44:25] [SPEAKER_05]: But they also still have Peyton Thorn as a quarterback.

[01:44:28] [SPEAKER_05]: And I just have not seen it from him.

[01:44:30] [SPEAKER_05]: Nothing about him.

[01:44:32] [SPEAKER_05]: And if you talk to Auburn fans, none of them are truly excited that he's back either.

[01:44:37] [SPEAKER_05]: They're very disappointed they didn't get someone in the transfer portal.

[01:44:44] [SPEAKER_01]: The weird thing is, I thought for sure they were going to go out to somebody and transfer quarter.

[01:44:51] [SPEAKER_01]: But Hugh Freeze really seems to believe in Peyton Thorn.

[01:44:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if that's scary for us or makes him look dumb.

[01:44:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.

[01:45:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Has he developed that much?

[01:45:03] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't know.

[01:45:05] [SPEAKER_05]: And then it's the other thing about that is too, it's a tough schedule for them.

[01:45:12] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, it starts out easy enough.

[01:45:14] [SPEAKER_05]: You get Alabama A&M, Cal, New Mexico, Arkansas.

[01:45:19] [SPEAKER_05]: Cal gave them everything they wanted.

[01:45:21] [SPEAKER_05]: That's true, that's true.

[01:45:22] [SPEAKER_05]: But that was in Berkeley.

[01:45:24] [SPEAKER_05]: Cal, I remember watching the end of that game.

[01:45:27] [SPEAKER_05]: Cal had 17 chances to win that and just handed it back to Auburn.

[01:45:31] [SPEAKER_05]: They should have won that game.

[01:45:33] [SPEAKER_05]: But then, you know, hey, it comes back around.

[01:45:35] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, Auburn probably should have won the Iron Ball.

[01:45:38] [SPEAKER_05]: But then Jaylen Milroy happened.

[01:45:42] [SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, so that's their first five games.

[01:45:45] [SPEAKER_05]: Four games.

[01:45:46] [SPEAKER_05]: You could easily see them start in 4-0.

[01:45:49] [SPEAKER_05]: Then that's where it gets hard.

[01:45:50] [SPEAKER_05]: Then Oklahoma comes to Jordan here.

[01:45:53] [SPEAKER_05]: And then the very next week you have to go to Georgia.

[01:45:57] [SPEAKER_05]: Then they get a bye week.

[01:45:58] [SPEAKER_05]: And coming off the bye, they go at Missouri, then at Kentucky.

[01:46:02] [SPEAKER_05]: Then they host Vanderbilt.

[01:46:03] [SPEAKER_05]: So come back down, a bye week.

[01:46:05] [SPEAKER_05]: They get UL Monroe.

[01:46:07] [SPEAKER_05]: And then their last two games, they host Texas A&M.

[01:46:10] [SPEAKER_05]: And then they have to play in Tuscaloosa for the Iron Ball,

[01:46:12] [SPEAKER_05]: which Tuscaloosa has not been a friendly place for them for the past decade.

[01:46:17] [SPEAKER_05]: No, since 2010.

[01:46:19] [SPEAKER_05]: Since 2010, yeah.

[01:46:20] [SPEAKER_05]: And that was it.

[01:46:23] [SPEAKER_05]: And they don't...

[01:46:23] [SPEAKER_05]: And Peyton Thorne is not Cam Newton.

[01:46:26] [SPEAKER_05]: No, he's not.

[01:46:28] No, not.

[01:46:29] [SPEAKER_05]: Obviously, you know, with the Hugh Frees offense,

[01:46:32] [SPEAKER_05]: they have a chance to maybe improve a lot.

[01:46:35] [SPEAKER_05]: But that schedule and the limitations, I think, of Peyton Thorne

[01:46:38] [SPEAKER_05]: and who's going to...

[01:46:40] [SPEAKER_05]: They've got to have one of these freshmen.

[01:46:42] [SPEAKER_05]: They've got to have somebody step up as a receiver.

[01:46:49] [SPEAKER_01]: In fact, everybody's hyping Cam Coleman, the freshmen.

[01:46:53] [SPEAKER_01]: But he's still freshman.

[01:46:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Still a lot of hype.

[01:46:55] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like we're hyping our guy.

[01:46:57] [SPEAKER_01]: We're hyping Ryan Williams.

[01:46:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Both of those guys, they're freshmen.

[01:47:03] [SPEAKER_01]: They're growing.

[01:47:04] [SPEAKER_01]: They're learning.

[01:47:05] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[01:47:05] [SPEAKER_05]: And they played the big teams on their schedule tough last year.

[01:47:09] [SPEAKER_05]: They only lost by seven to Georgia.

[01:47:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Would it be Georgia?

[01:47:14] [SPEAKER_01]: It should be us, honestly.

[01:47:15] [SPEAKER_01]: We love it.

[01:47:17] [SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, obviously, the fact that we had to go

[01:47:20] [SPEAKER_01]: 4-31 on a miracle play to beat them shows just how dire

[01:47:24] [SPEAKER_01]: a situation we were in.

[01:47:25] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, exactly.

[01:47:26] [SPEAKER_05]: And you know, it's that Jordan Hare magic.

[01:47:30] [SPEAKER_05]: They only lost by a touchdown to Ole Miss in Jordan Hare.

[01:47:33] [SPEAKER_05]: So I think that's the big thing.

[01:47:35] [SPEAKER_05]: Now, it flips around and pretty much all of their big

[01:47:37] [SPEAKER_05]: games are on the road this year.

[01:47:38] [SPEAKER_05]: So that's, you know, they do get Oklahoma at home.

[01:47:41] [SPEAKER_05]: They do get A&M at home.

[01:47:43] [SPEAKER_05]: But that's, you know, just don't see them with the

[01:47:47] [SPEAKER_05]: limitations of Peyton Thorn really making too much noise.

[01:47:51] [SPEAKER_05]: And also with the Hugh Freeze hype, I probably said it

[01:47:54] [SPEAKER_05]: last year when he was hired.

[01:47:56] [SPEAKER_05]: I'll say it before.

[01:47:58] [SPEAKER_05]: I'll say it again.

[01:47:59] [SPEAKER_05]: This isn't 2014 or 2015 Ole Miss.

[01:48:02] [SPEAKER_05]: And even then, he still didn't even win the division

[01:48:04] [SPEAKER_05]: with them.

[01:48:05] [SPEAKER_01]: So did you see comments from like a couple weeks going

[01:48:09] [SPEAKER_01]: there?

[01:48:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I should be an X-A-B-A-4-10.

[01:48:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.

[01:48:12] [SPEAKER_05]: That's all that it's like, well, first of all, you

[01:48:15] [SPEAKER_05]: needed just every damn bounce to go your way in that

[01:48:18] [SPEAKER_05]: 2015 game.

[01:48:19] [SPEAKER_05]: Then you blew it 21.

[01:48:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[01:48:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, you still blew that 21 point lead that 2016

[01:48:24] [SPEAKER_05]: season.

[01:48:26] [SPEAKER_01]: We can say a lot of things.

[01:48:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Really said like that's what you so yeah.

[01:48:32] [SPEAKER_01]: So you know, at the end of the day, pretty much I

[01:48:37] [SPEAKER_01]: live to beat our saving, which we expect from

[01:48:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Auburn.

[01:48:43] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's just what they do.

[01:48:45] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, their thing is to beat up me fits

[01:48:47] [SPEAKER_01]: perfectly for that.

[01:48:49] [SPEAKER_01]: But bro, don't you did you want to fall into

[01:48:53] [SPEAKER_01]: the stereo type?

[01:48:55] [SPEAKER_05]: And also Nick Samuels retired.

[01:48:57] [SPEAKER_05]: So who cares what you almost should have could

[01:48:59] [SPEAKER_05]: have what you didn't.

[01:49:00] [SPEAKER_05]: And you also you've lost in New Mexico State two

[01:49:03] [SPEAKER_05]: times in a row.

[01:49:04] [SPEAKER_05]: And guess what?

[01:49:05] [SPEAKER_05]: Their quarterback transferred to who did he

[01:49:08] [SPEAKER_05]: transfer to because he's going to play him again

[01:49:09] [SPEAKER_05]: this year.

[01:49:13] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, man.

[01:49:14] [SPEAKER_05]: And who did he transfer to one of these SEC

[01:49:17] [SPEAKER_05]: teams?

[01:49:19] [SPEAKER_05]: And I'm Vande.

[01:49:19] [SPEAKER_05]: I think he's the Vanderbilt quarterback now

[01:49:21] [SPEAKER_05]: maybe.

[01:49:23] [SPEAKER_05]: I'll have to look that up when we get there.

[01:49:25] [SPEAKER_05]: Let me see.

[01:49:26] [SPEAKER_01]: But he the other the other interesting thing

[01:49:29] [SPEAKER_01]: they do play another New Mexico team this year.

[01:49:32] [SPEAKER_01]: It's the Lobos.

[01:49:32] [SPEAKER_01]: It is the same.

[01:49:35] [SPEAKER_01]: But they do interesting things with the New

[01:49:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Mexico team.

[01:49:39] [SPEAKER_01]: And now this fire won't have any effect on

[01:49:41] [SPEAKER_01]: that game.

[01:49:41] [SPEAKER_01]: But in general, they did get Bronco Mendenhall

[01:49:44] [SPEAKER_01]: coach now.

[01:49:45] [SPEAKER_05]: So they'll be a better coach team than they

[01:49:48] [SPEAKER_05]: have been.

[01:49:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[01:49:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[01:49:50] [SPEAKER_05]: But it is Vanderbilt where what's his name?

[01:49:53] [SPEAKER_05]: The quarterback from New Mexico State.

[01:49:57] [SPEAKER_05]: Diego Pavia.

[01:50:00] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[01:50:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[01:50:02] [SPEAKER_05]: He will.

[01:50:03] [SPEAKER_05]: This will actually be the chance for him

[01:50:06] [SPEAKER_05]: personally to beat Hugh Freeze for a third

[01:50:09] [SPEAKER_05]: straight because he beat them when he's at

[01:50:10] [SPEAKER_05]: Liberty.

[01:50:13] [SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, that's my thing on Auburn this

[01:50:15] [SPEAKER_05]: year.

[01:50:16] [SPEAKER_05]: And I was always happy to see that the

[01:50:18] [SPEAKER_05]: Iron Bowl is in Tuscaloosa.

[01:50:20] [SPEAKER_05]: We'll go with Arkansas next.

[01:50:24] [SPEAKER_05]: It's just a team in transition.

[01:50:27] [SPEAKER_05]: I think Sam Pittman's kind of you know

[01:50:29] [SPEAKER_05]: he's got to prove it this year.

[01:50:32] [SPEAKER_05]: His fifth season there by all accounts,

[01:50:34] [SPEAKER_05]: they love him and he did make some strides

[01:50:36] [SPEAKER_05]: but it feels like they took a step back

[01:50:38] [SPEAKER_05]: last year, maybe even the year before.

[01:50:40] [SPEAKER_05]: And then the biggest thing, they lose KJ

[01:50:42] [SPEAKER_05]: Jefferson and Rocket Sanders.

[01:50:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Two talented guys.

[01:50:46] [SPEAKER_05]: Two talented guys that were pretty much

[01:50:48] [SPEAKER_05]: their identity on offense.

[01:50:52] [SPEAKER_05]: So he's got a...

[01:50:54] [SPEAKER_01]: New Mexico is bad.

[01:50:57] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean they feel horrible last year.

[01:50:59] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, four and eight season.

[01:51:01] [SPEAKER_05]: A lot of tough losses too.

[01:51:03] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, touchdown loss to BYU,

[01:51:06] [SPEAKER_05]: a three point loss to LSU,

[01:51:09] [SPEAKER_05]: seven point loss to Ole Miss,

[01:51:11] [SPEAKER_05]: three point loss to us.

[01:51:14] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, a seven to...

[01:51:16] [SPEAKER_05]: It was a weird game.

[01:51:17] [SPEAKER_05]: A seven to three loss to Mississippi State.

[01:51:23] [SPEAKER_00]: They beat Florida.

[01:51:24] [SPEAKER_05]: They beat Florida.

[01:51:24] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, they turn around and go to the

[01:51:26] [SPEAKER_05]: Swamp, beat Florida and then the next

[01:51:28] [SPEAKER_05]: week get blown out at home by Auburn.

[01:51:31] [SPEAKER_05]: So just a weird year, but a lot of

[01:51:34] [SPEAKER_05]: close losses so this is a team that

[01:51:35] [SPEAKER_05]: has that in them.

[01:51:38] [SPEAKER_05]: It's up to if Sam Pittman can get it

[01:51:40] [SPEAKER_05]: out of them or not.

[01:51:44] [SPEAKER_05]: So you know, again, I think you're

[01:51:47] [SPEAKER_05]: hoping to get back to that at least

[01:51:49] [SPEAKER_05]: six win mark if you're a Hogg fan

[01:51:51] [SPEAKER_05]: and get back into the bowl season.

[01:51:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Because the biggest thing is it seems

[01:51:56] [SPEAKER_01]: like Sam Pittman is on break right now.

[01:51:59] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it is definitely like I said,

[01:52:01] [SPEAKER_05]: I think this is make or break year

[01:52:02] [SPEAKER_05]: for him especially without...

[01:52:03] [SPEAKER_05]: It's like alright, how much of that

[01:52:05] [SPEAKER_05]: was KJ Jefferson and Rocket Sanders

[01:52:07] [SPEAKER_05]: when you did have your success?

[01:52:09] [SPEAKER_05]: Are you ready to improve with

[01:52:15] [SPEAKER_05]: producing, develop the guys behind

[01:52:17] [SPEAKER_05]: them and their schedule, you know,

[01:52:21] [SPEAKER_05]: it's so-so.

[01:52:22] [SPEAKER_05]: It's Arkansas Plinebuff the star at

[01:52:24] [SPEAKER_05]: Oklahoma State and an interesting

[01:52:26] [SPEAKER_05]: conference game.

[01:52:28] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, Stillwater is a tough place to play.

[01:52:30] [SPEAKER_05]: Then they host UAB at Auburn,

[01:52:33] [SPEAKER_05]: the Texas A&M game, host Tennessee

[01:52:36] [SPEAKER_05]: by week then they host LSU at

[01:52:40] [SPEAKER_05]: Mississippi State, host Ole Miss

[01:52:43] [SPEAKER_05]: by week, host Texas, La Tech and

[01:52:45] [SPEAKER_05]: then at Missouri.

[01:52:47] [SPEAKER_05]: So you see their biggest games

[01:52:49] [SPEAKER_05]: are all coming.

[01:52:50] [SPEAKER_05]: It is very tough, but all those big

[01:52:51] [SPEAKER_05]: games are coming to Fayetteville.

[01:52:55] [SPEAKER_05]: So yeah, it's...

[01:52:57] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean when Fayetteville gets

[01:53:00] [SPEAKER_01]: rocking, I will say that.

[01:53:03] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean they have a great home.

[01:53:05] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean they're great families in general.

[01:53:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean winter a little bit.

[01:53:10] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and you have some family ties

[01:53:13] [SPEAKER_05]: to the Hogs right?

[01:53:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, my mom went to Arkansas.

[01:53:19] [SPEAKER_01]: She's a big Hog family.

[01:53:23] [SPEAKER_01]: She's trying to get my daughter to go.

[01:53:26] [SPEAKER_00]: You don't necessarily have to go to Alabama.

[01:53:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's move out there.

[01:53:31] [SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, but you know the

[01:53:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Arkansas team, I mean definitely your transition.

[01:53:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Obviously he realizes that

[01:53:40] [SPEAKER_01]: he needed to get a better offense in there.

[01:53:44] [SPEAKER_01]: So Patrino, Rodin Patrino,

[01:53:47] [SPEAKER_01]: which in a way is kind of dangerous

[01:53:49] [SPEAKER_01]: because you have to thank him.

[01:53:51] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, trying to get back in as a coach.

[01:53:54] [SPEAKER_01]: How's that going to go?

[01:53:56] [SPEAKER_01]: But I mean he's a very likeable coach.

[01:54:00] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean he's probably one of my favorite

[01:54:01] [SPEAKER_01]: personalities in the FTC.

[01:54:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Sam Pittman is kind of an old shucks type of guy.

[01:54:08] [SPEAKER_01]: You want to get a cold beer with him.

[01:54:10] [SPEAKER_01]: But I mean it's really his personality.

[01:54:16] [SPEAKER_01]: You would like to see him succeed,

[01:54:17] [SPEAKER_01]: but I mean that's a tough, tough schedule.

[01:54:20] [SPEAKER_01]: You know they're in transition.

[01:54:23] [SPEAKER_01]: You know if they get to six,

[01:54:24] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean they've done a hell of a job honestly.

[01:54:26] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, no it would be a hell of a coaching job

[01:54:29] [SPEAKER_05]: if they get back to a bolt.

[01:54:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah because I mean you look at their schedule

[01:54:33] [SPEAKER_01]: and really, I mean

[01:54:40] [SPEAKER_01]: outside of that,

[01:54:44] [SPEAKER_01]: honestly outside of their conference games

[01:54:46] [SPEAKER_01]: and they can say that three non-power five conference games

[01:54:52] [SPEAKER_01]: there's not a guaranteed win on that schedule.

[01:54:55] [SPEAKER_05]: No, like I said,

[01:54:56] [SPEAKER_01]: they should be in Arkansas, Pine Bluff,

[01:54:58] [SPEAKER_01]: they should be UAB,

[01:54:59] [SPEAKER_01]: and then they should beat La Tech outside of that.

[01:55:05] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, you would say,

[01:55:07] [SPEAKER_05]: you would think they should be able to go into

[01:55:09] [SPEAKER_05]: Starkville and win, but it's a road game.

[01:55:12] [SPEAKER_05]: They should be able to go to Auburn and win,

[01:55:16] [SPEAKER_05]: but it's Jordan Hare.

[01:55:18] [SPEAKER_05]: And then like I said,

[01:55:19] [SPEAKER_05]: they get a lot of their toughest games at home,

[01:55:22] [SPEAKER_05]: but that's a lot of tough games.

[01:55:23] [SPEAKER_05]: You get Texas, Ole Miss, Tennessee all coming.

[01:55:26] [SPEAKER_05]: You have the neutral side game against A&M, LSU.

[01:55:30] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah sorry, I skipped LSU.

[01:55:33] [SPEAKER_05]: That's a tough schedule.

[01:55:34] [SPEAKER_05]: So if he gets to six wins this year,

[01:55:36] [SPEAKER_05]: that's a hell of, yeah, at Missouri, yeah.

[01:55:39] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, no that is a,

[01:55:42] [SPEAKER_05]: but you just want to see him if they,

[01:55:44] [SPEAKER_05]: no more weird blowout losses.

[01:55:46] [SPEAKER_05]: If they play everybody close,

[01:55:47] [SPEAKER_05]: if they can upset one of those teams,

[01:55:51] [SPEAKER_05]: and I think it'll be a good year for them

[01:55:52] [SPEAKER_05]: if they get back to a bowl.

[01:55:54] [SPEAKER_05]: Let's move on.

[01:55:56] [SPEAKER_05]: We'll go to Starkville, Mississippi State.

[01:55:58] [SPEAKER_05]: New head coach Jeff Lebby comes into town.

[01:56:01] [SPEAKER_05]: This is definitely a rebuilding year

[01:56:03] [SPEAKER_05]: for maybe a rebuilding couple years

[01:56:05] [SPEAKER_05]: for the Bulldogs.

[01:56:10] [SPEAKER_05]: Kind of last year,

[01:56:11] [SPEAKER_05]: just kind of the reeling fallout from

[01:56:13] [SPEAKER_05]: the untimely passing of Leach.

[01:56:18] [SPEAKER_05]: Arnett did not work out there as a coach.

[01:56:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he was in a tough situation.

[01:56:24] [SPEAKER_01]: He was, he was.

[01:56:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he was better.

[01:56:27] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's one of those guys

[01:56:31] [SPEAKER_01]: that would have been better suited

[01:56:34] [SPEAKER_01]: starting if he was going to have his first

[01:56:35] [SPEAKER_01]: head coaching job, he wanted to be an SEC head coach.

[01:56:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.

[01:56:40] [SPEAKER_01]: He was a great defensive coordinator.

[01:56:44] [SPEAKER_01]: If he had started in the Mac or something

[01:56:46] [SPEAKER_01]: and built his way up,

[01:56:48] [SPEAKER_01]: you could see him possibly moving into

[01:56:49] [SPEAKER_01]: an SEC-type role.

[01:56:51] [SPEAKER_01]: But his first time out,

[01:56:52] [SPEAKER_01]: and now with more to keep as many people

[01:56:54] [SPEAKER_01]: as possible together because

[01:56:56] [SPEAKER_01]: the Mike Lee situation here is hard

[01:56:58] [SPEAKER_01]: and they were doing everything they

[01:57:00] [SPEAKER_01]: could to keep their players there.

[01:57:02] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it's the first time they missed

[01:57:04] [SPEAKER_05]: a bowl in almost 15 years

[01:57:06] [SPEAKER_05]: outside of the COVID year.

[01:57:09] Right.

[01:57:10] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's been a better place there.

[01:57:13] [SPEAKER_01]: They have bowlers coming back

[01:57:14] [SPEAKER_01]: and after that,

[01:57:17] [SPEAKER_01]: they know that

[01:57:17] [SPEAKER_01]: they've got Leach in there.

[01:57:21] [SPEAKER_01]: But then you know,

[01:57:21] [SPEAKER_01]: it's a new day there.

[01:57:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Jeff Labdue, we know he's a great

[01:57:26] [SPEAKER_01]: offensive mind. He's gone completely

[01:57:28] [SPEAKER_01]: different from the opposite of last year.

[01:57:30] [SPEAKER_01]: The defensive guy to a,

[01:57:32] [SPEAKER_01]: back to an offensive guy.

[01:57:33] [SPEAKER_01]: We know how well

[01:57:35] [SPEAKER_01]: his offense has been from Simon O'Hugh.

[01:57:40] [SPEAKER_01]: And even before that

[01:57:42] [SPEAKER_01]: at UCF.

[01:57:45] [SPEAKER_01]: But he gets

[01:57:48] [SPEAKER_01]: a transfer quarterback from

[01:57:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Bale and Blake Shapen,

[01:57:53] [SPEAKER_01]: who has had some

[01:57:56] [SPEAKER_01]: great moments at times

[01:57:57] [SPEAKER_01]: at Baylor.

[01:58:00] [SPEAKER_01]: But he's looking to

[01:58:02] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, a new spot to be the guy at.

[01:58:07] [SPEAKER_01]: You know,

[01:58:08] [SPEAKER_01]: who, you know,

[01:58:11] [SPEAKER_01]: there's many expectations

[01:58:12] [SPEAKER_01]: for the Bulldogs this year.

[01:58:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Just cause

[01:58:17] [SPEAKER_01]: they're on a

[01:58:18] [SPEAKER_01]: bad spot kind of.

[01:58:20] [SPEAKER_01]: But, you know,

[01:58:25] [SPEAKER_05]: just rebuilding and

[01:58:28] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, like I said, I think it's

[01:58:29] [SPEAKER_05]: undoubtedly rebuilding year, at least

[01:58:31] [SPEAKER_05]: a couple years. Like you said,

[01:58:33] [SPEAKER_05]: they do go back to offensive minded

[01:58:36] [SPEAKER_05]: team with

[01:58:37] [SPEAKER_05]: Jeff the higher Jeff Labdue, which I think

[01:58:39] [SPEAKER_05]: is good because that's really, you know, when

[01:58:41] [SPEAKER_05]: Mullen came in, he really transformed them

[01:58:43] [SPEAKER_05]: into that.

[01:58:44] [SPEAKER_05]: They had been kind of a defensive identity

[01:58:48] [SPEAKER_05]: for so long.

[01:58:50] [SPEAKER_05]: For most of the

[01:58:51] [SPEAKER_05]: history. Yeah, and then, you know,

[01:58:53] [SPEAKER_05]: Mullen comes in, they get guys like Dak Prescott

[01:58:55] [SPEAKER_05]: and Nick Fitzgerald, and they

[01:58:57] [SPEAKER_05]: start scoring more points.

[01:58:59] [SPEAKER_05]: And then, you know, when Mike Leach

[01:59:01] [SPEAKER_05]: took over, of course, the air raid.

[01:59:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Now, Leby comes in running kind

[01:59:05] [SPEAKER_05]: of that spread again.

[01:59:07] [SPEAKER_05]: So yeah, I think, you know, hopefully

[01:59:09] [SPEAKER_05]: I think your

[01:59:11] [SPEAKER_05]: bright side for state fans this

[01:59:13] [SPEAKER_05]: year is that maybe it'll be fun to watch it again,

[01:59:15] [SPEAKER_05]: even if there's a lot of losses in there.

[01:59:17] [SPEAKER_05]: And there probably will be. It's a really

[01:59:19] [SPEAKER_05]: tough schedule.

[01:59:21] [SPEAKER_05]: You start Eastern Kentucky, then

[01:59:23] [SPEAKER_05]: at Arizona State,

[01:59:25] [SPEAKER_05]: then you host Toledo, then SEC

[01:59:27] [SPEAKER_05]: play begins, and it's rough.

[01:59:29] [SPEAKER_05]: It's Florida at Texas by

[01:59:31] [SPEAKER_05]: at Georgia, A&M,

[01:59:33] [SPEAKER_05]: Arkansas, UMass,

[01:59:35] [SPEAKER_05]: at Tennessee by

[01:59:37] [SPEAKER_05]: Missouri. And then the

[01:59:39] [SPEAKER_05]: Eggball is in Oxford this year.

[01:59:41] [SPEAKER_05]: That road schedule is brutal, man.

[01:59:43] [SPEAKER_05]: At Ole Miss, at Tennessee,

[01:59:45] [SPEAKER_05]: at Georgia, at Texas, and then

[01:59:47] [SPEAKER_05]: at Arizona State, you know.

[01:59:49] [SPEAKER_05]: Who knows?

[01:59:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[01:59:52] [SPEAKER_05]: That's just a brutal schedule. They only won one SEC

[01:59:55] [SPEAKER_05]: game last year. It was at

[01:59:57] [SPEAKER_05]: 7-3 win over Arkansas.

[02:00:00] [SPEAKER_05]: It'll be tough for them.

[02:00:02] [SPEAKER_05]: I was about to say,

[02:00:04] [SPEAKER_05]: it's tough. They get Arkansas home.

[02:00:06] [SPEAKER_05]: So maybe, you know,

[02:00:07] [SPEAKER_05]: that's where it's world will have to be.

[02:00:09] [SPEAKER_01]: That's when they have to, they have to

[02:00:12] [SPEAKER_01]: find a way

[02:00:13] [SPEAKER_01]: to win that game.

[02:00:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Look at each other like

[02:00:18] [SPEAKER_01]: that's our

[02:00:19] [SPEAKER_01]: most likely SEC win.

[02:00:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Both teams are looking at it.

[02:00:22] [SPEAKER_05]: That's rough.

[02:00:24] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[02:00:25] [SPEAKER_05]: So just, you know, state fans, keep your

[02:00:27] [SPEAKER_05]: heads up. What you're looking for

[02:00:29] [SPEAKER_05]: is some fight and some

[02:00:32] [SPEAKER_05]: signs that Jeff Levy was the right

[02:00:33] [SPEAKER_05]: hire and

[02:00:35] [SPEAKER_05]: they'll be back as it used to be.

[02:00:37] [SPEAKER_01]: We used to be competitive in games.

[02:00:38] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, you're getting housed every week.

[02:00:42] [SPEAKER_01]: You have reason to

[02:00:43] [SPEAKER_01]: take them caravans.

[02:00:45] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[02:00:47] [SPEAKER_05]: We'll end it with Vanderbilt

[02:00:49] [SPEAKER_05]: of course, as usually is.

[02:00:52] [SPEAKER_05]: Clark Lee entering his fourth season

[02:00:54] [SPEAKER_05]: with the Commodores.

[02:00:56] [SPEAKER_05]: Really hasn't been much to his

[02:00:58] [SPEAKER_05]: tenure there.

[02:00:59] [SPEAKER_05]: Two and ten and 21.

[02:01:01] [SPEAKER_05]: Five and seven and 22. Yeah, that was

[02:01:03] [SPEAKER_05]: all right. And then two and ten again

[02:01:05] [SPEAKER_05]: last year. Yeah.

[02:01:08] [SPEAKER_05]: Another tough schedule.

[02:01:13] [SPEAKER_01]: They've redone

[02:01:13] [SPEAKER_01]: the

[02:01:16] [SPEAKER_01]: they're still working on the stadium.

[02:01:18] [SPEAKER_05]: Still somehow still working on the stadium.

[02:01:19] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I think actually a couple of these bigger home games are

[02:01:21] [SPEAKER_05]: going to be at the Titans

[02:01:24] [SPEAKER_05]: or yeah, the Titans.

[02:01:26] [SPEAKER_05]: But they do

[02:01:27] [SPEAKER_05]: play just that schedule

[02:01:30] [SPEAKER_05]: real quick. It's Virginia Tech's their

[02:01:31] [SPEAKER_05]: opener. That's a home game.

[02:01:33] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm not sure if that one's the actual stadium

[02:01:35] [SPEAKER_05]: or if it's the Titans or wherever.

[02:01:38] [SPEAKER_05]: Then Alcorn State then at

[02:01:39] [SPEAKER_05]: Georgia State.

[02:01:42] [SPEAKER_01]: They actually go to Georgia State.

[02:01:44] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and that cool

[02:01:45] [SPEAKER_05]: if you don't know

[02:01:47] [SPEAKER_05]: listeners, Georgia State actually

[02:01:49] [SPEAKER_05]: bought the old Turner Field from

[02:01:52] [SPEAKER_05]: the Atlanta Braves and they moved into the suburbs.

[02:01:55] [SPEAKER_05]: And they've repurposed

[02:01:56] [SPEAKER_05]: it into a football field. It's really cool looking

[02:01:58] [SPEAKER_05]: of driven by it.

[02:02:01] [SPEAKER_05]: And then they're

[02:02:02] [SPEAKER_05]: actually the university is going to build

[02:02:03] [SPEAKER_05]: their baseball stadium on the site of

[02:02:06] [SPEAKER_05]: old Fulton County and they're going to use

[02:02:07] [SPEAKER_05]: the home plate and all that setup of where

[02:02:09] [SPEAKER_05]: Hank Aaron hit his

[02:02:12] [SPEAKER_05]: record breaking home run there

[02:02:13] [SPEAKER_05]: and played his years in Atlanta.

[02:02:16] [SPEAKER_05]: But as for Vanderbilt

[02:02:17] [SPEAKER_05]: after that they start SEC play by going

[02:02:19] [SPEAKER_05]: at Missouri and they get a buy. Then they host

[02:02:22] [SPEAKER_05]: Alabama then at Kentucky

[02:02:23] [SPEAKER_05]: then at or then they host Ball State

[02:02:26] [SPEAKER_05]: then they host Texas and then

[02:02:28] [SPEAKER_05]: at Auburn and Jordan here then host

[02:02:29] [SPEAKER_05]: South Carolina and then another buy

[02:02:31] [SPEAKER_05]: and then they finish at LSU

[02:02:33] [SPEAKER_05]: and they host Tennessee. That's

[02:02:36] [SPEAKER_05]: no favors. That schedule

[02:02:38] [SPEAKER_05]: does in no favors

[02:02:41] [SPEAKER_05]: same. I don't know where that SEC

[02:02:43] [SPEAKER_05]: wind comes in for them.

[02:02:46] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't know if

[02:02:47] [SPEAKER_05]: you know. I mean

[02:02:49] [SPEAKER_01]: I guess on paper

[02:02:51] [SPEAKER_01]: South Carolina is the

[02:02:53] [SPEAKER_01]: easiest game on the schedule.

[02:02:56] [SPEAKER_01]: I guess yeah. Yeah in the SEC

[02:02:57] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah. I mean Auburn

[02:02:59] [SPEAKER_01]: it's Auburn or South Carolina

[02:03:02] [SPEAKER_01]: but Lee County

[02:03:07] [SPEAKER_01]: uh

[02:03:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Vanderbilt

[02:03:09] [SPEAKER_01]: is home at least against

[02:03:12] [SPEAKER_01]: South Carolina not that that really

[02:03:13] [SPEAKER_01]: matters because Vanderbilt's

[02:03:15] [SPEAKER_01]: far from the

[02:03:17] [SPEAKER_01]: the home

[02:03:19] [SPEAKER_01]: atmosphere. Often

[02:03:21] [SPEAKER_01]: the visitors seem to have much

[02:03:23] [SPEAKER_01]: bigger portion of the stadium

[02:03:25] [SPEAKER_01]: but anyway

[02:03:28] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah

[02:03:29] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know. Yeah

[02:03:31] [SPEAKER_01]: we'll see a win there

[02:03:33] [SPEAKER_01]: those are the

[02:03:35] [SPEAKER_01]: only two possibilities and those are

[02:03:37] [SPEAKER_01]: kind of my possibilities

[02:03:39] [SPEAKER_01]: so yeah

[02:03:43] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean honestly I don't see

[02:03:45] [SPEAKER_01]: three wins on the schedule. Ball

[02:03:47] [SPEAKER_01]: State maybe

[02:03:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Ball State you would think

[02:03:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Auburn State I don't

[02:03:53] [SPEAKER_01]: know if Georgia State even a guarantee

[02:03:56] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah I don't know it's

[02:03:57] [SPEAKER_05]: you know it's that type of

[02:03:59] [SPEAKER_05]: time for Vanderbilt but

[02:04:01] [SPEAKER_05]: like I said they get the transfer in

[02:04:03] [SPEAKER_05]: from New Mexico State. He's a fun

[02:04:05] [SPEAKER_05]: quarterback to watch at least so hopefully

[02:04:07] [SPEAKER_05]: he gives them a couple highlight real

[02:04:09] [SPEAKER_05]: plays but uh

[02:04:12] [SPEAKER_05]: folks I think that should do

[02:04:13] [SPEAKER_05]: it for SEC preview. I think we've

[02:04:16] [SPEAKER_05]: covered every team

[02:04:18] [SPEAKER_05]: and we'll do our

[02:04:19] [SPEAKER_05]: official predictions next week

[02:04:22] [SPEAKER_05]: Greg before

[02:04:23] [SPEAKER_05]: we go is there anything else in the world of sports

[02:04:25] [SPEAKER_05]: from this week you want to touch on?

[02:04:30] [SPEAKER_01]: You know

[02:04:30] [SPEAKER_01]: last night in the Cowboy

[02:04:33] [SPEAKER_01]: preseason game I mean I was

[02:04:35] [SPEAKER_01]: very impressed with our kicker

[02:04:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Brendan Aubrey

[02:04:38] [SPEAKER_01]: you know he spent a year in that

[02:04:40] [SPEAKER_01]: bro. Yeah

[02:04:43] [SPEAKER_01]: but he had a 66

[02:04:45] [SPEAKER_01]: and a 54 yard field goal

[02:04:47] [SPEAKER_01]: it was nothing

[02:04:49] [SPEAKER_05]: like just dude there's

[02:04:51] [SPEAKER_05]: nothing quite like having

[02:04:53] [SPEAKER_05]: not just a good kicker but a

[02:04:55] [SPEAKER_05]: top tier kicker on your team

[02:04:57] [SPEAKER_05]: it's um you know we talked

[02:04:59] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah we talked earlier about Will

[02:05:01] [SPEAKER_05]: Riker and it you know as

[02:05:03] [SPEAKER_05]: a Ravens fan I've had Justin Tucker for over

[02:05:05] [SPEAKER_05]: a decade now it's

[02:05:07] [SPEAKER_05]: nice to not worry about

[02:05:09] [SPEAKER_05]: that stuff and it's nice when you have

[02:05:11] [SPEAKER_05]: a kicker where when they miss one you're like

[02:05:13] [SPEAKER_05]: genuinely shocked

[02:05:15] [SPEAKER_03]: shocked yeah I mean

[02:05:17] [SPEAKER_05]: Justin Tucker misses you know 58

[02:05:19] [SPEAKER_05]: yard field goal and I'm like well really? That's

[02:05:21] [SPEAKER_05]: weird man and you know

[02:05:23] [SPEAKER_05]: what was wrong? Did someone hit him? Yeah

[02:05:25] [SPEAKER_05]: anybody yeah he was

[02:05:28] [SPEAKER_05]: fouled roughed

[02:05:29] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah but uh something happened

[02:05:31] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah no yeah um

[02:05:34] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah it was not much

[02:05:35] [SPEAKER_05]: it was the start of European soccer

[02:05:37] [SPEAKER_05]: this week um you know Premier

[02:05:39] [SPEAKER_05]: League all that kicked off my boys arsenal

[02:05:41] [SPEAKER_05]: got themselves a good win the start to season

[02:05:43] [SPEAKER_05]: and hopefully

[02:05:45] [SPEAKER_05]: make a run to the title issue hopefully they can

[02:05:47] [SPEAKER_05]: dethrone uh Manchester City going

[02:05:49] [SPEAKER_05]: for an unprecedented fifth straight

[02:05:54] [SPEAKER_05]: English title um

[02:05:56] [SPEAKER_05]: Kylian Mbappe started his career at

[02:05:57] [SPEAKER_05]: Real Madrid this past weekend disappointing

[02:05:59] [SPEAKER_05]: they only got a draw um

[02:06:02] [SPEAKER_05]: but yeah fun fun

[02:06:03] [SPEAKER_05]: time of year you know soccer starting

[02:06:05] [SPEAKER_05]: up baseball hitting the stretch run

[02:06:07] [SPEAKER_05]: um

[02:06:10] [SPEAKER_05]: the um uh

[02:06:13] [SPEAKER_05]: football's right here folks um

[02:06:17] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah

[02:06:17] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah like I said next week is gonna be

[02:06:19] [SPEAKER_05]: our official prediction podcast

[02:06:21] [SPEAKER_05]: so you can learn who to bet against

[02:06:23] [SPEAKER_05]: but um before

[02:06:25] [SPEAKER_05]: we go as always Greg what's been done up real good

[02:06:27] [SPEAKER_05]: for you

[02:06:29] [SPEAKER_01]: I think you pretty much said it

[02:06:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Romo so that time of the year

[02:06:33] [SPEAKER_01]: football season right there I mean

[02:06:36] [SPEAKER_01]: by the time we

[02:06:37] [SPEAKER_01]: have official games on this

[02:06:40] [SPEAKER_01]: have been played so that'll be

[02:06:42] [SPEAKER_01]: beautiful great in itself

[02:06:43] [SPEAKER_01]: um it doesn't get better

[02:06:45] [SPEAKER_01]: than that

[02:06:47] [SPEAKER_01]: and call football back

[02:06:49] [SPEAKER_01]: and then it'll be here before you know

[02:06:51] [SPEAKER_01]: it or someone being

[02:06:53] [SPEAKER_01]: playing out baseball beautiful time

[02:06:55] [SPEAKER_01]: of year for sports fans

[02:06:57] [SPEAKER_05]: I would too

[02:06:59] [SPEAKER_05]: you know I'll say the same thing just that

[02:07:01] [SPEAKER_05]: the anticipation

[02:07:03] [SPEAKER_05]: of football season whether it's

[02:07:06] [SPEAKER_05]: American football or European traditional

[02:07:08] [SPEAKER_05]: football if you will

[02:07:10] [SPEAKER_05]: just that great time of year

[02:07:12] [SPEAKER_05]: of you know

[02:07:14] [SPEAKER_05]: the Braves are sucking me in

[02:07:16] [SPEAKER_05]: and out you know they'll go on a little four

[02:07:18] [SPEAKER_05]: game win streak and then I'll be like oh

[02:07:20] [SPEAKER_05]: maybe there's hope and then you know

[02:07:22] [SPEAKER_05]: something like today it's just that kind of season

[02:07:23] [SPEAKER_05]: for them today they got another win but

[02:07:26] [SPEAKER_05]: Austin Riley got hit in the hand with a pitch

[02:07:27] [SPEAKER_05]: in the first inning so

[02:07:29] [SPEAKER_05]: this is throw in hand too so yeah

[02:07:32] [SPEAKER_05]: um it's great

[02:07:34] [SPEAKER_05]: super

[02:07:36] [SPEAKER_04]: but yeah it's just

[02:07:37] [SPEAKER_05]: that this time of year is great for sports fans

[02:07:39] [SPEAKER_05]: you know the weather will finally start to cool

[02:07:41] [SPEAKER_05]: off here in a couple months

[02:07:45] [SPEAKER_05]: now it's that time but um

[02:07:48] [SPEAKER_05]: this

[02:07:49] [SPEAKER_05]: is a long one folks thanks for sticking with us

[02:07:51] [SPEAKER_05]: it usually is

[02:07:53] [SPEAKER_05]: also the longest episode every year

[02:07:56] [SPEAKER_05]: but we

[02:07:57] [SPEAKER_05]: hope we covered everything

[02:07:58] [SPEAKER_01]: we had two extra teams to talk about this year

[02:08:00] [SPEAKER_05]: two extra teams to talk about

[02:08:03] [SPEAKER_05]: and we

[02:08:04] [SPEAKER_05]: you know we saved it for y'all

[02:08:06] [SPEAKER_05]: we didn't do like last year and kind of broke down

[02:08:08] [SPEAKER_05]: every conference basically but uh

[02:08:10] [SPEAKER_05]: we'll come back like I said next week we'll come back

[02:08:12] [SPEAKER_05]: more official we'll predict

[02:08:14] [SPEAKER_05]: conference winners we'll talk college

[02:08:16] [SPEAKER_05]: football playoff teams national champs

[02:08:18] [SPEAKER_05]: Heisman you know all that kind of stuff

[02:08:20] [SPEAKER_00]: and then um

[02:08:21] [SPEAKER_05]: you know we'll maybe we'll talk

[02:08:24] [SPEAKER_05]: like sleeper teams you know we'll probably give you

[02:08:27] [SPEAKER_05]: a who we think is

[02:08:28] [SPEAKER_05]: a champion who we think could be a sleeper team

[02:08:30] [SPEAKER_05]: and then maybe he will disappoint in each conference

[02:08:32] [SPEAKER_04]: um

[02:08:33] [SPEAKER_05]: but as always uh do subscribe
