A little later than usual this week, but we make up for with a lengthy show that covers the CFP Quarterfinals, and looks ahead to the CFP Semifinals and NFL Playoffs. We also recap the Alabama football season, looking back at the good, bad, and ugly of Kalen DeBoer's first season in Tuscaloosa. There's also some chatting about NFL franchises in need of a new head coach, the top of the draft, the NBA season hitting its stride, and more.

[00:00:00] I love it, I take projection

[00:00:06] Welcome everybody to Takin On Sports, I am TD, that is Greg, Greg how you doing man?

[00:00:11] I'm pretty good, how are you doing?

[00:00:13] I'm pretty good here on a Wednesday night for us, not usual but hey you know, life happens,

[00:00:20] got stuff to do but we found it, plenty to talk about of course

[00:00:24] Oh yeah, definitely

[00:00:26] Yeah a lot since we last talked, we've had all the college football playoff quarterfinal games,

[00:00:30] we now know our NFL playoffs, Alabama is just now as I'm speaking, wrapping up

[00:00:37] a second straight big time blowout win over an SEC opponent, yeah

[00:00:41] On the road too

[00:00:42] On the road to South Carolina, it's two blowout wins to start SEC play, I'm sure we'll come back to that

[00:00:50] But let's start with those college football playoffs as we usually do college football

[00:00:55] Four quarterfinal games, a few better games than the first round, you know, which was really nothing close

[00:01:04] Right

[00:01:05] Of course we had that, I guess which one was first, that Boise, Penn State, was that first?

[00:01:11] Yeah, that was first, yeah

[00:01:12] That was first and it was a 31-14 Penn State win, pretty dominant but Boise just, it could have been a lot closer, they just couldn't finish drives

[00:01:21] Yeah

[00:01:22] They got it to within three in the third quarter, Penn State immediately responded with a touchdown run, got it back to 10

[00:01:29] And then after that, Boise just, I mean, interceptions and missed field goals and just

[00:01:35] Yeah

[00:01:36] Could not finish drives

[00:01:38] Yeah

[00:01:39] Did not, um

[00:01:41] Great season for the Broncos nonetheless

[00:01:43] Yeah

[00:01:44] No, it was

[00:01:45] Exactly, yeah

[00:01:45] But, um, you know, Penn State did a hell of a job

[00:01:49] Shutting down

[00:01:51] The Ashton's NC, I mean, they did

[00:01:53] Which, I mean, the most he's been shut down all season, I think it's like a three yards a carry, he barely got to 100

[00:02:02] So

[00:02:03] Yeah, 30 carries for 104 yards, so yeah, that's a struggle numbers for him

[00:02:09] Yeah, for sure

[00:02:10] Um, and just efficient for them, you know, uh, their guy Allen ran for 134 on 17 carries

[00:02:18] Um

[00:02:19] They got that, that duo that's pretty

[00:02:22] Yeah

[00:02:25] Uh, pretty good running stats, yeah, for, uh, Penn State right there

[00:02:30] Uh, boys even actually out gained them and had more, uh, almost 10 minutes more possession, but

[00:02:36] Yeah

[00:02:36] Four turnovers and those missed kicks, that'll do it for you

[00:02:40] That'll do it, yeah, for sure

[00:02:42] Like you said, not a recipe to pull the upset

[00:02:44] Uh, the next game we saw, the next, uh, New Year's Day to start it off was probably the, or not probably, definitely

[00:02:50] Oh, definitely, the best game of the, uh, playoff so far

[00:02:54] Texas, Arizona State, uh, looked for a minute, like it might not be a good game

[00:02:58] Looked like Texas might run them

[00:02:59] Yeah, might run them off the field, but then as it has a lot this season, the Texas offense kind of stalled

[00:03:07] Went flat

[00:03:08] Um, yeah, they were up 17 to 3 at halftime and then could not do anything really in the second half at all

[00:03:15] They scored

[00:03:16] One touchdown in the second half

[00:03:17] And Arizona State

[00:03:21] Tied it up, uh, got the game to overtime, of course

[00:03:24] A couple

[00:03:26] Missed kicks by

[00:03:27] Texas there at the end, too

[00:03:29] Bird Auburn

[00:03:31] Yeah, oh, Bird Auburn

[00:03:32] Two missed kicks, uh, really, after

[00:03:36] Boise tied it up

[00:03:37] It was, uh

[00:03:38] I thought for sure, I was like, the second one, there's no way he misses

[00:03:41] With like a 28-yarder to win the game

[00:03:43] And he did

[00:03:44] I'm like, there's no way he's gonna miss this

[00:03:46] Yeah

[00:03:46] Chip shot by his standards, too

[00:03:48] Um, yeah

[00:03:49] It was just, yeah, it was rough

[00:03:50] After

[00:03:52] Arizona State, uh

[00:03:55] Got, they scored a touchdown

[00:03:57] It was so

[00:04:00] Uh, sorry, sorry, I'm trying to hold

[00:04:01] Find my place here, but they were down 24-8

[00:04:04] They scored a touchdown

[00:04:06] Texas responds, you know

[00:04:08] Uh-huh

[00:04:10] Or, you know, they're

[00:04:11] Sorry

[00:04:12] They get the score 224-8

[00:04:14] Uh

[00:04:16] And then that's when it

[00:04:17] Kind of all hell breaks loose

[00:04:18] Texas has the interception

[00:04:19] Two missed field goals to end the half

[00:04:21] So Arizona State has all the momentum going into

[00:04:25] Uh

[00:04:26] The final period, too

[00:04:28] But

[00:04:29] Couldn't get done

[00:04:30] They score a touchdown

[00:04:31] Teams trade touchdowns in the first

[00:04:33] Overtime

[00:04:34] And then

[00:04:35] Yep

[00:04:35] Texas hits a

[00:04:36] Touchdown on their first play

[00:04:38] In the second overtime

[00:04:39] Gets a two-point

[00:04:40] And then Arizona State cannot tie it up

[00:04:42] But outstanding game

[00:04:43] Absolutely

[00:04:44] But that

[00:04:45] Yeah

[00:04:45] That, uh

[00:04:47] That

[00:04:47] Man

[00:04:48] And the losing effort token

[00:04:50] Man

[00:04:50] Cam Scatterboot did everything

[00:04:52] Oh

[00:04:52] He could

[00:04:54] Was he

[00:04:55] Literally

[00:04:56] Uh

[00:04:57] Yeah, the touchdown pass

[00:04:58] Yeah

[00:04:59] 30 carries for 143

[00:05:01] Two touchdowns

[00:05:02] Eight catches for 99 yards

[00:05:03] And then, yeah

[00:05:04] You mentioned a touchdown pass

[00:05:06] Um

[00:05:07] I mean

[00:05:08] His stock went through the roof

[00:05:09] I mean

[00:05:10] He was already there

[00:05:11] But, I mean

[00:05:11] He took it

[00:05:12] To a different level

[00:05:13] Because, I mean

[00:05:14] Of course, for them

[00:05:14] Texas

[00:05:15] A different type of opponent

[00:05:17] Than they

[00:05:17] You know

[00:05:18] Seen all year

[00:05:19] Um

[00:05:22] But, um

[00:05:23] You know

[00:05:25] That, uh

[00:05:25] Yeah, I mean

[00:05:26] It was good to see

[00:05:27] That game

[00:05:28] Because I was like

[00:05:28] Man, I was kind of

[00:05:29] Disappointed

[00:05:29] I was like

[00:05:30] Man

[00:05:31] I think we all

[00:05:33] Kind of thought

[00:05:33] You know

[00:05:33] If there was a team

[00:05:34] That's going to hang

[00:05:35] Out of the

[00:05:36] Underdogs

[00:05:36] There's going to be

[00:05:37] Arizona State

[00:05:37] And

[00:05:38] When they got down big

[00:05:39] I was like

[00:05:40] Man

[00:05:40] That sucks

[00:05:41] They had a hell of a

[00:05:42] Fourth quarter

[00:05:43] 16 in the fourth

[00:05:45] That touchdown pass

[00:05:46] Is really what

[00:05:47] Sparked that late

[00:05:48] Comeback

[00:05:49] Oh, absolutely

[00:05:50] And then

[00:05:51] But then that

[00:05:51] Uh

[00:05:52] The damn

[00:05:52] Fourth and 13 though

[00:05:54] Passed by a

[00:05:55] Ewers

[00:05:55] I mean

[00:05:56] That was

[00:05:57] Just a laser

[00:05:58] Toon

[00:05:59] You know

[00:06:00] Um

[00:06:04] Yeah

[00:06:04] Yeah

[00:06:05] He

[00:06:05] Texas made the plays

[00:06:06] When they needed to

[00:06:07] Uh

[00:06:07] There was a couple

[00:06:08] You know

[00:06:08] We mentioned interception

[00:06:09] And the missed field goals

[00:06:10] Late in the fourth

[00:06:12] But they never

[00:06:13] You know

[00:06:14] They held on

[00:06:14] They never blew the game

[00:06:16] Yeah

[00:06:17] And

[00:06:18] Uh

[00:06:18] Like I said

[00:06:19] The defense did stand tall

[00:06:20] In overtime

[00:06:21] Arizona State

[00:06:21] Had just run out of

[00:06:22] A gas

[00:06:23] I think

[00:06:23] You know

[00:06:24] Nothing left in the tank

[00:06:25] And

[00:06:26] Again

[00:06:26] Like Boise

[00:06:27] Yeah

[00:06:27] Just a great season

[00:06:28] But then they got all the way

[00:06:29] All the way down to the

[00:06:30] Now

[00:06:31] The only thing I didn't like though

[00:06:32] You

[00:06:33] You have third down and go

[00:06:34] From like

[00:06:35] The

[00:06:35] Third

[00:06:36] And within the five

[00:06:38] Mm-hmm

[00:06:39] And then they throw the pass

[00:06:40] I'm like dude

[00:06:42] Yeah

[00:06:42] You're the hottest person

[00:06:43] You gotta get Cam the ball

[00:06:45] Yeah

[00:06:46] He uh

[00:06:46] Yeah

[00:06:47] You gotta get it to your batter

[00:06:48] At that point

[00:06:48] You got two plays

[00:06:49] You had third and four down

[00:06:51] I guarantee you

[00:06:52] Cam probably gets you

[00:06:52] In the end zone

[00:06:54] I don't know if you get

[00:06:54] The two point conversion

[00:06:55] But

[00:06:56] He's touching the ball

[00:06:58] Yeah

[00:06:58] At the very least

[00:06:59] You go

[00:07:00] Live by the sword

[00:07:01] Die by the sword

[00:07:01] Type thing

[00:07:02] You gotta go out

[00:07:03] Giving your best weapon

[00:07:04] The ball's gotta be in his hands

[00:07:05] And if he does

[00:07:06] If they stop him

[00:07:07] Then

[00:07:07] I'll credit to him

[00:07:08] But you

[00:07:09] Yeah

[00:07:09] Yeah

[00:07:10] But that was a big if

[00:07:12] For the way he was playing that game

[00:07:13] Oh yeah

[00:07:14] Um

[00:07:15] But yeah

[00:07:16] A great season for them

[00:07:17] Nobody expected

[00:07:18] Arizona State to be

[00:07:21] In the playoff

[00:07:22] Or really

[00:07:22] Even in the

[00:07:23] Big 12 title hunt

[00:07:24] And then let alone

[00:07:25] Be the champion

[00:07:26] And in the playoff

[00:07:27] With a bye

[00:07:28] At that

[00:07:28] Yeah

[00:07:29] You know

[00:07:29] Whether they deserve to buy

[00:07:31] It's a different discussion

[00:07:32] But

[00:07:32] But

[00:07:33] No one's gonna fault them

[00:07:34] Yeah

[00:07:35] And Cam Scadaboo

[00:07:35] Became a star

[00:07:38] Absolutely

[00:07:39] Definitely earned himself

[00:07:40] Probably a

[00:07:41] Probably a draft spot

[00:07:42] You know

[00:07:42] Maybe second day

[00:07:43] Third day or so

[00:07:44] But he's probably

[00:07:45] Gonna get drafted now

[00:07:46] In April

[00:07:46] Oh absolutely

[00:07:48] Get drafted

[00:07:49] Um

[00:07:49] It's just a matter of

[00:07:50] Who wants him

[00:07:51] Um

[00:07:51] But you know

[00:07:52] It's a

[00:07:52] Really a great

[00:07:54] A good running back class

[00:07:55] I mean that's probably

[00:07:56] The strongest class

[00:07:57] It really is

[00:07:57] Yeah

[00:07:58] A lot of good backs

[00:07:59] Um

[00:08:01] But yeah

[00:08:01] I mean

[00:08:02] And you would have to think

[00:08:03] That Arizona State

[00:08:04] Um

[00:08:06] Just with

[00:08:06] You know

[00:08:07] The coach

[00:08:08] I think

[00:08:09] You know

[00:08:09] I don't think

[00:08:10] This is gonna be

[00:08:10] A fluke thing

[00:08:11] I think they're gonna be

[00:08:12] A consistent team

[00:08:13] That's gonna be

[00:08:13] Pushing for a

[00:08:14] Playoff spot

[00:08:15] Year in and year out

[00:08:17] Yeah

[00:08:17] Leavitt

[00:08:18] The quarterback

[00:08:18] Only a freshman

[00:08:19] So

[00:08:19] And he

[00:08:19] He made some big plays

[00:08:20] Himself

[00:08:22] Uh

[00:08:23] So

[00:08:24] They've got something

[00:08:25] To build on there

[00:08:25] Like you mentioned

[00:08:26] Dillingham is

[00:08:27] Just

[00:08:27] He seems to

[00:08:28] Have that program

[00:08:30] Right where he wants

[00:08:31] Them headed

[00:08:32] And

[00:08:32] Absolutely

[00:08:33] People are excited there

[00:08:35] Yeah

[00:08:35] Um

[00:08:35] After that of course

[00:08:37] We saw the Rose Bowl

[00:08:38] Uh

[00:08:39] Starting

[00:08:39] You know

[00:08:40] Later that evening

[00:08:40] And

[00:08:41] Oh man

[00:08:41] It was

[00:08:43] Not

[00:08:43] Not

[00:08:44] A replay

[00:08:45] Of the first two

[00:08:46] Or the first meeting

[00:08:47] Between these two teams

[00:08:48] Ohio State and Oregon

[00:08:49] The Buckeyes

[00:08:51] We mentioned

[00:08:51] If they played

[00:08:52] Like they did

[00:08:53] Against Tennessee

[00:08:53] We don't think

[00:08:54] There's a team

[00:08:54] That'll beat them

[00:08:55] Well they played

[00:08:56] Like it again

[00:08:57] They

[00:08:58] They seem to have

[00:08:59] Remembered that

[00:09:00] They're the most

[00:09:01] Talented team

[00:09:01] In the country

[00:09:02] Right

[00:09:03] Or we

[00:09:04] You just have

[00:09:04] Just two

[00:09:05] Two outstanding

[00:09:06] Wide receivers

[00:09:07] And

[00:09:08] Yeah

[00:09:08] Let's get them

[00:09:09] Involved in the game

[00:09:10] Yeah

[00:09:11] And they are

[00:09:11] Defenses playing hot

[00:09:13] Offenses scoring points

[00:09:14] At will

[00:09:14] Uh

[00:09:15] This never was a game

[00:09:16] No

[00:09:17] Uh

[00:09:18] Ohio State

[00:09:18] 31

[00:09:20] Just boom

[00:09:21] Just yeah

[00:09:22] Absolutely

[00:09:23] Annihilation

[00:09:24] Uh

[00:09:25] So now

[00:09:26] Uh

[00:09:26] They will meet

[00:09:27] Texas

[00:09:28] In the

[00:09:28] Cotton Bowl

[00:09:30] Friday

[00:09:30] Friday night

[00:09:31] Um

[00:09:32] In the ice storm

[00:09:33] Yeah

[00:09:34] In the ice storm

[00:09:35] Yeah

[00:09:35] Luckily

[00:09:35] They got the

[00:09:36] Old cover there

[00:09:37] But

[00:09:39] Getting there

[00:09:39] Might be a trick

[00:09:41] Yeah

[00:09:41] Initial

[00:09:42] Now you know

[00:09:42] You figure Texas

[00:09:43] Might have a little bit

[00:09:44] Of the fan advantage

[00:09:45] You would

[00:09:45] Think

[00:09:47] Obviously

[00:09:47] You know

[00:09:48] Like you said

[00:09:48] If fans even

[00:09:49] Make it there

[00:09:49] Nah

[00:09:50] I mean

[00:09:51] You know

[00:09:53] Dallas is actually

[00:09:54] Better than some

[00:09:55] Spots as far as

[00:09:56] Um

[00:09:56] Snow

[00:09:58] Um

[00:09:59] But

[00:10:00] Yeah

[00:10:00] I mean

[00:10:01] But really

[00:10:01] I mean

[00:10:02] They should have

[00:10:02] Some advantage

[00:10:03] But Ohio State

[00:10:04] They travel

[00:10:04] Great

[00:10:05] And they're

[00:10:06] You know

[00:10:07] They're a fan base

[00:10:08] That's all over the place

[00:10:09] So

[00:10:09] It'll be a little

[00:10:10] Advantage in Texas

[00:10:11] But I guarantee

[00:10:12] It's a lot of

[00:10:13] A lot of

[00:10:14] Um

[00:10:15] Buckeye

[00:10:15] Buckeye fans

[00:10:17] There

[00:10:17] I mean

[00:10:17] They did

[00:10:18] They were

[00:10:18] They were deep

[00:10:19] At the Rose Bowl

[00:10:20] Yeah

[00:10:22] Uh

[00:10:22] Yeah

[00:10:22] Traditional

[00:10:23] Rose Bowl

[00:10:24] Matchup

[00:10:24] If you will

[00:10:25] Uh

[00:10:26] Big Ten

[00:10:26] Versus Pac

[00:10:27] They just

[00:10:28] Punched Oregon

[00:10:29] It was just

[00:10:29] They just

[00:10:30] Punched Oregon

[00:10:31] Dead in the mouth

[00:10:32] And by the time

[00:10:33] Oregon got back

[00:10:33] In

[00:10:34] You know

[00:10:34] Started looking

[00:10:35] More like themselves

[00:10:35] It was just

[00:10:36] Too late

[00:10:37] Too late

[00:10:38] Yeah

[00:10:38] Oregon just

[00:10:38] You know

[00:10:39] They did what

[00:10:39] Nobody's done

[00:10:40] To them all year

[00:10:41] And just kind of

[00:10:42] Smacked them around

[00:10:43] And

[00:10:44] Yeah

[00:10:45] They played

[00:10:45] Kind of out

[00:10:46] Organ to Oregon

[00:10:47] To a degree

[00:10:47] There you know

[00:10:48] Uh

[00:10:48] Fast

[00:10:49] And

[00:10:50] Yeah

[00:10:51] Yeah

[00:10:51] Fast and tough

[00:10:52] And like we said

[00:10:53] If this team

[00:10:54] Plays to its talent level

[00:10:55] They would be hard

[00:10:56] To beat

[00:10:57] If

[00:10:57] You know

[00:10:58] Yeah

[00:10:59] So

[00:10:59] Yeah

[00:11:00] Uh

[00:11:01] And then

[00:11:02] The last game

[00:11:03] Should have been

[00:11:03] Later that night

[00:11:04] Of course

[00:11:04] Due to the

[00:11:04] Um

[00:11:05] Just terrible attack

[00:11:06] There on

[00:11:07] New Orleans

[00:11:07] On Bourbon Street

[00:11:08] They delayed

[00:11:09] The Sugar Bowl

[00:11:09] Yeah

[00:11:11] Um

[00:11:12] So it was played

[00:11:12] The next day

[00:11:13] In the afternoon

[00:11:14] And

[00:11:14] Notre Dame

[00:11:15] Dominated Georgia

[00:11:16] Uh

[00:11:16] Man

[00:11:17] Good day

[00:11:17] No two ways

[00:11:18] Around it

[00:11:19] Uh

[00:11:19] With

[00:11:19] No Carson Beck

[00:11:20] For the Bulldogs

[00:11:21] With their problems

[00:11:22] Beyond that

[00:11:23] Um

[00:11:24] Special teams

[00:11:26] Breakdowns

[00:11:26] Yeah

[00:11:27] Uh

[00:11:27] Notre Dame

[00:11:28] Just kind of

[00:11:28] Ran the ball

[00:11:29] At will

[00:11:30] Did what they

[00:11:30] Really wanted

[00:11:31] To do

[00:11:31] They didn't

[00:11:32] Even throw

[00:11:32] For 100 yards

[00:11:33] That's crazy

[00:11:35] And then they

[00:11:35] Had like 96 yards

[00:11:37] Passing

[00:11:37] Or something like that

[00:11:38] Yeah

[00:11:38] Neither team

[00:11:39] Had over

[00:11:40] 300 yards

[00:11:41] Of offense

[00:11:42] Uh

[00:11:42] Two Georgia

[00:11:43] Turnovers

[00:11:43] That

[00:11:44] That end of the

[00:11:45] First half

[00:11:45] Really where

[00:11:46] Went south

[00:11:47] Oh absolutely

[00:11:48] You know

[00:11:49] It was a 3-3 game

[00:11:49] They should have just

[00:11:50] Took it to the house

[00:11:51] Yeah

[00:11:51] And then Georgia

[00:11:53] Tried to cheat

[00:11:53] And get a little

[00:11:54] Something at the

[00:11:54] End of the half

[00:11:55] There

[00:11:55] Notre Dame

[00:11:56] Gets a pick

[00:11:58] Yeah

[00:11:58] Quick touch

[00:11:59] Time

[00:12:00] Mmhmm

[00:12:01] Goes from

[00:12:02] 3-3

[00:12:02] To 13-3

[00:12:03] Real quick

[00:12:04] At the end

[00:12:04] Of the first

[00:12:04] Half there

[00:12:05] And then

[00:12:05] Uh

[00:12:06] Notre Dame

[00:12:07] Takes the opening

[00:12:08] Kick of the

[00:12:08] Second half

[00:12:09] Back

[00:12:09] And that

[00:12:09] Was pretty

[00:12:10] Much all

[00:12:10] She wrote

[00:12:11] That was

[00:12:11] All she wrote

[00:12:12] Georgia

[00:12:13] Got within

[00:12:13] 10

[00:12:14] Later that

[00:12:15] Quarter

[00:12:15] But it

[00:12:15] Was really

[00:12:16] No chance

[00:12:17] Uh

[00:12:17] Yeah

[00:12:19] I mean

[00:12:19] We

[00:12:20] I mean

[00:12:21] We

[00:12:21] Kind of

[00:12:22] Said

[00:12:22] You know

[00:12:23] If there

[00:12:23] Was a

[00:12:23] Time

[00:12:23] For

[00:12:24] For

[00:12:24] Notre Dame

[00:12:25] To

[00:12:25] Show

[00:12:26] They

[00:12:26] Were

[00:12:27] There

[00:12:27] That

[00:12:28] Was it

[00:12:28] They

[00:12:28] Lived up

[00:12:29] To the

[00:12:29] Hite

[00:12:30] I

[00:12:34] I mean

[00:12:34] They

[00:12:34] Out

[00:12:34] Physical

[00:12:34] Georgia

[00:12:35] And in

[00:12:36] A certain

[00:12:36] Sense

[00:12:36] You almost

[00:12:37] Felt that

[00:12:38] Marcus Freeman

[00:12:39] Outcoached

[00:12:40] Kirby

[00:12:40] Smart

[00:12:41] Doesn't happen

[00:12:42] Much to

[00:12:42] Kirby

[00:12:43] But

[00:12:43] Felt like

[00:12:44] It definitely

[00:12:44] Happened

[00:12:45] Um

[00:12:46] You know

[00:12:46] I felt

[00:12:47] Kirby

[00:12:47] Really

[00:12:48] Felt

[00:12:48] A little

[00:12:49] Press

[00:12:49] There

[00:12:49] At the

[00:12:50] End

[00:12:50] Of

[00:12:50] The

[00:12:50] First

[00:12:50] Half

[00:12:50] There

[00:12:50] Very

[00:12:51] Uncurby

[00:12:52] Like

[00:12:52] To

[00:13:07] Go

[00:13:15] When

[00:13:15] The

[00:13:16] Last

[00:13:16] Time

[00:13:16] He

[00:13:16] Had

[00:13:17] A

[00:13:17] Kick

[00:13:17] Off

[00:13:17] Return

[00:13:18] On

[00:13:18] Georgia

[00:13:19] Yeah

[00:13:19] Right

[00:13:20] Seems

[00:13:20] Hard

[00:13:21] To

[00:13:21] Remember

[00:13:21] That

[00:13:22] Yeah

[00:13:22] But

[00:13:22] Yeah

[00:13:23] And

[00:13:23] Just

[00:13:23] Those

[00:13:24] Kind of

[00:13:24] Things

[00:13:24] That

[00:13:24] Were

[00:13:24] Going

[00:13:25] Notre

[00:13:25] Dame's

[00:13:25] Way

[00:13:27] And

[00:13:45] You know

[00:13:45] He

[00:13:45] Tens

[00:13:46] Had

[00:13:46] The

[00:13:46] Big

[00:13:46] Fumble

[00:13:46] Um

[00:13:47] You know

[00:13:48] That

[00:13:48] That

[00:13:49] Strip

[00:13:49] Sack

[00:13:50] I mean

[00:13:50] That

[00:13:50] Could

[00:13:50] Have

[00:13:50] Happened

[00:13:50] To

[00:13:51] Carson

[00:13:51] Beck

[00:13:51] Just

[00:13:51] The

[00:13:52] Same

[00:13:52] Um

[00:13:53] You

[00:13:53] You

[00:13:53] Know

[00:13:53] At

[00:13:54] First

[00:13:54] Half

[00:13:56] I

[00:13:56] Mean

[00:13:56] West

[00:13:57] Then

[00:13:57] Really

[00:13:57] Didn't

[00:13:58] Have

[00:13:58] A

[00:13:58] Bad

[00:13:58] Game

[00:13:59] I

[00:14:00] Mean

[00:14:00] He

[00:14:00] Wasn't

[00:14:01] Anything

[00:14:01] Exceptional

[00:14:02] But

[00:14:02] I

[00:14:02] Mean

[00:14:02] He

[00:14:02] Did

[00:14:03] He

[00:14:03] Did

[00:14:03] Nothing

[00:14:03] To

[00:14:04] Lose

[00:14:04] The

[00:14:04] Game

[00:14:04] For

[00:14:05] You

[00:14:05] Know

[00:14:05] Georgia

[00:14:07] And

[00:14:08] He

[00:14:08] Had

[00:14:08] A

[00:14:08] Month

[00:14:08] To

[00:14:08] Prepare

[00:14:10] Yeah

[00:14:10] I

[00:14:11] Think

[00:14:11] Even

[00:14:11] Carson

[00:14:12] Beck

[00:14:12] Plays

[00:14:12] If

[00:14:13] I

[00:14:15] Think

[00:14:16] I

[00:14:16] Still

[00:14:16] Would

[00:14:17] Have

[00:14:17] Thought

[00:14:17] Notre

[00:14:18] Dame

[00:14:18] Wins

[00:14:18] His

[00:14:18] Game

[00:14:19] Just

[00:14:19] With

[00:14:20] How

[00:14:20] Things

[00:14:20] Were

[00:14:20] Looking

[00:14:20] Because

[00:14:21] Really

[00:14:22] At

[00:14:22] No

[00:14:22] Point

[00:14:22] Did

[00:14:23] Carson

[00:14:24] Beck

[00:14:24] Look

[00:14:24] Like

[00:14:24] Oh

[00:14:25] Wow

[00:14:25] He

[00:14:26] Had

[00:14:26] Moments

[00:14:26] But

[00:14:27] Not

[00:14:27] Anything

[00:14:29] Yeah

[00:14:30] That

[00:14:30] Was

[00:14:31] The

[00:14:31] Story

[00:14:31] Of

[00:14:31] The

[00:14:31] Georgia

[00:14:32] Season

[00:14:32] Was

[00:14:32] Inconsistencies

[00:14:33] And

[00:14:34] You

[00:14:35] Know

[00:14:35] Whether

[00:14:35] That's

[00:14:36] A young

[00:14:36] Roster

[00:14:36] Or

[00:14:37] You

[00:14:37] Know

[00:14:37] Just

[00:14:37] The

[00:14:38] Guys

[00:14:38] Just

[00:14:38] Didn't

[00:14:39] Click

[00:14:39] For

[00:14:39] Him

[00:14:39] This

[00:14:39] Year

[00:14:40] You

[00:14:41] Know

[00:14:41] Kirby

[00:14:42] And

[00:14:42] His

[00:14:42] Staff

[00:14:43] They

[00:14:44] You

[00:14:45] Know

[00:14:45] The

[00:14:45] Newcomers

[00:14:45] Coming

[00:14:46] In

[00:14:46] And

[00:14:46] They

[00:14:47] You

[00:14:48] Know

[00:14:48] They

[00:14:48] Look

[00:14:48] For

[00:14:48] Their

[00:14:48] Stockton

[00:14:49] Their

[00:14:49] Quarterback

[00:14:50] Next

[00:14:50] Year

[00:14:50] Now

[00:14:50] That

[00:14:50] Beck

[00:14:51] Is

[00:14:51] Going

[00:14:51] To

[00:14:51] The

[00:14:51] Pro

[00:14:52] And

[00:14:53] They

[00:14:53] Brought

[00:14:53] A

[00:14:53] And

[00:14:54] They

[00:14:54] Brought

[00:14:55] In

[00:14:55] A

[00:14:55] Boatload

[00:14:55] Out

[00:14:55] The

[00:14:55] Transfer

[00:14:56] For

[00:14:56] receivers

[00:14:57] They

[00:14:58] Did

[00:14:58] Yeah

[00:14:59] Georgia

[00:14:59] Was

[00:14:59] Not

[00:15:00] Afraid

[00:15:00] They

[00:15:00] Went

[00:15:00] Out

[00:15:00] Got

[00:15:01] You

[00:15:01] Know

[00:15:01] I

[00:15:01] Was

[00:15:02] Hoping

[00:15:02] To

[00:15:02] Get

[00:15:02] Come

[00:15:03] Tuscaloosa

[00:15:03] Zachariah

[00:15:04] Branch

[00:15:06] He'll

[00:15:06] Be

[00:15:06] In

[00:15:06] Athens

[00:15:07] Instead

[00:15:08] They

[00:15:08] Got

[00:15:09] The

[00:15:09] Wide

[00:15:09] Receiver

[00:15:09] From

[00:15:10] Texas

[00:15:10] A&M

[00:15:12] Yeah

[00:15:12] So

[00:15:13] They

[00:15:14] Definitely

[00:15:14] Did

[00:15:15] Not

[00:15:15] You

[00:15:16] Know

[00:15:16] They

[00:15:16] Wanted

[00:15:16] To

[00:15:16] Stack

[00:15:17] That

[00:15:17] Receiver

[00:15:17] Room

[00:15:18] Like

[00:15:18] They

[00:15:18] Had

[00:15:18] Been

[00:15:18] Previous

[00:15:19] Years

[00:15:21] So

[00:15:22] We'll

[00:15:22] See

[00:15:22] How

[00:15:23] That

[00:15:23] Plays

[00:15:23] Out

[00:15:23] For

[00:15:24] Notre

[00:15:24] Dame

[00:15:24] They

[00:15:24] Go

[00:15:24] To

[00:15:24] Play

[00:15:25] Penn

[00:15:26] State

[00:15:26] And

[00:15:26] The

[00:15:28] Orange

[00:15:29] Bowl

[00:15:30] Tomorrow

[00:15:31] Night

[00:15:32] Thursday

[00:15:33] They

[00:15:34] Open

[00:15:34] As

[00:15:35] Around

[00:15:35] To

[00:15:35] One

[00:15:35] And

[00:15:35] A

[00:15:35] Half

[00:15:36] Point

[00:15:36] Favorite

[00:15:36] So

[00:15:37] That's

[00:15:38] That's

[00:15:38] Probably

[00:15:38] Right

[00:15:39] We

[00:15:39] We've

[00:15:39] Said

[00:15:39] That

[00:15:39] Notre

[00:15:40] Dane

[00:15:40] Is

[00:15:40] Probably

[00:15:40] Playing

[00:15:40] The

[00:15:41] Best

[00:15:41] Football

[00:15:41] In

[00:15:41] The

[00:15:41] Country

[00:15:42] For

[00:15:42] The

[00:15:43] Last

[00:15:43] Month

[00:15:43] Or

[00:15:43] So

[00:15:43] Of

[00:15:44] The

[00:15:44] Season

[00:15:45] Of

[00:15:45] Course

[00:15:45] Now

[00:15:46] You

[00:15:46] Have

[00:15:46] To

[00:15:46] Say

[00:15:46] You

[00:15:46] Know

[00:15:46] In

[00:15:47] The

[00:15:47] Playoff

[00:15:47] Ohio

[00:15:47] State

[00:15:48] Looks

[00:15:48] Oh

[00:15:49] Absolutely

[00:15:50] But

[00:15:51] This

[00:15:51] It'll

[00:15:51] Be

[00:16:05] It's

[00:16:05] Hard

[00:16:05] To

[00:16:06] Say

[00:16:06] Who's

[00:16:06] Going

[00:16:06] To

[00:16:06] Win

[00:16:06] That

[00:16:06] Game

[00:16:07] Like

[00:16:07] It's

[00:16:08] Just

[00:16:09] And

[00:16:10] I

[00:16:10] Think

[00:16:11] It

[00:16:11] Pretty

[00:16:12] Much

[00:16:12] Comes

[00:16:12] Down

[00:16:12] To

[00:16:14] Can

[00:16:15] They

[00:16:15] Stop

[00:16:15] Can

[00:16:16] They

[00:16:16] Force

[00:16:16] Riley

[00:16:17] Leonard

[00:16:17] Into

[00:16:17] Passing

[00:16:18] The

[00:16:18] Ball

[00:16:18] Because

[00:16:19] If

[00:16:20] He

[00:16:35] That

[00:16:35] You

[00:16:36] Know

[00:16:36] That

[00:16:36] That

[00:16:36] Be

[00:16:37] Penn

[00:16:37] State

[00:16:38] Big

[00:16:38] Thing

[00:16:40] But

[00:16:40] You

[00:16:40] Know

[00:16:40] If

[00:16:41] He

[00:16:41] Gets

[00:16:41] Those

[00:16:42] Timely

[00:16:43] Runs

[00:16:43] That

[00:16:43] He

[00:16:43] Always

[00:16:44] Seems

[00:16:44] To

[00:16:44] Get

[00:16:44] Then

[00:16:45] It

[00:16:45] Be

[00:16:45] Notre

[00:16:46] Dame

[00:16:47] Yeah

[00:16:47] You

[00:16:48] Can't

[00:16:49] Let

[00:16:49] Him

[00:16:49] Get

[00:16:49] Those

[00:16:49] Scrambles

[00:16:50] And

[00:16:50] Just

[00:16:50] Pick

[00:16:51] Up

[00:16:51] Those

[00:16:51] Cheap

[00:16:51] First

[00:16:52] Down

[00:16:52] That

[00:16:53] Extend

[00:16:53] Drives

[00:16:54] Because

[00:16:54] That's

[00:16:54] What

[00:16:54] He's

[00:16:54] So

[00:16:55] Good

[00:16:55] At

[00:16:56] Picking

[00:16:57] Up

[00:16:57] A

[00:16:57] 13

[00:16:57] Yard

[00:16:58] Scramble

[00:16:58] A

[00:16:58] Seven

[00:16:58] Yard

[00:16:59] Scramble

[00:16:59] And

[00:16:59] It

[00:16:59] Doesn't

[00:17:00] Seem

[00:17:00] Like

[00:17:00] Much

[00:17:00] At

[00:17:00] The

[00:17:00] Time

[00:17:01] But

[00:17:01] He's

[00:17:01] You

[00:17:02] Know

[00:17:02] It's

[00:17:02] A

[00:17:02] First

[00:17:02] Down

[00:17:02] Or

[00:17:03] Even

[00:17:03] Those

[00:17:04] Smaller

[00:17:04] Ones

[00:17:04] You

[00:17:04] Know

[00:17:04] Maybe

[00:17:20] It

[00:17:29] And

[00:17:29] The

[00:17:30] Other

[00:17:30] Thing

[00:17:31] Right

[00:17:31] On

[00:17:32] Penn

[00:17:32] State

[00:17:33] Side

[00:17:33] You

[00:17:34] Know

[00:17:34] This

[00:17:35] Time

[00:17:35] This

[00:17:36] Will

[00:17:36] Be

[00:17:36] The

[00:17:36] Time

[00:17:36] For

[00:17:36] Drew

[00:17:37] I

[00:17:37] Would

[00:17:37] To

[00:17:37] Show

[00:17:37] That

[00:17:37] He's

[00:17:38] A

[00:17:38] Star

[00:17:38] You

[00:17:39] Know

[00:17:40] He's

[00:17:40] You

[00:17:41] Know

[00:17:41] Getting

[00:17:41] Some

[00:17:41] Hype

[00:17:42] Now

[00:17:44] So

[00:17:44] I

[00:17:44] Mean

[00:17:44] All

[00:17:45] Eyes

[00:17:45] Will

[00:17:45] Be

[00:17:45] On

[00:17:45] Tomorrow

[00:17:45] Night

[00:17:46] You

[00:17:46] Know

[00:17:46] What

[00:17:47] Does

[00:17:47] He

[00:17:47] Do

[00:17:47] You

[00:17:48] Know

[00:17:48] As

[00:17:48] He

[00:17:49] And

[00:17:50] You

[00:17:50] Know

[00:17:50] In

[00:17:50] Other

[00:17:50] Big

[00:17:51] Games

[00:17:51] He

[00:17:52] Hasn't

[00:17:53] You

[00:17:53] Didn't

[00:17:54] Have

[00:17:54] A

[00:17:54] Really

[00:17:54] Good

[00:17:59] You

[00:17:59] Know

[00:17:59] He

[00:17:59] Had

[00:18:00] A

[00:18:00] Solid

[00:18:00] Big

[00:18:01] Big

[00:18:02] Ten

[00:18:02] Championship

[00:18:02] Game

[00:18:02] They

[00:18:03] Did

[00:18:03] Lose

[00:18:03] Oregon

[00:18:03] But

[00:18:04] He

[00:18:04] Had

[00:18:04] A

[00:18:04] Heck

[00:18:05] Of

[00:18:05] A

[00:18:05] Performance

[00:18:05] I

[00:18:06] Thought

[00:18:07] You

[00:18:07] Know

[00:18:22] We

[00:18:29] What

[00:18:32] Yeah

[00:18:32] Here's

[00:18:32] Yeah

[00:18:34] It's

[00:18:34] Real

[00:18:35] Now

[00:18:35] As

[00:18:35] You

[00:18:35] Would

[00:18:36] Say

[00:18:39] Like

[00:18:40] I

[00:18:40] Kind

[00:18:41] Of

[00:18:41] Have

[00:18:41] No

[00:18:41] Idea

[00:18:41] Either

[00:18:42] Way

[00:18:42] Which

[00:18:42] How

[00:18:42] This

[00:18:43] Goes

[00:18:43] I

[00:18:44] I'm

[00:18:44] Just

[00:18:44] Looking

[00:18:45] Forward

[00:18:45] To

[00:18:46] It

[00:18:47] I'm

[00:18:47] Acclaimed

[00:18:48] To

[00:18:48] Leave

[00:18:48] Notre

[00:18:48] Dame

[00:18:48] Because

[00:18:49] Of

[00:18:49] The

[00:18:49] Way

[00:18:49] They've

[00:18:49] Been

[00:18:49] Playing

[00:18:50] Penn

[00:18:50] State

[00:18:51] Is

[00:19:00] Yeah, you got to get Warren the ball.

[00:19:01] You got to get him the ball.

[00:19:02] He's a star.

[00:19:04] Yeah.

[00:19:05] And the other one, you know, Texas State, I think Texas, you know,

[00:19:10] their offense has to keep up with the Ohio State offense.

[00:19:13] They can't have those lapses like they've had at certain times this year.

[00:19:17] We know their defense is excellent.

[00:19:18] That's going to be a great test for that Ohio State offense.

[00:19:21] But if that offense is clicking,

[00:19:23] it's going to be hard for any defense to stop them.

[00:19:26] They'll just have to make a play here or there and slow them down enough

[00:19:29] and just hope that their offense can keep pace.

[00:19:32] Yeah, keep them the field goals.

[00:19:36] You know, they're going to have to keep them the field goals

[00:19:38] that they can't get an interception, something, turnover on their end, though.

[00:19:46] They can't, you know, at times we've seen viewers have a weird interception.

[00:19:53] He can't have that against Ohio State.

[00:19:55] He has to have the game of his life there.

[00:19:59] Interesting enough, going up against his first school there.

[00:20:02] You know, he started off at Ohio State.

[00:20:04] So that's interesting.

[00:20:06] You know, it doesn't seem like he had any ill will when he left.

[00:20:08] He just wanted to play, and he wasn't going to get that opportunity per se.

[00:20:12] So, you know, he came to Texas.

[00:20:14] And, you know, it's kind of a weird situation.

[00:20:19] I mean, it's more or less his last one, maybe two games in Texas regardless

[00:20:26] because Arch Manning obviously is a starter next year.

[00:20:28] And it's kind of weird.

[00:20:29] A dude just taking you to the two straight playoffs,

[00:20:31] and he really doesn't have a say whether he's going to stay at all.

[00:20:35] You know, he could go pro, of course, or he could transfer.

[00:20:37] No one expects him to be an Austin next year despite what he's done.

[00:20:41] It's a weird situation.

[00:20:43] Yeah, it is.

[00:20:44] It's, you know, the nature of the game now.

[00:20:46] But, you know, when you've got a talent like Arch Manning potential there,

[00:20:50] you've got to get him on the field before he decides he wants to go somewhere else.

[00:20:56] It'd be interesting to see if they have any packages for him.

[00:21:00] Yeah.

[00:21:01] It's weird, though.

[00:21:02] The viewers, I mean, he took them to the playoffs last year,

[00:21:04] came within a play of a national championship game,

[00:21:07] and then, you know, this year back in the semis again.

[00:21:11] And yet no one even anticipates he has a chance of being an Austin next year,

[00:21:16] which is weird.

[00:21:17] But, yeah, you know, he's playing for a lot because, you know,

[00:21:20] he's one of those guys that we see he's a talented guy.

[00:21:25] I mean, we saw it on that fourth and 13 play in the playoff.

[00:21:29] But, you know, can this be huge if he could pull off Ohio State?

[00:21:34] Because, you know, a lot of people are looking at this game

[00:21:36] and seeing blowout potential.

[00:21:38] Mm-hmm.

[00:21:40] Yeah, he's got to – yeah, he certainly will have something to prove there.

[00:21:46] Absolutely.

[00:21:49] Well, yeah, it should be a fun couple semifinals.

[00:21:52] I don't know, like, how much it benefits, but, I mean,

[00:21:56] they've seen, you know, Will before at Kansas State.

[00:22:00] So, they –

[00:22:00] Yeah, that's true.

[00:22:01] They come with the exception now.

[00:22:03] Of course, he's got a little bit more weapons than he did in Manhattan.

[00:22:06] Way more weapons.

[00:22:07] Yeah, way more weapons.

[00:22:09] And then for them –

[00:22:11] Kind of, I was going to say, a good story for all the teams there.

[00:22:14] You know, Texas looked for their first title since Vince Young.

[00:22:18] Ohio State won the first four-team playoff,

[00:22:21] looking to win the first 12-team playoff.

[00:22:23] Yeah.

[00:22:24] Penn State hasn't had a national title since, oof, 94.

[00:22:28] Did they split?

[00:22:29] I don't even think they actually split on 94.

[00:22:30] They didn't split.

[00:22:32] Yeah.

[00:22:33] I think 86.

[00:22:35] 86, yeah.

[00:22:36] And Notre Dame, 88 there.

[00:22:37] So, one fan base is going to have some happiness after some years of disappointment.

[00:22:45] Absolutely.

[00:22:45] You know, all in different ways.

[00:22:48] But –

[00:22:49] Yeah, absolutely.

[00:22:51] We said we've got the Orange Bowl tomorrow night, Thursday night,

[00:22:54] Penn State and Notre Dame.

[00:22:55] Then Friday will be the Cotton Bowl with Texas and Ohio State.

[00:23:02] Moving on, let's go – let's talk about our tide.

[00:23:05] In the midst of all this, they ended their season on a very disappointing note

[00:23:10] in the Relia Quest Bowl, formerly the Outback Bowl.

[00:23:14] Way cooler than that, big, bro.

[00:23:17] Yeah.

[00:23:17] At least you get a free side.

[00:23:18] The Outback Bowl.

[00:23:19] Yeah.

[00:23:21] Began the year losing to Michigan and ended the year losing to Michigan.

[00:23:25] I'm not ever done on Green Sea, really.

[00:23:28] Yeah, right?

[00:23:29] Just an absolute nightmare first quarter that the team just couldn't recover from.

[00:23:34] Defense played as well as it could have played given the situations they were put in.

[00:23:38] Terrible situation.

[00:23:39] Three first quarter turnovers and a turnover on downs for the tide.

[00:23:45] Michigan took advantage.

[00:23:48] And Alabama still somehow had a shot to win at the end there.

[00:23:52] Why?

[00:23:53] I didn't understand why we passed every down.

[00:23:57] Yeah.

[00:23:57] We could have still got the first down.

[00:23:59] We had time.

[00:24:00] We had timeouts.

[00:24:03] Deep pass, too, or at least end zone shots.

[00:24:05] I'm surprised we didn't.

[00:24:06] Yeah.

[00:24:08] And that's some of that play calling that a lot of people have just not been a fan of Nick Sheridan there.

[00:24:12] And it's looking, I'm guessing, like he's staying.

[00:24:17] Of course, one interesting development the other day, Ryan Grubbs was let go by the Seattle Seahawks.

[00:24:23] So who knows if maybe, yeah, he wants to get back on board with Kalen DeBoer or if he wants to stay out west for his family.

[00:24:33] Yeah, because he's been, I mean, he's been in Tusk Goose twice once he interviewed with Nick.

[00:24:37] Last year we thought he was coming.

[00:24:38] Decided to stay in Seattle for the kids.

[00:24:41] You know, I mean, it's an interesting story, but I don't know.

[00:24:44] I just don't think he's coming ever.

[00:24:47] No, yeah.

[00:24:48] It seems like for family reasons or whatever, and you can read Internet rumor, you know,

[00:24:52] your little wife doesn't want to live there, whatever, whatever.

[00:24:56] Yeah, it just doesn't seem like it will happen.

[00:24:59] And there's a little bit since you get kind of sense that Alabama and the staff,

[00:25:05] they're treating this like a mulligan year almost.

[00:25:07] Like, you know, maybe we didn't have the right players for this system.

[00:25:11] Maybe Jalen Milroy wasn't the right guy.

[00:25:15] Let's run it back next year with people who are more familiar with the system

[00:25:19] and maybe more suited for it and see how we do there.

[00:25:24] Like I said, I understand that.

[00:25:28] I'm not a fan of Sheridan's play calling in certain situations.

[00:25:31] We just talked about it at the end of the, you know, the Michigan game there.

[00:25:35] Yeah, because my main concern with him in this whole season,

[00:25:40] and I think it's everybody's concern, is, you know,

[00:25:45] if Jalen was able to run the ball, he was cool.

[00:25:49] But if Jalen was kind of shut down in any sense, he really didn't have any backup plan.

[00:25:57] Yeah, a lack, a worrying lack of response to blitzes too.

[00:26:02] And, you know, again, whether that's, you know, all Milrow or play calling or a mix of both,

[00:26:08] it's still something to be concerned about going forward.

[00:26:10] All right.

[00:26:11] You know, you want to see maybe some RPOs, some quick slants,

[00:26:16] get guys like Ryan Williams the ball in space and let him do his thing.

[00:26:21] Yeah, I mean, it's weird because – but the thing is, though, is like –

[00:26:27] but now we have a whole bunch of quarterbacks.

[00:26:29] Hey, Ty Simpson, I mean, could be okay, but doesn't have much plan, Tom.

[00:26:35] He's going to need a – he's going to need a great support from his, you know, OC,

[00:26:39] and I don't know if – I'm a little worried there for that.

[00:26:43] Then we have, of course, possibly Keelan Russell, the five-star from Texas.

[00:26:48] I mean, but, of course, moving up from high school to college, you know,

[00:26:52] he's just an early entry.

[00:26:54] But now – so he'll get, you know, workout, spring ball and all that.

[00:27:00] But, you know, and then the Mac guy came from Washington.

[00:27:04] But a bunch of guys that really don't have experience.

[00:27:07] So, you know, they're really going to be looking for the OC to put them in good spots.

[00:27:12] And we didn't see that this year.

[00:27:14] So hopefully more of their style he's able to work with.

[00:27:18] I don't know.

[00:27:19] Yeah, who knows?

[00:27:20] Maybe just the year and the system helps, you know, Mac and Ty Simpson.

[00:27:25] Yeah.

[00:27:26] Maybe Keelan Russell is just that dude and he comes in

[00:27:29] and blows everybody away in spring practice and wins the job.

[00:27:33] Right.

[00:27:33] And it doesn't look like, you know,

[00:27:35] I don't know if there's even anybody out there in the portal still left to go get

[00:27:38] or if anybody will jump out.

[00:27:40] You know, you never know.

[00:27:42] I mean, it's –

[00:27:42] We'll see after spring.

[00:27:44] Yeah, there's another portal in April.

[00:27:46] But, yeah, interesting.

[00:27:49] That's something that, yeah, the offense and staffs are going to have to figure out

[00:27:53] for next year.

[00:27:53] But I was going to say –

[00:27:54] So we talked about doing a season review.

[00:27:57] I think that's all I really want to talk about that Michigan game

[00:28:00] unless you have something else.

[00:28:01] But no.

[00:28:02] No.

[00:28:03] It's about as bad as possible.

[00:28:05] Yeah, I broke it down into the good, the bad, and the ugly.

[00:28:09] So which one would you like to start with?

[00:28:12] I mean, let's just –

[00:28:13] I don't know.

[00:28:14] I mean, let's start with the bad and end with the good.

[00:28:16] I don't know.

[00:28:17] All right.

[00:28:18] Start –

[00:28:18] Work it.

[00:28:19] So we'll go ugly, bad, good.

[00:28:21] You just want to work it from there.

[00:28:22] We've already started with the –

[00:28:23] Ugly.

[00:28:24] You know, we've already started with the Michigan game.

[00:28:26] I mean, that was ugly as could be.

[00:28:28] I was about to say, that was my ugly.

[00:28:29] My ugly was Vanderbilt, Oklahoma, Michigan.

[00:28:32] So, I mean –

[00:28:33] Yeah.

[00:28:34] I mean, I –

[00:28:35] Yeah.

[00:28:36] The other thing with that ugly that I don't like is we had basically two weeks

[00:28:43] to get ready for the Oklahoma game with the Mercer game in between,

[00:28:47] and they came out flat.

[00:28:50] Yeah.

[00:28:50] We had about a month for the bowl game, and I understand it's a bowl game,

[00:28:54] and it's not for the playoff, and it's not glamorous, but come on.

[00:28:58] I understand it was a monsoon down there, but that can't happen.

[00:29:04] Like, I mean, just the fumble, the, you know, the pick, the terrible pick.

[00:29:09] Like, we almost had a month to get ready, and that's what we're doing?

[00:29:13] Like, I don't know.

[00:29:16] Just frustrating that, you know, those games were –

[00:29:21] Yeah.

[00:29:21] And it was frustrating.

[00:29:23] Frustrating is the right word.

[00:29:24] Right.

[00:29:24] And then, you know, just the fact that, I mean, we had a chance, you know,

[00:29:31] even without a playoff appearance to still, you know, get our 17-10 win season.

[00:29:36] I mean, that's still a – and we, you know, fell short there.

[00:29:39] That was disappointing.

[00:29:40] I mean, and then to not be able to move on a Michigan defense that all the stars are out.

[00:29:47] That was –

[00:29:48] Yeah, that was really concerning.

[00:29:51] You know, for the most part, our first-string offense against their second-string defense.

[00:29:55] That's horrible.

[00:29:57] Yeah.

[00:29:57] Again, you say, okay, whatever about the early part of the game with the weather,

[00:30:02] but you can't be that bad.

[00:30:04] Michigan wasn't dropping everything.

[00:30:05] You know, it's not like it wasn't wet for them.

[00:30:07] So, you know, actually, it's funny.

[00:30:10] I had that under bad as well.

[00:30:12] You know, the seeming lack of prep for certain games, you know, not getting guys up.

[00:30:16] And, you know, in my head, the three that stand out are the Vanderbilt, Oklahoma, and Michigan.

[00:30:22] Because, you know, with Vandy, it was the week after that great Georgia win.

[00:30:25] I mean, I'll take the Vandy one because, you know, Vandy is much improved.

[00:30:30] I mean, that was a once-in-a-lifetime thing.

[00:30:32] I mean, the fact that they were able to just – Pavia just had to play the game out of his life.

[00:30:38] You know, they were able to put 40.

[00:30:40] But at least in that game, we responded in a sense.

[00:30:44] You know, we hit the comeback.

[00:30:45] We had a – you know, we couldn't stop a nosebleed that game.

[00:30:49] Probably really our only terrible defensive performance of the year.

[00:30:53] Absolutely, yeah.

[00:30:54] No, yeah.

[00:30:54] That was the second half of the Georgia game.

[00:30:57] But, yeah.

[00:30:58] But, I mean, for the – but, you know, in all the losses, the defense – and going into the season, I think all of us thought, man, if there's a downfall, it's going to be because of the defense.

[00:31:09] It's the exact opposite.

[00:31:11] You know, the defense kept us in everything.

[00:31:13] You know, they put in terrible position in the Oklahoma game with some bad turnovers.

[00:31:18] Same with the Michigan game.

[00:31:19] And they held tough.

[00:31:21] The Vandy game, you know, it happened.

[00:31:23] I mean, it's embarrassing.

[00:31:24] You don't expect it was a Vanderbilt.

[00:31:26] But you would have hoped that they responded from that.

[00:31:29] And it never really happened.

[00:31:32] Yeah.

[00:31:32] You know?

[00:31:33] Yeah, and along those lines, too –

[00:31:34] That would have been a rallying cry.

[00:31:36] Yeah, along those lines, the – there are certain games that felt like there's a lack of in-game adjustments.

[00:31:45] Or at least, you know, not enough, not timely enough.

[00:31:48] Yeah.

[00:31:49] The Tennessee – you know, the Vanderbilt game comes to mind because they were basically doing the same thing over and over.

[00:31:53] Remember, we just never switched defenses.

[00:31:55] We never really got a message to the players.

[00:31:58] You know, we just – it should have been – you know, we should have had the talent to stop them and get the ball back for our offense at the very least at the end.

[00:32:06] Absolutely.

[00:32:07] To let, yeah, Vanderbilt, you know, run the clock out on us was, you know, as we called it at the time, probably the most embarrassing loss in school history.

[00:32:14] And probably still stand by that considering the circumstances.

[00:32:18] The Oklahoma game we've covered ad nauseum.

[00:32:20] It's just ugly, terrible, you know, no good, bad day.

[00:32:26] You know, that Michigan bowl game was almost a repeat of that.

[00:32:29] Just a team that we should have ran out there.

[00:32:32] And could have ended, you know, a couple careers like Jalen Mill.

[00:32:36] We're on a high note instead.

[00:32:39] You know, not a good look for him going out like that.

[00:32:41] Yeah, and, you know, he got us down there toward the end, but that, you know, like we said, some questionable play calling.

[00:32:48] He really couldn't do much in that last pass.

[00:32:51] There was nobody open until it was too late, and he had a guy in his face and had to – couldn't have stepped into the throw.

[00:32:57] So, like you said, that was a more concerning play calling, like, you know, why we weren't trying to chip away and get another first down,

[00:33:06] get closer, run on the ball a little, or some short passes.

[00:33:09] I'm sure.

[00:33:11] Another sort of bad, but not really to me I had was, you know, the way that Ryan Williams kind of fell off toward the end of the year.

[00:33:20] But, you know, he's a kid, freshman, that tends to happen.

[00:33:23] I really – I had him as one of my things under good.

[00:33:26] So, unless is there anything else under bad that you'd want to cover before we move on?

[00:33:31] No, I think we pretty much covered the bad.

[00:33:35] Yeah, so, yeah, the good.

[00:33:37] I have three main ones.

[00:33:39] Ryan Williams, of course, you know, superstar.

[00:33:42] We knew he was good.

[00:33:42] We didn't know he could be this good.

[00:33:45] And despite, you know, his fall off in the last few games, he still led the team in receiving yards and touchdowns.

[00:33:52] Jeremy Bernard actually had two more receptions in them.

[00:33:56] I thought he was our most consistent receiver.

[00:33:59] I thought Bernard –

[00:34:00] Yeah, for sure.

[00:34:01] You know, he was kind of turned into almost a possession guy.

[00:34:04] I mean, he had some big catches.

[00:34:06] And, you know, he showed a lot of grit.

[00:34:09] I'm excited to see what he does in his second year in the system.

[00:34:13] Yeah.

[00:34:13] Of course, announced – what was that?

[00:34:15] Today that he's –

[00:34:16] Yeah, he's coming back.

[00:34:17] Indeed will be back in 2025, which is great.

[00:34:23] I have that.

[00:34:24] That's another one of my points.

[00:34:25] Recruiting slash keeping guys here.

[00:34:28] You know, a lot of people worried other schools are bringing us so much into Portland.

[00:34:32] Alabama hasn't brought in much.

[00:34:33] You know, the linebacker from Colorado, the receiver from Miami.

[00:34:36] But we've kept a lot of guys.

[00:34:39] A lot of guys have decided to stay here.

[00:34:42] Especially on the defensive side.

[00:34:44] Yeah, and Buke, you know, went into the portal and came right back out.

[00:34:47] And then, you know, was going to get some time at receiver.

[00:34:50] So, that would be interesting.

[00:34:53] You know, we've got a lot of guys like Bernard that are deciding to stay.

[00:34:56] You know, the only two real people – big losses we got.

[00:35:01] You know, Jayla Milrow is going pro.

[00:35:03] But, you know, that could be a good thing.

[00:35:05] But according to a lot of Bama fans.

[00:35:07] And Jihad Campbell.

[00:35:12] And other than that, you know, it's –

[00:35:14] I mean, it's some guys.

[00:35:16] But it's guys that either A, never played.

[00:35:20] We don't know if they're good or not because they, you know, didn't get on the field.

[00:35:24] So, you know, I guess the biggest concern, I guess, the only thing is some of the guys are young.

[00:35:29] So, you would think, man, he could be good.

[00:35:32] But we got a lot.

[00:35:34] But for this year coming up, I will take all the veteran guys that are coming back for their fourth, fifth, sixth years.

[00:35:42] Absolutely, yeah.

[00:35:44] Yeah.

[00:35:45] And, you know, there's an offensive line we might want to – yeah.

[00:35:49] Yeah, Lawson's coming back.

[00:35:51] Jefferson's coming back on defense.

[00:35:52] Yeah.

[00:35:54] The guys that we've got coming back on D plus a couple of these freshmen coming in, it's really exciting.

[00:35:59] And, you know, that kind of ties into my other thing I had.

[00:36:03] The defense improved all year.

[00:36:04] Instead of, like we said, there was the Oklahoma game was this weird outlier.

[00:36:08] And the offense didn't do much to help them there.

[00:36:11] But they still did about 24.

[00:36:13] Exactly.

[00:36:14] Yeah.

[00:36:15] Yeah.

[00:36:15] And, you know, the rushing yards was obviously concerning from a guy who hadn't done that all year.

[00:36:21] But, you know, so that's something to worry about.

[00:36:24] You know, going forward again, it's like hopefully there's not some weird thing with this defense and, you know, option quarterbacks like that.

[00:36:31] But, you know, we did shut down other running quarterbacks this year.

[00:36:34] So, that was improved, you know, kind of early on the defense was my bigger worry.

[00:36:42] And then it kind of flipped where the defense became our steady hand.

[00:36:47] You know, that Michigan game could have been really out of hand early on, you know.

[00:36:51] But they kept holding Michigan to field goals.

[00:36:54] Absolutely.

[00:36:55] They did a lot defensively.

[00:36:57] Even, you know, in the Oklahoma game, as bad as it was.

[00:37:00] I mean, they went and had some bad turnovers in that game.

[00:37:02] And, you know, they could have been worse than what it was.

[00:37:05] I mean.

[00:37:06] Yeah.

[00:37:06] I mean, you got to think outside of the Vanderbilt 40 and then the win against Georgia where they gave up, you know, 30-some.

[00:37:15] Mm-hmm.

[00:37:16] And, you know, kind of a weird second half.

[00:37:19] But you kind of expected Georgia to come back a little bit.

[00:37:22] But, you know, outside of that, the defense overall played pretty well.

[00:37:26] I mean, they kept them in every game.

[00:37:28] I mean, we had a plethora of opportunities.

[00:37:31] The defense put them in a lot of good spots against Tennessee, and eventually they just got tired.

[00:37:36] I mean, and Dillon was able to run on us a little bit.

[00:37:39] But that didn't come until late once the defense was like, you know, they put the offense in several positions to win that game.

[00:37:47] You know, the turnovers in the first half.

[00:37:49] And then, you know, even it came down to the end.

[00:37:52] They held them at the end and gave Jalen one more series.

[00:37:57] Yeah.

[00:37:59] So, I mean, if anything, you know, we were – no one liked Ken Walmick to start the year.

[00:38:07] But, you know, he – maybe, you know, I'm sure some people still wondered about the system there.

[00:38:13] But, you know, they came through in the clutch.

[00:38:15] I like the – and the other thing, too, we had a lot of young guys in the secondary,

[00:38:22] and they played pretty well for young guys.

[00:38:25] I mean, no one really got destroyed or –

[00:38:29] Exactly, yeah.

[00:38:30] No one really just was that bad this year.

[00:38:33] You know, it would hurt to lose Malachi Moore back there in his leadership.

[00:38:36] But, you know, hopefully these young guys step up.

[00:38:40] Keon Sab also announced today that he's coming back.

[00:38:42] So, that's huge.

[00:38:45] Yeah, so the retainment by this staff has been great.

[00:38:49] And that's something that I think a lot of people overlook in this era of the portal.

[00:38:52] It's all, who did you bring in?

[00:38:53] Who's the big guy?

[00:38:54] And sometimes it's just about keeping those guys there that already know your system,

[00:38:58] that are going to improve.

[00:39:00] It's what we've talked about before.

[00:39:02] Nick Saban, you know, talks about the downside of the portal era

[00:39:06] is that people just bounce from school to school,

[00:39:08] and they don't really get a consistent coaching and development there.

[00:39:12] Right.

[00:39:13] So, when you can keep guys in, it's pretty huge in this day.

[00:39:16] So, I really like that.

[00:39:20] Go ahead.

[00:39:21] I like the wide receiver from Miami.

[00:39:23] I think he could be a good get.

[00:39:26] That's a strong, yeah, that's a strong top three right there

[00:39:30] between him, Bernard, and Ryan Williams.

[00:39:32] And plus, you know, whoever we got, younger guys getting a shot.

[00:39:36] Should be exciting next year.

[00:39:39] A lot of excitement leading into next year.

[00:39:42] Either way, we've got to figure out how to run the ball.

[00:39:45] So, absolutely, yeah.

[00:39:46] Got to give it to the backs.

[00:39:47] Got to get, you know, Justice Haynes is in Michigan now.

[00:39:50] So, Jan Miller, you know, he's going to be the man.

[00:39:54] What was it?

[00:39:56] Young.

[00:39:58] He, you know, he'll step up.

[00:40:00] We got some other guys coming in.

[00:40:02] We got to run the ball with our running backs.

[00:40:04] That's just, you got to do it to keep the D.

[00:40:07] And we know that.

[00:40:08] We've talked about it.

[00:40:09] We know they can run the ball.

[00:40:10] We saw them do it the national championship year.

[00:40:12] And so, like, why?

[00:40:15] And I still understand that.

[00:40:17] The other thing, too, is the big worry is just that right side of the offensive line.

[00:40:22] You know, of course, Pritchard, he's gone to Nebraska.

[00:40:27] So, he's gone.

[00:40:28] Yeah, Booker's in the draft, yeah.

[00:40:29] There's a draft.

[00:40:31] But that right side was just a headache all year.

[00:40:37] Yeah, we'll see.

[00:40:38] I don't know.

[00:40:39] Again, we'll see if there's some things out in the portal they can address that.

[00:40:43] Or if some younger guys or just some guys that didn't get playing time this year might step up and be ready for it.

[00:40:48] But...

[00:40:48] Yeah, we did get the big dude from, like, the Mac who hadn't played much football, I don't think.

[00:40:54] Oh, yeah.

[00:40:54] He's, like, 6'3", 30.

[00:41:00] But, he's...

[00:41:02] I don't...

[00:41:03] Let's see.

[00:41:04] I know Jaden Roberts is coming back off the line.

[00:41:06] So, I mean, I know he got hurt last year.

[00:41:08] So, that's another big one.

[00:41:10] Should help out on the line some.

[00:41:13] But, yeah, I mean, it's just...

[00:41:14] And the thing is, is honestly, we haven't had a good offensive line in a while.

[00:41:21] You know, to the level that we came accustomed to.

[00:41:23] So, yeah, that certainly is one thing that's been missing.

[00:41:27] Even in the latter Saban years, that kind of used to be the Alabama trademark.

[00:41:31] Their offensive line was going to be one of, if not the best in the country.

[00:41:35] Absolutely.

[00:41:36] Whether we were run first or pass first offense, it didn't matter.

[00:41:39] The line is where we won the lost games.

[00:41:41] And, yeah, got to be nice to get back to that.

[00:41:45] You know, other good things this year.

[00:41:47] A fifth straight win over Auburn.

[00:41:49] Always good there.

[00:41:51] The blowout win of LSU and Baton Rouge.

[00:41:54] That's always nice.

[00:41:55] Always fun.

[00:41:56] Yeah.

[00:41:56] Yeah.

[00:41:56] The Georgia win.

[00:41:58] You know, a game a lot of people kind of assumed would be a loss early on.

[00:42:01] And, you know, for at least that first half, we were not only just beating them,

[00:42:05] but running them out of Tuscaloosa.

[00:42:07] And even when they did, you know, do the improbable and came back, took the lead,

[00:42:11] we had a huge, you know, Ryan Williams star-making play and performance.

[00:42:15] Right.

[00:42:16] Yeah.

[00:42:17] You know, it's a highlight of the year for sure.

[00:42:19] You can't take that away.

[00:42:21] Right.

[00:42:23] I think we said before the year it'd be a disappointment if we didn't make the playoffs.

[00:42:27] So, you know, this year, to me anyway, I'll let you chime in here too.

[00:42:31] But to me it is a disappointment just in the way that it went down.

[00:42:36] And, you know, we've talked about this before.

[00:42:38] It's one thing if even if it's keep the teams that we lost to, you know,

[00:42:43] if it was just a close, heart-wrecking, you know,

[00:42:46] Oklahoma just played the game of their lives, but we played well too.

[00:42:49] And just they just got it better.

[00:42:51] You know, the bounces went their way.

[00:42:53] Kind of like that A&M game a couple years ago we lost.

[00:42:56] Exactly.

[00:42:57] Yeah.

[00:42:57] Because, yeah, that was an average.

[00:42:59] That was like an 8-5 A&M team.

[00:43:01] They weren't even the rest of the game.

[00:43:02] They just played out of their mind.

[00:43:04] They were conversation.

[00:43:04] Yeah.

[00:43:05] Exactly.

[00:43:05] Yeah.

[00:43:06] And the same thing with the bowl game.

[00:43:08] If something, you know, Michigan just, you know, stepped up and Jalen,

[00:43:12] it was the way, it was just the way we lost games.

[00:43:15] You know, the seeming regression of Jalen Milrow,

[00:43:20] especially after that first month through that Vanderbilt game even,

[00:43:22] he played well during that.

[00:43:25] But particularly after that Georgia game, that star making, you know,

[00:43:28] he looked like he was in line to compete for the Heisman and to lead us.

[00:43:31] You know, all of a sudden we went from thinking that like, okay,

[00:43:35] well, you know, we're probably going to have a decent year,

[00:43:39] but to like, oh man, we might have a shot at the national title.

[00:43:43] And then he kind of regressed.

[00:43:45] And we mentioned, you know, if things didn't go his way early,

[00:43:48] he kind of really went in a shell.

[00:43:50] And the offensive staff had nothing to help that.

[00:43:54] Yeah.

[00:43:55] And that's the thing with, you know, I wrote an article about it.

[00:43:59] And, you know, overall,

[00:44:03] Jalen's going to leave a complicated legacy at Alabama.

[00:44:07] Because there's so much love about the guy and so much good he did,

[00:44:11] but then there's so much frustrating things as well.

[00:44:14] Yeah.

[00:44:15] I think long term though, I think like, you know,

[00:44:18] we look back 10, 15 years down the road,

[00:44:20] I think Jalen will be looked at a little more fondly than what people look at

[00:44:25] him right now.

[00:44:27] But, you know, because he's a good guy.

[00:44:31] You know, he, obviously he loves Alabama.

[00:44:37] You know, it's just some stuff that didn't go with.

[00:44:40] You know, some of it, I, and, you know,

[00:44:44] some of it definitely on him, of course.

[00:44:46] I mean, he's a quarterback.

[00:44:47] So, I mean, whether he has the play calling that he needs or not,

[00:44:51] you know, some of those things, you're like, dude,

[00:44:53] why are you still doing this?

[00:44:56] Yeah, exactly.

[00:44:58] But then, you know, you look at it too.

[00:45:00] And I mean,

[00:45:00] he had two inexperienced play callers in back-to-back seasons.

[00:45:04] I mean,

[00:45:04] he had Tommy Reese who got better at times and then regressed in the Rose Bowl.

[00:45:09] And then,

[00:45:10] and then you had this year and there wasn't any really second option.

[00:45:16] Like we said,

[00:45:16] if he was running the ball well out the gate, then, hey,

[00:45:19] we were good to go.

[00:45:20] So, but you know, if they shut down the run right away,

[00:45:23] like Oklahoma did, we saw Michigan shut it down.

[00:45:26] Then it's like, oh, what are we doing now?

[00:45:30] And you know, I mean,

[00:45:31] it's a big jump going from a tight ends coach to a,

[00:45:34] to a offensive coordinator.

[00:45:37] Yeah.

[00:45:37] Especially kind of last minute situation.

[00:45:41] In a new conference with players you don't really know yet.

[00:45:44] Yeah.

[00:45:44] Yeah.

[00:45:45] So, I mean, it's a big jump.

[00:45:47] I mean,

[00:45:47] I know it's a lot of people that want to get rid of them.

[00:45:51] And, you know,

[00:45:53] at times I was right there with them,

[00:45:55] but then, you know,

[00:45:56] when you're in game,

[00:45:57] you get pissed off,

[00:45:58] but you know,

[00:45:59] I guess,

[00:46:00] you know,

[00:46:00] at least got to give them another year unless Ryan Grubb is coming.

[00:46:03] Then yeah,

[00:46:03] you got to go back to being tight end coach.

[00:46:05] But other than that,

[00:46:07] I mean,

[00:46:07] you at least got to give them a second year.

[00:46:09] See,

[00:46:09] you know,

[00:46:10] maybe he has more of a quarterback he can work with,

[00:46:15] you know,

[00:46:15] more of a,

[00:46:16] I guess,

[00:46:16] a passer.

[00:46:19] Then,

[00:46:19] you know,

[00:46:19] maybe he'll make,

[00:46:21] and then,

[00:46:22] you know,

[00:46:22] I'm sure he wanted a lot this year.

[00:46:24] As long as he's learned something and gets better from that,

[00:46:28] you know,

[00:46:28] over the spring,

[00:46:29] summer,

[00:46:30] then I'm cool.

[00:46:32] But just a matter of,

[00:46:34] we have to see progression.

[00:46:37] Yeah,

[00:46:38] no,

[00:46:38] for sure.

[00:46:39] I think that's the big thing.

[00:46:41] Yeah.

[00:46:41] I,

[00:46:41] I both understand the university stance or,

[00:46:44] you know,

[00:46:44] Kaelin divorce if they do want to keep them and make no change.

[00:46:48] No,

[00:46:48] granted,

[00:46:48] they've already,

[00:46:49] you know,

[00:46:49] they have made a change to the defensive staff,

[00:46:51] secondary coaches,

[00:46:52] let go and some reshuffling around.

[00:46:55] And interesting.

[00:46:57] I don't know if you caught a post.

[00:46:59] I forget who it was now.

[00:47:01] There was a player in the secondary.

[00:47:04] I don't know if you saw that.

[00:47:05] He,

[00:47:05] yeah,

[00:47:06] you know,

[00:47:06] basically said,

[00:47:07] thank the Lord when,

[00:47:08] you know,

[00:47:08] and screenshotted a news post about the coach getting fired.

[00:47:12] So that's,

[00:47:13] that's interesting.

[00:47:15] Uh,

[00:47:15] some behind the scenes stuff there,

[00:47:17] but yeah,

[00:47:18] I mean,

[00:47:19] I understand.

[00:47:19] Yeah.

[00:47:20] I was saying,

[00:47:21] I understand if the schools,

[00:47:22] you know,

[00:47:23] doing the mulligan year,

[00:47:23] like I said,

[00:47:24] if they're going to be like,

[00:47:25] okay,

[00:47:25] well,

[00:47:26] uh,

[00:47:27] you know,

[00:47:27] we didn't have the right quarterback or,

[00:47:28] you know,

[00:47:29] this is a first year kind of,

[00:47:31] you know,

[00:47:32] wash it,

[00:47:32] you know,

[00:47:33] and then we'll see how it goes from there.

[00:47:35] But yeah,

[00:47:35] there's got to be a clear progression next year.

[00:47:37] This,

[00:47:38] uh,

[00:47:38] gotta be,

[00:47:39] I think,

[00:47:39] you know,

[00:47:41] a playoff berth next year,

[00:47:42] even though the schedule is going to be just as tough next year,

[00:47:45] if not tougher.

[00:47:46] Uh,

[00:47:48] I think you gotta,

[00:47:49] uh,

[00:47:50] I think maybe next year,

[00:47:51] if the offense is disappointing again,

[00:47:53] then it's shared in that goes.

[00:47:54] And then,

[00:47:55] you know,

[00:47:55] year three,

[00:47:57] Kalen DeBoer starts on the hot seat.

[00:47:58] I wouldn't put him on the hot seat yet.

[00:47:59] I know,

[00:48:00] you know,

[00:48:00] guys like fine bomb want to say that,

[00:48:02] but that's just,

[00:48:03] it's ridiculous.

[00:48:04] He has to,

[00:48:05] because I mean,

[00:48:05] that's,

[00:48:06] what's going to get him clicks and listens.

[00:48:08] And of course he's the most dramatic,

[00:48:10] but,

[00:48:10] but we also know,

[00:48:12] I mean,

[00:48:12] he's who he is because of Alabama,

[00:48:14] whether good winner,

[00:48:15] good better than the others.

[00:48:17] I mean,

[00:48:17] he has to say crazy things.

[00:48:20] No,

[00:48:20] for sure.

[00:48:21] And,

[00:48:21] uh,

[00:48:21] I think you,

[00:48:23] you mentioned the legacy of Jalen Milrow and the complicated it will be.

[00:48:26] And I agree.

[00:48:28] And he was in a tough situation too.

[00:48:29] You know,

[00:48:30] look at the guys he had to follow,

[00:48:31] you know,

[00:48:31] Bryce young.

[00:48:32] And before him was Mack Jones for him was to,

[00:48:35] that was Jalen hurts,

[00:48:37] you know,

[00:48:38] I mean,

[00:48:38] all guys who've been,

[00:48:39] got drafted.

[00:48:40] Yeah.

[00:48:41] And first and second round,

[00:48:42] the NFL,

[00:48:43] um,

[00:48:44] you know,

[00:48:45] um,

[00:48:46] you know,

[00:48:46] Bryce is coming around as a starter.

[00:48:49] We know two of when he's healthy,

[00:48:50] still a great quarterback,

[00:48:52] Mack Jones.

[00:48:53] Uh,

[00:48:54] yeah.

[00:48:54] And then of course,

[00:48:55] Jalen,

[00:48:56] Jalen,

[00:48:56] um,

[00:48:57] you know,

[00:48:58] hopefully he'll be healthy this weekend.

[00:49:00] Um,

[00:49:00] you know,

[00:49:01] with that concussion,

[00:49:02] but,

[00:49:02] you know,

[00:49:03] can't really,

[00:49:04] uh,

[00:49:05] pick things up after a tough end of their season last year.

[00:49:09] I mean,

[00:49:10] before he got hurt,

[00:49:11] the Eagles were looking like,

[00:49:13] wow.

[00:49:13] They,

[00:49:14] you know,

[00:49:14] they're really coming on.

[00:49:16] Yeah.

[00:49:16] So,

[00:49:17] uh,

[00:49:17] but no,

[00:49:18] yeah.

[00:49:18] So tough legacy for Jalen,

[00:49:19] middle road to fall.

[00:49:20] But I think,

[00:49:21] I don't think,

[00:49:22] you know,

[00:49:23] Alabama fans need to,

[00:49:25] you know,

[00:49:25] drive off the cliff just yet.

[00:49:28] yeah.

[00:49:28] Like I said,

[00:49:29] the recruiting class is number two.

[00:49:31] I think right now is a consensus number two ranked recruiting class.

[00:49:34] They're keeping a lot of key players in positions.

[00:49:37] And,

[00:49:38] you know,

[00:49:38] there's still the April portal too.

[00:49:39] You know,

[00:49:40] there's still after spring practice,

[00:49:42] maybe some guys realize they won't be starters somewhere else,

[00:49:45] but can get some better playing time or whatever in Tuscaloosa.

[00:49:48] So,

[00:49:49] yeah,

[00:49:49] uh,

[00:49:50] I think,

[00:49:51] yeah,

[00:49:51] overall a little bit of a disappointing first season,

[00:49:53] but I think there's reason for optimism.

[00:49:57] Absolutely.

[00:49:59] Um,

[00:49:59] yeah,

[00:50:00] I,

[00:50:00] you know,

[00:50:00] I think we just have to be patient and let it play out a little bit,

[00:50:04] see how this team gels.

[00:50:05] Um,

[00:50:06] but you know,

[00:50:07] you just have to,

[00:50:08] hopefully this coaching staff's learned a lot in their first year in the

[00:50:11] sec.

[00:50:12] Um,

[00:50:13] you know,

[00:50:13] Kayla,

[00:50:14] hopefully he's learned some things.

[00:50:17] Um,

[00:50:18] main thing with him.

[00:50:19] I mean,

[00:50:19] I'm not,

[00:50:20] some of the stuff that Alabama fans worry about stupid.

[00:50:22] Like,

[00:50:23] I don't care.

[00:50:23] I don't care what you wear to the game.

[00:50:25] Not a big deal to me.

[00:50:26] Wear T.

[00:50:27] I don't care.

[00:50:27] Wear a damn tank top.

[00:50:29] I don't give a shit.

[00:50:29] It doesn't matter if you're coaching.

[00:50:32] you're coaching.

[00:50:33] so I mean,

[00:50:34] but you know,

[00:50:35] main thing with him is he's got to learn how to make necessary adjustments.

[00:50:45] Um,

[00:50:48] and the other thing I was disappointed with him is if when Nick Sheridan is

[00:50:52] struggling with the offense,

[00:50:55] I was kind of displaying,

[00:50:56] he really never stepped in.

[00:50:58] I understand.

[00:50:59] I understand.

[00:50:59] Maybe he was just letting them learn,

[00:51:00] but dude,

[00:51:01] you got an offensive background.

[00:51:04] Like help him out a little bit.

[00:51:06] If need be,

[00:51:07] you know?

[00:51:07] Yeah.

[00:51:08] Yeah.

[00:51:08] Like we said,

[00:51:09] some of the lacking,

[00:51:10] the seeming lack of adjustments or,

[00:51:12] you know,

[00:51:12] whatever,

[00:51:13] I think we'll find out a lot as,

[00:51:15] you know,

[00:51:16] the practice rolls on and we get into next season,

[00:51:19] I think we'll learn more about how much was on the coaches and how much was on

[00:51:23] the players and,

[00:51:24] you know,

[00:51:24] the limitations of Jalen.

[00:51:26] I think the other guys there.

[00:51:28] Yeah.

[00:51:28] So I,

[00:51:28] I'm putting about 50,

[00:51:30] 50 in my mind.

[00:51:32] Yeah,

[00:51:32] no.

[00:51:32] And that's yeah,

[00:51:33] because I think it's not,

[00:51:35] it's not all the players.

[00:51:36] It's not all the coaches,

[00:51:37] but somewhere they needed to,

[00:51:38] somewhere in the middle.

[00:51:40] Yeah.

[00:51:40] Cause you know,

[00:51:43] and I think the other thing too is sometimes,

[00:51:47] I mean,

[00:51:48] it's his personality and I don't mind the personality.

[00:51:50] Like,

[00:51:50] you know,

[00:51:51] people that,

[00:51:51] why isn't he yelling it?

[00:51:53] I don't mind about that,

[00:51:54] but I think sometimes he's just so cool and let him,

[00:51:58] you know,

[00:51:58] he wants to be everybody's friend that,

[00:52:01] you know,

[00:52:01] he,

[00:52:02] I don't know.

[00:52:03] Sometimes it was a little too loyal.

[00:52:05] Let's stuff slide.

[00:52:06] Normally you're like,

[00:52:08] why are we letting this happen?

[00:52:10] You know,

[00:52:11] whether it be if,

[00:52:12] you know,

[00:52:13] bright,

[00:52:13] you know,

[00:52:14] not bright,

[00:52:14] excuse me,

[00:52:15] if Jay was having a bad game,

[00:52:16] you know,

[00:52:17] sit him a little bit,

[00:52:19] you know,

[00:52:20] have to pull him for the season,

[00:52:21] anything dramatic like that,

[00:52:23] but you know,

[00:52:24] sit him down for a little bit.

[00:52:25] Yeah.

[00:52:27] You know,

[00:52:27] maybe that puts a message to him.

[00:52:30] You look at other things like,

[00:52:32] um,

[00:52:34] and,

[00:52:34] you know,

[00:52:35] that was a problem at the end of Nick Saban's tenure too.

[00:52:38] So you can't say it's necessarily just a Kayla and the board,

[00:52:41] but just the,

[00:52:42] you know,

[00:52:43] a time just to discipline and just,

[00:52:46] uh,

[00:52:46] same,

[00:52:47] same dumb penalties,

[00:52:48] you know,

[00:52:51] untimely,

[00:52:52] uh,

[00:52:52] false start,

[00:52:53] um,

[00:52:54] you know,

[00:52:55] just some stuff to,

[00:52:57] you know,

[00:52:57] put you behind the eight ball.

[00:53:00] Obviously we didn't need that with how our offense was.

[00:53:03] We needed all the advantage we could get.

[00:53:05] It seemed that we always seem to have some dumb penalties on that offensive side.

[00:53:09] That's a ball.

[00:53:10] Yeah.

[00:53:10] Just some,

[00:53:11] you know,

[00:53:11] clean up some things like that.

[00:53:13] And I think we're in,

[00:53:14] we're in solid shape.

[00:53:15] Yeah.

[00:53:16] Because I mean,

[00:53:16] honestly,

[00:53:17] I mean,

[00:53:19] at the end of the season,

[00:53:22] you know,

[00:53:22] we were still,

[00:53:24] you know,

[00:53:24] it's not good to us,

[00:53:25] but it's still not nine wins.

[00:53:27] It's not good for us,

[00:53:28] but overall,

[00:53:29] I mean,

[00:53:29] it could,

[00:53:30] it could have been worse.

[00:53:31] And I mean,

[00:53:33] we look at it too.

[00:53:34] I mean,

[00:53:35] if,

[00:53:36] you know,

[00:53:37] if SMU were beating Clemson,

[00:53:38] we're probably in the playoffs.

[00:53:40] So,

[00:53:40] I mean,

[00:53:40] it just shows you how a couple of things go differently.

[00:53:44] And even despite the,

[00:53:46] despite the disappointments,

[00:53:47] I mean,

[00:53:48] we were still right there if possible as a playoff team.

[00:53:51] Um,

[00:53:51] and you know,

[00:53:52] I'm sure our effort would have been way different.

[00:53:55] I would assume than it was going into the real life.

[00:53:59] Well,

[00:54:00] I would have hoped so,

[00:54:01] but yeah,

[00:54:02] you know,

[00:54:03] but who knows?

[00:54:05] But yeah,

[00:54:05] I think,

[00:54:06] you know,

[00:54:06] it's just a matter of the second year just has to look better,

[00:54:09] more crisp and just get consistency.

[00:54:14] Yeah.

[00:54:15] Like we are right.

[00:54:16] Consistency.

[00:54:17] That's,

[00:54:17] you know,

[00:54:17] the key to winning titles,

[00:54:19] right.

[00:54:19] Is to do things,

[00:54:22] Consistently.

[00:54:23] Yeah.

[00:54:23] Yeah.

[00:54:24] You're not going to be great every game.

[00:54:25] You don't have to be great every game.

[00:54:28] Like we're not going to have the first out that we have against Georgia every

[00:54:31] week.

[00:54:32] I don't expect that,

[00:54:34] but it seemed like it was either at the top or it was all the way at the

[00:54:39] bottom.

[00:54:40] We got to have a middle.

[00:54:42] Like I don't expect a great game every week,

[00:54:44] but we can't be terrible when we're,

[00:54:46] when,

[00:54:46] when things aren't going well.

[00:54:47] And it was either we were great or we were terrible.

[00:54:50] There was no mid,

[00:54:51] mid,

[00:54:51] mid,

[00:54:52] mid ground.

[00:54:54] Uh,

[00:54:56] yeah.

[00:54:56] So,

[00:54:56] you know,

[00:54:57] that,

[00:54:57] that's it.

[00:54:58] It was the season.

[00:54:59] It's,

[00:54:59] it's over and it's basketball season now.

[00:55:01] And,

[00:55:02] uh,

[00:55:04] yeah.

[00:55:04] And this is all part of,

[00:55:05] you know,

[00:55:06] what we talked about way back when Kalen DeBoer first got hired.

[00:55:09] It's,

[00:55:09] you know,

[00:55:10] Hey,

[00:55:10] this is an adjustment Alabama fans have to make.

[00:55:12] We are no longer the,

[00:55:14] in the midst of the greatest dynasty in the history of the sport.

[00:55:17] We're,

[00:55:17] we are back to mortal.

[00:55:20] Yeah.

[00:55:20] And we just have to hope that we can still compete and,

[00:55:24] you know,

[00:55:24] win the occasional national title,

[00:55:26] but yeah,

[00:55:26] that we have a standard that we did not play up to this year.

[00:55:30] And then we just need to return to that.

[00:55:31] And it's not,

[00:55:33] we weren't so far off of it that it's worrisome.

[00:55:36] Uh,

[00:55:37] we're close enough.

[00:55:38] It's right there.

[00:55:39] Yeah.

[00:55:39] Well,

[00:55:40] like I said,

[00:55:40] you just need to see improvement next year.

[00:55:43] Consistency.

[00:55:43] Yeah,

[00:55:43] exactly.

[00:55:45] I mean,

[00:55:45] and that's the other thing too,

[00:55:47] that,

[00:55:47] that I do look as a good thing.

[00:55:49] I mean,

[00:55:50] despite us not winning the sec,

[00:55:52] being part of the championship,

[00:55:53] there's no team that I feel is well ahead of us.

[00:55:57] Yes.

[00:55:58] Georgia won the sec,

[00:55:59] but they're a beatable team,

[00:56:01] Texas.

[00:56:02] And their semifinals,

[00:56:03] but there's nothing like,

[00:56:04] Oh my gosh,

[00:56:05] we'll never be able to compete with that.

[00:56:07] You know,

[00:56:08] there's good time with the teams,

[00:56:09] of course.

[00:56:10] Uh,

[00:56:10] but I mean,

[00:56:11] there's nowhere where you're like,

[00:56:12] Oh man,

[00:56:13] we fell out that hard.

[00:56:14] If there's,

[00:56:15] yeah,

[00:56:16] if there's any concern in,

[00:56:17] in that kind of department,

[00:56:18] there is,

[00:56:19] you know,

[00:56:20] the rising worry that,

[00:56:21] you know,

[00:56:22] we don't have the kind of big money power players that can keep up in the NIL game with the

[00:56:28] Texas is the Ohio States,

[00:56:30] the Michigans,

[00:56:30] but that's a different discussion for a different time and nothing we can do about it.

[00:56:36] You know,

[00:56:36] uh,

[00:56:38] despite all the pleas from the NIL groups and Greg burn about us needing to step

[00:56:42] up,

[00:56:43] but it ain't going to be us,

[00:56:45] buddy.

[00:56:46] Uh,

[00:56:47] get them billionaires on it or,

[00:56:49] you know,

[00:56:49] change college football and regulate this stuff.

[00:56:52] Right.

[00:56:53] Because yeah,

[00:56:53] I mean,

[00:56:54] I,

[00:56:54] yeah,

[00:56:54] that's the thing.

[00:56:55] Like,

[00:56:55] I mean,

[00:56:55] it's obviously some money in Alabama.

[00:56:57] It always has been money around the program,

[00:56:59] but there's a couple of programs that we can't compete with at the same time.

[00:57:06] Those let's not act like they haven't had money elsewhere and they haven't lived up to the hype.

[00:57:11] Like Texas has always had money and they haven't lived up to the hype.

[00:57:16] They've done well,

[00:57:18] but I think what we're seeing right now is Sark is a hell of a coach.

[00:57:23] Yeah.

[00:57:25] I know.

[00:57:25] I said that on,

[00:57:26] I think I respond to it in the taken on sports account on maybe blue sky somewhere.

[00:57:31] And it was one of the,

[00:57:32] I've seen this take a lot lately.

[00:57:34] It's really dumb,

[00:57:35] but with Georgia losing the way Alabama lost,

[00:57:37] I've seen a lot of these.

[00:57:38] Well,

[00:57:38] I think we see now that the sec's dominance is over once everybody else,

[00:57:42] you know,

[00:57:43] once paying players is legal.

[00:57:44] And for one,

[00:57:46] that's just a dumb take.

[00:57:47] That's so dumb.

[00:57:48] Everybody.

[00:57:50] It's so is exactly.

[00:57:52] So is that the perception then that the sec was the only conference playing players?

[00:57:56] Cause we know that's everybody had to bag man,

[00:57:58] everybody.

[00:58:00] Uh,

[00:58:01] and two,

[00:58:03] even if it were a money thing,

[00:58:06] that still doesn't account for what you just talked about.

[00:58:08] And schools like Texas being disappointed for so long.

[00:58:10] Cause if it was really about playing players,

[00:58:12] then Texas.

[00:58:13] Yeah.

[00:58:14] Then Texas and A&M and Ohio state and Michigan would be the only four teams that went national.

[00:58:18] Every year.

[00:58:20] Uh,

[00:58:20] you know,

[00:58:21] since 2005 for Texas,

[00:58:23] it's been,

[00:58:25] uh,

[00:58:26] A&M has never really won a title.

[00:58:28] They have a fake title on their thing,

[00:58:30] but they,

[00:58:31] they never won a title.

[00:58:33] I mean,

[00:58:33] honestly,

[00:58:34] the only time that that I,

[00:58:36] these were super relevant was in the early nineties.

[00:58:38] With the RC Slocum and a Rackham defense.

[00:58:41] Yeah.

[00:58:42] They have that.

[00:58:43] I mean,

[00:58:43] they were briefly.

[00:58:44] The Johnny football,

[00:58:45] but yeah,

[00:58:45] they never really have competed on a national level consistently.

[00:58:49] Yeah.

[00:58:50] It's not just the money folks.

[00:58:51] Like,

[00:58:51] yeah.

[00:58:52] every,

[00:58:53] like I said,

[00:58:53] every school,

[00:58:54] everybody's got a bag,

[00:58:55] man.

[00:58:55] Every school was doing shady stuff,

[00:58:57] man.

[00:58:58] It's not,

[00:58:58] but it's not,

[00:58:59] it's not just that it's about infrastructure and coaching.

[00:59:02] And I think.

[00:59:03] Yeah.

[00:59:03] As we,

[00:59:04] again,

[00:59:04] I've talked about throughout this year,

[00:59:06] I think one of the things,

[00:59:08] obviously the portal helps,

[00:59:09] you know,

[00:59:09] anybody can go pick.

[00:59:11] It's not just that players can move.

[00:59:13] It's that you can pick the one piece you need is already developed player.

[00:59:17] You know,

[00:59:18] high stake and go get,

[00:59:20] you know,

[00:59:21] will Howard and have a smart,

[00:59:22] consistent,

[00:59:23] you know,

[00:59:23] experienced quarterback.

[00:59:25] lead their offense.

[00:59:28] I think that that's a big game changer.

[00:59:29] And I think there's just more good coaching out there now.

[00:59:34] not to say that,

[00:59:34] you know,

[00:59:35] Nick Saban dominated because they're,

[00:59:36] he didn't have any peers.

[00:59:37] I mean,

[00:59:38] he didn't have any peers because he's the greatest coach of all time,

[00:59:42] but you know what he did,

[00:59:43] there's just more good coaching.

[00:59:45] It's more spread out now.

[00:59:46] And I think that's part of the parody.

[00:59:48] Everywhere this year,

[00:59:48] we saw the only undefeated team.

[00:59:50] Oregon got,

[00:59:51] you know,

[00:59:51] housed in the playoff game by a team they beat earlier in the year.

[00:59:55] So there's more good coaches out there.

[00:59:57] The rosters are spread out more.

[00:59:59] So,

[01:00:00] you know,

[01:00:00] everybody's got game breakers now.

[01:00:02] Exactly.

[01:00:02] Uh,

[01:00:03] and then,

[01:00:03] you know,

[01:00:04] with these other kinds of things,

[01:00:05] you know,

[01:00:05] the big,

[01:00:06] the big conferences are going to create weird unbalanced schedules.

[01:00:10] You know,

[01:00:10] it's all,

[01:00:11] it's a bunch of different weird little ticks.

[01:00:14] It isn't,

[01:00:14] doesn't boil down.

[01:00:15] So again,

[01:00:16] if you're one of these people's,

[01:00:17] you know,

[01:00:17] Oh,

[01:00:18] the sec is dominance over.

[01:00:19] If you're doing that take,

[01:00:20] you're an idiot.

[01:00:21] Shut up.

[01:00:22] Uh,

[01:00:23] that's it.

[01:00:24] I think that's all I got to say about the college game for now.

[01:00:26] Unless let's see what else you have.

[01:00:29] Oh,

[01:00:29] did you happen to catch,

[01:00:30] do you catch any of the FCS championship?

[01:00:32] Oh,

[01:00:33] Monday night.

[01:00:33] I did.

[01:00:34] Um,

[01:00:36] North Dakota state wins their 10th FCS title.

[01:00:39] Uh,

[01:00:39] obviously definitely the most there,

[01:00:41] uh,

[01:00:42] Montana state's unbeaten season ended.

[01:00:44] They,

[01:00:45] it was a great game.

[01:00:46] Uh,

[01:00:48] they were down bad early,

[01:00:49] but they fought hard.

[01:00:50] They did.

[01:00:51] yeah.

[01:00:52] North Dakota state,

[01:00:53] you really put it on.

[01:00:53] And then Montana state had it down late and just couldn't get that last

[01:00:58] stop.

[01:00:58] That last score to tie it up or take the lead.

[01:01:02] So they were looking for their first title,

[01:01:03] I believe since 84,

[01:01:05] uh,

[01:01:06] and the unbeaten season.

[01:01:07] But you know,

[01:01:08] once again,

[01:01:08] it goes to one of the Dakotas,

[01:01:10] North Dakota state,

[01:01:11] just to,

[01:01:11] uh,

[01:01:13] the powerhouse.

[01:01:15] Yeah.

[01:01:15] FCS.

[01:01:16] It's either them or South Dakota state.

[01:01:18] I mean,

[01:01:18] they've just been absolutely dominant,

[01:01:21] but,

[01:01:21] but they won like 10 of the last 14 national titles in the,

[01:01:24] something like that.

[01:01:25] Yeah.

[01:01:26] Amazing.

[01:01:27] the Missouri Valley conference,

[01:01:28] uh,

[01:01:29] dominating FCS.

[01:01:31] Yeah.

[01:01:31] But yeah,

[01:01:32] that's amazing.

[01:01:33] Yeah,

[01:01:34] it is really is.

[01:01:35] Uh,

[01:01:35] let's move to the pros.

[01:01:37] Now,

[01:01:37] uh,

[01:01:37] we know our NFL playoff field is set.

[01:01:39] Uh,

[01:01:40] chiefs and lions are your number one seed.

[01:01:42] Uh,

[01:01:43] then the games this weekend in order starting Saturday,

[01:01:46] you got the number four C Texans or five C chargers.

[01:01:49] They're in the AFC,

[01:01:50] uh,

[01:01:51] Saturday night,

[01:01:52] you got the three seed Ravens hosting the six seed Steelers.

[01:01:56] I hate it.

[01:01:57] I absolutely hate it.

[01:01:59] I hate it.

[01:01:59] I hate it.

[01:02:00] I don't want to see this.

[01:02:01] Even though the Steelers really are falling off lately.

[01:02:04] And the Ravens,

[01:02:06] you know,

[01:02:06] did double them up a couple of weeks ago in Baltimore.

[01:02:09] I still,

[01:02:09] I don't want to see this game.

[01:02:11] Uh,

[01:02:11] uh,

[01:02:12] Sunday,

[01:02:12] we've got two seed bills or seven seed Broncos,

[01:02:15] uh,

[01:02:16] two seed and NFC Eagles hosting the seven seed Packers.

[01:02:19] Also a team that's kind of struggling down the stretch here,

[01:02:21] the Packers,

[01:02:22] um,

[01:02:23] and the three seed bucks,

[01:02:25] uh,

[01:02:25] versus six seed commanders.

[01:02:27] And then Monday night,

[01:02:29] uh,

[01:02:29] four seed Rams versus five seed Vikings.

[01:02:32] Uh,

[01:02:32] some good matchups.

[01:02:34] Uh,

[01:02:36] everyone's kind of got a story.

[01:02:37] You know,

[01:02:37] you start with that Texans chargers game,

[01:02:39] got Jim Harbaugh back.

[01:02:40] In the playoffs,

[01:02:42] uh,

[01:02:42] a chargers team that kind of,

[01:02:43] you know,

[01:02:43] believing in themselves against the Texans team.

[01:02:46] That's struggling,

[01:02:47] but we'll have home field,

[01:02:48] uh,

[01:02:48] and still has a really good defense,

[01:02:50] you know,

[01:02:52] um,

[01:02:53] you know,

[01:02:53] the kind of walking wounded on their offensive side of the ball,

[01:02:56] but should be a fun one.

[01:02:58] Obviously Raven Steelers,

[01:03:00] big rivalry,

[01:03:00] hard hitting game,

[01:03:01] Lamar chasing that first ring,

[01:03:03] King Henry chasing a ring.

[01:03:05] Um,

[01:03:06] uh,

[01:03:07] I think the story there really is more is that the Ravens defense since week

[01:03:10] 13 is ranking first in like every major statistical category.

[01:03:16] Um,

[01:03:17] since week 13,

[01:03:18] after that,

[01:03:19] just terrible start to the season.

[01:03:22] Uh,

[01:03:22] they were,

[01:03:23] they have really turned it around.

[01:03:24] They're playing some,

[01:03:25] you know,

[01:03:25] the best defensive football in the,

[01:03:27] in the league right now.

[01:03:28] And I think that's really huge,

[01:03:30] especially,

[01:03:30] like I said,

[01:03:30] for a Steelers offense,

[01:03:32] it's struggling to really move the ball and score right now.

[01:03:36] George Pickens has kind of disappeared.

[01:03:38] Uh,

[01:03:39] Russell's gotten kind of back to that inconsistent Denver Russell.

[01:03:44] you know,

[01:03:45] the running game is kind of stalling out.

[01:03:47] So it'd be interesting there.

[01:03:49] uh,

[01:03:49] you never know what to expect in those,

[01:03:51] those games.

[01:03:52] Right.

[01:03:52] I mean,

[01:03:53] on paper,

[01:03:54] I mean,

[01:03:55] yeah.

[01:03:57] Pretty,

[01:03:58] pretty.

[01:03:59] I mean,

[01:04:00] of course,

[01:04:01] the rivalry,

[01:04:01] you know,

[01:04:01] Steelers have won five of the last six or weird.

[01:04:06] It's even like nine of 11 or something.

[01:04:08] Yeah.

[01:04:09] And every time it looks like it shouldn't go that way at all.

[01:04:14] and it would just be a matter of if the Steelers can turn it into a rock fight

[01:04:19] where you're,

[01:04:20] you know,

[01:04:21] nine,

[01:04:22] six type of game,

[01:04:22] they didn't need to ugly it up to win.

[01:04:25] I mean,

[01:04:25] the Ravens can play like that,

[01:04:26] but the Ravens actually have a lot of firepower where they,

[01:04:30] you know,

[01:04:32] they can be physical,

[01:04:33] but they don't have to play that way.

[01:04:35] I mean,

[01:04:36] you know,

[01:04:36] they get some Zay flowers involved early,

[01:04:39] you know,

[01:04:40] Lamar has some decent runs,

[01:04:42] King Henry going.

[01:04:43] I mean,

[01:04:44] it could get ugly,

[01:04:45] but you know,

[01:04:46] it's a matter of other thing too,

[01:04:49] as a Ravens just can't have any weird turnovers.

[01:04:51] That's sometimes the Ravens do some,

[01:04:53] have some weird turnovers and you're like,

[01:04:54] y'all were rolling.

[01:04:56] Yeah,

[01:04:56] no,

[01:04:57] I think that's the key is,

[01:04:58] you know,

[01:04:58] they got to take care of the ball.

[01:05:00] No turnovers.

[01:05:00] Don't let the Steelers hang around.

[01:05:03] Uh,

[01:05:04] Zay flowers is,

[01:05:05] he'll be questionable.

[01:05:06] He'll come this game.

[01:05:06] I did pick up an injury in that,

[01:05:08] that Cleveland game.

[01:05:09] So he's questionable.

[01:05:10] Uh,

[01:05:10] hopefully again,

[01:05:11] making parents,

[01:05:11] but if not,

[01:05:12] uh,

[01:05:13] you know,

[01:05:13] Rashad Bateman has really come on the second half of the season.

[01:05:16] He's really proven why he was a first round pick as well.

[01:05:19] Uh,

[01:05:20] Mark Andrews is really hot.

[01:05:22] I think he leads the teams and touchdown receptions.

[01:05:24] Actually,

[01:05:26] you mentioned Derek Henry,

[01:05:27] he's still going,

[01:05:28] they can slop it up if they need to.

[01:05:30] Uh,

[01:05:31] and you know,

[01:05:32] Lamar is,

[01:05:33] he's focused,

[01:05:33] you know,

[01:05:34] it's,

[01:05:35] you know,

[01:05:35] we talked about the MVP last episode.

[01:05:37] Uh,

[01:05:38] you know,

[01:05:38] who knows which way of that go.

[01:05:39] But again,

[01:05:40] statistically he had a better season than he did last year when he won it.

[01:05:43] Uh,

[01:05:43] and he's the first ever player to pass for 4,000 yards and run for 800.

[01:05:47] So,

[01:05:48] uh,

[01:05:49] he is playing as good football as he's ever played in his career.

[01:05:52] The offense is really opening up his full skillset,

[01:05:55] not just his legs.

[01:05:57] And he's got,

[01:05:58] you know,

[01:05:58] something he's never had before.

[01:05:59] And that's Derek Henry,

[01:06:00] a game breaking running back.

[01:06:03] Um,

[01:06:04] who also this year also became the first ever player to have two 1900 yard

[01:06:09] seasons rushing.

[01:06:12] So yeah.

[01:06:13] Uh,

[01:06:14] that Saturday night game.

[01:06:15] Yeah,

[01:06:16] exactly.

[01:06:17] Yeah.

[01:06:17] Yeah.

[01:06:18] Uh,

[01:06:18] that's Saturday.

[01:06:20] That is a Saturday night game.

[01:06:21] So Sunday,

[01:06:21] we start with the bills Broncos.

[01:06:23] That's an interesting one.

[01:06:24] Uh,

[01:06:25] you know,

[01:06:25] of course the bills,

[01:06:26] Josh Allen,

[01:06:27] they're on the mission of their own.

[01:06:28] The Broncos,

[01:06:29] no one really expected them to play as well as they did this year with rookie

[01:06:32] quarterback,

[01:06:33] Bo Nix,

[01:06:33] but they're going to go into Buffalo.

[01:06:36] No fear.

[01:06:37] House money.

[01:06:38] Uh,

[01:06:39] that could,

[01:06:39] that could be a fun one.

[01:06:41] It could be fun,

[01:06:42] but I don't know.

[01:06:43] I think you could get up.

[01:06:44] It could get ugly too.

[01:06:46] Depending on if,

[01:06:49] but you know,

[01:06:49] the Denver,

[01:06:50] they're just going to have to play,

[01:06:52] you know,

[01:06:52] they've gotten where they are.

[01:06:53] Cause they're a defense.

[01:06:54] I mean,

[01:06:54] their defense,

[01:06:55] it's lights out.

[01:06:56] They have one of the best corners in the game.

[01:06:59] Um,

[01:07:00] yeah,

[01:07:00] well,

[01:07:00] hold on,

[01:07:01] hold on.

[01:07:01] Let's,

[01:07:01] let's name shout.

[01:07:02] I mean,

[01:07:02] Patrick Sertan second.

[01:07:03] Uh,

[01:07:05] just absolutely.

[01:07:06] I saw a stat the other day.

[01:07:07] I forget what it was,

[01:07:07] but it's something like he's given up like only 330 receiving yards on him all season.

[01:07:12] Uh,

[01:07:13] he is.

[01:07:14] Yeah.

[01:07:15] All right.

[01:07:15] Were you about to say he might be the best corner in the league?

[01:07:17] Yeah.

[01:07:18] Yeah.

[01:07:18] Best corner in the league.

[01:07:20] Maybe the defensive player of the year.

[01:07:23] I mean,

[01:07:24] he is absolutely every bit of recognition he gets.

[01:07:28] Yeah.

[01:07:29] Absolutely.

[01:07:30] Um,

[01:07:31] and it's just a matter of them being able to,

[01:07:33] uh,

[01:07:34] get the bills off the field.

[01:07:36] I mean,

[01:07:36] if they can put that offense in a good spot,

[01:07:39] you know,

[01:07:40] force a turnover,

[01:07:42] cause you know,

[01:07:43] uh,

[01:07:46] the best thing going for them is a,

[01:07:49] the weather's not,

[01:07:50] even if it were bad weather,

[01:07:52] that's not going to affect Denver plays in cold weather.

[01:07:54] So that won't be a factor.

[01:07:56] Yeah.

[01:07:56] It's not like my,

[01:07:57] it's not like,

[01:07:58] you know,

[01:07:58] Miami going somewhere.

[01:08:00] Um,

[01:08:01] and then,

[01:08:01] you know,

[01:08:02] the bills,

[01:08:04] they have a lot of questions on the offense.

[01:08:07] I mean,

[01:08:07] it's a bunch of,

[01:08:08] you know,

[01:08:09] Mari has not been healthy up there and everybody else just,

[01:08:12] uh,

[01:08:13] there's our guys.

[01:08:15] I mean,

[01:08:16] there's no other than Josh,

[01:08:18] there's no superstars.

[01:08:19] So,

[01:08:19] I mean,

[01:08:20] you're not really,

[01:08:21] I mean,

[01:08:22] if they can keep it close early,

[01:08:25] build some confidence,

[01:08:26] I mean,

[01:08:27] they,

[01:08:27] they could be in it,

[01:08:28] but if the bills get rolling,

[01:08:31] you know,

[01:08:31] when Josh Allen is on,

[01:08:32] I mean,

[01:08:33] it's,

[01:08:33] it's fun to watch.

[01:08:35] So be interesting to see,

[01:08:37] you know,

[01:08:37] they,

[01:08:38] on the,

[01:08:38] on the offensive side,

[01:08:40] you know,

[01:08:40] the rookie in the playoffs,

[01:08:43] that's always a interesting situation just because how will they play?

[01:08:47] Obviously there's no pressure on them.

[01:08:49] Um,

[01:08:50] but you know,

[01:08:50] hopefully,

[01:08:51] you know,

[01:08:51] he doesn't let the pressure build or,

[01:08:54] you know,

[01:08:54] have some bad picks to start the game or anything like that.

[01:08:57] Cause they're playing with house money.

[01:08:58] So hopefully they come in loose and ready to go.

[01:09:00] Cause really that's the only way they can hang is that.

[01:09:02] They just come in with no fear,

[01:09:03] no worries.

[01:09:05] Um,

[01:09:05] cause no one expects them to win in Buffalo.

[01:09:07] So,

[01:09:07] I mean,

[01:09:08] it's not like there's a bunch of,

[01:09:09] they shouldn't come in tight at all.

[01:09:10] Just ready to just do what they've done a lot this season.

[01:09:16] Yeah.

[01:09:16] Uh,

[01:09:18] yeah.

[01:09:18] Like you said,

[01:09:19] they can pull it out.

[01:09:20] It'd be great.

[01:09:20] If not,

[01:09:21] they still had a great season.

[01:09:22] Absolutely.

[01:09:23] I mean,

[01:09:23] I don't think anybody expected them to be anywhere near the playoffs.

[01:09:27] No,

[01:09:28] yeah.

[01:09:29] Um,

[01:09:31] if let's see,

[01:09:32] then you got Eagles and Packers.

[01:09:36] After that,

[01:09:36] we mentioned the Packers have also known another one.

[01:09:38] That's team.

[01:09:38] They're kind of backpedaling into the playoffs there,

[01:09:40] but,

[01:09:41] uh,

[01:09:41] Jalen hurts still,

[01:09:43] uh,

[01:09:43] unknown for this game.

[01:09:45] And if it is,

[01:09:46] can you pick it?

[01:09:47] Then he's going to have to rely on Saquon having a,

[01:09:49] a huge day.

[01:09:50] And,

[01:09:51] you know,

[01:09:51] which Saquon,

[01:09:52] uh,

[01:09:53] broke 2000 yards and then did not play the Eagles final game,

[01:09:56] and decided to rest,

[01:09:57] did not go after Eric Dickerson's record.

[01:10:00] I was kind of disappointed in that.

[01:10:02] I,

[01:10:02] I don't know.

[01:10:04] I have to think that wasn't his call,

[01:10:06] but,

[01:10:07] um,

[01:10:08] I don't know.

[01:10:09] Interesting.

[01:10:10] Yeah.

[01:10:10] I'd be interested to know the full story there.

[01:10:12] Yeah.

[01:10:12] Yeah.

[01:10:13] I mean,

[01:10:14] especially cause I mean,

[01:10:15] 2000,

[01:10:16] I mean,

[01:10:16] a record like that,

[01:10:17] obviously it's been standing for a while.

[01:10:19] I mean,

[01:10:19] it's not something that's kind of,

[01:10:20] Oh,

[01:10:21] there's always next year.

[01:10:22] Obviously that's not the case or this record wouldn't be standing as long as it has.

[01:10:28] I mean,

[01:10:29] I would have given it a half.

[01:10:31] If you don't have it at halftime,

[01:10:33] maybe,

[01:10:33] maybe,

[01:10:34] maybe,

[01:10:35] maybe it's not to be,

[01:10:37] um,

[01:10:37] but you know,

[01:10:38] there's still,

[01:10:40] but the good thing for them is even if Jalen doesn't play,

[01:10:43] they have a plethora of talent there.

[01:10:46] So,

[01:10:46] I mean,

[01:10:47] I can't pick it still has a lot,

[01:10:50] a lot of,

[01:10:50] a lot of people to go to.

[01:10:52] Um,

[01:10:53] but you would love to see Jalen play,

[01:10:56] um,

[01:10:56] on that,

[01:10:57] uh,

[01:10:58] you know,

[01:10:58] on that Packers side,

[01:10:59] that last game really hurt them.

[01:11:01] Um,

[01:11:01] you know,

[01:11:02] they lost to the bears,

[01:11:03] and,

[01:11:04] you know,

[01:11:04] in the rivalry game,

[01:11:05] I mean,

[01:11:05] that's big for the bears in the sea,

[01:11:07] in the bad season with the wind like that.

[01:11:09] But I mean,

[01:11:09] Jordan love got banged up.

[01:11:11] I mean,

[01:11:12] they lost Watson to a ACL tear wide receiver.

[01:11:15] So,

[01:11:15] I mean,

[01:11:16] not a good way to come into the playoff.

[01:11:18] If you're the Packers.

[01:11:20] Yeah.

[01:11:20] Going into a hostile environment in Philly against,

[01:11:23] you know,

[01:11:24] one of the better offenses in the country or in the,

[01:11:26] in the league.

[01:11:28] Uh,

[01:11:30] yeah,

[01:11:30] that's a tough spot for the Packers there.

[01:11:33] Uh,

[01:11:33] then you got,

[01:11:33] yeah,

[01:11:34] uh,

[01:11:34] Bucks and commanders,

[01:11:36] uh,

[01:11:36] the Buccaneers,

[01:11:37] you know,

[01:11:39] uh,

[01:11:40] Baker Mayfield continues to,

[01:11:42] to live his best life after,

[01:11:44] you know,

[01:11:45] getting shunned in Cleveland and,

[01:11:47] you know,

[01:11:47] left for dead on the,

[01:11:49] yeah,

[01:11:50] on the waiver,

[01:11:50] the waiver,

[01:11:51] Carolina played the,

[01:11:54] Rams.

[01:11:56] Yeah.

[01:11:57] so yeah,

[01:11:58] Buccaneers,

[01:11:59] good season.

[01:11:59] NFC South champs,

[01:12:01] of course,

[01:12:01] the commanders,

[01:12:02] uh,

[01:12:03] out of nowhere,

[01:12:04] Jaden Daniels was every bit as advertised and better.

[01:12:08] Yeah.

[01:12:08] He lived up to the hype and then some.

[01:12:10] Yeah.

[01:12:11] Of course,

[01:12:11] you know,

[01:12:12] they do get holes in their team,

[01:12:14] defensive troubles,

[01:12:14] but,

[01:12:15] uh,

[01:12:15] uh,

[01:12:16] I think that this could be a really fun game,

[01:12:18] a really good shootout,

[01:12:19] uh,

[01:12:20] a great quarterback duel between two guys.

[01:12:23] Uh,

[01:12:24] absolutely.

[01:12:25] Yeah.

[01:12:26] And then you have the,

[01:12:27] the guy that probably doesn't get near the love that he should just cause he's a quiet guy,

[01:12:33] but Mike Evans.

[01:12:34] I mean,

[01:12:35] yeah,

[01:12:35] 11 years of wherever it's crazy to think that Mike Evans has been in the league for 11 years to begin with,

[01:12:41] cause I still remember him kicking our ass in Tuscaloosa,

[01:12:44] but,

[01:12:46] but anyway,

[01:12:47] um,

[01:12:47] you know,

[01:12:48] 11,000,

[01:12:49] you know,

[01:12:49] 11 years over a thousand years,

[01:12:51] break Jerry's record.

[01:12:53] And you see the books,

[01:12:54] they gave him that opportunity.

[01:12:56] And at the end of the game,

[01:12:56] they could easily,

[01:12:58] you know,

[01:12:58] they were up eight.

[01:12:59] They could have easily said,

[01:13:00] uh,

[01:13:00] we're going to down the bar,

[01:13:02] get out of here.

[01:13:03] You know,

[01:13:03] they got them his,

[01:13:05] uh,

[01:13:06] yeah.

[01:13:07] Got him his a thousand,

[01:13:08] got him his bonus.

[01:13:09] His teammates are hyped for it.

[01:13:11] Yeah.

[01:13:11] Right.

[01:13:12] I mean,

[01:13:13] yeah.

[01:13:13] Like you said,

[01:13:13] he's in the record books now with Jerry Rice,

[01:13:15] uh,

[01:13:16] you know,

[01:13:16] for consecutive a thousand yard receiving season.

[01:13:19] That's,

[01:13:20] it'll be interesting when he retires and that time comes for the Mike Evans hall of fame talk.

[01:13:24] Uh,

[01:13:25] yeah,

[01:13:26] because I mean,

[01:13:28] but you got to look at it too.

[01:13:32] Jerry's career.

[01:13:33] He had a great quarterbacks.

[01:13:35] That's the whole time.

[01:13:37] Mike Evans has played with the patchwork of quarterbacks.

[01:13:41] I mean,

[01:13:41] he's had,

[01:13:42] he's had Jamis who was hit and miss.

[01:13:45] Of course,

[01:13:45] he had Tom Brady for a little bit,

[01:13:47] but I mean,

[01:13:48] he's had a lot of guys that are,

[01:13:51] you know,

[01:13:51] not exactly.

[01:13:53] And,

[01:13:53] you know,

[01:13:54] still able to put up 11 years over a thousand yards in Tampa Bay,

[01:13:57] a place that's not known to always for the best offense.

[01:14:02] You know,

[01:14:03] it's just impressive.

[01:14:04] I mean,

[01:14:05] he's a quieter dude,

[01:14:06] so he doesn't,

[01:14:07] you know,

[01:14:08] doesn't always,

[01:14:09] you know,

[01:14:09] no one really talks about him,

[01:14:11] you know,

[01:14:12] in the same sense that we talk about,

[01:14:13] um,

[01:14:15] you know,

[01:14:16] or Jefferson or chase or,

[01:14:18] you know,

[01:14:19] tomorrow,

[01:14:19] but he,

[01:14:21] he's that guy.

[01:14:22] I mean,

[01:14:23] that's just,

[01:14:23] uh,

[01:14:24] 11 years over a thousand yards is just amazing.

[01:14:28] I mean,

[01:14:28] yeah.

[01:14:29] And just his health and be able to,

[01:14:31] you know,

[01:14:31] and he's been,

[01:14:32] you know,

[01:14:33] at times he's been several injuries and he still comes out and plays every

[01:14:37] week.

[01:14:37] It seems like,

[01:14:38] you know,

[01:14:39] he has to be really hurting not to play.

[01:14:42] Yeah.

[01:14:42] No,

[01:14:43] uh,

[01:14:43] there's something to be said for that kind of consistency and showing up and

[01:14:48] doing your job as much as he has.

[01:14:50] And of course that Monday night game Rams Vikings,

[01:14:53] uh,

[01:14:54] you know,

[01:14:54] Vikings,

[01:14:55] uh,

[01:14:55] not a great game to end the season there in Detroit.

[01:14:58] Uh,

[01:14:58] you know,

[01:14:59] with that one seat online,

[01:15:00] but you can probably just chalk that up to one of those,

[01:15:03] everything just kind of went wrong.

[01:15:04] And,

[01:15:04] you know,

[01:15:04] Justin Jefferson was dropping touchdowns,

[01:15:06] you know,

[01:15:07] it was kind of weird game.

[01:15:09] They'll reset.

[01:15:10] They'll go to LA to face a Rams team.

[01:15:12] It was,

[01:15:12] it was good,

[01:15:13] but not scary.

[01:15:14] You know,

[01:15:15] uh,

[01:15:16] they've obviously got a lot of weapons on that.

[01:15:18] Offensive side of the ball,

[01:15:19] but they,

[01:15:19] you know,

[01:15:20] they're not really,

[01:15:20] you know,

[01:15:21] lighting up the scoreboard.

[01:15:23] Um,

[01:15:24] a solid defensive team.

[01:15:26] I think that that's,

[01:15:27] that's another interesting game.

[01:15:28] Yeah.

[01:15:29] Stafford,

[01:15:29] you know,

[01:15:29] the old gunslinger and Sam Darnold,

[01:15:31] you know,

[01:15:32] comeback player of the year and that offense.

[01:15:35] And,

[01:15:36] uh,

[01:15:37] it's a really fun slate of first round games here.

[01:15:41] Uh,

[01:15:41] it really is.

[01:15:42] Yeah.

[01:15:43] It'd be interesting to the other thing that's weird though.

[01:15:45] You know,

[01:15:45] those fires in California,

[01:15:48] you know,

[01:15:48] what's going to happen with those games.

[01:15:50] Yeah.

[01:15:50] I've seen somewhere.

[01:15:51] Maybe they get moved to Quindale.

[01:15:53] Yeah.

[01:15:54] I think that's the NFL.

[01:15:55] I think I saw their contingency plan is,

[01:15:58] yeah,

[01:15:58] the game would be moved to Arizona,

[01:16:00] which is weird.

[01:16:02] I guess.

[01:16:03] Yeah.

[01:16:03] I guess that's,

[01:16:04] uh,

[01:16:04] the closest.

[01:16:06] I mean,

[01:16:07] for the safety and everything,

[01:16:08] you want to put that first,

[01:16:09] but you know,

[01:16:11] not that the Rams really have a home foot advantage.

[01:16:13] Cause I mean,

[01:16:14] obviously,

[01:16:14] you know,

[01:16:15] teams travel.

[01:16:16] Well,

[01:16:17] fans travel well to LA and it's a,

[01:16:20] you know,

[01:16:20] more of a fun state than an intimidating one.

[01:16:23] Um,

[01:16:23] but you know,

[01:16:25] that really thought that sucks for their fans though.

[01:16:28] You know,

[01:16:28] they have to,

[01:16:29] you know,

[01:16:30] they're already dealing with the light and then on top of that,

[01:16:32] they want to go to the game.

[01:16:33] They got to travel to a whole nother state.

[01:16:34] Um,

[01:16:35] so yeah,

[01:16:37] that would suck,

[01:16:38] but interesting,

[01:16:39] but you know,

[01:16:41] hopefully,

[01:16:42] hopefully things get a little better over the next couple of days.

[01:16:44] It's crazy.

[01:16:46] It's out there right now.

[01:16:47] Um,

[01:16:48] yeah,

[01:16:48] hopefully,

[01:16:48] hopefully.

[01:16:49] And you know,

[01:16:50] of course thoughts with everyone out there fighting those fires bigger than football

[01:16:55] right now,

[01:16:55] but yeah,

[01:16:56] doing some damage out there.

[01:16:58] Um,

[01:17:00] so yeah,

[01:17:00] it should be a fun weekend.

[01:17:02] of course off the field,

[01:17:03] uh,

[01:17:03] comes with the end of the NFL regular season jobs openings.

[01:17:07] Uh,

[01:17:08] there are now six open head coaching positions.

[01:17:11] We are of course already knew about the saints,

[01:17:12] jets and bears.

[01:17:14] Uh,

[01:17:15] and now the Raiders have let go,

[01:17:18] uh,

[01:17:18] Antonio Pierce Patriots let go of,

[01:17:21] drawed Mayo after one season and the Jaguars let go of Doug Peterson.

[01:17:25] So those are six open jobs right now.

[01:17:27] And of course,

[01:17:28] Mike Grable's name is top of the list for everyone.

[01:17:32] You know,

[01:17:33] a lot of signs looking like he may be end up in new England with maybe Josh McDaniels as his

[01:17:39] OC.

[01:17:40] Of course,

[01:17:41] back to what he's good at.

[01:17:44] Yeah.

[01:17:45] The Patriots.

[01:17:45] Yes.

[01:17:46] The Patriots try to rekindle some of that,

[01:17:48] uh,

[01:17:49] old stuff.

[01:17:50] And,

[01:17:50] you know,

[01:17:50] it seems like they've got their quarterback future.

[01:17:52] They're very happy with Drake may as they should be.

[01:17:57] Um,

[01:17:59] yeah,

[01:17:59] definitely have that.

[01:18:01] Um,

[01:18:01] my thing though,

[01:18:04] you mentioned both of the first year guys.

[01:18:06] I mean,

[01:18:06] I kind of feel like they got screwed.

[01:18:08] I mean,

[01:18:10] they're both in no win situations.

[01:18:13] I mean,

[01:18:14] and they're kind of the fall guy for the bad season.

[01:18:17] It's like,

[01:18:17] dude,

[01:18:18] obviously the Raiders weren't going to win much this year.

[01:18:22] The Patriots weren't going to win much this year.

[01:18:24] I don't know if it's more of an internal thing,

[01:18:27] but I mean,

[01:18:28] man,

[01:18:28] you have to get these guys more than a year.

[01:18:31] I mean,

[01:18:31] it's your first year ever in coaching for real.

[01:18:34] I think we also need to point out just how terrible it was for the Patriots to win their last game.

[01:18:43] They,

[01:18:43] yeah,

[01:18:43] if they had lost,

[01:18:44] they would be,

[01:18:45] have the number one pick and they don't need the quarterback,

[01:18:47] but they could definitely use that to get a cache of draft picks from a quarterback needy team.

[01:18:53] Now they fall to fourth.

[01:18:54] And that's,

[01:18:55] that's not really going to help them that much because they're third,

[01:18:58] third,

[01:18:58] fourth,

[01:18:59] whatever they are.

[01:19:00] I mean,

[01:19:00] they could,

[01:19:01] I don't,

[01:19:02] yeah,

[01:19:02] I mean,

[01:19:02] it's pretty much as far as quarterbacks go.

[01:19:04] Yeah.

[01:19:04] It's,

[01:19:05] it's Sanders and Cam Ward will seem to be the top two guys.

[01:19:09] And then after that,

[01:19:10] it's a,

[01:19:11] it looks like a little bit of hesitation on guys.

[01:19:14] I mean,

[01:19:15] I've seen a couple of mocks that have Jalen Milrow and that going late in the first round.

[01:19:19] And if that's where we're at,

[01:19:21] good for Jalen,

[01:19:21] get paid,

[01:19:22] you know,

[01:19:22] wish him all the best in the future,

[01:19:24] but you know,

[01:19:26] if you look at that tape.

[01:19:27] Yeah.

[01:19:28] Yeah.

[01:19:28] So,

[01:19:29] but my thing though,

[01:19:31] fans.

[01:19:32] Yeah.

[01:19:32] Yeah.

[01:19:32] But sometimes you look at it and there's some talent there.

[01:19:37] Like,

[01:19:38] it's,

[01:19:38] it's,

[01:19:38] it's a weird class.

[01:19:39] Cause you see some guys and you're like,

[01:19:41] yeah,

[01:19:41] he could definitely be good.

[01:19:43] But then he does,

[01:19:44] they do stuff.

[01:19:45] And you're like,

[01:19:46] why did that,

[01:19:47] you know,

[01:19:47] like,

[01:19:48] um,

[01:19:49] you know,

[01:19:49] we've talked about Quinn Ewers at times,

[01:19:51] you know,

[01:19:51] he'll have the best part,

[01:19:53] some of the best passes and he does some dumb stuff.

[01:19:57] Um,

[01:19:58] so I mean,

[01:19:59] be interested to see with,

[01:20:00] you know,

[01:20:00] what thing,

[01:20:01] I'm assuming he's probably going to go pro.

[01:20:04] I wouldn't see him coming back for another year or college.

[01:20:06] Cause he could probably get that.

[01:20:08] And then I felt the money.

[01:20:11] he might be a end of the first round type of guy.

[01:20:14] If he wants to come out,

[01:20:15] I'm also interested to see where Jackson dark goes.

[01:20:19] Yeah.

[01:20:19] You know,

[01:20:20] you know,

[01:20:20] if there was a team that,

[01:20:22] uh,

[01:20:23] SEC team that really showed out in the bowl game,

[01:20:26] I know it was against Duke with a bunch of,

[01:20:28] a bunch of guys,

[01:20:29] uh,

[01:20:31] you know,

[01:20:33] a lot of backups,

[01:20:34] but I mean,

[01:20:35] Jackson dark put on a show.

[01:20:37] Yeah.

[01:20:39] And he was throwing it late too.

[01:20:41] He never,

[01:20:42] I was shocked.

[01:20:43] They never took him out the game.

[01:20:44] Honestly,

[01:20:45] I was like,

[01:20:46] please don't get hurt.

[01:20:48] Oh,

[01:20:48] that'd be terrible.

[01:20:49] Yeah.

[01:20:49] And then you got,

[01:20:50] uh,

[01:20:51] of course,

[01:20:51] Travis Hunter.

[01:20:51] I think he's,

[01:20:52] you know,

[01:20:52] interesting.

[01:20:53] You know,

[01:20:53] does it,

[01:20:54] what does the team want him to play primarily?

[01:20:56] Does the team draft him early?

[01:20:59] You know,

[01:21:01] I honestly haven't even looked at the draft order.

[01:21:05] Right.

[01:21:05] I know that,

[01:21:06] uh,

[01:21:07] I know Tennessee has the first pick.

[01:21:10] It is.

[01:21:11] So yeah,

[01:21:11] that's interesting there.

[01:21:12] Do they ride with Will Levis?

[01:21:14] Are they already out on him?

[01:21:16] And because they were quick to move on from,

[01:21:18] um,

[01:21:20] Malik Willis.

[01:21:21] Yeah.

[01:21:21] I mean,

[01:21:22] I feel like he didn't get any chance.

[01:21:24] and you know,

[01:21:25] really they've,

[01:21:26] I don't,

[01:21:28] you know,

[01:21:29] I don't,

[01:21:29] I don't think either of us were really high on Will.

[01:21:32] We were kind of what,

[01:21:33] I never understood the Will Levis height to begin with.

[01:21:36] I don't know where it came from,

[01:21:37] what people saw.

[01:21:39] Obviously,

[01:21:40] I'm not an NFL GM,

[01:21:41] so,

[01:21:41] but I never saw it.

[01:21:43] Um,

[01:21:44] so I was shocked he even got the hype that he did,

[01:21:47] especially that bad last year.

[01:21:49] Um,

[01:21:50] I don't think he's a guy in Tennessee,

[01:21:52] but my for guys getting more than a year to prove themselves.

[01:21:56] Yeah.

[01:21:56] Um,

[01:21:58] I know it's a win now type of situation,

[01:22:00] but,

[01:22:02] and the crazy thing is,

[01:22:04] is of course,

[01:22:05] you know,

[01:22:06] they did the start of the season.

[01:22:09] Anyway,

[01:22:09] there was a lot of offensive talent in Tennessee.

[01:22:14] I mean,

[01:22:15] they,

[01:22:16] uh,

[01:22:16] of course,

[01:22:17] traded Westland to the chiefs,

[01:22:18] but,

[01:22:19] uh,

[01:22:20] I mean,

[01:22:21] they,

[01:22:21] there was a lot of offensive talent there.

[01:22:23] I mean,

[01:22:23] they,

[01:22:23] they got the,

[01:22:24] uh,

[01:22:24] the running back from Dallas.

[01:22:25] I mean,

[01:22:26] they had,

[01:22:26] um,

[01:22:27] they had the Andre Hopkins.

[01:22:28] They had,

[01:22:29] um,

[01:22:31] um,

[01:22:32] they had another,

[01:22:33] uh,

[01:22:34] bigger number of receiver go there.

[01:22:35] I can't even think.

[01:22:37] So there was a lot of talent and you're like,

[01:22:39] man,

[01:22:39] these QB players that bad.

[01:22:41] They can't get anybody to the ball.

[01:22:42] Um,

[01:22:43] yeah.

[01:22:43] They had Julio there for a second.

[01:22:45] Uh,

[01:22:46] Julio,

[01:22:47] AJ Brown started there,

[01:22:48] of course.

[01:22:49] Yeah.

[01:22:49] right.

[01:22:50] No.

[01:22:51] And the number two picks just as interesting to Cleveland Browns.

[01:22:55] Uh,

[01:22:55] do they,

[01:22:55] what do they do?

[01:22:57] Yeah.

[01:22:57] Do they get a quarterback and try to get,

[01:22:59] you know,

[01:22:59] move on from Deshaun period?

[01:23:00] Do they,

[01:23:01] because they still owe him so much money,

[01:23:03] even though they reworked his contract a little,

[01:23:06] do they still,

[01:23:07] they still owe him.

[01:23:08] And,

[01:23:09] you know,

[01:23:09] do they still,

[01:23:11] yeah,

[01:23:11] it's just interesting what they do,

[01:23:13] but that's,

[01:23:13] the thing with him.

[01:23:14] Right.

[01:23:16] I mean,

[01:23:16] I did see that he had a setback with his recovery.

[01:23:22] So I don't know what that all means.

[01:23:23] I mean,

[01:23:24] there's still a lot of time left,

[01:23:25] but yeah,

[01:23:26] Achilles is a weird thing because,

[01:23:28] I mean,

[01:23:30] you know,

[01:23:30] you just don't know.

[01:23:32] Um,

[01:23:33] but,

[01:23:34] but yeah,

[01:23:35] like I said,

[01:23:36] that's time for April.

[01:23:37] Yeah.

[01:23:38] Uh,

[01:23:39] and I would,

[01:23:39] I don't know.

[01:23:41] I,

[01:23:42] you would have to think at some point,

[01:23:44] you just got to move on.

[01:23:46] it hasn't worked out from day one.

[01:23:49] And if I'm looking there,

[01:23:50] I'm,

[01:23:50] I'm probably taking the quarterback of the future.

[01:23:53] Cause obviously that's not it.

[01:23:55] No.

[01:23:55] Yeah.

[01:23:56] Uh,

[01:23:56] you either have to do that or you trade back and get,

[01:24:00] you know,

[01:24:00] a boatload of picks to build around and try to find your,

[01:24:05] be a trade or free agency or a future draft.

[01:24:08] But that's who I forgot.

[01:24:10] Calvin Ridley was in Tennessee.

[01:24:11] That's the other wide receiver.

[01:24:13] Yeah.

[01:24:13] Yeah.

[01:24:13] Yeah.

[01:24:14] Yeah.

[01:24:14] He had his moments this year when,

[01:24:15] but he just got consistent quarterback play.

[01:24:18] I mean,

[01:24:19] he got over,

[01:24:19] I mean,

[01:24:20] kudos to him getting over a thousand yards this year with that

[01:24:22] quarterback room.

[01:24:25] Yeah,

[01:24:25] exactly.

[01:24:26] But I mean,

[01:24:26] to start,

[01:24:27] but I mean,

[01:24:27] to start the season,

[01:24:28] they had,

[01:24:29] you know,

[01:24:29] Calvin Ridley,

[01:24:31] they had DeAndre Hopkins,

[01:24:33] they had Tony Pollard.

[01:24:35] I mean,

[01:24:36] the wide receiver from Arkansas,

[01:24:37] Traylon Burks,

[01:24:39] I mean,

[01:24:40] on paper,

[01:24:41] I mean,

[01:24:41] outside of that quarterback,

[01:24:43] I mean,

[01:24:43] quite a few weapons.

[01:24:44] I mean,

[01:24:45] yeah.

[01:24:47] I just think,

[01:24:48] you know,

[01:24:48] it's,

[01:24:48] that's another case.

[01:24:49] I still don't understand why they got rid of Vrabel and,

[01:24:53] uh,

[01:24:53] you know,

[01:24:54] that there's some of the trades they've made,

[01:24:56] you know,

[01:24:57] they let Derrick Henry go instead of trying to get something for him.

[01:25:00] You know,

[01:25:01] the Ravens are trying to trade for him last deadline.

[01:25:03] Yeah.

[01:25:04] So,

[01:25:04] yeah,

[01:25:05] exactly.

[01:25:05] Something for him.

[01:25:06] You know,

[01:25:06] the,

[01:25:06] the AJ Brown trade,

[01:25:08] you know,

[01:25:08] they didn't really get much for that.

[01:25:10] They gave away DeAndre Hopkins for peanuts.

[01:25:14] Yeah.

[01:25:14] Yeah.

[01:25:14] I mean,

[01:25:15] they,

[01:25:15] and that was their first premier wide receiver.

[01:25:19] Yeah.

[01:25:19] So it's,

[01:25:20] uh,

[01:25:21] yeah,

[01:25:21] it's a weird,

[01:25:22] I think a horribly run franchise.

[01:25:25] Yeah.

[01:25:26] They've got some weird,

[01:25:27] weird stuff over the years and yeah.

[01:25:32] So we'll,

[01:25:32] we'll see what they do,

[01:25:33] but yeah,

[01:25:36] let's,

[01:25:36] uh,

[01:25:36] let's move on real quick.

[01:25:38] Uh,

[01:25:38] start wrapping up here.

[01:25:40] Uh,

[01:25:40] let's move to hoops.

[01:25:42] We talked about a little bit at the beginning and we were watching the end of,

[01:25:44] uh,

[01:25:45] Alabama wrap up there.

[01:25:46] Yeah.

[01:25:46] Starting to know in SEC play both very dominating.

[01:25:49] Wins,

[01:25:50] uh,

[01:25:51] this past weekend dominated Oklahoma.

[01:25:54] I just,

[01:25:54] from the tip,

[01:25:56] uh,

[01:25:56] very good Oklahoma team that was 13 and 0 entering the game.

[01:25:59] And then currently,

[01:26:00] as I'm talking,

[01:26:01] they're kind of beating the hell out of Texas A&M right now.

[01:26:03] Right.

[01:26:04] Uh,

[01:26:06] so a great start to,

[01:26:09] uh,

[01:26:10] SEC play for Alabama.

[01:26:11] Absolutely.

[01:26:12] Offenses just look great.

[01:26:14] Defense is tough.

[01:26:17] couldn't.

[01:26:17] And that's the other thing is there's a,

[01:26:19] plethora of players that are putting up points.

[01:26:22] I mean,

[01:26:22] you know,

[01:26:22] last year it was,

[01:26:23] oh man,

[01:26:24] if,

[01:26:24] um,

[01:26:29] and if Mark,

[01:26:29] this year,

[01:26:30] yeah,

[01:26:31] Mark,

[01:26:31] what not really?

[01:26:31] Oh my gosh,

[01:26:32] what's going to happen this year?

[01:26:36] Every,

[01:26:36] it seems like every game,

[01:26:37] someone else steps up,

[01:26:39] you know,

[01:26:39] filing is just a beast.

[01:26:40] I mean,

[01:26:41] I think he's definitely a one and done.

[01:26:44] And then you look at it too.

[01:26:45] I mean,

[01:26:46] uh,

[01:26:49] just,

[01:26:50] uh,

[01:26:50] you know,

[01:26:50] Cliff is doing everything we wanted Cliff to do.

[01:26:53] Um,

[01:26:54] so I mean,

[01:26:55] the big man that we needed and Nelson has taken his game to a whole different level.

[01:26:59] He really,

[01:27:00] I think the Nelson this year is what we thought we were getting last year,

[01:27:03] but he had to learn in the sec,

[01:27:05] but he's definitely become the guy that we anticipated when he came to Tuscaloosa.

[01:27:11] Yeah.

[01:27:12] He's averaged about nine rebounds a game.

[01:27:14] I mean,

[01:27:14] he had,

[01:27:15] he has confidence in his offensive game.

[01:27:17] I mean,

[01:27:18] he's booming.

[01:27:19] I mean,

[01:27:19] he's just taking his thing to a different level.

[01:27:22] So,

[01:27:24] uh,

[01:27:24] and yeah,

[01:27:25] and,

[01:27:25] uh,

[01:27:25] sec play,

[01:27:26] it doesn't get any easier.

[01:27:28] Saturday night,

[01:27:28] they visit college station to play A&M,

[01:27:31] uh,

[01:27:31] who,

[01:27:31] like we said,

[01:27:32] right now,

[01:27:33] they're kind of getting,

[01:27:33] taking it to them by Oklahoma,

[01:27:35] but there's still time left in this game.

[01:27:37] And so they're either going to be hot off the,

[01:27:39] you know,

[01:27:40] the trails of a big comeback win on the road,

[01:27:42] or they're going to be looking to bounce,

[01:27:44] back themselves.

[01:27:45] Right.

[01:27:46] And what we've seen so far in the SEC is winning on the road is tough.

[01:27:50] We just saw Tennessee get absolutely housed last night.

[01:27:53] Number one,

[01:27:54] unbeaten Tennessee lost by 30 to Florida,

[01:27:57] uh,

[01:27:57] a very good Florida team,

[01:27:59] but still no one saw them getting just absolutely dismantled.

[01:28:03] Absolutely housed.

[01:28:04] I mean,

[01:28:06] I mean,

[01:28:07] it's been,

[01:28:07] it was,

[01:28:09] yeah,

[01:28:10] I mean,

[01:28:10] going on the road and the SEC has nothing,

[01:28:12] nothing to sneeze about.

[01:28:14] I mean,

[01:28:14] the SEC,

[01:28:16] I mean,

[01:28:16] for all the things that they're down on the football,

[01:28:18] I mean,

[01:28:18] we definitely take it to the different level on the basketball court.

[01:28:21] I mean,

[01:28:22] but we have like over three,

[01:28:24] fourths of the conferences ranked right now and looking good,

[01:28:28] playing good ball.

[01:28:29] Six of the top 10.

[01:28:30] Yeah.

[01:28:30] First time ever conferences had six of the top 10.

[01:28:33] I mean,

[01:28:35] Auburn is looking outstanding.

[01:28:38] Tennessee,

[01:28:39] despite yesterday,

[01:28:40] I mean,

[01:28:40] still a great team.

[01:28:41] I mean,

[01:28:42] of course,

[01:28:42] Alabama's right there.

[01:28:44] Kentucky after the coaching change,

[01:28:46] people weren't sure,

[01:28:47] but definitely way ahead of,

[01:28:49] you know,

[01:28:49] Pope in his first year.

[01:28:51] I think way ahead of where people thought they'd be.

[01:28:53] You know,

[01:28:54] they got a big win last week against Florida.

[01:28:56] Um,

[01:28:57] so,

[01:28:57] you know,

[01:28:57] there's a lot of talented team.

[01:29:00] Florida,

[01:29:01] another,

[01:29:01] you know,

[01:29:01] very talented team there.

[01:29:03] Um,

[01:29:03] only one loss on the season.

[01:29:05] And,

[01:29:06] you know,

[01:29:06] even the middle ground,

[01:29:07] I mean,

[01:29:07] Arkansas has been up and down a little bit this year,

[01:29:10] but I mean,

[01:29:11] there's still obviously learning with Calipari,

[01:29:13] but I mean,

[01:29:14] that's the team you can't,

[01:29:15] uh,

[01:29:16] you know,

[01:29:17] A and M,

[01:29:18] you know,

[01:29:18] 10th right now losing right now,

[01:29:20] but I mean,

[01:29:20] they're one of the best players in the,

[01:29:22] in the conference still.

[01:29:24] We'll wait to fourth.

[01:29:25] I mean,

[01:29:25] so we'll,

[01:29:26] we'll see him on Saturday.

[01:29:28] So,

[01:29:29] and we've had our struggles in college station at times.

[01:29:31] So I guess Aggie.

[01:29:33] So we will see.

[01:29:35] Uh,

[01:29:36] I got one.

[01:29:37] Yeah,

[01:29:37] that's,

[01:29:37] uh,

[01:29:38] no,

[01:29:39] yeah,

[01:29:39] that should be,

[01:29:40] uh,

[01:29:40] like I said,

[01:29:41] we,

[01:29:41] we talked about it last week or we've talked about before us,

[01:29:43] sec plays not going to be,

[01:29:46] it's going to be no joke.

[01:29:47] And so it should be real fun to watch.

[01:29:50] Uh,

[01:29:52] moving on.

[01:29:53] Uh,

[01:29:53] let's see the NBA,

[01:29:55] the professional hard court.

[01:29:56] Uh,

[01:29:56] the only thing I really have,

[01:29:57] you know,

[01:29:58] Zion Williamson returned last night.

[01:30:00] Um,

[01:30:02] and you know,

[01:30:03] the couple of wins in a row over the weekend for the Pelicans,

[01:30:06] just don't mess up your spot guys.

[01:30:08] Just keep tanking and,

[01:30:09] uh,

[01:30:10] yeah,

[01:30:11] keep tanking.

[01:30:11] And then,

[01:30:11] you know,

[01:30:13] trade deadlines a month away.

[01:30:14] Now,

[01:30:16] Jimmy Butler officially wants out of Miami.

[01:30:19] That relationship is gone.

[01:30:21] Now they suspended him for seven games,

[01:30:23] which is kind of petty,

[01:30:25] but still,

[01:30:26] you know,

[01:30:27] uh,

[01:30:28] yeah.

[01:30:28] Yeah.

[01:30:29] So it looks like he wants to go to a competitor and I mean,

[01:30:32] yeah,

[01:30:33] but you know,

[01:30:34] they,

[01:30:37] you have to think that pretty much into their relationship.

[01:30:40] Yeah.

[01:30:42] Yeah.

[01:30:42] That was absolutely,

[01:30:43] you can't have,

[01:30:44] you can't suspend the guy and then have,

[01:30:47] uh,

[01:30:48] I think he's going to come back and want to play,

[01:30:51] especially in today's world.

[01:30:52] You know,

[01:30:53] I don't know how Riley is the old school guy,

[01:30:55] but that,

[01:30:55] that was one of the most cool moves.

[01:30:57] It's not going to win you anything.

[01:30:59] No.

[01:31:00] Yeah.

[01:31:00] So that's something to watch for is we start to get into that part of the

[01:31:03] NBA season where trades will heat up now.

[01:31:05] And,

[01:31:05] you know,

[01:31:06] like I said,

[01:31:06] for my Pelicans,

[01:31:08] interesting to see what goes on there.

[01:31:09] If they can,

[01:31:10] do they find someone to take Brandon Negro?

[01:31:12] And there's talks now,

[01:31:13] you know,

[01:31:13] is Zion healthy?

[01:31:14] Do you,

[01:31:15] do you try to move him maybe,

[01:31:16] you know,

[01:31:17] or is this season just a wash and you hope that you get a high draft pick in the

[01:31:21] lottery and another big piece to add or a trade piece to use.

[01:31:26] So who knows?

[01:31:28] That's where we are.

[01:31:30] Yeah.

[01:31:31] Yeah.

[01:31:31] Yeah.

[01:31:32] Yeah.

[01:31:32] And I don't know what you do with Zion.

[01:31:34] Yeah.

[01:31:35] I don't know what you do with Zion because obviously he can't stay healthy for any reason.

[01:31:42] Yeah.

[01:31:42] That's,

[01:31:43] that's,

[01:31:43] but I think we can probably talk about that closer to the trade line.

[01:31:47] Right.

[01:31:48] Right.

[01:31:48] And the fact that Cleveland after that amazing,

[01:31:53] that there's still 32 and four.

[01:31:54] So Cleveland is definitely for real.

[01:31:56] And we're kind of wondering,

[01:31:57] are they,

[01:31:58] you know,

[01:31:58] it's fun that they start off with 17 and oh,

[01:32:00] whatever.

[01:32:01] They lost the balls.

[01:32:02] But I mean,

[01:32:03] they kept that,

[01:32:04] kept that alive.

[01:32:05] So,

[01:32:05] I mean,

[01:32:06] they're absolutely still just playing.

[01:32:08] Like you mentioned,

[01:32:09] 32 and four,

[01:32:10] five and a half games ahead of Boston for that one seed in the.

[01:32:14] And you have Oklahoma city 30 having a hell of a season.

[01:32:18] And then the biggest surprise,

[01:32:19] obviously right now,

[01:32:20] the rockets second in the West.

[01:32:22] Yeah.

[01:32:23] 24 and 12,

[01:32:24] six behind Oklahoma city,

[01:32:25] but still no one expected the rockets to be up there.

[01:32:29] I think,

[01:32:29] yeah,

[01:32:30] your surprises this year,

[01:32:31] those two teams.

[01:32:32] And then,

[01:32:34] uh,

[01:32:34] cause I mean,

[01:32:35] probably New Orleans on the other inspection.

[01:32:37] I don't think anybody expected them to be that bad this year.

[01:32:40] Yeah.

[01:32:41] Yeah.

[01:32:42] The injuries from the get go.

[01:32:44] It just,

[01:32:44] yeah.

[01:32:45] I hate to see it.

[01:32:46] And then of course,

[01:32:47] my Mavericks are going through that right now.

[01:32:49] Both Kyrie and Luca are out.

[01:32:52] Luca out for a month.

[01:32:53] Kyrie,

[01:32:53] um,

[01:32:55] tore some,

[01:32:56] but maybe not as bad.

[01:32:58] Didn't win last night against the Lakers.

[01:32:59] I'm like,

[01:33:00] how the fuck do we win that game?

[01:33:01] But,

[01:33:02] hey,

[01:33:03] take it though,

[01:33:03] right?

[01:33:04] Yeah.

[01:33:05] Cause we lost five in a row before that.

[01:33:07] So we needed to get off that losing streak.

[01:33:09] But,

[01:33:10] so that was good.

[01:33:10] But yeah,

[01:33:12] I mean,

[01:33:12] the NBA is,

[01:33:13] I mean,

[01:33:13] it's kind of where,

[01:33:14] I mean,

[01:33:15] it's a,

[01:33:15] you know,

[01:33:17] until after,

[01:33:18] you know,

[01:33:19] the all-star game was really,

[01:33:21] it starts heating up.

[01:33:22] And we'll see with some of these trades,

[01:33:24] you have to think something big is going to happen this year.

[01:33:27] There was a lot of,

[01:33:29] there's a lot of folks that seem unhappy or,

[01:33:31] you know,

[01:33:31] um,

[01:33:32] a lot of people that could possibly get moved because,

[01:33:36] yeah,

[01:33:37] because it's one of those things outside of,

[01:33:39] uh,

[01:33:40] you know,

[01:33:41] outside of Cleveland and Oklahoma city,

[01:33:43] it's a lot of teams that are okay.

[01:33:46] You know,

[01:33:47] they're,

[01:33:47] you know,

[01:33:48] obviously,

[01:33:49] you know,

[01:33:50] we've seen good from the bucks,

[01:33:51] but I mean,

[01:33:52] they're still 18 and 16.

[01:33:53] We've seen good from the Celtics,

[01:33:55] but there's still,

[01:33:57] you know,

[01:33:59] there's again,

[01:34:00] it's going to be.

[01:34:03] You're wondering which teams like the,

[01:34:05] you know,

[01:34:05] the Celtics,

[01:34:06] are they just,

[01:34:07] are they just holding enough back until the playoffs?

[01:34:10] Yeah.

[01:34:11] And do teams like Cleveland.

[01:34:13] Yeah.

[01:34:13] Yeah.

[01:34:14] Do teams like Cleveland keep it,

[01:34:16] you know,

[01:34:16] going strong.

[01:34:18] And then,

[01:34:18] uh,

[01:34:18] with the trade deadline in a month,

[01:34:20] you know,

[01:34:20] what,

[01:34:21] what are the pieces that are going to move to give us,

[01:34:23] you know,

[01:34:23] our real stories head into the stretch run of the NBA season?

[01:34:27] But yeah,

[01:34:28] is there anything else in the world of sports you wanted to touch on

[01:34:31] before we go this week?

[01:34:33] You know,

[01:34:34] not really.

[01:34:35] I mean,

[01:34:36] you know,

[01:34:36] it's just,

[01:34:36] uh,

[01:34:37] well,

[01:34:38] I think,

[01:34:38] you know,

[01:34:39] just where we're at a fun weekend.

[01:34:41] I mean,

[01:34:41] we should have two great college football playoff games should have

[01:34:45] two great,

[01:34:46] well,

[01:34:47] two days,

[01:34:48] a great,

[01:34:49] uh,

[01:34:49] you know,

[01:34:49] the wild card and division rounds,

[01:34:51] probably my favorite two weekends of the NFL season outside of the

[01:34:55] draft.

[01:34:56] Just for,

[01:34:56] you know,

[01:34:57] some of the stories that come out of that.

[01:34:59] Some of the most classy games there.

[01:35:01] So I,

[01:35:01] I really enjoy this time of the year.

[01:35:04] Um,

[01:35:05] you know,

[01:35:06] at times,

[01:35:06] not the biggest NFL fan.

[01:35:08] I mean,

[01:35:08] I watch,

[01:35:08] of course,

[01:35:09] but you know,

[01:35:10] it's the playoffs.

[01:35:11] So that's something that NFL wins that,

[01:35:15] I mean,

[01:35:16] the playoffs will take,

[01:35:18] take it to a different level.

[01:35:20] So,

[01:35:20] yeah.

[01:35:22] Uh,

[01:35:23] great.

[01:35:23] So,

[01:35:23] uh,

[01:35:24] all that said,

[01:35:25] what has been done up real good for you since we last talked?

[01:35:29] Um,

[01:35:29] done up for me really good.

[01:35:31] Uh,

[01:35:31] you know,

[01:35:31] just,

[01:35:32] uh,

[01:35:33] overall,

[01:35:33] I think,

[01:35:34] you know,

[01:35:34] a good start to the,

[01:35:35] to the new year.

[01:35:36] Uh,

[01:35:36] you know,

[01:35:37] we hadn't done a show since the new year.

[01:35:39] So,

[01:35:40] you know,

[01:35:40] just,

[01:35:41] uh,

[01:35:41] you know,

[01:35:41] good start to 2025.

[01:35:42] Um,

[01:35:44] so how about you?

[01:35:46] Uh,

[01:35:47] yeah,

[01:35:47] same thing.

[01:35:47] You know,

[01:35:48] we spent it in Austin,

[01:35:49] uh,

[01:35:50] with a couple of friends,

[01:35:51] my wife's,

[01:35:51] you know,

[01:35:52] new friends of mine.

[01:35:52] I'd met a couple.

[01:35:55] She knew you actually,

[01:35:56] you know,

[01:35:56] one of them too,

[01:35:57] from our days in Tuscaloosa,

[01:35:58] uh,

[01:35:59] and just ate a couple really,

[01:36:01] really great meals.

[01:36:01] You know,

[01:36:02] they took us to a few restaurants,

[01:36:03] shout out to kanji,

[01:36:05] a,

[01:36:05] uh,

[01:36:07] Caribbean restaurant that was just phenomenal.

[01:36:09] And then Ember kitchen,

[01:36:10] we actually ate their new year's Eve,

[01:36:12] ring in the new year at that restaurant,

[01:36:14] uh,

[01:36:14] which was one of the best meals I've had probably in my life,

[01:36:17] if I'm being honest.

[01:36:18] Uh,

[01:36:19] so all props to the staffs at those places.

[01:36:23] Yeah.

[01:36:23] Austin,

[01:36:25] it was definitely a lot different than I remembered it when I last went 15 years ago.

[01:36:32] Uh,

[01:36:32] yeah,

[01:36:32] definitely has blown up,

[01:36:34] uh,

[01:36:34] saw the self-driving cars,

[01:36:36] you know,

[01:36:37] immediately said no,

[01:36:38] no,

[01:36:38] thank you.

[01:36:40] I'm not there yet.

[01:36:41] I've watched the term.

[01:36:42] Yeah.

[01:36:42] I've seen Terminator.

[01:36:43] I don't trust it yet.

[01:36:45] Yeah.

[01:36:45] Uh,

[01:36:46] but yeah,

[01:36:46] no,

[01:36:47] it was just a good way to ring in New York,

[01:36:49] New year.

[01:36:49] Now we're trying to stay warm here in this cold snap here in Birmingham.

[01:36:53] Yeah.

[01:36:54] I'm sure it's pretty chilly out there.

[01:36:57] You guys going to get any of the snow?

[01:36:59] Luckily,

[01:37:00] we have not had it.

[01:37:01] We're supposed to get like eight inches and we missed it completely this past,

[01:37:05] last weekend.

[01:37:05] So I was more than happy.

[01:37:07] Um,

[01:37:08] you know,

[01:37:08] at this point,

[01:37:09] uh,

[01:37:10] yeah,

[01:37:10] it's super cold up here.

[01:37:11] I mean,

[01:37:12] it was like eight this morning,

[01:37:13] uh,

[01:37:14] with a windshield,

[01:37:15] you know,

[01:37:15] negative.

[01:37:16] But honestly,

[01:37:18] if we can have that and no snow,

[01:37:20] I'll,

[01:37:20] that's a win to me.

[01:37:22] Take it.

[01:37:22] Yeah.

[01:37:22] You take it.

[01:37:23] Uh,

[01:37:23] I remember,

[01:37:24] you know,

[01:37:25] us coming from places where it did snow down in Tuscalo.

[01:37:29] So everybody get all happy.

[01:37:30] We'd be like,

[01:37:30] man,

[01:37:31] man.

[01:37:33] I don't know.

[01:37:34] Yeah.

[01:37:35] yeah.

[01:37:35] If it canceled class,

[01:37:36] it's cool.

[01:37:37] If not,

[01:37:37] then not,

[01:37:38] I don't want to deal with it.

[01:37:39] We actually got a tiny little bit here.

[01:37:42] Uh,

[01:37:42] was it yesterday,

[01:37:43] Tuesday morning?

[01:37:44] Yeah.

[01:37:45] I saw something like Tuscaloosa was going to go maybe a couple inches over the weekend.

[01:37:51] Yeah.

[01:37:51] We're under,

[01:37:52] I think in Birmingham right now,

[01:37:53] we're under a winter storm watch.

[01:37:55] Uh,

[01:37:57] nothing's though,

[01:37:58] no conditions.

[01:37:58] It's going to be clear so far.

[01:38:00] So we're,

[01:38:02] uh,

[01:38:02] it says to expect them by midnight Friday morning.

[01:38:05] So we'll watch out tomorrow and see what happens.

[01:38:08] But the big thing is the grocery stores will get empty.

[01:38:12] Yeah.

[01:38:12] All the,

[01:38:13] the milk toilet paper and bread will be gone again.

[01:38:16] Not sure why.

[01:38:18] Those are the things that always go.

[01:38:21] Yeah.

[01:38:21] I don't know what you're going to do with that on a,

[01:38:25] on a,

[01:38:25] but yeah,

[01:38:26] you know,

[01:38:26] going to drip the pipes and keep the heat on and make sure everything's,

[01:38:31] uh,

[01:38:32] absolutely good to go.

[01:38:33] But,

[01:38:34] uh,

[01:38:34] with that folks,

[01:38:35] thank you for listening as always.

[01:38:38] Uh,

[01:38:38] sorry,

[01:38:38] we were late this week,

[01:38:39] but thanks for sticking around nonetheless.

[01:38:41] Uh,

[01:38:42] should be back.

[01:38:43] Yeah.

[01:38:44] Should be back to the normal schedule this weekend.

[01:38:47] Uh,

[01:38:48] as always check out the Alabama take.com and all the Alabama take family of

[01:38:54] podcasts.

[01:38:55] Um,

[01:38:57] again,

[01:38:58] you know,

[01:38:58] subscribe,

[01:38:59] give us good ratings and likes and tell your friends to listen to us,

[01:39:03] tell your rich friends about us.

[01:39:04] If you want us to,

[01:39:05] uh,

[01:39:06] Hey,

[01:39:06] you know what?

[01:39:07] Life gets in the way and other jobs getting away.

[01:39:09] So if you want us to have a consistent schedule,

[01:39:11] have someone pay us to do this.

[01:39:13] And then we'll get you,

[01:39:15] I'll get,

[01:39:16] we'll do two episodes a week.

[01:39:17] How about that?

[01:39:18] Uh,

[01:39:19] like clockwork.

[01:39:20] Yeah.

[01:39:20] Like clockwork.

[01:39:22] We will do fancy video stuff,

[01:39:23] whatever.

[01:39:24] You just got to pay us.

[01:39:26] You get to a daily schedule for y'all.

[01:39:28] Oh,

[01:39:29] no.

[01:39:30] Uh,

[01:39:31] but yeah,

[01:39:32] you know,

[01:39:32] and maybe get back the Alabama slam.

[01:39:34] Cause you know,

[01:39:35] we're,

[01:39:35] we're missing that man.

[01:39:36] Did you,

[01:39:36] uh,

[01:39:37] check out the Netflix debut overall?

[01:39:39] I,

[01:39:40] I did see it.

[01:39:41] I watched it.

[01:39:42] I was busy Monday night,

[01:39:43] but I watched it on the replay.

[01:39:45] I mean,

[01:39:45] it was cool.

[01:39:46] I mean,

[01:39:47] it felt like they were trying to make it seem like it was WrestleMania,

[01:39:49] but no,

[01:39:50] they pulled out all the stops.

[01:39:51] Yeah.

[01:39:51] It was a big card,

[01:39:52] you know,

[01:39:53] got the rock and Hulk Hogan showing up in the LA crowd and giving it to

[01:39:57] I was,

[01:39:58] I was hilarious.

[01:39:59] Yeah.

[01:40:02] The thing is though,

[01:40:03] is some people,

[01:40:04] Oh,

[01:40:04] it's cause he voted for Trump.

[01:40:06] It has nothing to do with that.

[01:40:08] Right.

[01:40:08] Yeah.

[01:40:09] That may be part of it for some people,

[01:40:10] but it is a long history of being done with Hulk Hogan and his bullshit as

[01:40:17] people are just tired.

[01:40:18] The thing is,

[01:40:18] it's like,

[01:40:19] yeah,

[01:40:20] the bad,

[01:40:21] you know,

[01:40:22] when I was,

[01:40:22] it's just crazy to think about when we were kids,

[01:40:24] I mean,

[01:40:25] everywhere was a Hulkamaniac.

[01:40:26] It did,

[01:40:27] you know,

[01:40:27] it just,

[01:40:28] you realize,

[01:40:29] damn,

[01:40:30] he was an asshole the whole time.

[01:40:32] Yeah.

[01:40:33] Yeah.

[01:40:33] I would like to say for the record,

[01:40:35] I was a macho man guy forever and always.

[01:40:39] Now,

[01:40:39] granted as a little kid,

[01:40:40] still rooted for Hulk Hogan because you know,

[01:40:42] you're a kid and he's Hulk,

[01:40:43] but I was always a macho man guy.

[01:40:47] Always wanted him to be the monster.

[01:40:49] They say somewhere that macho man was smiling.

[01:40:55] Probably was.

[01:40:56] But again,

[01:40:57] thanks for listening to folks.

[01:40:59] Keep it done up real good yourselves out there.

[01:41:01] Stay warm.

[01:41:02] If you're in one of these cold climates,

[01:41:04] if you got to drive in snow this week,

[01:41:06] either don't or remember to break early and go about 15 miles an hour slower than you normally do.

[01:41:13] Thanks.

[01:41:14] Stay safe out there.

[01:41:17] Thanks again,

[01:41:18] y'all.

[01:41:18] Greg,

[01:41:19] buddy,

[01:41:19] I will see you next time.

[01:41:20] Yes,

[01:41:21] sir.

[01:41:21] Yes,

[01:41:21] sir.
