A relatively short affair for us this week, as we focus mostly on the first round of the CFP. We also take time to tell a lot of whiny college football fans to shut up and enjoy the sport they claim to love, and remind them that the BCS was not actually all that great. We also cover an important weekend in the NFL, and opine on our favorite Christmas movies.

[00:00:00] I will take projection.

[00:00:34] I don't know, sometimes when you get older, you don't feel it as much.

[00:00:39] But I watched some Christmas movies today.

[00:00:44] So it was a good time.

[00:00:47] There you go.

[00:00:48] All right.

[00:00:50] We'll start there.

[00:00:52] Non-sports.

[00:00:53] Give me the Christmas movies you got to watch every year.

[00:00:57] Every year.

[00:00:59] Which ones are you?

[00:01:00] I have to watch Home Alone 1 and 2, Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation, and Elf.

[00:01:08] Elf, that's a good list.

[00:01:11] How about you?

[00:01:12] It's pretty much the same with Christmas Vacation.

[00:01:14] That's my go-to.

[00:01:15] That's always the first one I watch, and I watch it multiple times.

[00:01:18] Oh, most definitely.

[00:01:19] Yeah.

[00:01:20] Elf, definitely.

[00:01:21] Home Alone, definitely.

[00:01:23] And then I got some non-conventional ones, too, like Bad Santa.

[00:01:27] I love Bad Santa.

[00:01:28] Oh, Bad Santa's epic.

[00:01:29] Yeah.

[00:01:30] Yeah.

[00:01:30] That boy on there?

[00:01:31] So hilarious.

[00:01:32] Oh, so funny.

[00:01:33] All of it, man.

[00:01:35] And then, you know, stuff that's like kind of Christmas movie night.

[00:01:38] You know, Die Hard.

[00:01:39] I watch Die Hard.

[00:01:40] Yeah.

[00:01:40] Friday After Next.

[00:01:42] Yeah, Friday.

[00:01:43] Exactly.

[00:01:43] Friday After Next.

[00:01:44] Gremlins.

[00:01:45] The first Gremlins.

[00:01:46] Yeah.

[00:01:46] Yeah.

[00:01:46] Yeah.

[00:01:47] So, yeah.

[00:01:48] And then, you know, my wife, she likes a lot of the more stuff like The Holiday or The Family Stone,

[00:01:55] stuff like that.

[00:01:56] Right.

[00:01:57] And then, you know, I like some of the, you know, like the OG Grinch.

[00:02:00] We actually went earlier this week.

[00:02:02] We took the kid.

[00:02:03] Yeah.

[00:02:03] Like the OG Grinch.

[00:02:05] Yeah.

[00:02:06] Yeah.

[00:02:06] The Alabama Theater in Birmingham was doing the cartoon matinee.

[00:02:10] So, they showed The Grinch, Charlie Brown, Christmas, and Rudolph.

[00:02:16] Oh, yeah.

[00:02:17] So, it was cool.

[00:02:19] He, he's developing his own new family Christmas tradition where he falls asleep while we do

[00:02:24] try to do Christmas things.

[00:02:25] So, he fell asleep about halfway through The Grinch and then slept all the way through

[00:02:30] Rudolph.

[00:02:31] So, and he did that a couple weeks ago.

[00:02:34] We took him to this train.

[00:02:36] They, like, inside the train, they had to set up all these little Christmas, like, you

[00:02:41] know, little setups with figures and, you know, toy trains and all that.

[00:02:45] And he, we were in line for it.

[00:02:47] And it was a long line.

[00:02:48] So, we had to wait a little bit.

[00:02:49] And we get into the station right before you can board the train.

[00:02:53] And he falls asleep on my shoulder.

[00:02:57] Sleeps the whole thing through.

[00:02:58] So, we're just walking.

[00:02:59] We were with my wife's friend and her little girl.

[00:03:02] So, at least her little girl got to see it.

[00:03:04] Got to see it.

[00:03:05] And then, we get out and we start walking back to the car and he wakes up.

[00:03:10] Oh.

[00:03:11] That's fun.

[00:03:12] So, that's his family, his Christmas tradition.

[00:03:14] His tradition so far, just resting up.

[00:03:17] Yeah.

[00:03:17] Just resting up.

[00:03:18] Resting up for Santa, yeah.

[00:03:20] Yeah.

[00:03:21] But, yeah, Santa Claus brought some gifts to the college football world this week.

[00:03:26] The first ever 12-team playoff kicked off.

[00:03:29] And four teams got some good presents in their stockings and four teams got cold.

[00:03:34] Yeah.

[00:03:36] Yeah.

[00:03:37] I guess let's just go chronological.

[00:03:39] It started Friday night.

[00:03:40] Notre Dame, Indiana.

[00:03:42] Big epic in-state matchup.

[00:03:44] You know, Indiana out of nowhere.

[00:03:46] Story of the year.

[00:03:49] Just...

[00:03:50] Not being so epic.

[00:03:52] Ha!

[00:03:52] No.

[00:03:53] Fell flat against Notre Dame.

[00:03:54] Score 27-17.

[00:03:56] Game wasn't even that close.

[00:03:57] No.

[00:03:58] Ah.

[00:03:58] I mean, it was a 27-3.

[00:04:00] And, yeah, when...

[00:04:01] I mean, Notre Dame busted their head start to finish.

[00:04:07] You know, they had a 99-yard touchdown run.

[00:04:10] And, man, the thing...

[00:04:13] I mean, Indiana's a great story, you know, but the thing remains.

[00:04:18] When they had their two games against teams that they were like, well, they...

[00:04:24] Kind of under, you know, under man, they got housed.

[00:04:28] They got housed against Ohio State.

[00:04:30] They got housed against Notre Dame.

[00:04:32] So, obviously, they still have some work to move to that elite level.

[00:04:37] Now, of course, I mean, there's not too many people that are going to beat Notre Dame and Ohio State.

[00:04:43] But, obviously, for them to move up from that decent level to that next level, people really taking it serious as a team.

[00:04:50] I mean, the only thing I hate is not people that are...

[00:04:53] See, we told you Indiana's not good.

[00:04:55] Come on.

[00:04:56] I don't like that.

[00:04:57] Yeah, yeah.

[00:04:57] No.

[00:04:58] They had a hell of a season.

[00:05:00] They played great football.

[00:05:01] They just don't have that talent level yet.

[00:05:04] No.

[00:05:05] You know, and if...

[00:05:06] Hopefully, you know, for them, if they can hold on to Kurt Cignetti for a few years and maybe he can build something there.

[00:05:13] But he chose...

[00:05:14] But I saw him somewhere like he...

[00:05:17] You know, he got about the thing and he purposely went to Indiana because he had a plan in place to win there.

[00:05:23] So, I mean, obviously, the dude has a clear plan of what he wants to do.

[00:05:27] Hopefully, yeah, he can stay there.

[00:05:31] And, you know, see what he can do.

[00:05:35] At least stay in the hunt.

[00:05:38] And, you know, that's the big thing.

[00:05:40] If you could stay at, you know, third or fourth in the Big Ten, I mean, you're going to be clear...

[00:05:46] I mean, most years are going to be right there for a playoff spot.

[00:05:49] So, you know, it'd be interesting if he can keep it consistent.

[00:05:52] Because that'd be the most impressive thing.

[00:05:54] Because we've seen Indiana okay at times.

[00:05:56] I mean, nothing like this, of course.

[00:05:58] But, I mean, never any type of consistency ever had in Bloomington.

[00:06:03] Bloomington.

[00:06:04] So, I mean, if he could have two or three years where they win nine, ten games, that'd be amazing.

[00:06:10] Yeah, yeah, for sure.

[00:06:12] And if you're an Indiana fan, you probably have to face reality and say that...

[00:06:16] Unless just he loves something about Bloomington and Indiana and, you know, chooses to stay there for life.

[00:06:22] Yeah, you're not going to hold on to him for, you know, what do you get?

[00:06:25] Maybe three, four, five years max, right?

[00:06:28] I mean, he is a little guy too, though.

[00:06:30] I mean, he is in his 60s.

[00:06:31] So, maybe that does help you out.

[00:06:34] The other thing, too, I mean, obviously he likes to go places and build them up.

[00:06:38] Because, I mean, he did leave Nick Saban's staff to go to Division II.

[00:06:43] Right.

[00:06:43] But Nick was like, what are you doing, bro?

[00:06:45] Even Nick was like, why would you do this?

[00:06:47] He's like, I want to go be a head coach.

[00:06:49] So, he definitely does his own thing.

[00:06:52] You know, a guy that doesn't really go by what people would expect you to do.

[00:06:57] So, who knows?

[00:06:58] Maybe this is what he wants to do.

[00:07:00] You know?

[00:07:01] But I'm sure it's going to be tough because, you know, I don't know about this year because it's kind of late in the game.

[00:07:06] But there weren't as many big openings as in some years.

[00:07:10] You know?

[00:07:11] A lot of the big openings just weren't open this year.

[00:07:15] So, it'll be interesting to see, you know, if, you know, some teams are going to be on a hot seat.

[00:07:21] You know?

[00:07:21] If, you know, Billy Napier has a bad year.

[00:07:24] You know, Florida doesn't get better than what they were this year.

[00:07:28] You know, if that were to open up, you know, and it's going to be, you know, if they're interested in them, it's going to be hard for Indiana to map Florida.

[00:07:35] You know, something like that, bro.

[00:07:37] It would be interesting.

[00:07:38] No, sure.

[00:07:39] Yeah, and it'd be interesting to see how, what this Indiana team does next year.

[00:07:44] You know, do they...

[00:07:44] Because he brought a lot of those guys with him.

[00:07:47] He did, yeah.

[00:07:48] You know, now it's about recruiting, see what they do in the portal, and seeing if they can, you know, if it's just a flash in the pan with this year's roster or if he really is installing a culture there.

[00:07:59] Yeah.

[00:08:00] On the flip side, Notre Dame, we've talked about them, maybe the hottest team in college football right now.

[00:08:06] Yeah, and the schedule hasn't been, you know, overly tough, but they've been blowing everybody out for the past month or two.

[00:08:14] Yeah, and that's what they did last night.

[00:08:16] You mentioned the big run, and they did it defense running the ball.

[00:08:20] They just leaned on them.

[00:08:22] And now they get to go play a Georgia team without Carson Beck.

[00:08:26] So, a matchup you might initially be like, oh, Georgia's going to pull away, you know, kind of beat them up.

[00:08:32] This is not your dad's Notre Dame.

[00:08:34] Uh-uh.

[00:08:35] Yeah.

[00:08:35] This is a better team.

[00:08:38] This is not your normal Georgia team either.

[00:08:42] They're still a very talented team, but I mean, it's not two years ago, Georgia.

[00:08:46] It's not even last year's Georgia.

[00:08:48] I mean, they're good, but they're not unbeatable.

[00:08:51] So, and yeah, I mean, most people are still going to look at this and say, based off history, of course, Georgia's going to win the game.

[00:08:57] And they very well might win the game.

[00:09:01] But, like we talked about before, if there's a time for Notre Dame to ever be the team that gets a title or goes far in the playoff, this is their year.

[00:09:12] Absolutely, yeah.

[00:09:12] This is their time.

[00:09:13] Yeah, Riley Leonard seems to have that kind of it factor for them.

[00:09:16] And we mentioned that Georgia's starting quarterback, Carson Beck is not going to play.

[00:09:21] And their backup played well, you know, against Texas when he came in.

[00:09:26] But can he do it a whole game against a great, you know, very good Irish defense in the playoff, down there in the Sugar Bowl, you know, bright lights.

[00:09:38] And this has been an inconsistent Georgia team this year, to say the least.

[00:09:42] So, I think that'll be a fun matchup.

[00:09:44] I think we're in for it.

[00:09:45] Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:09:47] Yeah, you know, and one thing we'll probably touch on as we go through all these, you know, these first round blowouts, they might lead to some really exciting second round games.

[00:09:56] So, but yeah, let's move to Saturday, of course, a game that kicked it off in the AM SMU went up to Happy Valley.

[00:10:05] I think most of us in the column maybe thought that this would be the first round upset.

[00:10:10] But no, man, Penn State shut that down.

[00:10:14] Yeah, and you know, the main thing is, man, the quarterback, he just had a horrible day.

[00:10:22] Yeah, Kevin Jennings, yeah.

[00:10:24] Kevin, KJ just had a terrible day.

[00:10:27] And, you know, this stuff.

[00:10:29] You know, and I think really that first drive, if he had just run the ball there instead of trying to hit that pass on that fourth and inches, he had that whole open field.

[00:10:40] SMU scores a touchdown right there, even a field goal, gets some points on that first drive.

[00:10:45] I think we have a completely different ball game.

[00:10:47] That's just me.

[00:10:48] But I think their confidence has been sky high.

[00:10:52] You know, after that, he has the pick six.

[00:10:55] Another pick six.

[00:10:57] Then, you know, they got another good drive there.

[00:11:00] And then he throws a pick again when they're driving in the red zone.

[00:11:03] So, I mean, KJ did them no favors.

[00:11:06] And I thought overall SMU's defense played pretty well most of the game.

[00:11:11] No, they did.

[00:11:12] Yeah, they were down 21-0 kind of quick.

[00:11:15] But like you said, that was two pick sixes in there.

[00:11:18] So, you know, hey, he's a redshirt freshman.

[00:11:22] He'll get better.

[00:11:23] Yeah, that's the thing about SMU.

[00:11:25] That's a younger roster.

[00:11:27] They got their – it's a learning experience.

[00:11:31] It's a shitty one.

[00:11:32] You know, it sucks to do that.

[00:11:34] But, you know, hey, that's what you got to take from it is, you know, he'll watch film.

[00:11:38] He'll learn from this.

[00:11:39] Yeah.

[00:11:40] But again, I mean, it's one of those things.

[00:11:42] I mean, it was kind of an impossible situation.

[00:11:45] Not only – I mean, it's freezing cold.

[00:11:48] I mean, honestly, I mean, coming to that game, SMU average temperature of game time was 72 degrees on the season.

[00:11:56] So, I mean, completely different atmosphere for them.

[00:11:59] I mean, just the biggest stadium by far that they've been in all year.

[00:12:04] I mean, they all – I mean, their home game, I think SMU's stadium holds like 40,000.

[00:12:08] And the biggest stadium they've been in all year was Virginia, like 60-something.

[00:12:12] So, I mean, no comparison to going to Happy Valley.

[00:12:15] So, they really hadn't experienced anything quite like that at all.

[00:12:18] And then Penn State, man, they – that defense was – I mean, they obviously – you know, obviously, they disguised well that KJ thought he had some passes.

[00:12:29] Obviously, they weren't there.

[00:12:30] So, I mean, you know, they came ready to go.

[00:12:33] You know, that running game got hot.

[00:12:35] But, you know, after their SMU defense got tired and then, you know, they just did whatever I expected to happen.

[00:12:42] Penn State's just right now, just a better team at home.

[00:12:45] And, you know, Franklin wasn't going to lose this type of game.

[00:12:49] That would have been horrible for them.

[00:12:50] So, he got the win that he definitely needed there.

[00:12:55] Yeah.

[00:12:56] And then now he goes – they will travel to – is it the Fiesta Bowl, I think?

[00:13:02] Fiesta Bowl to play Boise.

[00:13:03] Yeah, Fiesta Bowl to play Boise State.

[00:13:06] That's going to be a fun one, man.

[00:13:09] That might be the one that I have the least idea of who's going to win, man.

[00:13:15] Yeah, I don't know.

[00:13:17] Because I guess the biggest thing is, of course, it's going to be if – what – if they can shut down, of course, the Doke Walker winner.

[00:13:28] Yeah, Jenty.

[00:13:29] If they can shut him down, you know, it's a different thing.

[00:13:32] But if they can't – and no one's been able to shut him down, of course.

[00:13:35] Really the only, I guess, defense in the same area code as Penn State would have been Oregon, and he had a good game there.

[00:13:43] Yeah.

[00:13:44] But, you know, it's hard to compare.

[00:13:45] I mean, that's September.

[00:13:46] It's, you know, January now when they'll play.

[00:13:48] So, it's hard to compare the two.

[00:13:53] I mean, that's just, Coach, you get to a comparison.

[00:13:55] But I think it's going to be an interesting game.

[00:13:59] Now, how fun – you know, we had talked about it before, of course.

[00:14:03] It really – you know, you had said, hey, let's not have any home game – excuse me, any bowl games until the – any neutral games until the National Title game.

[00:14:11] How fun would this game be on the blue turf?

[00:14:13] I know.

[00:14:14] I know.

[00:14:15] We're getting robbed to see the playoff game on the blue turf.

[00:14:17] It's kind of bullshit.

[00:14:18] Yeah, but you know how raucous that atmosphere would be for that fan base?

[00:14:22] I mean, they're a great fan base.

[00:14:24] They have that opportunity to – and at that point, I would be all in on the upset.

[00:14:30] But on the neutral field, neutral field, who knows?

[00:14:36] I hope we win for a good one.

[00:14:38] Yeah, I think the key for Boise State is they got to – they got to control the clock.

[00:14:44] They got to control the clock, and they need the passing.

[00:14:46] They need to hit some over-the-top plays to keep those Penn State safeties back there.

[00:14:51] Yeah, keep them honest.

[00:14:51] Keep those safeties from creeping up too much.

[00:14:54] But it should –

[00:14:55] And they can't – they can't have the turnovers.

[00:14:57] Yeah, no, you saw what SMU did.

[00:15:00] Can't do that.

[00:15:03] But, yeah, no, I think it will be a really fun one.

[00:15:06] Hopefully, yeah, we're in for a good one.

[00:15:09] After that, Texas hosted Clemson.

[00:15:12] For the most part, Texas controlled the game.

[00:15:14] Clemson had spurts here and there.

[00:15:17] They brought it close.

[00:15:18] I think we all kind of expected that game to go kind of how it went.

[00:15:22] You know, Texas is just a better team.

[00:15:24] Clemson is going to show a little heart.

[00:15:25] But didn't really have the – they just didn't have it to beat a Texas team.

[00:15:31] I mean, they pretty much used their magic to get to the playoff.

[00:15:35] Yeah.

[00:15:36] And so, I mean, it was a – you know, honestly, it may have been the most interesting game of the first round.

[00:15:44] Because, I mean, Clemson did cut it to seven, you know, kind of later in the game.

[00:15:49] But, I mean, but you really felt no danger.

[00:15:51] You were like, oh, my gosh, Clemson might – no.

[00:15:54] We never had that feel to it.

[00:15:57] You know, for the most part, outside the one pick, I mean, Quinn Ewers had a great game.

[00:16:01] You kind of wanted to see what he would do.

[00:16:03] Because he's a good quarterback who does some weird stuff sometimes.

[00:16:07] He'll be having a great game and then all of a sudden throw a weird pick, have a weird fumble.

[00:16:12] And then it's just like, you know, at times we've seen that happen this year.

[00:16:16] So, overall, he had a great game.

[00:16:18] They ran the ball well.

[00:16:19] So, the defense looked like the Texas defense we've seen most of the year.

[00:16:24] So, you know, good win for the Longhorns there in Austin.

[00:16:30] No, absolutely.

[00:16:32] Yeah, a solid one.

[00:16:33] And that's a – I think that's a – sorry.

[00:16:41] There's some definite potential in that, sorry, that Clemson offense there.

[00:16:45] I think Clubnick and those young receivers, there's something there.

[00:16:49] Clubnick had a really good season.

[00:16:51] No, yeah, really did, really did.

[00:16:53] And there's something there.

[00:16:54] With those freshman receivers, yeah, they really have a little chemistry.

[00:16:59] Mm-hmm.

[00:17:00] And if they can build on that, I don't know what their schedule looks like next year,

[00:17:03] but they should be – you know, maybe they're not –

[00:17:06] It's still a start to get too tough.

[00:17:06] Yeah, maybe they're not going to get back to the heights of – what's up?

[00:17:09] I mean, it's the ACC.

[00:17:11] It's going to be so tough, right?

[00:17:12] That's true, yeah.

[00:17:13] That's true.

[00:17:15] Yeah, you know, and we'll see how they come back next year.

[00:17:20] Do they get back to the title game?

[00:17:21] Do they, you know, look as impressive as they did at times this year?

[00:17:25] Do they – or do they still have the – do they still have the problem

[00:17:28] when they run up against, you know, more –

[00:17:31] Good teams.

[00:17:32] Yeah, good teams.

[00:17:33] Do they lose?

[00:17:33] Because, again, this year their loss is to Georgia, South Carolina, and now –

[00:17:38] Texas.

[00:17:39] Texas.

[00:17:39] And Louisville, you know, I guess that was the outlier there.

[00:17:42] Or outlier – you know, Louisville was an above-average team.

[00:17:45] That was the outlier because they went in there and slaughtered Clemson.

[00:17:49] No one saw that coming.

[00:17:50] Yeah.

[00:17:51] No, yeah.

[00:17:52] They whooped them in their house.

[00:17:54] Yeah.

[00:17:54] But that's – you know, that's the thing.

[00:17:56] That's what we know.

[00:17:57] That's what's got to change for Davos Rooney's team is they got to win those big games.

[00:18:02] That expectation is going to be super high next year for them, I think.

[00:18:05] So, yeah, we'll see what they do with it.

[00:18:07] Yeah, absolutely.

[00:18:07] Absolutely.

[00:18:08] And so, Texas now moves on to the Peach Bowl.

[00:18:12] They will play Arizona State.

[00:18:14] I think that's a very interesting game.

[00:18:17] That is.

[00:18:18] That's a very interesting matchup right there.

[00:18:19] That kind of hard nose pounded out with Cam Scadabo.

[00:18:24] Offense, Arizona State.

[00:18:25] And then all the motion and eye candy and, you know, speed and tempo of the Texas offense

[00:18:30] with Sark.

[00:18:32] And then just the general big 12-ness of the matchup.

[00:18:36] All right.

[00:18:37] Yeah.

[00:18:37] I'll never quite know what exactly is going to happen there.

[00:18:41] I think that'll be a fun one.

[00:18:44] I mean, I guess the biggest thing, the only word I really have for Arizona State is their

[00:18:51] secondary gives up a lot of yards on the season.

[00:18:55] And so, I mean, Quinn Ewers could have a field day.

[00:19:01] Man.

[00:19:02] And, you know, the other thing you worry about, too, is, I mean, you know, right before the

[00:19:09] Big 12 title game, they lost their 1,100-yard receiver.

[00:19:13] I mean, they did well against, you know, in the title game against Iowa State running the

[00:19:20] ball with Scadabo.

[00:19:21] But, you know, long term, you wonder how much of that will that affect them?

[00:19:25] You know, will that have an effect on them?

[00:19:26] But, of course, they have more than a month to get ready.

[00:19:28] So, I think they'll be fine.

[00:19:31] You know, the other good thing for Arizona State, they're going to come into that game.

[00:19:36] And, you know, they should have no care in the world, you know?

[00:19:40] Yeah.

[00:19:40] There's no pressure on them.

[00:19:42] I mean, they should just come in house money.

[00:19:44] What happens, happens.

[00:19:45] Of course, you want to win the game.

[00:19:47] But, I mean, no one's going to be, oh, my gosh, how did you lose to Texas?

[00:19:51] You know?

[00:19:51] So, I mean, they have nothing to lose.

[00:19:53] I mean, they should come into that game, you know, just ready to go play.

[00:19:57] I don't think they're going to be intimidated by Texas because, you know, their coach, I

[00:20:01] think they've kind of taken on his identity.

[00:20:04] And, you know, he really seems to be, you know, he has a strong personality.

[00:20:14] Yeah, a real motivator.

[00:20:15] Motivator.

[00:20:16] He'll have his guys ready to go.

[00:20:19] Dilly will have his guys ready to go.

[00:20:20] And it'll be interesting just to see, you know, very different in styles.

[00:20:25] But I think a better game than a lot of people are expecting.

[00:20:30] No, yeah.

[00:20:31] They will be hyped.

[00:20:33] And I think, yeah, you made a good point.

[00:20:35] They're playing with house money.

[00:20:36] And no one expected them anywhere near the playoff.

[00:20:42] And so they're here.

[00:20:43] And they got nothing to lose.

[00:20:45] And that's what makes them dangerous to Texas.

[00:20:47] But you got to think about it.

[00:20:48] If they had made a bowl game this year, it would have been great.

[00:20:50] You know, compared to what they were last year, three and nine, if they went seven and

[00:20:53] five, that would have been pretty awesome.

[00:20:55] Yeah.

[00:20:56] It would have been a really good year.

[00:20:57] Yeah.

[00:20:57] To go from what they did last year to this point today, not only that, whether you think they

[00:21:03] should have got a buy or not, they still got a buy.

[00:21:05] I mean, won the Big 12, got a buy.

[00:21:07] I mean, it's impressive.

[00:21:08] So, you know, playing with house money, you know, against a good Texas team.

[00:21:14] I mean, they have nothing to lose.

[00:21:15] I mean, all the pressure's on Texas, clearly.

[00:21:17] So we'll see.

[00:21:19] Right.

[00:21:20] Yeah, exactly.

[00:21:22] Yeah.

[00:21:22] The pressure's on, you know, technically the lower seat.

[00:21:24] All the big boys.

[00:21:25] All right.

[00:21:26] Yeah.

[00:21:27] And then Saturday night, maybe the most surprising result of them all.

[00:21:31] Oh, I love it.

[00:21:32] Uh, Tennessee went into the, uh, the horseshoe.

[00:21:35] Yeah.

[00:21:36] The only time you're really here, us cheering for Ohio state.

[00:21:39] But I was at a, uh, I was at a Christmas party, a friend in Tuscaloosa actually, and

[00:21:45] me and, uh, old Pat Barfield, you know him.

[00:21:48] Uh, we were there at the same party and kept showing the score to each other on the phone

[00:21:55] and just going, Oh man, like, Oh shit.

[00:21:57] It just kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger.

[00:22:01] Yeah.

[00:22:01] It was the Ohio state that you expected to see all year.

[00:22:04] Exactly.

[00:22:05] I mean, they were great.

[00:22:07] And that was, you know, I said that in the betting thing.

[00:22:09] If Ohio state remembers that they have one of the best receiving cores in America, they

[00:22:14] should be fine.

[00:22:16] Yeah.

[00:22:17] But they shouldn't get away from them.

[00:22:18] Forget that they have a great wide receivers.

[00:22:20] Every year they have, you know, arguably the most talented roster in the country.

[00:22:27] Yeah.

[00:22:27] Yeah.

[00:22:28] If, if that Ohio state shows up every game, they're not, they're winning the national title.

[00:22:33] Oh, absolutely.

[00:22:34] Uh, I mean, that team is, but you don't know, you don't know what you're going to do.

[00:22:37] Exactly.

[00:22:38] Exactly.

[00:22:38] Yeah.

[00:22:39] Cause I mean, we, we don't know, you know, if it were, is that a, just a Michigan problem?

[00:22:43] Did they just, I don't know.

[00:22:45] Uh, but now, you know, they did completely dominated Tennessee after all that trash talk.

[00:22:51] Oh, we're going to take over the shoe.

[00:22:54] We're going to, you know, they did some funny stuff.

[00:22:55] You know, they changed the thing on the Apple maps to, uh, Neyland North.

[00:22:59] I mean, that's pretty funny, but, uh, you know, they came in there.

[00:23:04] I mean, they had a hell of a crowd with them and they made it seem like they're really going

[00:23:07] to take over.

[00:23:07] And, uh, you know, Ohio state went having that.

[00:23:10] They took it to them early and often.

[00:23:13] And, uh, you know, never much of a game there.

[00:23:15] I will say, of course, it was a little different with, you know, the running back did get hurt.

[00:23:20] So yeah.

[00:23:23] That turns the game plan a little bit.

[00:23:25] I mean, you know, you lose your all SEC running back.

[00:23:28] That changes some things.

[00:23:30] Um, but, but still that deep, you know, that vaunted vols defense, man, Ohio state had no

[00:23:37] trouble with it.

[00:23:38] No problem.

[00:23:39] They, they made that secondary look terrible.

[00:23:42] Yeah.

[00:23:42] Uh, yeah.

[00:23:43] And that's a big blow to all the, uh, SEC, Greg Sankey, especially, you know, out here

[00:23:49] talking about needing to change the process and, you know, quietly or not so quietly, you

[00:23:56] know, basically saying that the SEC deserve more teams in, and especially after all day

[00:24:01] Indiana, you know, lost SMU loss and people are like, see, see, you know where Alabama should

[00:24:07] be in here.

[00:24:08] Ole Miss should be in here.

[00:24:08] Well, then Tennessee comes in and just, you know, so that might, might, might quiet that

[00:24:16] argument down for a little bit, at least for a little bit.

[00:24:19] Probably not, but probably not.

[00:24:22] You know how, I mean, and I get it.

[00:24:24] I mean, he's supposed to do that, but it's like, dude, just chill out.

[00:24:27] Let's see.

[00:24:28] Let's let it play out.

[00:24:29] I mean, you could still get, have a national champion at the SEC and you have all the bragging

[00:24:34] rights at that point.

[00:24:35] Let's let it play out a little bit before you go crazy after every game.

[00:24:39] Yeah, exactly.

[00:24:40] And, you know, that's the most annoying point.

[00:24:43] And, you know, just seeing some Bama fans on my timeline is we're, we're some of the

[00:24:48] worst fans ever.

[00:24:49] Cause everybody's like, see, SMU got slaughtered.

[00:24:53] Man, we got slaughtered by OU.

[00:24:56] We can't say whether or not we're going to, if we show up at tops.

[00:24:59] Yeah.

[00:25:00] We could beat anybody, but we're, we're so inconsistent.

[00:25:02] You guys love to talk about the Georgia game, but admit that we got slaughtered by OU.

[00:25:09] You know?

[00:25:10] No, you know, no.

[00:25:12] Yeah.

[00:25:13] I wholeheartedly agree.

[00:25:14] And I actually had this little rant in our notes for actually bet right about now.

[00:25:20] Perfect time for it.

[00:25:20] And yeah, all these Alabama fans, you're an Alabama fan and you're in here talking, see,

[00:25:25] oh, so we should have, shut up.

[00:25:26] Just shut the fuck up.

[00:25:28] We got, like Greg just said, we got our ass kicked by Oklahoma team.

[00:25:32] We should have beat by a couple of scores.

[00:25:33] We lost to Vandy.

[00:25:35] And, you know, even though that was a better Vandy team than most years still, like there's,

[00:25:40] we shouldn't be losing to Vandy.

[00:25:41] But we can't say that we blow out Indiana or SMU based on that.

[00:25:45] Exactly.

[00:25:46] We had our chance, you know, Tennessee, we had three first half turnovers forced against

[00:25:50] them, didn't score a single point off of it.

[00:25:53] This Alabama team had its chances to make the playoffs.

[00:25:55] They didn't take those chances.

[00:25:57] They were just as inconsistent as any of these teams that we're talking about.

[00:26:02] So just shut up.

[00:26:03] Just, you know, just all of it, the whiny fans, the SEC fans in general, just shut up, man.

[00:26:11] I mean, Ole Miss lost to Kentucky.

[00:26:13] Kentucky.

[00:26:14] Kentucky.

[00:26:14] Exactly.

[00:26:15] Ole Miss.

[00:26:15] It was terrible this year.

[00:26:16] Terrible.

[00:26:17] And Ole Miss had a shot and blew it by losing to Florida in the swamp.

[00:26:20] You know, granted, a Florida team that was playing well at the time.

[00:26:24] But still, Ole Miss should have beat them if you're a playoff team.

[00:26:27] South Carolina fans, well, you lost to Ole Miss in Alabama.

[00:26:30] So that's already one, you know, knock against you.

[00:26:33] But two, you lost your games to that LSU game early in the year.

[00:26:36] You had so many chances to win that and you blew it.

[00:26:40] Yeah, granted, I know there was a bad call in that game, but still.

[00:26:43] You guys grew up a lot.

[00:26:45] Yeah.

[00:26:45] You were up in 21.

[00:26:46] Were they at 21?

[00:26:48] Yeah, they blew it.

[00:26:50] Yeah.

[00:26:50] And I know Lenore Sala's got hurt in that, but still, you blew your chances in that game.

[00:26:54] So don't.

[00:26:55] Just everybody shut up.

[00:26:56] And while we're on it, I'm going to go through the whole rant now.

[00:27:00] All these people saying, talking about bringing back the BCS.

[00:27:03] No.

[00:27:03] Shut up.

[00:27:05] The BCS is terrible.

[00:27:06] And do you, all these people are talking about all these blowouts.

[00:27:09] Oh, see, look what expansion gets us.

[00:27:10] More blowouts.

[00:27:12] Do y'all not remember how many terrible BCS title games there were?

[00:27:16] Man.

[00:27:16] Just blowouts.

[00:27:17] That's horrible.

[00:27:18] Oklahoma, Florida State.

[00:27:21] Oh, man.

[00:27:22] 13 to 2.

[00:27:23] Yeah, terrible game.

[00:27:24] USC, Oklahoma.

[00:27:25] USC blew the doors off.

[00:27:28] Ooh, 55 to like, what, 19 or something like that game.

[00:27:31] Every time Ohio State went to the championship game, they got the doors blown off.

[00:27:35] Whether it was LSU, whether it was Florida, it didn't matter.

[00:27:38] Like, we've seen plenty of bad title games.

[00:27:42] 2011, LSU-Alabama rematch.

[00:27:45] Alabama.

[00:27:45] LSU didn't get across the 50-yard line until the very end of the game.

[00:27:50] That game was not a contest.

[00:27:52] The very next year, Alabama beats the ever-loving dog shit.

[00:27:57] Yeah.

[00:27:58] It's way worse than that.

[00:27:59] Oh, that game was over after the first drive, and everyone knew it.

[00:28:05] And then the 14th playoff.

[00:28:07] How many of those games were blowouts?

[00:28:09] Alabama, Michigan State?

[00:28:10] There wasn't hardly any good semifinal games in all these years.

[00:28:15] We got a couple at the end.

[00:28:18] Yeah, we had that one year when it was the TCU-Michigan game and that Georgia-Ohio State game.

[00:28:25] Two epic finals, and then it led to a terrible national title game.

[00:28:30] Yeah.

[00:28:30] How many, you know, so, expansion, look.

[00:28:35] Expansion is not the reason we're getting blowouts.

[00:28:37] It's not a bad thing.

[00:28:38] More football is not a bad thing.

[00:28:39] I don't get all of these people that are complaining about more meaningful football.

[00:28:44] You're not a real football fan.

[00:28:46] Yeah.

[00:28:46] You are just.

[00:28:48] For what didn't, like, just say you won a Big Ten versus SEC tournament every year.

[00:28:52] Exactly, yeah.

[00:28:53] Just be honest.

[00:28:53] Just be honest.

[00:28:54] And just say, I mean, now, I will say this.

[00:29:02] Now, in the future, that's not automatically what we have talked about.

[00:29:07] I think a lot of people have talked about it.

[00:29:08] Don't automatically give a conference champion a third and a fourth thing.

[00:29:14] Yeah.

[00:29:14] So, for example, you know, you don't have, let's say, I don't know, and you could go a lot of ways with how they did the buys.

[00:29:22] I mean, let's say Arizona State, you give, I don't know, but let's just say Texas and Penn State get those buys just for, you know, at that point.

[00:29:31] And, of course, you might have more interesting first round games.

[00:29:33] You might have a Boise versus SMU, Arizona State versus Clemson.

[00:29:38] You know, maybe some more interesting first round games.

[00:29:41] Maybe, maybe not.

[00:29:42] But, I mean, that's one way you could get maybe a more interesting first round game is, you know, without those buys.

[00:29:49] And, of course, the other thing we can do in the second round, even though I think we have some interesting games, is that you, you know, reseed accordingly.

[00:29:57] And you have, you know, you don't have Oregon playing Ohio State, you know, in your quarterfinals, which is weird.

[00:30:06] Yeah, it's dumb, but, you know, I think the bigger problem is the not-playoff expansion.

[00:30:14] I agree with you that, yeah, we've talked about this before, that the automatic buys for the conference champs, that's dumb.

[00:30:21] Yeah, let them in.

[00:30:21] Just see the teams.

[00:30:23] Just use the rankings to see the teams.

[00:30:26] But, if you want to look at the problem and why there's blowouts or why teams who play weak schedules, like, how does Indiana play, you know, a year where they miss some big teams?

[00:30:37] How does SMU play a season where they don't have to play Clemson or, you know, Miami in the regular season?

[00:30:44] Well, that's because we got 18 damn teams in the conferences now.

[00:30:48] That's impossible.

[00:30:49] That's where, it's conference realignment.

[00:30:50] That's the problem.

[00:30:51] That's the problem.

[00:30:51] The Big Ten ate the Pac-12 alive, you know, and now they're going to have, you know, the rematch of, you know, their regular season's biggest game in the quarterfinals.

[00:31:05] Quarterfinals.

[00:31:05] That's crazy.

[00:31:06] I mean, it's great for us.

[00:31:07] I mean, it doesn't get any bigger.

[00:31:11] I mean, it's kind of weird, of course, now that they're the same conference, so it looks weird.

[00:31:15] But, I mean, to have the Rose Bowl on January 1st, to have Ohio State versus Oregon, I mean, that's a big answer.

[00:31:22] Yeah, we got our Big Ten Pac-12 matchup.

[00:31:26] We got our Rose Bowl that they love because it's a big Ten Pac-12.

[00:31:30] People thought it was the greatest thing in history.

[00:31:33] So, we'll have that.

[00:31:34] So, I'm not mad at that.

[00:31:35] I don't think anybody's mad at that.

[00:31:36] I mean, that's a hell of a game.

[00:31:38] Weird that it's not, you know, early in the thing.

[00:31:40] But, hey, it is what it is.

[00:31:44] But then the people that say, oh, Indiana didn't play anybody.

[00:31:50] Let's look at what we expect.

[00:31:52] Indiana.

[00:31:53] No one expects Indiana to win games.

[00:31:55] So, the fact that they, whether down or not, they beat Washington.

[00:32:00] They beat, you know, they beat Michigan.

[00:32:06] Did they play Illinois?

[00:32:08] Did they play?

[00:32:09] I don't know if they played Illinois or not.

[00:32:10] But, either way, I mean, they played teams that normally you would never expect them to be on the same page with.

[00:32:16] So, that's not their fault.

[00:32:18] Yeah, they literally improved.

[00:32:21] They played the two participants in last year's title game.

[00:32:24] They played Michigan and Washington.

[00:32:26] And they handled business and won both games.

[00:32:29] And it's not their fault that both of those teams fell off so bad.

[00:32:32] But, man.

[00:32:33] And then you look at, you know, SMU.

[00:32:36] And I said it before.

[00:32:39] And this and other spots is SMU moved up from the American Conference to the ACC.

[00:32:45] So, in that move in itself, you've already planned a better schedule just by moving up to a power four conference.

[00:32:53] Every week, you're playing better.

[00:32:55] I mean, it's every now and again you'll get a, you know, a Memphis Army.

[00:32:57] But, consistently, you're going to be every week playing a better team in the ACC every week.

[00:33:03] On top of that, I mean, they played who they could play.

[00:33:07] I mean, you know, when they played Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh was great.

[00:33:11] I mean, Pittsburgh was undefeated and they throttled Pittsburgh.

[00:33:14] I mean, they beat a, you know, a nine-win Duke team.

[00:33:18] I mean, they, you know, beat a good Louisville team on the road.

[00:33:23] I mean, every opportunity they had, they handled for the most part.

[00:33:29] And then you look at it, too, they're non-conference.

[00:33:31] I mean, people say their schedule is weak.

[00:33:32] But not too many people are playing BYU and TCU in their non-conference.

[00:33:36] So, I mean, they, it may sound weak and they didn't have any top 25 wins per se.

[00:33:44] But, I mean, people were around the top 25 all year, you know, that they played.

[00:33:49] So, it's better than people give some credit for it.

[00:33:53] Yeah, look, Duke, it's conference, exactly.

[00:33:56] Conference realignment is the problem.

[00:33:59] That's how we're going to get all of these uneven conference schedules where,

[00:34:04] and, you know, and maybe in most years, you know, it'll take care of itself

[00:34:06] because two teams that don't play each other will meet and we can figure it out.

[00:34:10] But, yeah, you know there's going to be a year where we're going to have, like,

[00:34:14] three undefeated teams, you know, and only two of them get to play for a conference crown

[00:34:20] because it's just, it's just the nature.

[00:34:22] Yeah, it's just, look, this is, the BCS is not the answer.

[00:34:28] We're still in a better position than we've ever been

[00:34:31] because we have a playoff system with 12 teams.

[00:34:35] Exactly.

[00:34:36] And, again, I've said it before.

[00:34:38] If you ask me, the answer is expand to 16, give every conference champion a bid,

[00:34:44] and then give the rest of the at-larges, and that way the Big Ten and SEC can load up on at-larges

[00:34:50] and then put all the games on campus until the title game, and that way everyone's happy.

[00:34:57] The big boys get all their teams in, and it's fair, quote-unquote,

[00:35:03] because every conference champion has a legit shot.

[00:35:06] And then the people that whine about blowouts,

[00:35:08] you just need to remember that every year there's blowouts in this sport.

[00:35:12] There's going to be blowouts every year.

[00:35:14] Every year.

[00:35:15] Every year.

[00:35:16] Every year.

[00:35:16] It was so rare.

[00:35:18] Everyone likes to think the BCS, like, every game was the Texas and USC Rose Bowl.

[00:35:24] No, it wasn't.

[00:35:25] No, it wasn't.

[00:35:26] The reason why I remember that game is because it was so far.

[00:35:30] Exactly.

[00:35:31] Exactly.

[00:35:32] We could probably sit here and go through every BCS title game,

[00:35:36] and how many of them were really that memorable?

[00:35:38] You know, Tennessee, Florida State.

[00:35:40] What do you remember about that game?

[00:35:41] Nothing.

[00:35:42] The only thing you remember about that game is Florida State was playing a third-string quarterback,

[00:35:46] and it was very boring.

[00:35:47] Yeah.

[00:35:48] You know what?

[00:35:49] That game, you know what I remember more about that Monday night than that?

[00:35:53] That was the night when Hogan and Nashville out of Nashville with the finger of doom.

[00:35:59] I remember that more than the national title game, honestly.

[00:36:02] I didn't realize that was the same night.

[00:36:04] The finger poke of doom.

[00:36:06] Yeah, same night.

[00:36:06] Well, okay.

[00:36:07] Then after that, what do you have?

[00:36:08] Florida State and Virginia Tech.

[00:36:10] Great three quarters of football.

[00:36:12] I mean, Mike Vick.

[00:36:13] Yeah, Peter Wark, Mike Vick.

[00:36:15] Yeah, show.

[00:36:15] But really, yeah, it wasn't close in the end.

[00:36:18] No.

[00:36:18] Then you had that 2000 we mentioned.

[00:36:20] Oklahoma won 13-2.

[00:36:22] Terrible.

[00:36:23] Terrible.

[00:36:24] Then 2001, Miami just beats the brakes off of Nebraska.

[00:36:28] Nebraska just shouldn't even have been in that game because they got slaughtered at the end

[00:36:32] of the regular season.

[00:36:34] That's right.

[00:36:34] Colorado beat them by like 28.

[00:36:36] Yeah, and put like 60 on them, right?

[00:36:38] Something like that, if I remember that.

[00:36:40] Yeah.

[00:36:41] The next year, okay, there's one of the good games.

[00:36:43] Miami and Ohio State, even if Miami got screwed out of their back-to-back title.

[00:36:48] Still a good game.

[00:36:49] Yeah, good game.

[00:36:50] Yeah, exactly.

[00:36:51] Let's see.

[00:36:52] Year after that, now is where I'm going to have trouble remembering.

[00:36:56] Who followed that?

[00:36:57] 2003 would have been...

[00:37:00] LSU, Oklahoma.

[00:37:01] Yeah.

[00:37:02] That was LSU, Oklahoma.

[00:37:02] You know, it was LSU.

[00:37:05] I mean, it was...

[00:37:07] Pretty dominant.

[00:37:18] It wasn't...

[00:37:19] I think they beat Michigan that year.

[00:37:23] I'd have to remember, but yeah, that was another year.

[00:37:26] Exactly.

[00:37:26] We still had a split champion that year, so...

[00:37:28] Still had a split time.

[00:37:30] Yeah, ridiculous.

[00:37:31] And then the year after that, USC beat the hell out of Oklahoma.

[00:37:35] Yeah.

[00:37:35] The year after that was your Vince Young game.

[00:37:38] Okay.

[00:37:39] So that's two good games so far.

[00:37:41] In 2006, Florida housed Ohio State.

[00:37:44] Yeah, Ohio State, Ted Ginn brought back to opening kickoff, and then after that was all Gators.

[00:37:51] Yeah.

[00:37:51] Next year, Ohio State gets back to it.

[00:37:53] LSU dominates it.

[00:37:55] Two lost LSU teams.

[00:37:57] Yeah.

[00:37:57] 2008, Oklahoma and...

[00:38:00] Yeah, 2007, that crazy year, LSU lost their final regular season game.

[00:38:05] Yeah, and then somehow got into that title game.

[00:38:07] Yeah.

[00:38:08] Like we said, if only Rich Rod's West Virginia team hadn't choked to Pittsburgh, they'd have been in that one, and that could have been epic.

[00:38:17] Next year after that, Florida beats Oklahoma at a very unmemorable game.

[00:38:21] That was boring.

[00:38:22] After that, Alabama and Texas had flashes, but largely it was an Alabama-dominant win, you know?

[00:38:28] Yeah.

[00:38:30] After that, Auburn and Oregon.

[00:38:31] Okay, there's another good one.

[00:38:33] That's two.

[00:38:33] That's three.

[00:38:35] Alabama beat the hell out of LSU.

[00:38:37] Alabama beat the hell out of Notre Dame.

[00:38:39] And then Florida State-Auburn, the last BCS title game.

[00:38:42] That was a really good one.

[00:38:43] Yeah, so that's four good games out of how many did I say?

[00:38:47] Like 15?

[00:38:47] 98.

[00:38:49] Yeah, that's...

[00:38:50] Yeah, that's...

[00:38:51] 98 to 2013, we have four good games.

[00:38:54] Exactly.

[00:38:55] So that's...

[00:38:56] People are looking at this with these rose-tinted glasses, and they are not...

[00:39:01] Like the BCS was not full of classics.

[00:39:04] It wasn't.

[00:39:05] It had one that is in the pantheon of college football games.

[00:39:10] It's arguably the greatest college football game I ever played.

[00:39:12] Right.

[00:39:12] It had...

[00:39:13] And then another three that are very good, very memorable games.

[00:39:17] Yeah.

[00:39:18] Even then, that many people really don't...

[00:39:20] If you talk about great games, they don't talk about Auburn-Oregon games.

[00:39:23] Nobody talks about the Auburn-Oregon game.

[00:39:25] Yeah.

[00:39:25] If you talk about that season, you talk about the comeback game.

[00:39:28] Honestly.

[00:39:29] Yeah.

[00:39:30] Exactly.

[00:39:30] The comeback game.

[00:39:31] His run against LSU that year, yeah.

[00:39:34] Yeah, nobody talks about that at all.

[00:39:38] No, yeah.

[00:39:39] It's a...

[00:39:40] Yeah.

[00:39:42] So, yeah.

[00:39:43] People need to just chill out with that shit.

[00:39:45] And just remember that this is a sport that's full of blowouts, because these are college

[00:39:49] kids out here playing, so sometimes they're...

[00:39:52] Yeah, you don't know what you're going to get.

[00:39:53] Their mindset changes.

[00:39:55] You know, they break up with their girlfriend.

[00:39:57] That's going to hit them harder than...

[00:39:58] You know?

[00:39:59] Mm-hmm.

[00:39:59] Anything could happen.

[00:40:00] I don't know.

[00:40:01] You know?

[00:40:01] Yeah.

[00:40:02] Um...

[00:40:02] Yeah.

[00:40:04] Because, I mean, a lot of shit affected us that probably shouldn't have when we were

[00:40:07] 20, 21, age 19.

[00:40:10] Yeah.

[00:40:10] You know, threw off our whole day.

[00:40:12] Probably the dumbest shit ever now in the long term.

[00:40:14] You look at it, but back then, it was the most important part of your life.

[00:40:17] Mm-hmm.

[00:40:18] Whether you're having girl problems, money problems, you know, it's all types of stuff.

[00:40:23] Mm-hmm.

[00:40:24] So, who knows?

[00:40:25] But, yeah, I mean, let's just enjoy what we have.

[00:40:28] I mean, it's still great.

[00:40:29] Like, I mean, we got to see four, four playoff games in home stadiums.

[00:40:37] Right.

[00:40:37] And the other thing that really pissed me off is that it was, oh, these tickets are going

[00:40:41] for like $100.

[00:40:43] Oh, these water-warring tickets are going for $500, you know, $1,000.

[00:40:47] But let me tell you this.

[00:40:49] That is a good thing.

[00:40:50] That's a great thing.

[00:40:52] For the average fan, you know, if you're a Penn State fan and you got to only pay $100

[00:40:57] to go see a playoff game or $75 in Austin, the tickets weren't that expensive, how epic

[00:41:03] is that that you could possibly take you and your kids to the game for like $200, $300

[00:41:08] instead of $300, $400?

[00:41:09] Right.

[00:41:10] To me, that's an argument for more home games.

[00:41:13] Yeah, that's an argument for more home games.

[00:41:14] How great is that that the only game that was kind of super expensive was Indiana and

[00:41:18] Notre Dame?

[00:41:19] The rest of the games were pretty manageable.

[00:41:21] You could, most people probably could afford at least two tickets and you can get into

[00:41:26] a playoff game to your favorite team that you probably haven't even been able to see

[00:41:30] all season because regular season tickets are ridiculous.

[00:41:33] And you got to see your favorite team in the playoff game for possibly $200 if you took

[00:41:37] someone with you.

[00:41:38] That's epic.

[00:41:39] Yeah, that's great.

[00:41:40] I'm all for it.

[00:41:42] Yeah.

[00:41:42] Take a price.

[00:41:43] It should not be for the average fan that can't go.

[00:41:46] And that, and there's 12 team playoff.

[00:41:48] We saw four games this weekend.

[00:41:50] We'll see four games next weekend to two semifinals after that in a title game.

[00:41:54] That is 11 meaningful games that all matter in the terms of choosing champion.

[00:41:59] The systems we have before the BCS, guess what?

[00:42:02] Only one game really mattered.

[00:42:04] The four, the 14 playoff.

[00:42:06] Guess what?

[00:42:07] Yeah.

[00:42:08] Three games really matter.

[00:42:09] You know?

[00:42:10] Yeah.

[00:42:12] And I just, I don't get it.

[00:42:14] Like if you are complaining about having more meaningful college football, you are weird

[00:42:19] and just go watch the NFL.

[00:42:21] If you're one of these that thinks it's only should be the SEC and big 10 or just the big

[00:42:25] boys, go watch the NFL.

[00:42:27] Stop.

[00:42:28] Go watch the NFL.

[00:42:29] Yeah.

[00:42:29] Because I mean, the NFL has new people all the time show up.

[00:42:33] Yeah.

[00:42:34] And it's so weird.

[00:42:34] So if, you know, if you look at like compared to the March Madness, if the 13 seed gets

[00:42:41] blown out by the four seed, people don't sit there and go, Oh, well, they just go, they

[00:42:46] go, Oh yeah, that should have happened.

[00:42:48] Four seed look good, man.

[00:42:49] Yeah.

[00:42:49] Yeah.

[00:42:50] Yeah.

[00:42:51] Like.

[00:42:52] Yeah.

[00:42:53] That's weird.

[00:42:55] It's weird.

[00:42:55] And a lot of it's just, you know, the SEC fans are very, very weak over the weekend.

[00:43:02] I thought.

[00:43:06] Folks, folks not in where really, Oh my gosh, everything's so terrible.

[00:43:10] Why are we having all these blowout games?

[00:43:12] There were no epic games.

[00:43:13] That's going to happen time to time.

[00:43:16] Exactly.

[00:43:16] Yeah.

[00:43:17] It's going to happen.

[00:43:17] It's going to happen pretty much every year.

[00:43:19] So get used to it.

[00:43:20] Yeah.

[00:43:20] And you should already be used to it.

[00:43:22] Honestly.

[00:43:24] All right.

[00:43:25] Anything else in college you want to talk on before we move?

[00:43:28] You know, not anything.

[00:43:30] Try to think.

[00:43:32] You know, just some, some more interesting stuff just in the, you know, transfer

[00:43:36] reporter, you know, Alabama started getting some people.

[00:43:41] You know, we've seen other, I guess the weirdest thing was, you know, the, the,

[00:43:46] I can't even think of his name, the former Duke and Texas quarterback.

[00:43:49] He's an Oregon state.

[00:43:50] Now I thought that was a weird move.

[00:43:52] Malik Murphy.

[00:43:53] Yeah.

[00:43:54] Malik Murphy.

[00:43:54] And I'm thinking, I think that was more him being told he was out because of the

[00:43:58] dude coming from Tulane than anything.

[00:44:00] Cause I don't think he was, that was his first choice.

[00:44:03] I know.

[00:44:04] Yeah.

[00:44:04] I think that was a, uh, look, thank you for this year, but you're not going to be the

[00:44:09] starter next year or at the very least you're going to have to compete for it.

[00:44:12] And maybe he wanted to go.

[00:44:15] I thought maybe he was going somewhere bigger than Oregon state.

[00:44:18] Honestly, I was like, well, I don't know.

[00:44:19] Wow.

[00:44:20] Wow.

[00:44:20] Who knows?

[00:44:21] Um, yeah.

[00:44:24] Um, let's move to the pros.

[00:44:26] It was a eventful weekend, uh, for the pros.

[00:44:30] They played Thursday night, uh, charters and Broncos chargers got a big win for them.

[00:44:34] Like that was huge.

[00:44:35] Yeah.

[00:44:36] Yeah.

[00:44:36] Uh, yesterday, Saturday, uh, couple matchups, the chiefs and Houston chiefs pulled out another

[00:44:44] one.

[00:44:45] Uh, one step closer to clinching home field advantage.

[00:44:48] Uh, and the Ravens finally got their win over their Steelers.

[00:44:52] Uh, pretty.

[00:44:53] And the fast you expected.

[00:44:55] More than the fast you expected.

[00:44:57] Yeah, exactly.

[00:44:58] Yeah.

[00:44:58] Uh, pick six kind of running.

[00:45:00] Derek Henry ran all over them.

[00:45:01] Um, Lamar played a great game.

[00:45:04] You know, had the, the wonder interception just look like, you know, more of the receiver's

[00:45:08] fault, but a complete game for the Ravens and a huge thing because it clinches a playoff

[00:45:12] birth and it, uh, draws them level on the record with the Steelers.

[00:45:17] But the Steelers, the division right there for them.

[00:45:21] Yep.

[00:45:21] Steelers hold a tiebreaker.

[00:45:22] I think a conference winning percentage, but the Steelers, I believe have probably two

[00:45:26] tougher games left.

[00:45:28] Um, I think the Ravens had the Texans on Christmas.

[00:45:33] That's a tough one.

[00:45:34] Yeah.

[00:45:35] I believe it's in Baltimore and then the Steelers have the chiefs.

[00:45:39] Oh, yep.

[00:45:40] Cause that's the, that's the, uh, is that the, the Netflix things, right?

[00:45:45] Both of those are the best.

[00:45:46] Yeah.

[00:45:47] Yeah.

[00:45:47] Both of those are the Christmas day Netflix.

[00:45:49] So we'll see how good, uh, Netflix, uh, certain servers are.

[00:45:53] Hopefully it's better than Tyson fight.

[00:45:55] Better than Tyson fight.

[00:45:56] Cause I'm interested with that.

[00:45:57] Cause of course, Bundy not raw is going to Netflix in January.

[00:46:00] So I'll be interested to see.

[00:46:02] Cause they definitely need some improvements.

[00:46:05] Yeah, for sure.

[00:46:07] But, um, so yeah, big one for the Ravens yesterday.

[00:46:10] Uh, like I said, it pulls them level.

[00:46:12] It gives them a shot to take the division and a home game.

[00:46:15] Mm-hmm.

[00:46:17] The, today, some of the big events were the Falcons, Bengals, Colts, and Dolphins all getting

[00:46:25] wins and keeping their very slim playoff hopes alive.

[00:46:29] Yep.

[00:46:29] Um, the Falcons, of course, they're, they're rooting for your Cowboys right now.

[00:46:35] Oh, yeah.

[00:46:37] Oh, yeah.

[00:46:37] For the division.

[00:46:39] Yeah.

[00:46:39] And I'm shocked, you know, we're playing, we're playing with a lot of heart consider we're

[00:46:42] eliminated.

[00:46:43] You know, that Washington win eliminated us from the playoffs.

[00:46:47] And, you know, I'm shocked.

[00:46:48] We're playing with a lot of heart more than maybe we did at times.

[00:46:51] We probably should have had playing with heart.

[00:46:53] But, uh, but, and then we're up nine.

[00:46:56] And we're up nine with 13 minutes right now.

[00:46:58] So, it's interesting to see if we can beat the Bucs.

[00:47:01] And that'd be a bad loss for the Bucs considering what, you know, what, excuse me, what's possibly

[00:47:08] on the line.

[00:47:09] Um, you know, the Falcons, uh, you know, play to, the Giants make anybody look good.

[00:47:15] So, the Falcons, that was a game they definitely, you know, welcome opponent considering how

[00:47:20] they've looked as of late.

[00:47:21] And, you know, some weird stuff.

[00:47:23] I mean, obviously, there are, you know, moving, most Atlanta thing ever already moving on from

[00:47:27] Kirk Cousins.

[00:47:28] Came down $100 million contract and supposedly already moving on from him.

[00:47:33] I'm like, wow.

[00:47:34] We didn't make it a full season.

[00:47:37] I don't know yet.

[00:47:38] Do they find a trade partner that wants to take on that contract?

[00:47:41] Do they cut them and just have all that dead cat money?

[00:47:44] You would think.

[00:47:45] I have no idea.

[00:47:46] Trying to avoid that because that would cripple what they can do in free agency.

[00:47:49] But the thing is, is no one's really going to go for that because everybody's like, well,

[00:47:52] obviously, you don't want them.

[00:47:53] So, you know, we, we're not desperate to sign them because, you know, there's no incentive

[00:48:01] for us to sign them and take on that money.

[00:48:04] Um, so it'd be interesting.

[00:48:06] Well, that's the most Falcons thing ever, you know, it was tough enough that they drafted,

[00:48:11] uh, you know, Mike after they, after they did that, uh, big sign.

[00:48:16] And now, now that they're moving on from, I say, wow.

[00:48:20] And I don't know if Kirk was necessarily the problem, but no.

[00:48:24] Yeah.

[00:48:25] And there's, there's some, uh, other, you know, articles I read and stuff I listened to

[00:48:29] that they brought up some points that, you know, maybe there's something in between when

[00:48:33] the Falcons saw or signed Kirk Cousins that they saw in between then and when they drafted

[00:48:40] that made them draft Penix.

[00:48:42] Yeah.

[00:48:43] You know, but.

[00:48:43] It's weird.

[00:48:44] It's weird.

[00:48:45] Uh, you know, they still have a learn how to use your, your tight end.

[00:48:50] Yeah.

[00:48:50] Yeah.

[00:48:51] Cal pit still criminally underused, but yeah.

[00:48:53] Like you said, they're big Cowboys fans.

[00:48:54] Cause of course they hold the tiebreaker cause they swept the season series.

[00:49:00] So they just need us level.

[00:49:02] Yeah.

[00:49:04] They definitely need us tonight.

[00:49:06] We're up 11.

[00:49:06] I mean, up nine.

[00:49:07] We'll see if we can hold on.

[00:49:09] Yeah.

[00:49:09] Elsewhere.

[00:49:10] Like I mentioned the Bengals, they took care of business against the Browns today.

[00:49:14] Uh, so they keep their slim playoff hopes alive.

[00:49:17] The Colts, uh, almost blew it.

[00:49:20] You know, big game from Jonathan Taylor and they were up.

[00:49:24] Titans chipped it away and kind of made it close at the end there, but they held on to

[00:49:29] their slim playoff hopes and two in the Dolphins beat the 49ers, uh, at home to keep their,

[00:49:37] uh, hopes alive as well.

[00:49:39] They're all sitting right there in the AFC, uh, bring this up.

[00:49:44] They're all behind the Broncos currently have the seven seed.

[00:49:49] Uh, the Colts are first in line surprisingly because they have the tiebreaker over Cincinnati

[00:49:55] and Miami.

[00:49:57] Wow.

[00:49:57] So Cincy and Miami looking for the Colts to lose.

[00:50:01] And then the Chargers and Broncos both just need one win in their last two games to clinch

[00:50:07] the playoff spot.

[00:50:08] So.

[00:50:08] That's interesting.

[00:50:10] Yeah.

[00:50:10] And a lot of stuff needs to go on there.

[00:50:13] Uh, over at the NFC, of course, the Falcons are, they're rooting for the, um, the Tampa,

[00:50:19] their division.

[00:50:20] You know, it's a much easier path for them.

[00:50:21] The Commanders, that was a huge win for them today.

[00:50:24] Huge win.

[00:50:25] Yeah.

[00:50:26] Um, H.T.

[00:50:26] Daly go out with the concussion.

[00:50:28] And that may have changed the game a little bit, but you know, there's an epic performance

[00:50:32] by Jaden Daniels today.

[00:50:34] And amazing.

[00:50:35] And even though, yeah, Jalen Hurts went down for the Eagles, but still Washington had five

[00:50:40] turnovers today.

[00:50:41] The Eagles should have won that game.

[00:50:43] Yeah.

[00:50:43] Um, as it is right now, Detroit, that gives them a leg up again on the, for the one seed

[00:50:50] in the NFC, uh, the Seattle Seahawks are still alive, but they, same boat as those AFC teams.

[00:50:58] They need the Commanders to lose out and the Seahawks need to win both of their games.

[00:51:02] Yeah.

[00:51:03] Yeah.

[00:51:03] Tough loss today.

[00:51:05] Yeah.

[00:51:05] Tough loss at home to the Vikings.

[00:51:07] Uh, but that, uh, man, that, uh, that last touchdown pass.

[00:51:13] Oh, to Jefferson.

[00:51:14] Yeah.

[00:51:15] Man, that was a beautiful pass.

[00:51:17] It was.

[00:51:17] Yeah.

[00:51:18] Ran up in the pocket, saw his guy, threw it outside, away from the safety.

[00:51:23] Good catch.

[00:51:24] Beautiful.

[00:51:24] Jefferson.

[00:51:25] Beautiful.

[00:51:25] Yeah.

[00:51:27] And it'll be interesting to see what Minnesota does with them next year.

[00:51:30] You know, JJ will be healthy again.

[00:51:33] You know, they let him sit another year, considering he'll technically still be in his rookie year.

[00:51:37] He never played, you know, in the NFL at all.

[00:51:40] You know, do you let him sit another year, let him learn?

[00:51:44] Um, yeah.

[00:51:46] Yeah, no, it's, um, yeah, it's interesting.

[00:51:49] You know, I don't think, you know, if, if you can get Darnold on a reasonable contract

[00:51:54] again next year.

[00:51:55] Because, I mean, I mean, he'd be far beyond what anybody would have ever hoped or would

[00:52:01] have happened, um, with him.

[00:52:03] Mm-hmm.

[00:52:04] And that'll be interesting next week, Atlanta and Washington, Sunday night.

[00:52:10] They play, all right.

[00:52:11] Yeah, I was going to say, that's what I was about to look at next, uh, next, next week's

[00:52:15] schedule.

[00:52:16] Um, as we mentioned, it starts weirdly Wednesday.

[00:52:19] I know the NBA is not happy about it.

[00:52:22] Uh, the NFL, yeah.

[00:52:25] Yeah.

[00:52:25] And the NBA's ratings have been horrible this year.

[00:52:28] They have, but it's so weird because it still feels like it's so popular.

[00:52:32] Uh, yeah.

[00:52:34] So, they just got translating to TV ratings, I guess.

[00:52:37] Yeah, I don't know.

[00:52:38] People are still talking about the NBA the same, and I haven't noticed any real difference

[00:52:42] in people talking about it.

[00:52:44] But, yeah, the ratings are terrible.

[00:52:48] So, yeah, uh, I don't know.

[00:52:50] Yeah, it's a weird phenomenon.

[00:52:51] But next week, NFL, we mentioned two big games Wednesday.

[00:52:55] KC trying to lock up home field advantage.

[00:52:57] Pittsburgh trying to keep their, uh, AFC North.

[00:53:00] Uh, title hopes alive.

[00:53:02] Baltimore, same thing.

[00:53:03] Trying to win.

[00:53:04] They get to the AFC North crown.

[00:53:07] Yeah.

[00:53:07] Houston, um, I think they, have they clinched the division?

[00:53:10] I don't know.

[00:53:11] I was about to say, but they're, uh, that actually, that game's in Houston.

[00:53:15] Pittsburgh and Houston are the hosts for those two games.

[00:53:18] Yeah.

[00:53:19] Uh, Thursday night, Seattle, uh, trying to stay alive.

[00:53:21] They travel to Chicago.

[00:53:23] Should be able to win.

[00:53:25] I would hope they'd win there.

[00:53:26] Should be easier.

[00:53:27] Uh, next Saturday, we got a triple header.

[00:53:30] The Chargers travel to New England, so they need that win.

[00:53:32] And then a big one as Denver and Cincinnati square off.

[00:53:38] Oh, that's, that's huge.

[00:53:40] Yeah, it's an elimination game right there for the Rams.

[00:53:42] Yeah.

[00:53:43] They can steal that one.

[00:53:45] And then they give themselves just one more shot.

[00:53:47] Cause you know that, but you know, if it, if there's a team you don't want to see an

[00:53:51] elimination game, it's the Bengals.

[00:53:53] I mean, cause clearly they are, they're so talented.

[00:53:56] They could easily just go off and drop 40 points real quick on you.

[00:54:01] And like, they have that ability to do so.

[00:54:03] Of course, the reason where they're at is they haven't done that a lot this year.

[00:54:07] So, um, you know, not as consistent as you would like, but then we've seen what they've done against good teams.

[00:54:12] So that'll be interesting what they do next week there.

[00:54:15] So that'll be fun.

[00:54:17] Absolutely.

[00:54:18] And then next Sunday, uh, Buffalo, they host the Jets.

[00:54:22] So they had a tough one with new England today, surprisingly.

[00:54:24] They did.

[00:54:25] But, um, they pulled out the win and then they get the Jets next week at home as they, they need to keep winning.

[00:54:33] Green Bay, Minnesota should be a fun one.

[00:54:35] Uh, just a seeding battle there.

[00:54:38] Yeah.

[00:54:39] Um, Indy tries to keep their hopes alive.

[00:54:42] They travel to New York to face the jet, the giants, excuse me.

[00:54:45] So should be a winnable one there.

[00:54:47] Tampa Bay gets a, a suddenly dangerous Carolina team.

[00:54:52] Yeah.

[00:54:53] They were so different the last month.

[00:54:57] Yeah.

[00:54:57] That's good to see.

[00:54:58] That's good to see Bryce looking good.

[00:55:01] Um, so that, yeah, who knows?

[00:55:05] Miami travels to Cleveland.

[00:55:07] So a little cold weather Miami game.

[00:55:09] So, you know, they struggled there.

[00:55:11] But man, Hey, you know, of course, if you want to kind of win that one, I mean, if there's years that you can beat to even,

[00:55:20] I don't care where you play Cleveland, you should be able to beat them this year.

[00:55:23] Like, no.

[00:55:24] Yeah.

[00:55:24] That's yeah.

[00:55:25] They're down to a DTR.

[00:55:27] Just look, offense did not look good today.

[00:55:31] And then you got, uh, as you mentioned that next Sunday night, the Falcons and commanders and a big one.

[00:55:37] Um, that one's in Washington.

[00:55:39] Or Jaden Daniels versus Mike Pennix.

[00:55:42] Hey man.

[00:55:43] Uh, it should be fun.

[00:55:44] Um, and then next Monday, uh, one that probably looked a lot better at the beginning of the year, uh, Detroit at San Francisco.

[00:55:52] Um, San Francisco, of course, they're out of playoff race, but they can play a spoiler, maybe, uh, hurt Detroit's home field, you know,

[00:55:59] You never know with the 49ers.

[00:56:01] Yeah.

[00:56:01] But based on the last two weeks, I would say they probably get housed.

[00:56:06] Yeah.

[00:56:06] It's just, there's just so many injuries in that team.

[00:56:09] And you can tell they're kind of, they're just burnt out at this point.

[00:56:13] Yeah, they're over it.

[00:56:14] Um, Detroit's.

[00:56:17] We're getting fun weekend.

[00:56:18] I think Cowboys play the Eagles.

[00:56:21] They do, yeah.

[00:56:22] They play in Philly.

[00:56:23] But I don't know what that really, what that game really means.

[00:56:27] Uh, I guess it could affect Philly's status.

[00:56:30] Yeah, still seeding.

[00:56:32] And Philly technically hasn't wrapped up the division yet.

[00:56:35] So the commanders still have a shot to take the division.

[00:56:39] Uh, none of the NFC divisions actually are.

[00:56:42] Are officially.

[00:56:44] Yeah, no.

[00:56:45] Only three teams have actually clinched playoff spots in Detroit, Philly.

[00:56:49] Very interesting.

[00:56:52] Um, yeah.

[00:56:52] So it's still.

[00:56:54] Uh, as of right now, let's just go through.

[00:56:56] Detroit would have the one seed.

[00:56:57] Uh, uh, uh, Philly would have the two seed.

[00:57:02] The Rams would actually be your three seed.

[00:57:04] Uh, yeah.

[00:57:05] You know, after such a terrible start, they've really come on.

[00:57:09] Tampa Bay would be your four seed.

[00:57:11] They would host Minnesota as your five seed.

[00:57:13] The six seed would be the Packers and seven.

[00:57:15] Yeah, that's funny.

[00:57:16] Minnesota at third.

[00:57:17] At 13 and two is.

[00:57:19] Well, right now.

[00:57:20] We're at 13 and two.

[00:57:21] We have the fifth seed.

[00:57:23] Yeah, that's.

[00:57:24] And then in the AFC.

[00:57:27] Where is that?

[00:57:28] More.

[00:57:28] A little bit more has been decided.

[00:57:30] There we go.

[00:57:30] Yeah, but where's the anger for that?

[00:57:32] You know, these same people that are so angry about, you know, the college football.

[00:57:36] Where's the anger?

[00:57:37] You know what I'm saying?

[00:57:39] No, it is a weird thing.

[00:57:40] Yeah, it's very arbitrary kind of.

[00:57:42] I've always.

[00:57:43] I've never really liked the four team divisions.

[00:57:46] No, I think.

[00:57:47] You know, I've talked about that.

[00:57:47] It should get you in the playoff.

[00:57:49] But, I mean, we could say, you know, there too.

[00:57:52] I mean, just because you won the terrible NFC West.

[00:57:54] I mean, should that get you a bye?

[00:57:56] I don't know if you're anything true.

[00:57:57] But you don't hear a lot of people going crazy about that.

[00:58:00] No, yeah.

[00:58:01] Yeah, I agree.

[00:58:02] Just, yeah.

[00:58:04] I've always said I think they should go to four 18 divisions.

[00:58:09] And the four winners of those get the playoffs.

[00:58:12] And then after that, you just get your next best.

[00:58:14] However many teams you want to do it.

[00:58:17] You know, it's probably, to me, it's only a matter of time before the NFL expands to 16.

[00:58:22] I just don't see them, you know, not doing that at some point.

[00:58:27] Oh, yeah.

[00:58:27] You know, the NFL, you know, they, right now the NFL can make no bad moves.

[00:58:34] They're so popular.

[00:58:35] Like, people love the NFL no matter what they do.

[00:58:40] So, people are going to, I mean, and I get it.

[00:58:44] I mean, it's the most popular sport.

[00:58:45] You know, I have some qualms with the NFL at times just with how they schedule and everything.

[00:58:49] Like, I was kind of upset that they would purposely go head-to-head with the card football for the first year.

[00:58:56] Let them have their Saturday to themselves.

[00:58:59] I mean, especially.

[00:59:01] And not only that, I mean, they put big-time games up against the playoffs.

[00:59:08] I'm like, damn, they didn't even, like, you know, throw them a bone and give them, like, Cleveland and Cincinnati or something.

[00:59:17] No, yeah.

[00:59:18] That's kind of messed up.

[00:59:20] Yeah, I agree.

[00:59:20] That's one of those things, if you know, that we had a commissioner of all sports, a sports czar or whatever, if you will.

[00:59:27] Yeah, that's one of my things.

[00:59:28] Look, NFL, you get Sunday and Monday night.

[00:59:30] That's it.

[00:59:31] Right.

[00:59:50] I don't know.

[01:00:08] Yeah.

[01:00:08] It always sucks the NFL does that.

[01:00:10] But it's fun.

[01:00:12] Getting fun toward the end of the season here.

[01:00:14] Oh, yeah, for sure.

[01:00:15] A lot of good football coming up.

[01:00:17] You know, the end of the season, the final epic run to the playoffs.

[01:00:21] And I will say, no matter what, the NFL has an epic playoff.

[01:00:24] I mean, it doesn't.

[01:00:26] Oh, absolutely.

[01:00:26] Yeah.

[01:00:27] Yeah.

[01:00:27] The wild card round, division rounds.

[01:00:30] They're just epic.

[01:00:32] Sometimes those division rounds are my favorite, even more so than, like, the AFC or NFC championship games.

[01:00:37] Those division matchups are crazy sometimes.

[01:00:40] Oh, yeah.

[01:00:40] We got some epic ones this past year.

[01:00:43] Yeah.

[01:00:43] Sometimes where we get, yeah, a lot of really good games.

[01:00:48] Those wild card games, you know, that's where you see kind of maybe some upsets or you see the blowouts.

[01:00:52] And then you get into the real meat of the playoffs once those division rounds starts.

[01:01:01] Well, yeah, let's move on from the gridiron here.

[01:01:05] I don't have anything else in my notes other, you know, let's see.

[01:01:08] Alabama basketball had a good week.

[01:01:10] Went up to North Dakota.

[01:01:12] A tough win.

[01:01:14] A little scary up there.

[01:01:15] Yeah, a little scary.

[01:01:16] That dude dropped, what, 40 on us?

[01:01:19] 40.

[01:01:20] I can't think of his name right now, but props to that young man because he.

[01:01:24] I'm sure everybody and their moms is probably blowing up his inbox.

[01:01:28] So, hey, bro, you want to.

[01:01:29] Yeah, right.

[01:01:30] You looking to get out of there?

[01:01:31] You got any.

[01:01:32] Yeah.

[01:01:32] Does he have eligibility left?

[01:01:35] No, we might very well.

[01:01:37] We might very well be trying to get our next guy to North Dakota.

[01:01:41] All right.

[01:01:42] And then I turned around on today, actually, Sunday.

[01:01:47] Easy win over Kent State.

[01:01:49] So, good, easy win for them as they head into kind of a winter break there.

[01:01:53] Yeah.

[01:01:55] So, good week.

[01:01:56] Other than that, you know, I really got nothing in my notes.

[01:01:59] What else?

[01:01:59] Anything else in the sports world you want to touch on this week?

[01:02:03] I mean, it was some okay college basketball, but, you know, some okay bowl games.

[01:02:09] Um, but, you know, I mean, I guess the biggest thing was the, you know, college football playoff

[01:02:16] and some big NFL games and, you know, kind of what you expect this time of year, you know,

[01:02:20] football dominant talk.

[01:02:22] You know, whether the playoffs were eventful or not, you know, it was still epic that we

[01:02:28] saw, you know, so many, so many, you know, big games.

[01:02:33] And, you know, there's going to be certain years where everybody that said that yesterday

[01:02:37] sucked.

[01:02:38] But it's going to be certain years where we're going to have two and three good games there.

[01:02:42] So.

[01:02:42] Yeah, exactly.

[01:02:43] Yeah.

[01:02:43] There's going to be, yeah.

[01:02:45] There's going to be years where it's going to hit.

[01:02:47] It's going to be epic.

[01:02:48] And it was still epic that we had four.

[01:02:50] I mean, you got to think, what are we watching most December 20th?

[01:02:55] We're watching like a Las Vegas Bowl.

[01:02:57] A seven and five, you know, BYU.

[01:02:59] And past year has been like a seven five BYU versus what?

[01:03:03] I don't know.

[01:03:04] We've seen like Florida, Florida plays Utah or, you know, some, some games.

[01:03:14] I mean, it's football, but, you know, but I mean, we actually got really decent games in

[01:03:18] the, in the dead period of December.

[01:03:20] You know.

[01:03:21] Exactly.

[01:03:21] Meaningful games too.

[01:03:23] Yeah.

[01:03:23] I can't stress that enough.

[01:03:25] They actually matter toward.

[01:03:27] National title implications.

[01:03:28] Yeah.

[01:03:29] And, and, and think about, you know, for college fans were all about pageantry and tradition.

[01:03:36] Where were those games?

[01:03:37] We had meaningful playoff game at Notre Dame stadium.

[01:03:42] At.

[01:03:43] At Columbus at the horseshoe.

[01:03:45] At the horseshoe at, you know, Penn State.

[01:03:49] At D.K.R.

[01:03:51] At D.K.R.

[01:03:51] At D.K.R.

[01:03:52] Yeah.

[01:03:52] And Austin.

[01:03:53] Four iconic venues in the sport.

[01:03:56] And we had playoff games there.

[01:03:57] Yeah.

[01:03:58] Playoff games there.

[01:03:59] I mean, great atmospheres.

[01:04:01] The crowds really came out.

[01:04:02] I mean, like we had talked about ticket prices weren't super crazy.

[01:04:06] So, regular people got to go watch their favorite teams play.

[01:04:09] I think it was a very successful weekend.

[01:04:12] We didn't, may not have got the games that we were hoping for.

[01:04:14] But, like I said, that's going to happen time and time again in any sport.

[01:04:18] There's blowouts every year in every playoff format you see.

[01:04:22] So.

[01:04:23] Absolutely.

[01:04:23] Yeah.

[01:04:24] So, people need to get over it.

[01:04:26] Quit wine.

[01:04:27] Yeah.

[01:04:27] I mean, it's better than what we've ever had before.

[01:04:30] It'll get approved upon.

[01:04:32] And, you know, it'll get better.

[01:04:34] So.

[01:04:34] Exactly.

[01:04:35] It's the first year.

[01:04:36] If you want to direct your anger at anything, then make it conference realignment.

[01:04:43] If you really want to show the sport, you know, demand that the conference commissioners

[01:04:48] get their heads out their asses, give us back, you know, the Pac-10, the Pac-12.

[01:04:54] Hell, you know, give us back the old Big East, man.

[01:04:57] Come on.

[01:04:58] Back then.

[01:04:59] Let's really get fun with it.

[01:05:01] But, yeah.

[01:05:03] Back then.

[01:05:04] Yeah.

[01:05:04] And you get to.

[01:05:06] You might get some bad.

[01:05:07] You know, you can't complain much about the conference games because everybody plays

[01:05:10] each other or gets closer to playing each other.

[01:05:13] But, yeah.

[01:05:14] Yeah.

[01:05:14] When you have 16, 18 teams in a conference, I mean, you can only do so much.

[01:05:18] So, yeah.

[01:05:18] That's how much you're going to do.

[01:05:20] Yeah.

[01:05:21] So, yeah.

[01:05:22] But, yeah.

[01:05:23] That should do it for us this week.

[01:05:25] A little shorter episode for us there, but good.

[01:05:29] I'm going to say donut real good this week for both of us.

[01:05:32] It's probably the holiday season, right?

[01:05:34] Oh, yeah.

[01:05:34] Christmas time and, you know, good football on TV.

[01:05:38] Great.

[01:05:39] Yeah.

[01:05:39] Great football.

[01:05:40] Christmas time.

[01:05:42] You can't ask for too much more.

[01:05:45] Exactly.

[01:05:46] Yeah.

[01:05:46] So, thanks once again for listening, everybody.

[01:05:49] As always, check out all the podcasts on the Alabama Take family of podcasts.

[01:05:54] Check out thealabamatake.com.

[01:05:57] If you didn't know, Greg, myself, Mallory, and Blaine are still doing the taking bets column

[01:06:02] for all the playoff games.

[01:06:04] I actually did not check how we all ended up doing this week.

[01:06:07] I think I only had one win on the week.

[01:06:09] I think I got the Texas game.

[01:06:11] And everything else, I went closer, you know, I think a lot of us went closer on a lot of

[01:06:16] those games.

[01:06:17] I know Friday night, I was the only one to ride with Notre Dame.

[01:06:21] Yeah.

[01:06:22] So, I got them.

[01:06:23] Let's see.

[01:06:23] Blaine had Indiana.

[01:06:24] That's a no.

[01:06:25] Had SMU.

[01:06:26] That was a no.

[01:06:28] Had Texas.

[01:06:28] That was a yes.

[01:06:30] And then he had the over in Ohio State, Tennessee.

[01:06:33] So, he went two and two.

[01:06:34] Okay.

[01:06:35] I had Notre Dame.

[01:06:36] Yes.

[01:06:37] SMU.

[01:06:37] No.

[01:06:38] Texas.

[01:06:39] Yes.

[01:06:39] Tennessee.

[01:06:40] No.

[01:06:42] Mallory had Indiana.

[01:06:44] Nope.

[01:06:44] Penn State.

[01:06:45] Yes.

[01:06:46] Texas.

[01:06:47] Yes.

[01:06:47] And then Tennessee.

[01:06:48] No.

[01:06:48] So, she went two and two as well.

[01:06:51] I don't know.

[01:06:51] I won one and three.

[01:06:53] SMU.

[01:06:54] No.

[01:06:54] Yep.

[01:06:54] Texas.

[01:06:54] Yes.

[01:06:55] Tennessee.

[01:06:55] No.

[01:06:56] Okay.

[01:06:56] So, yeah.

[01:06:58] So, not the most impressive.

[01:07:01] Yeah.

[01:07:01] No.

[01:07:02] Not the most impressive.

[01:07:04] I think we were playing.

[01:07:05] I think someone were hoping that we were going to get some great games there.

[01:07:10] Mm-hmm.

[01:07:11] Yeah.

[01:07:12] Exactly.

[01:07:12] It may be a little too bullish on the underdogs there.

[01:07:20] But, yeah.

[01:07:20] You live and you learn.

[01:07:22] Yeah.

[01:07:23] Again, looking forward to a great set of games.

[01:07:25] Of course, they won't even start until after our next episode.

[01:07:28] Yeah.

[01:07:28] New Year's.

[01:07:30] Maybe.

[01:07:30] Yeah.

[01:07:31] So, we'll talk about it.

[01:07:33] I assume we'll have stuff to talk about after this week for next Sunday.

[01:07:37] We'll see where we're all at traveling.

[01:07:39] Yeah.

[01:07:40] Yeah.

[01:07:41] I mean, we could preview, of course.

[01:07:42] You know, we'll have our game on the 31st against Michigan.

[01:07:45] Whether they like it or not.

[01:07:47] I mean, I guess, you know, we could kind of do a wrap-up of Alabama's, you know, season

[01:07:51] in general and what, you know, thoughts and everything that way.

[01:07:54] Maybe we can talk some of that.

[01:07:56] Yeah.

[01:07:56] You know, we can just, of course, the NFL, plenty to talk about there.

[01:08:01] You know, transfer portal talk.

[01:08:05] Everything super big happens there.

[01:08:08] You know, there's still a lot of stuff going on there.

[01:08:11] So, I mean, there's plenty going on.

[01:08:13] Maybe not necessarily on, you know, as far as games themselves.

[01:08:17] But, hey, you know, we'll have some bowl games.

[01:08:20] And I think we'll have some content.

[01:08:23] We'll figure it out.

[01:08:24] But, as always, y'all, thanks for listening.

[01:08:46] Exactly.

[01:08:47] Whatever you do.

[01:08:48] Enjoy it and have fun.

[01:08:49] If you're getting a break this week, enjoy it.

[01:08:50] Yep.
