[00:00:15] Here's Pastor Kim Buckman with today's message.

[00:00:18] I want to have you turn to Luke chapter 8.

[00:00:24] Verse 40, Luke chapter 8, verse 40, says this.

[00:00:36] On the other side of the lake, the crowds welcome Jesus because he had been waiting for him.

[00:00:42] Then a man named Jyrus, a leader of the local synagogue came and fell at Jesus' feet,

[00:00:48] pleading with him to come home with him.

[00:00:51] His only daughter who was about 12 year old was dying.

[00:00:55] As Jesus went with him, he was surrounded by the crowds.

[00:00:59] A woman in the crowd had suffered for 12 years with constant bleeding.

[00:01:03] She could find no cure.

[00:01:05] Coming up behind Jesus, she touched the fringe of his robe and immediately the bleeding stopped.

[00:01:12] Who touched me? Jesus asked everyone denied it and Peter said,

[00:01:17] Master, this whole crowd is pressing up against you.

[00:01:20] But Jesus said, someone deliberately touched me for I felt healing power go out from me.

[00:01:25] Then the woman realized that she could not stay hidden and she began to tremble.

[00:01:30] And fell to her knees in front of him, the whole crowd heard her explain why she had touched him

[00:01:37] and that she had been immediately healed.

[00:01:40] The daughter he said to her, your faith has made you well.

[00:01:44] Go in peace.

[00:01:48] Eight years ago, I believe it was seven, eight years ago.

[00:01:51] We had a chance. My wife and I with a small team from harvest time to go to a town called Megdala.

[00:02:01] And Megdala is where this happened.

[00:02:03] And what they were building is either,

[00:02:06] I don't remember if it was a hotel or a retreat center.

[00:02:10] But they started digging out the hotel and retreat center and they discovered a synagogue

[00:02:16] as they were digging. They discovered this synagogue here.

[00:02:19] Let's go to the synagogue, picture first if you can flip to the next one.

[00:02:23] They discovered that with the altar where, and of course, they had quick building to building when you find that.

[00:02:31] And as they explored it, they'll never say 100%.

[00:02:35] Nobody will ever say 100%.

[00:02:37] But they did say this 99.9% chant.

[00:02:40] That's as high as the weather goal.

[00:02:42] This is where Jesus was teaching.

[00:02:45] And when Jay Iris, the leader of the synagogue was probably the leader of this synagogue.

[00:02:51] And he went over to Jesus and said, you've got to touch my daughter.

[00:02:55] So Jesus went with them. Now we can go back to the other picture.

[00:02:58] This is the road. Still there that Jesus walked on.

[00:03:02] This road is no bigger than this sanctuary.

[00:03:05] That's all the longer it is.

[00:03:07] The water was there. If you're watching us online, maybe 200 feet, 200, 300 feet.

[00:03:13] So somewhere on that road.

[00:03:16] And of course, they built a huge church over it.

[00:03:20] And they put that little altar there because they just know that's where she touched them.

[00:03:25] Okay. They know.

[00:03:27] So that's where it happened.

[00:03:28] But somewhere on that road, Jesus was walking and she reached out and touched him and was healed.

[00:03:36] And we're believing God that the war is going to end someday.

[00:03:39] And we're going to go back there and see it all again, right?

[00:03:42] All right. It's going to happen.

[00:03:44] We are supposed to already be there.

[00:03:46] But it is still going to happen.

[00:03:48] Okay. A couple factors in this story, which really deal with us in pursuing belief in God for whatever situation.

[00:03:58] We're going to pray for healing.

[00:04:00] We want to pray for any situation you're going through that really.

[00:04:04] She dealt with that we deal with in our own minds here.

[00:04:09] Mark has the same story and it said she spent all her money on doctors in the situation just got worse.

[00:04:17] How many of ever pursued through prayer doctors?

[00:04:20] And it just spirals out of control.

[00:04:22] And it doesn't seem to be happening.

[00:04:24] And the frustration level that can happen.

[00:04:27] This is a 12 year cycle in her life.

[00:04:31] While she's Jewish and Judaism teaches a couple things,

[00:04:37] and this would be her mindset.

[00:04:39] There were three battles going on in her head with touching him.

[00:04:43] Three battles going on.

[00:04:45] And I know these battles are going on because they teach these things over and over and over every year.

[00:04:51] She would have heard these things in her life over and over and over.

[00:04:55] And they come out of the book of Exodus is where the battles were.

[00:05:00] And one of them, I'll just read you some verses that they aren't going to be behind me but you'll get the idea.

[00:05:05] Exodus 29 says this.

[00:05:08] Okay.

[00:05:09] Purify the altar and consecrate it every day for seven days.

[00:05:13] After that, the altar will be absolutely holy.

[00:05:18] And whatever touches it will become holy.

[00:05:22] Okay?

[00:05:23] So the idea is once the altar is purified, anything that touches the altar is going to become holy.

[00:05:30] Okay?

[00:05:31] So that's a mindset that they know.

[00:05:33] It's repeated in the very next chapter, chapter 30 verse 29 says this.

[00:05:38] Ponsicrate them and make them holy after this.

[00:05:42] Whatever touches them will become holy.

[00:05:45] So the whole idea here in these two chapters,

[00:05:48] God's laying out to Moses.

[00:05:50] You got to consecrate, consecrate just means set something apart.

[00:05:54] That you would set something apart and once something is set apart is holy, whatever touches it will become holy.

[00:06:01] Okay?

[00:06:02] You got the first thought process here.

[00:06:04] In fact, there's a warning with that in Ezekiel.

[00:06:08] He warns him.

[00:06:09] He said be very careful when you go out into the outer court.

[00:06:13] When people, they shall be put off the garments.

[00:06:16] So when they're in there and they wear certain garments in front of that,

[00:06:22] they said make sure you don't go outside because anybody that touches those garments will suddenly become holy.

[00:06:31] And the problem there is what that sounds really good.

[00:06:33] But the problem is if you touch it and you're holy, but you don't live up to that holiness,

[00:06:37] the fire of God fell and they dropped that.

[00:06:40] So he's like, be very careful there.

[00:06:44] So the idea there, the first one is if you touch something that's holy, what happens?

[00:06:49] You become holy.

[00:06:51] Second one.

[00:06:53] If you are unclean, she was unclean.

[00:06:58] She had a bleeding disease.

[00:06:59] You are unclean, leprosy.

[00:07:01] They said if there's infections on your skin, if there's main or anything like that,

[00:07:07] you can't come in because now the opposite happens.

[00:07:10] The first one is anybody that touches the altar will be holy,

[00:07:15] but if you're unclean, look at the Bible says in Leviticus,

[00:07:20] whoever they touch will become unclean.

[00:07:25] Okay, you with me there?

[00:07:29] First off is something set apart for God.

[00:07:34] Anything that touches will become clean unless you're unclean.

[00:07:40] Then anything that person touches becomes unclean.

[00:07:46] So there's that battle.

[00:07:48] Am I unclean?

[00:07:49] If I touch something, if I'm unclean, I'm going to make it unclean.

[00:07:52] But if I'm unclean and I touch it, I'm going to become holy.

[00:07:56] That's the battle.

[00:07:58] Now a third thought process that came is in Malachi,

[00:08:03] where it's talking about when Messiah comes.

[00:08:06] It says, but for you who fear my name, you who fear my name,

[00:08:10] you who have an awe of my name, you who know who I am.

[00:08:15] Look what it says.

[00:08:17] The son of righteousness will rise with healing in his wings

[00:08:25] and you will go free leaping with joy like calfs

[00:08:29] let out of the pasture.

[00:08:34] Anything that touches something that's holy will become holy.

[00:08:38] But if you're unclean and touch something that's holy,

[00:08:41] it becomes unholy.

[00:08:43] And yet with the Messiah comes, they'll be healing in its wings.

[00:08:48] And you will go out leaping in dancing.

[00:08:51] Three thoughts that are in our mind.

[00:08:53] Now when it talks about wings,

[00:08:56] Jesus did not have wings.

[00:08:58] Okay, he did not fly for a...

[00:09:00] They wore something like this.

[00:09:02] All right, a prayer shawl.

[00:09:05] But they had these on them.

[00:09:09] Some of them wear them as belts and they maybe you've seen pictures

[00:09:13] or people like that.

[00:09:14] These are called T-I-Z-I-T.

[00:09:20] Okay?

[00:09:21] Whether Jesus was wearing it like this or if it was a round,

[00:09:28] it wouldn't have been this.

[00:09:29] But a round him like this, these are on everybody that's Jewish.

[00:09:35] And when it says if you touch his wing,

[00:09:38] that's what it's talking about.

[00:09:40] Okay?

[00:09:42] So when it says she touched the hem of his garment,

[00:09:47] this is what she touched.

[00:09:49] All right, with me so far?

[00:09:51] All right, this is in two.

[00:09:52] This is early at Sunday at summer.

[00:09:54] I'm thinking for staying with me so far.

[00:09:57] To leave it or not, we're almost done already.

[00:09:59] Because I want to get to praying.

[00:10:02] She wants healing.

[00:10:04] She tried every single thing besides touching him.

[00:10:06] She went every day.

[00:10:08] She was like, oh, I'm not going to be able to do that.

[00:10:10] She's like, oh, I'm not going to be able to do that.

[00:10:12] Because, I'm not going to be able to do that.

[00:10:17] Besides, you know, touching him.

[00:10:18] She went every direction.

[00:10:20] I was reading a story about the war you crane and they were

[00:10:24] interviewing a Ukrainian soldier.

[00:10:26] And they said, what is carrying you through this battle?

[00:10:30] How do you bet on the front lines?

[00:10:32] And the whole idea of the story was there's not enough soldiers right now

[00:10:35] to relieve you.

[00:10:36] So you're on the front lines all the time.

[00:10:38] I just start praying to God.

[00:10:41] And when they get close, I pray to every other God

[00:10:43] because I want to make sure one of them is listening.

[00:10:45] And also it's like trying anything you can to do something

[00:10:49] that's what she's at.

[00:10:50] There's a desperation, I'll try anything, anything.

[00:10:53] But notice the Bible only promises the healing

[00:10:57] for those who fear God.

[00:10:59] You within' on that?

[00:11:00] Those who fear God.

[00:11:02] So there's this crowd.

[00:11:05] I believe Malachi, if I can touch this,

[00:11:08] they'll be healing.

[00:11:10] Because if you touch something that's holy,

[00:11:12] you will be made holy.

[00:11:17] Okay?

[00:11:19] So he's pushing through the crowd.

[00:11:21] She touches him and she's healed instantly.

[00:11:26] Somehow he felt it.

[00:11:28] I don't know if he was there,

[00:11:29] like the show says or whatever,

[00:11:31] he felt something and turned around and said,

[00:11:33] who touched me?

[00:11:36] Who touched me?

[00:11:39] Okay, the disciples were frustrated there.

[00:11:41] Everybody's touching you.

[00:11:44] And I love this.

[00:11:44] Nobody admitted to touching him.

[00:11:47] I know.

[00:11:48] They're all around enforcing who touched me.

[00:11:50] Not me.

[00:11:50] You're right here.

[00:11:52] Okay, this is a good chance you did.

[00:11:54] But nobody admitted to touching him.

[00:11:58] And then the Bible says,

[00:11:59] she realized she couldn't be hidden anymore

[00:12:03] and she came in front of him trembling.

[00:12:05] Isn't that always confusing?

[00:12:06] Why would you tremble?

[00:12:08] Come in, I mean he just healed you.

[00:12:10] Why would you tremble?

[00:12:11] The reason she was trembling is what did the verse say?

[00:12:13] You are unclean.

[00:12:16] And if I touched something that's holy,

[00:12:17] what did I just do to him?

[00:12:21] Oh man, I just made him unclean.

[00:12:24] What did I just do?

[00:12:27] That's why she was trembling.

[00:12:28] Imagine Jairas.

[00:12:31] He knows all these verses.

[00:12:33] He wanted a holy God to come and touch his daughter

[00:12:38] to heal her.

[00:12:40] And now that holy God was suddenly made on clean.

[00:12:46] And he was frustrated.

[00:12:49] Think of this.

[00:12:50] He's been sick for 12 years.

[00:12:53] My daughter's dying.

[00:12:55] Could we have this conversation in a half hour?

[00:12:59] Seriously, with 12 years and one more hour

[00:13:02] really mean that much when my daughter's dying,

[00:13:07] these thoughts where they really go on through their mind,

[00:13:09] I don't know.

[00:13:09] I always like to put myself in these situations

[00:13:12] that that would have been there.

[00:13:13] I mean at this moment everything changed.

[00:13:18] What how does that apply to us?

[00:13:20] People were gonna pray for healing, deliverance,

[00:13:23] restoration and a house, whatever problem is going on.

[00:13:26] We're gonna believe it.

[00:13:27] But let me tell you,

[00:13:28] well, same battles will happen in your own life.

[00:13:32] It'll be the battle of you're not good enough.

[00:13:36] You're on clean, why would he touch you?

[00:13:39] What makes you think you're good enough to come and touch you?

[00:13:42] Man, you've asked so many times and it's never happened

[00:13:45] and Satan will turn that on you.

[00:13:49] Just get your act together and God will heal you.

[00:13:53] And we do that and we can say if you just have enough faith,

[00:13:57] if you just people, if you hear my heart here,

[00:14:00] Jesus, our faith is not in our faith,

[00:14:02] our faith is in Jesus Christ.

[00:14:05] That if I can just touch the hem of his garment,

[00:14:09] there's healing for those who fear him.

[00:14:12] The layhold of heaven say,

[00:14:13] God here, I am, touch me.

[00:14:15] I need this to happen in my life.

[00:14:19] And the greatest thing about this

[00:14:20] is one swipe of her hand changed everything.

[00:14:24] Didn't it?

[00:14:25] One swipe of her hand.

[00:14:27] When she touched Jesus,

[00:14:29] she was touched in the true holy temple.

[00:14:33] The Bible said he has the Holy Spirit without limit.

[00:14:36] But she was unclean, didn't he make her unclean?

[00:14:38] Oh, let me tell you, people Jesus was the one

[00:14:40] that could touch lepers and not be affected.

[00:14:44] Because there was healing in his wings.

[00:14:46] He was a holy God and anybody he touched went with that.

[00:14:49] And it was that lay and hold of the power of Jesus Christ

[00:14:53] that made her unclean.

[00:14:53] I found this quote,

[00:14:54] the good news is that Jesus is still the business

[00:14:58] of making desperately hopeless and broken people clean.

[00:15:03] You only need to touch him.

[00:15:06] For now, we don't lay hands,

[00:15:09] having contagious,

[00:15:11] holy Christ walking with wings.

[00:15:13] We don't do that today, do we?

[00:15:16] With our physical hands,

[00:15:18] because Jesus is ascended into heaven,

[00:15:20] let me finish the quote.

[00:15:21] But while we're waiting for him to return,

[00:15:23] utterly to the earth and they're at the end of the age,

[00:15:26] we can truly touch Jesus with the hand of faith.

[00:15:30] We can touch Him today.

[00:15:34] It's amazing to me.

[00:15:38] They Jesus turned and said,

[00:15:40] who touched me?

[00:15:41] And everybody's touching you.

[00:15:44] What do you even say?

[00:15:46] But only one touched him and was healed.

[00:15:50] We can touch Him but how many know there's a touch of faith.

[00:15:53] God, here I am.

[00:15:55] Here I am.

[00:15:58] Sometimes maybe we have to be like the man

[00:16:01] with the little boy that had that epileptic seizures.

[00:16:08] And he said, if you can heal him Jesus,

[00:16:10] so what did Jesus say to him?

[00:16:11] If!

[00:16:12] And the man said,

[00:16:13] God, I believe help my own belief.
