It’s not standard podcast! Taking It Down, one of the best pop culture podcasts in production, begins with grief this week and mourn the loss of the Alabama music legend D.C. Moon (1:34). We hope that all find solace in his music that he left for all to hear.
The three then talk about the Super Bowl and college football, which was crazy with news, particularly in Auburn, Alabama (2:23). In a quick version of “The Lord’s Coming Back Real Soon,” they discuss commercials (6:43). From there, it’s new music, which may have us returning back to Big Thief’s album next week (7:31).
Adam is finally caught up on Euphoria, which means that Blaine and Adam try to praise the fifth episode as much as possible since it earned it (11:17).
After the break, it’s talk about the Oscar nominees this year and how lackluster it all seems (24:09). One contender for Best Picture is Nightmare Alley, which is now streaming on HBO Max, so the guys discuss it in depth (27:49). Lastly, The Book of Boba Fett wraps its wild, uneven season and Donovan and Blaine look back on that final episode (46:20).
