Once Week Three arrives, everyone's settled in. Families have their schedules. Leaves start to fall. Games begin to show who may be better than whom. But it's up to our bettors to tell you who's worth the cash.

Early season is when I make my bucks, and then I lose it all later. Something's off. Is this a weird season? It's at least different.
Auburn at Oklahoma (6.5) - Were this in Jordan Hare, I would switch my pick. But with the Tigers on the road, and the Sooners coming off two confident wins against Temple and and Michigan, I'll take the Sooners at home by a touchdown.
Florida at Miami (-8.5) - Those eight points. They almost get me. Florida may be on a downslide (once again), because D.J. is throwing pick after pick last weekend. If they don't get it together, this may well be Bill Napier's last ride as a Gator coach. Miami's confidence with Carson Beck is much higher. Plus, they took on the pesky South Florida ankle biters and managed to make that wildman coach chill the fuck out. I'm with the Hurricanes.
Oregon State (+34.5) at Oregon - This lovely Civil War rivalry continues despite teams being in separate conferences. Still, the Beavers would love to beat the Ducks. They won't, not this time, but they'll keep it a little closer than thirty-four points.
NFL Game of the Week
Cardinals at 49ers (-2.5) - San Fransisco seem to be playing well enough to get a three-point win at home against Arizona, who are also doing well, but they now have to face the 49ers on the road. It's enough for me to bet.

Oh, look, another 2-2 week. At least I don’t have Greg’s luck this season (yet). We start to get into the real meat of the season this week, with more conference games kicking off, and the true identities of teams being revealed.
Arkansas at Memphis (+7.5) – I had to double check this line because I didn’t believe it at first glance. I know Arky is the big, bad SEC team and all, but Memphis is in the running for best G5 team this season, and not only do I think they can cover, I think they have a solid shot at outright winning this game.
Purdue at Notre Dame (-25.5) – I like the Fighting Irish to take out all of their frustrations from the first two games on the poor Boilermakers. My preseason prediction of a Notre Dame national title is on thin ice, but I still believe there’s a really good team in South Bend, and freshman QB C.J. Carr will only get better as the season goes along. They just need to remember that Jeremiyah Love is their tailback.
Michigan State at USC (-18.5) – The Trojans are the top ranked offense so far this season, and the Spartans defense is one of the absolute worst in the country at stopping the pass. Add to that the fact they have to travel out to the west coast and play a game that starts at 11 pm in their native eastern time zone… yeah, I like USC big in this one.
NFL Game of the Week
Cardinals at 49ers (-2.5) – Going with San Francisco for a second straight week, because I’m not fully sold on the Cardinals and I believe in the Mac Jones reclamation project.
Mallory McCormack host of The Staredown
Where do we even start? Back up QBs, turf toe, and Notre Dame 0-2…oh my! But seriously, isn’t this why we love football? The chaos never ends. And since we’re all mad here...
Auburn at Oklahoma (-6.5) - Jackson Arnold returns to Norman. And we all know Freezus liked to play upset with a QB like him. But I don’t think it happens. Oklahoma will be rocking.
Northern Illinois at Mississippi State (-21.5) - It’s no surprise that I am not a fan of the Bulldogs from Starkville, but I love old English bulldogs. This game makes me happy because Northern Illinois has a Saluki as a mascot. So it’s the cute pupper bowl!! Unfortunately the Salukis don’t have the defense to stop the Lebby offense that seems to be clicking.
Arkansas (-7) at Memphis - Now that Arkansas has left Oxford, I can pick them to win again. Their receiving corps is deep and they’ll hang some points on Memphis.
NFL Game of the Week
Dallas at Chicago (+1) - If it took the Cowboys OT and a last second miracle kick to beat the Giants (don’t even get me started on the first drive and 4. Freaking. Penalties!!!!), then I don’t know that going to Soldier Field results in a dub for the Boys.

Geez this has been rough -- nothing is working for me as of yet, but it has to turn around, right? Welp, back to the grind and winning starts this week.
Arkansas at Memphis + 7 - This is a tough game for the Hogs coming off a game against Ole Miss they could have easily won. Not necessarily a rivalry game, but close enough in proximity that there will be a little juice. The Tigers would love to use a game against the SEC to bolster their playoff profile. This should be a fun one and I expect it to come down to the end.
SMU at TCU (OVER: 62.5) - The final game for the foreseeable future of the Iron Skillet game and we should end with a blockbuster between these two high octane offenses. The TCU defense does look improved so far in 2025, but I expect both teams to light up the scoreboard and leave fans a fond memory to look back on as this rivalry goes away.
Tulane (+12.5) at Ole Miss - Tulane has already dominated a Big 10 and ACC team so the possibility to add an SEC team to that list would do wonders for their playoff resume. Obviously the Rebels are a far different beast than their previous two Power Four wins, no matter which QB plays. Ole Miss obviously has a terrific offense so can the Green Wave slow them down at all? I think Tulane does enough to keep it interesting and cover the spread.
NFL Game of the Week
Cowboys (-1) at Bears - Going back to the well again with Dallas and again feel good about this. Playing against Caleb Williams should give this defense some confidence and it’ll be interesting to see what role Jadeveon Clowney plays if at all Sunday afternoon. Like most Cowboys games there will be the usual late game drama
Note: All games are against the spread. Odds are taken from MGM Grand Sportsbook.
