Takin' on 'The Challenge': Countdown to Chaos

Season 39 of The Alabama Take's favorite thing -- next to college football -- is here! This season is all about finding a first-time Challenge champ. Every week, devotees to The Challenge answer questions. Spoiler warning ahead!

This week, the cast entered the "Chaos" level of this season's game -- T.J. was very excited to enter this phase of the season. Essentially, the game format is now very similar to Free Agents: the daily challenge will be random in its nature, putting players in teams, pairs, or individual competition. This week's winning pair, Corey and Ravyn, had to choose one male for elimination, and they chose Asaf. He was quite unhappy about the whole situation. The house then voted in Ciarran, but at elimination T.J. introduced Jordan, who drew Ciarran's name. The four-time champ knocked Ciarran out of the game, and was rewarded with $10k of the final pot for his work.

Question 1: About how sick would that daily challenge make you, if you had to do it this weekend?

TD: Twenty-something me would've loved it, for sure. Now? I shudder at how the next day would be. I'm not sure my equilibrium would recover.

Question 2: Asaf was apoplectic about Corey sending him into elimination. How does his reaction influence your thoughts on his chances in the game?

TD: It was, of course, a massive overreaction. Even though he was given a reprieve when Jordan pulled Ciarran's name, I don't like Asaf's outlook in the long run. You have to keep your emotions in check and not let them dictate your game. He'll want revenge on Corey, which is fair, but he can't let that goal hinder the goal of winning the final.

Question 3: Jordan gave us a vintage Jordan performance in the elimination, complete with his signature arrogance. Do you like how this new format has been executed thus far?

TD: I do like the random daily format. It keeps players on their toes and puts some stress on alliances, causing players to really start playing the game with the intent of making the final. I'm not 100% behind The Draw returning in this particular way, but I am insanely intrigued as to what that third option could be.
