Taking Bets | A Moveable Feast of Lines | Week Nine

2025 Record

For Week Nine, the bettors face a lot of options that may sound good on paper, but may be hard to digest at the end of the fourth.

There are so many tantalizing lines this week that I had to stop myself from scrolling them all and pick three, plus an NFL game. Here are some I didn’t take – which some of my comrades do think differently about below: Oklahoma (-5.5), South Florida (-2), Texas (-7), and the Commanders (+12.5).

UCLA (+24.5) at Indiana - I’m rolling the dice again here by going against Indiana, but it paid off last weekend. UCLA has found life in the last few weeks, and the line seems high enough for them to beat the spread. I’m not crazy about travel times, which I often take into account to no avail.

Auburn at Arkansas (-2.5) - Another team with a fired coach who may be playing a little better without him is Arkansas. If this was in Jordan Hare, I’d go the other route. Go Hawgs.

Baylor at Cincinnati (-3.5) - I’m not sure what Vegas sees in Baylor that I don’t, but I think the Bearcats at home get more than a touchdown win against them.

NFL Game of the Week
Cowboys at Broncos (-3.5) - With the help of my terrible memory, I don’t recall the Cowboys ever having a lot of luck in the Mile High City, but John Elway used to be the quarterback there.

Well, damn, I’m back in the red. Feeling confident this week, however. I really like these matchups. Should make for a solid day of ball watching, too.

SMU (-3) at Wake Forest – The Deacs are frisky, but the Mustangs are good. SMU has yet to lose a regular season ACC game, and I don’t see them starting this weekend, even with Miami coming to Dallas next Saturday.

Appalachian State at Old Dominion (Over 61.5) – Some Fun Belt action, baby! Both of these teams will get into a “defense optional” game in a heartbeat. They’re also both coming off of blowout losses, so I like both teams to be aggressive in an effort to not lose back-to-back games.

Texas at Mississippi State (+7) – Well, Mal’s Rebels let me down this week, so it’s time to give her hated rivals a chance. State has been so close to breaking their SEC losing streak, that win has to be coming any game now. The Longhorns probably should’ve lost in Lexington last weekend, so maybe they’re the ones to finally fall to the Bulldogs. Either way, I like Clanga to keep it close at home.

NFL Game of the Week
Commanders at Chiefs (-12.5) – It looks like the Chiefs are The Chiefs again. Washington will be without Jayden Daniels, while Kansas City is primed to show off in primetime.

As TD points out, my Rebs didn’t have a great 4th quarter leading to my first sad day of the weekend. Then my Giants went and did the same thing on Sunday leading to my second sad day. However it’s a new week and I’m checking off state thirty eight here in Oklahoma!  But before I put on my rain gear and warm up my vocal chords to cheer on my Rebs, let’s look at some lines.

Auburn at Arkansas (-3) - The Hogs have been so close, and Auburn and Freezus are feeling the heat. I like the Hogs in this one. WPS!

Missouri at Vandy (OVER 52.5) - I don’t usually like taking overs, but I think with GameDay being in Nashville both offenses show up hot.

Texas A&M (-2.5) at LSU - look I don’t like the cult that is A&M, but a clash of the weirdest fans and the loudest/drunkest/crudest fans at night in Death Valley? There may be more fireworks in the stands than on the field.

NFL Game of the Week
Niners (+2.5) at Texans - Even with all of the injuries the Niners keep winning. And I don’t think it stops.

Greg Bosworth
It was a long road to nine wins and this is the week at least three picks hit.

South Florida at Memphis (+6) - This is a huge game with both American and playoff implications. Memphis obviously was looking ahead to this game last week so they will be extra ready for Saturdays game. Wouldn’t be shocked if the Bulls pull off the huge road win but I expect a classic close game.

Wisconsin at Oregon (-31.5) - The Badgers are historically bad and this one will get ugly early. We might very well see the end of the Luke Fickell era in Madison after the Ducks embarrass the Badgers. Oregon will be on a tear for the rest of the season after that rare home less to Indiana.

Northwestern (+7.5) at Nebraska- The Huskers return home after a very disappointing road game that still leaves the validity of their program up in the air when it comes to being a true playoff contender. We saw Nebraska have issues reaching bowl eligibility a year ago, so if they get to six wins Saturday, it will be tough. The Wildcats have already overachieved and generally play the Huskers close. Someone is going to become bowl eligible Saturday in Lincoln but expect late game drama.

NFL Game of the Week
Giants at Eagles (-7.5) - Philly is looking for revenge after getting embarrassed just two weeks ago. It’ll be interesting to see how the G-Men respond after their ridiculous collapse last Sunday. Expect Philly to dominate and get sweet revenge over their feisty division rivals.

Note: All games are against the spread. Odds are taken from MGM Grand Sportsbook
