2025 Record
Blaine Duncan: 10-9 (Week Five: 3-1)
TD Wood: 9-10 (Week Five: 2-2)
Mallory McCormack: 9-10 (Week Five: 1-3)
Greg Bosworth: 4-15 (Week Five: 1-3)
In the midst of conference play, no clear standouts have emerged. It makes the bets that much more fun.
Blaine Duncan
There ain’t no party like a Vanderbilt party because the Vanderbilt family was an extremely wealthy family and Jay Gatsby ain’t got nothing on their monies!
Friday Night Special! Western Kentucky at Delaware (-2.5) - I didn’t even know Delaware had a football team! I do know one thing about these Fightin’ Bidens: they’re hot. So, listen Jack, a field goal victory is all they need.
Iowa State (+1.5) at Cincinnati - I’ve always liked to bet on a Matt Campbell-led Cyclones team. He seems to have them ready for any game: even if they lose, it wasn’t from bad coaching. They have one more game under their belt than the Bearcats, too, and that experience should keep them undefeated for now.
Penn State at UCLA (OVER: 48.5) - Bet the over on the West Coast! Things just aren’t working out for Nico Iamaleava, the poster boy for NIL now. Such a shame. I don’t know that the Nittany Lions get a twenty-five point win over the winless Bruins, but I do believe that forty-nine points looks low between the two.
NFL Game of the Week
Broncos at Eagles (-3.5) - My NFL picks have been shots in the dark this year, but I like Jalen and the gang to get at least four or five points over the Bo Pix Broncos at home.
TD Wood
Oh, look, another 2-2 week. Again, could be worse, but man I feel like if I get over this hump I’ll get on a roll. A few compelling games this weekend, as the calendar turns to October.
Kentucky at Georgia (-20.5) – Poor Kentucky. Someone has to be Georgia’s punching bag after yet another loss to Alabama, and they happen to be the sacrificial lamb on the schedule. UGA might not even pass once. Just runs up the gut all game long.
Iowa State (+1.5) at Cincinnati – I know the Big 12 is the wild west, but the Cyclones are rolling and I don’t understand them being the dog here. Not saying the Bearcats can’t win, but I think Iowa State is having a special season.
Washington at Maryland (+6.5) – Taking a big risk going with the Terps outside of September, but they’ve been playing really well and the cross-country trip is always tough. The Huskies weren’t very competitive against Ohio State last week, and while I expect a better effort this week, I think Maryland keeps it close with sensational freshman QB Malik Washington.
NFL Game of the Week
Cowboys (-2.5) at Jets – Dallas was a second away from getting the win over Green Bay last weekend (how does their home clock operator not run that clock down?), and I like them to beat the lowly Jets fairly easily here.
Mallory McCormack
I may have gone 1-3 last weekend, but my Rebels and Giants went 2-0. Some interesting losses last weekend. We’ll see if Bama can avenge the Vandy loss of last year, is this Napier’s last game, and well, that’s about where the intriguing games win. But it’s college football, so of course, what insanity will happen? I think I might know.
Illinois (-9.5) at Purdue - I believe in Luke Altmyer. That is all.
Clemson at North Carolina (Under 46.5) - I have no idea what to expect out of this game but it’s probably gonna be not pretty. But I’m gonna take the line that the Jordan Hudson’s outfit will have at least one animal print (probably Tiger) and some sparkles.
Texas (-5.5) at Florida - Look, Arch hasn’t looked great. Texas hasn’t hit their stride at all yet. We’ve seen glimpses, and I just don’t think this Florida team is ready to save Napier’s job. Again.
NFL Game of the Week
Broncos at Eagles (-3.5) - I think AJ’s displeasure will be put to the test but he and Jalen will be hitting their stride this week (I hope).
Greg Bosworth
Welp, if you want to win some money this weekend, just go the exact opposite and I’m sure you’ll cash out. 🙄😂💰
Miami at Florida St (OVER 54.5) - We’ve seen both Miami and Florida State put up numbers this year. We saw Florida State’s defense have issues last weekend against Virginia, so I expect the Canes to put up points. The Noles have consistently put up numbers in Gus Malzahn’s offense, so 55 points seems like a breeze to hit.
Minnesota at Ohio St (-23.5) - The Gopher’s 3-1 record seems a little fraudulent right now. The Buckeyes at home in a rare prime time slot for them makes me feel confident they are going to go up and down the field at will. Ohio State’s defense is elite and outside of a garbage touchdown I wouldn’t expect much scoring from Minnesota. This week’s NBC game won’t be anything like what we got last Saturday night.
Vanderbilt (+ 11.5) at Alabama- The Tide are looking to get a little revenge on the Commodores, but it isn’t going to be easy. Vandy loves running the ball, putting up over 220 a week ago, and this Alabama defense has struggled against the run all season. I expect Alabama to make enough stops to get the revenge win, but twelve seems like a large number for them to win by based on what I’ve seen from both teams this year.
NFL Game of the Week=
Cowboys at Jets (OVER 47.5) - Both offenses can put up numbers, and the Dallas defense makes every QB look like an all pro for a week. Forty-eight points seems very obtainable meaning expect a defensive slobber knocker.
Note: All games are against the spread. Odds are taken from MGM Grand Sportsbook.
