In which 3 buttholes discuss Episode 2 - "Attack of the Clones".

[00:00:00] Hello there, my name is Corey and I am a Star War.

[00:00:08] And my name is Corey and I am a Star War.

[00:00:10] And my name is Jim and I am a Star War.

[00:00:13] And we are a Star War.

[00:00:18] That was pretty good.

[00:00:19] We're just winging it every time.

[00:00:21] You know, we'll make it work.

[00:00:22] Alright, Brown Leader.

[00:00:23] That's the worst one we've ever done.

[00:00:25] Brown Leader.

[00:00:26] Brown Leader checking in.

[00:00:30] Today is Attack of the Clones Day.

[00:00:33] Episode 2.

[00:00:34] Episode 2.

[00:00:35] Episode 2.

[00:00:36] Corey's going to take the lead on this one because he has all the notes and he made all

[00:00:41] the notes.

[00:00:42] These were his, this was, this and his and was his idea.

[00:00:46] Preparations.

[00:00:47] Preparations.

[00:00:48] Preparation.

[00:00:49] And before we get started, I just want to say that I was supposed to take notes

[00:00:52] based on the things that Corey wants to discuss and I didn't because I got so wrapped up in

[00:00:58] the movie because it had been a while since I had seen it.

[00:01:01] And so I was like, I can either.

[00:01:05] So I thought I could either stop myself and make notes as I was going or just enjoy

[00:01:10] the movie.

[00:01:11] And I rather enjoyed the movie.

[00:01:13] I'm gonna, I want to jump in and just say I liked this movie a lot more than I thought

[00:01:19] I did.

[00:01:20] Yeah.

[00:01:21] So with that, let's, let's jump into it.

[00:01:23] Yeah.

[00:01:24] Found a lot that I like.

[00:01:25] I don't, I wouldn't say I like the movie, but I found a lot of things that I like in

[00:01:29] the movie.

[00:01:30] So we're not discussing it as cinema.

[00:01:33] We're just discussing it as.

[00:01:35] That's right.

[00:01:36] Yeah.

[00:01:37] So Star Wars Episode 2 Attack of the Clones released on May 16th, 2002.

[00:01:41] Halfway between my birthday and Jim's birthday.

[00:01:44] Yeah.

[00:01:45] And that's about three years after episode one came out.

[00:01:48] Yep.

[00:01:49] 20 years ago.

[00:01:50] And now where this movie comes out and we're all kind of like, oh, little, maybe that first

[00:01:55] one wasn't so great.

[00:01:56] But I mean, this one will be better.

[00:01:57] This one will be better.

[00:01:58] This one will be better.

[00:01:59] Anakin's a grown up now.

[00:02:00] He can fight.

[00:02:01] He's got a sword.

[00:02:02] Right.

[00:02:03] Anyway, written by George Lucas and Jonathan Hales, which the only thing I found on

[00:02:08] that guy was he also wrote some Chronicles of Young.

[00:02:13] Indiana Jones.

[00:02:15] Indiana Jones TV show.

[00:02:17] So he's worked with Lucas before.

[00:02:19] The first on this movie was $115 million.

[00:02:22] The box office was $653.8 million.

[00:02:26] I think we would call that a flop today.

[00:02:28] Back then it was good.

[00:02:30] Yeah.

[00:02:32] It was released on DVD.

[00:02:33] This is funny on November 12th, 2002.

[00:02:36] And it sold 4 million copies of the DVD on the first day.

[00:02:40] I'm pretty sure I bought one of them.

[00:02:43] Yeah.

[00:02:44] We were all about the physical media in 2002.

[00:02:46] Of course.

[00:02:47] Yes.

[00:02:49] Oscars, it was only nominated for one Best Visual Effects, which it lost to Lord of the

[00:02:57] Ring, the Two Towers.

[00:02:58] I mean, I don't argue with that.

[00:03:03] No.

[00:03:04] Let's see what else.

[00:03:06] Natalie Portman did win a Teen Choice Award.

[00:03:09] Good for her.

[00:03:10] So, you know.

[00:03:11] She had some of the heaviest lifting in this movie.

[00:03:13] It's not all bad news.

[00:03:14] Yeah.

[00:03:15] She had to fall in love with a genocidal maniac.

[00:03:18] And sell that to us.

[00:03:20] It was just like, hey, I just, I wiped out a village and she's like, you want a spoon?

[00:03:26] That's what happened in this movie.

[00:03:32] What else?

[00:03:33] This happens 10 years after Phantom Menace, chronologically, like in the story, I mean.

[00:03:39] It's been 10 years since we saw a little baby Anakin at Qui-Gon's funeral.

[00:03:44] Yeah.

[00:03:46] And in this movie, we visit lots of planets.

[00:03:50] We go to Naboo.

[00:03:51] We go to Coruscant.

[00:03:52] We go to something I can't read.

[00:03:55] Tatooine, Geonosis, Kamino.

[00:03:57] I think that's all of them.

[00:04:01] That's a lot.

[00:04:02] It's close, yeah.

[00:04:03] It's a lot.

[00:04:04] Yeah, the first movie only had two planets in it.

[00:04:06] Naboo and Coruscant.

[00:04:07] That's right.

[00:04:08] That's right.

[00:04:09] So we're expanding.

[00:04:12] That's all the facts.

[00:04:14] That's the facts.

[00:04:15] So feelings.

[00:04:17] Just open up the floor here.

[00:04:18] How do we feel about this movie?

[00:04:19] Cori?

[00:04:20] Watching it.

[00:04:21] How do we feel about it when it came out?

[00:04:23] Where does it fit in your personal ranking?

[00:04:25] Yeah, I mean, as I said a minute ago, like I have been quite a while since I had actually

[00:04:31] sat down and seen the whole thing.

[00:04:33] So I caught myself being wrapped up in it.

[00:04:37] Maybe it's just because I hadn't seen it in a while, but things that it didn't

[00:04:41] feel like it dragged as much as it did the last time I saw it.

[00:04:46] You know, there were just slog moments in Phantom Menace.

[00:04:49] Mentis.

[00:04:51] Sorry.

[00:04:52] Thank you.

[00:04:53] Welcome.

[00:04:55] But I don't think that any of those really stood out in this one like they did in

[00:05:00] Mentis.

[00:05:01] It moved pretty well.

[00:05:02] I thought, you know, I mean, there were some things I would change about it.

[00:05:05] Like, I don't know, some of the dialogue.

[00:05:09] And we've discussed his Hayden's acting before, but that's not his fault.

[00:05:13] You know, you can blame that solely on the director.

[00:05:16] We know the man can act.

[00:05:18] We've seen him do it.

[00:05:20] You know, and at the time he was a kid, you know, or a young man, very young man.

[00:05:27] So it's not it's not his fault.

[00:05:30] I mean, there were some other times in the movie when he was actually good,

[00:05:33] but there were quite a few moments where he felt stilted.

[00:05:37] He just had nothing to work with dialogue.

[00:05:39] Right. I hate.

[00:05:40] Not his fault.

[00:05:43] Yeah, I mean, what I don't remember how I felt about it at the release, I'm sure.

[00:05:48] I'm sure I enjoyed it.

[00:05:50] Obviously, at that point, we had a little while of time with the Mentis like you

[00:05:55] discussed and we were probably thinking this one's got to be better.

[00:05:58] Well, I feel like when Mentis came out, I feel like I went and saw it in

[00:06:03] the theater three times.

[00:06:05] I think I think I only saw this once in the theater.

[00:06:09] I think I did twice.

[00:06:11] I think I saw it twice.

[00:06:12] I think it might be like the leak, the one I've rewatched the least of all.

[00:06:16] It is definitely the one that I've rewatched the least and and

[00:06:20] like actually sitting down and watching it from beginning to end because I

[00:06:24] would always skip the parts that I really didn't like.

[00:06:27] Yeah.

[00:06:28] I think that this is the first time.

[00:06:30] I can't remember the last time I watched this movie like from beginning to end.

[00:06:33] I think I watched it in COVID times.

[00:06:37] When I watched everything, I still would have skipped it.

[00:06:40] Skip the parts.

[00:06:41] It occurred to me rewatching it that like the

[00:06:45] obviously, you know, before this we had the original trilogy and now he's

[00:06:48] putting out his prequel trilogy and I feel like he knew that there's going

[00:06:53] to be a parallel to like the second one was Empire, which I'm

[00:06:57] beloved. People think that might be the best one ever.

[00:07:00] Then maybe it is, but I feel like going into this one, he was like, OK,

[00:07:04] I got to do my empire of this saga so it can't really end on like a big

[00:07:09] bravado like triumphant moment.

[00:07:12] He's got the he's got people separated from most of the movie.

[00:07:16] So Obi-Wan's off on his thing while Anakin is with Padme protecting Padme.

[00:07:22] Somebody lost a limb.

[00:07:24] Yes, somebody gets their hand cut off.

[00:07:26] Yeah, so like a lot of parallels in there.

[00:07:28] The final shot is the same framing as Luke and Leia looking out at the star system.

[00:07:35] The droids off to the right.

[00:07:36] It's Padme and Anakin with the droids off to the right.

[00:07:39] It's the same shot. Yeah.

[00:07:41] Yeah. So lots of parallels there.

[00:07:43] Is this as good as Empire Strikes Back?

[00:07:47] No, no, it falls short a little bit, a little bit.

[00:07:52] To me, one of the issues I have because it's 10 years after the first one,

[00:07:56] I feel like it kind of like already makes the first one irrelevant.

[00:08:02] Like you're watching the movie and you're like, oh, who's Dooku?

[00:08:04] OK, there's no mall.

[00:08:06] OK, there's no like everything that got set up in there.

[00:08:09] Like now we're re-learning a whole new thing.

[00:08:11] Like if Dooku was around and he was ordering,

[00:08:14] he was off doing Sidious's work 10 years ago.

[00:08:18] Why wasn't that in the first movie?

[00:08:21] Why didn't we know anything about these people?

[00:08:24] So it's one of those.

[00:08:25] Dooku, Dooku, Dooku, Doodoo feels to me like he's kind of like disposable.

[00:08:32] Like, yeah, well, we're not putting a bunch into this.

[00:08:35] And he kind of is because he's pretty much thrown away very quickly in the

[00:08:39] beginning of the third movie, right?

[00:08:41] But he does have a lot of weight and power in the Clone Wars animated series.

[00:08:46] So, you know, that's another example of them retconning a movie and making it better

[00:08:52] after the fact with one of the TV shows.

[00:08:54] Right.

[00:08:55] And one of the things that I paid attention to a lot was and it was a thing

[00:08:58] I'd noticed I'd seen people breaking it down on TikTok or whatever.

[00:09:02] But is when he has Obi-Wan captive and he's in that little spinning circle.

[00:09:09] And he's just basically telling him the truth about the Jedi.

[00:09:12] It's like and Obi-Wan's like, no, he lays everything out.

[00:09:16] He's like, there's a Sith in charge.

[00:09:17] Yeah. And he's like, come on.

[00:09:19] Yeah, we would know.

[00:09:21] Quit playing, quit playing Doodoo.

[00:09:24] But yeah, looking at that now because like,

[00:09:27] you know, it never really had that much gravity to me before.

[00:09:32] But now it's like, OK, yeah, he's just a fucking blind to it.

[00:09:35] Mm hmm. Yeah.

[00:09:36] The only Jedi where there's a thing

[00:09:38] that I think I've talked about on here before where I'm always grappling

[00:09:42] with, did George Lucas write these three movies to show us how dumb the Jedi were?

[00:09:48] Or did he write him thinking like, I'm just going to do a good story.

[00:09:51] And then we all were like, God,

[00:09:53] the Jedi come off kind of dumb in this because this opens with the entire Jedi

[00:09:57] council sitting in Palpatine's office like they're all like they all had to go

[00:10:04] and hang out with them and they're all sitting in a row talking to him.

[00:10:08] And and like you see Yoda look at him and say and he says, like, well,

[00:10:12] the dark side's got got us pretty cloudy.

[00:10:14] We can't really tell what's going on.

[00:10:15] He's talking to Darth Sidious when he's saying that and you're like, wow.

[00:10:20] Palpatine is like, well, I'll be good to hell.

[00:10:21] Yeah. I wonder how that happened.

[00:10:23] He's sitting there. He's like, man, this is really working.

[00:10:25] You guys can't.

[00:10:26] Oh, did I just shoot some lightning?

[00:10:28] I don't know where that came from. That's not me.

[00:10:29] I don't think that he's doing anything.

[00:10:31] I don't think he's using any Sith magic to make that happen.

[00:10:35] I think the Jedi's were so hung up on themselves and so sure of themselves.

[00:10:42] That was it. Right.

[00:10:43] Right. He just snuck in through the side hatch and had a plan.

[00:10:47] Yeah, somehow. Oh, wait, that's later.

[00:10:50] That's a different movie.

[00:10:52] That's a different movie.

[00:10:54] Corey, what are you eating over there?

[00:10:55] I'm eating these nuts.

[00:10:57] We're having we have Christmas party going on while we record today.

[00:11:00] We have presents and snacks and treats and puppies and bourbon and beers

[00:11:06] and these nuts on the table and some nuts, some these nuts.

[00:11:10] All right. And also for Christmas this year,

[00:11:13] one of the quarries and both of the gyms got dogs.

[00:11:17] So there's only one check our Instagram feed for pictures later.

[00:11:22] Fresh pops.

[00:11:24] So I want to I had a note here.

[00:11:27] I got no logical order to my notes here, but because you mentioned the sand line,

[00:11:31] I made a note that I said the cringe moments in this movie

[00:11:37] weren't as bad as I remembered them.

[00:11:40] They're still cringy, but they weren't as bad.

[00:11:43] Yeah. And and I'm giving Annika a little bit of grace.

[00:11:47] The sand line specifically to me is fine if you think about it coming from a

[00:11:52] teenager who is my note here says clearly has snakes in the brain.

[00:11:59] I mean, think about him being so powerful with the force.

[00:12:03] Right. Right.

[00:12:04] And imagine that that's like, I don't know, going through puberty or something.

[00:12:10] Right. Like you've he's got no control over all of that.

[00:12:14] He's it makes sense.

[00:12:17] You know, he's trying to relate to this person.

[00:12:19] He's not, I don't know.

[00:12:20] He just he's I'm not trying to make it a good line.

[00:12:24] It's not a good line.

[00:12:25] I just had a little more patience for him this go around when I think about

[00:12:30] a teenager who doesn't know anything but thinks they know everything.

[00:12:36] Right. Which is most.

[00:12:38] And so when I watched this, I didn't have a teenager and now, you know,

[00:12:41] my son has grown up and so I've seen James like that.

[00:12:47] And I'm sure I've been like that.

[00:12:49] And so I saw that a little differently this time.

[00:12:52] It's still cringy.

[00:12:53] It's just to me it wasn't as bad as I remembered it being to me.

[00:12:56] It just felt like like every scene, they were like, we have to throw in

[00:13:00] here how angsty and mad he is.

[00:13:02] We have to because we have to show that he's going to be Vader.

[00:13:05] And so like it feels like at the drop of a hat, he's like talking to somebody.

[00:13:09] He's like, Padme, I haven't seen you in 10 years.

[00:13:12] You're beautiful.

[00:13:13] I'm in love with you.

[00:13:14] That motherfucker Obi-Wan will not let me do what I want.

[00:13:18] He I'm smarter than him and I'm better than him.

[00:13:21] And I'm like, whoa, why did you flip out and start yelling

[00:13:24] about your mentor to your girlfriend that you haven't talked to in 10 years?

[00:13:28] Like I also really.

[00:13:29] I did like the way that they

[00:13:32] they call him out publicly often in the first act of the movie.

[00:13:36] They do, which is kind of humiliating.

[00:13:38] It's very humiliating.

[00:13:39] And to me and those moments are cringy, but I think correctly so.

[00:13:45] Right. You want to be one of those.

[00:13:46] It doesn't. Yes.

[00:13:47] You're supposed to feel awkward as hell because everybody else in the room is

[00:13:51] like, yeah, OK, then when he's like, excuse me, Your Highness,

[00:13:56] I'm in charge of security here.

[00:13:59] And she's like sitting back in the car.

[00:14:01] Shut up, child. Yes.

[00:14:03] You know, I'm a retired queen.

[00:14:07] A duly elected queen.

[00:14:08] I'm a duly elected queen at the age of 12, but there's a new 13 year old in charge

[00:14:12] now, so I'm just a senator because Naboo politics makes sense.

[00:14:16] Right.

[00:14:17] Hmm. All right.

[00:14:19] Anything else for I guess our big round one

[00:14:23] finale question is what does this movie have that the 11 or the other 10 movies don't have?

[00:14:34] I think this one has at least Kenobi's story arc as a very old school

[00:14:42] detective thriller vibe.

[00:14:44] I do like that about this movie.

[00:14:46] And like if you think

[00:14:49] they don't mean they don't usually do this in the Star Wars movies, but like

[00:14:52] Rogue One had a very decisive World War Two vibe to it.

[00:14:57] This one to me has a very old school noir thriller vibe to it.

[00:15:01] Yeah.

[00:15:02] Solving a mystery.

[00:15:04] Worms coming in through the window trying to attack the senator.

[00:15:10] Worms.

[00:15:11] Spieship.

[00:15:12] Who were put there by a droid, which was hired by an assassin,

[00:15:16] who was hired by a bounty hunter, who was hired by Dooku,

[00:15:20] who was hired by Sidious to kill Padme.

[00:15:24] Said like 12 people to try to attack Padme.

[00:15:27] I like it.

[00:15:28] Follow the trail.

[00:15:30] What do you think?

[00:15:30] What does this movie have that the other ones don't have?

[00:15:33] I don't know. That's a good question.

[00:15:37] I mean, romance is a big part of this movie or true hormones.

[00:15:42] Maybe if you want to call it that.

[00:15:44] Yeah, I do have a note here that says Anakin is horny.

[00:15:46] Yeah.

[00:15:48] He is horny.

[00:15:49] There's a lot of that happening between, you know, obviously,

[00:15:55] between Anakin and Padme because I mean, you get that in some of the other movies.

[00:16:00] But it's a major point in this movie.

[00:16:04] And him just trying to figure all that out.

[00:16:07] He hasn't seen her in forever.

[00:16:08] He's like, I'm in love with you.

[00:16:09] And she's like, you don't even fucking know me.

[00:16:12] Yeah.

[00:16:14] So yeah.

[00:16:15] And then he's like, I killed all these people.

[00:16:16] She's like, hmm.

[00:16:19] Hmm.

[00:16:20] Maybe you are gonna cute.

[00:16:22] So right.

[00:16:25] So on that scene after he kills the Tuscan Raiders really before.

[00:16:28] So they do they do something interesting

[00:16:32] with that whole sequence there.

[00:16:34] So when Anakin and Padme are

[00:16:39] with Lars and and Baru,

[00:16:44] the father, so Lars is the father, Owen and Baru are also there.

[00:16:49] Lars is explaining what happened to Shmi and now she got taken.

[00:16:54] He says they may walk like man, but they're vicious, mindless monsters.

[00:16:59] Right.

[00:17:00] He had to dehumanize them before Anakin goes and kills all of them.

[00:17:06] And then when Anakin is confessing to Padme about killing the Tuscans,

[00:17:10] he says they're like animals and I slaughtered them like animals.

[00:17:14] All right, because

[00:17:16] they're not animals.

[00:17:18] Right.

[00:17:18] I mean, he just literally says the women and children, they're not animals.

[00:17:25] I killed them all, even the women and children.

[00:17:30] It's tough.

[00:17:30] It is tough.

[00:17:31] It's tough only to be topped by

[00:17:34] murdering a roomful of children in the next movie.

[00:17:37] So, you know, it's rough.

[00:17:41] Do you guys think the Palpatine had

[00:17:42] something to do with Shmi being abducted and taken?

[00:17:47] I wasn't sure if that was something that was just a fan theory or if that was in

[00:17:55] Canon somewhere, and I couldn't find confirmation about it or not.

[00:17:58] But it tracks with with what Palpatine was trying to do with Anakin by taking

[00:18:03] everything away from him and isolating him over time.

[00:18:07] And he also in that scene when he's throwing the fit in front of Padme

[00:18:11] after he's killed the Tuskens, he says, you know, I'm going to be the most powerful

[00:18:15] Jedi and I'm even going to figure out how to keep people from dying.

[00:18:18] So, I mean, planted that seed in that movie before revenge.

[00:18:22] But I don't know if that was true that he had already said that at one point

[00:18:27] about keeping people alive before, I believe, earlier in the movie.

[00:18:31] Right?

[00:18:31] And then he says it again and you're like, oh,

[00:18:34] mm hmm.

[00:18:36] People are real.

[00:18:36] Innovation.

[00:18:37] Yeah.

[00:18:39] Check off the screenwriting list.

[00:18:41] Motivation.

[00:18:42] Reasons.

[00:18:47] All right, that's that's round one round two is lightning round.

[00:18:50] What's the best scene in this movie?

[00:18:54] If you can only watch one thing again.

[00:18:56] I like the execution scene when they have a way of being executed.

[00:19:02] No, like the Gladiator Pit kind of thing.

[00:19:04] And Harry Housen style.

[00:19:06] Yeah.

[00:19:07] Can I pick two?

[00:19:08] You can you can name several nominees.

[00:19:10] OK, I will pick one.

[00:19:13] Django Fett dropping the seismic charge in the asteroid field classic.

[00:19:17] That was actually my answer for what does this movie have that no other movie has?

[00:19:20] Incredible.

[00:19:23] That's what it has.

[00:19:24] And then Django Fett and Obi-Wan fighting on the platform on Kamino is an incredible

[00:19:30] scene that is one of my favorite scenes.

[00:19:32] I made contact with the Prime Minister of Kamino.

[00:19:35] He is building a clone army.

[00:19:37] Right.

[00:19:39] Classic.

[00:19:40] How about you?

[00:19:42] I was going to say the fight scene.

[00:19:44] Also, the Django Fett Obi-Wan fight scene.

[00:19:47] I like that one the most.

[00:19:50] Is it is awesome.

[00:19:52] But you how about you listeners?

[00:19:54] What's your favorite scene from that movie?

[00:19:56] Let us know.

[00:19:56] Smash they like.

[00:19:57] Let us know.

[00:19:59] What's the best line of this movie?

[00:20:01] I have a couple that I wrote down.

[00:20:02] I'll just read what I wrote down.

[00:20:04] I'm just gonna listen to y'all because I didn't take notes.

[00:20:07] I don't mind flying, but what you're doing is suicide.

[00:20:10] Obi-Wan.

[00:20:11] Pretty good.

[00:20:11] That's a good one.

[00:20:13] When he's sitting down with the guy who is a weapons expert, but also a short order

[00:20:18] cook and a diner.

[00:20:20] Drax, right?

[00:20:21] Drax says, you Jedi appreciate the difference between knowledge and wisdom.

[00:20:27] That is a good line.

[00:20:28] It's a good line, even though that man

[00:20:30] his whole face looks like a vagina.

[00:20:34] Let's pause it there.

[00:20:35] Our lunch just got here.

[00:20:37] Oh, we'll be right back after these messages from our sponsors.

[00:20:45] Hey, do you love jizz?

[00:20:48] Do you spend your afternoons in a cantina drinking blue milk and listening to jizz?

[00:20:53] Do you like Max Rebo, the galactic jizz whalers?

[00:20:57] Catch a speeder to Tatooine and take your lady to Jabba's Palace.

[00:21:01] Let some of our fresh hot jizz wash over you.

[00:21:05] Jizz.

[00:21:07] All right, we're back.

[00:21:08] We had pizza and breadsticks.

[00:21:10] Yum. Welcome.

[00:21:11] We still have some items to discuss from the last question, which was your

[00:21:15] favorite line? Yeah, favorite line.

[00:21:17] Do you have any others?

[00:21:18] I hate sand, not OK.

[00:21:21] It's not my favorite line, but I noted this line when I was watching the movie.

[00:21:26] So this is a conversation between Padme and Anakin.

[00:21:29] Believe it's in the first act.

[00:21:31] The day we stop believing democracy can work is the day we lose it.

[00:21:36] That's a pretty good line.

[00:21:38] Yeah, I think that line hits.

[00:21:41] There's definitely like a.

[00:21:44] A story through these three where.

[00:21:47] Oh my god, there's a minus.

[00:21:49] There is a story.

[00:21:50] There's like a through line in these in this trilogy where he's talking about

[00:21:54] politics and he's talking about how

[00:21:57] peaceful republics fall to empire and stuff like that.

[00:22:00] So Lucas trying to get deep with shit like that.

[00:22:04] Well, I mean, yeah,

[00:22:06] I think that my favorite line is Jedi business.

[00:22:11] Go back to your drinks.

[00:22:13] That's a good line.

[00:22:14] He like gets to be a badass for a second.

[00:22:16] That is a good line.

[00:22:18] Jedi business.

[00:22:19] Go back to your drinks.

[00:22:20] That's pretty good.

[00:22:22] Who's the best hero in this movie?

[00:22:25] Best good guy.

[00:22:27] Probably Obi-Wan.

[00:22:29] Obi-Wan's pretty bad.

[00:22:31] He's trying to go hard.

[00:22:32] Yeah, he's pretty badass in this movie.

[00:22:33] Anakin's too.

[00:22:34] He's got a lot going on.

[00:22:36] I don't know, discovering a whole clone army.

[00:22:39] He has a lot.

[00:22:40] He has a lot of work.

[00:22:41] His young boy in line.

[00:22:43] There's really a lot of Jedi's that don't do nothing.

[00:22:47] Throughout these trilogy.

[00:22:48] Like there's how many Jedi are there?

[00:22:50] Ten thousand?

[00:22:51] I guess, yeah.

[00:22:52] Obi-Wan does everything.

[00:22:53] Every time something comes up, they're like,

[00:22:55] call Obi-Wan from the other side of the galaxy.

[00:22:56] He needs to come here and do this.

[00:22:57] Right.

[00:22:58] He's the wolf.

[00:22:59] Yeah.

[00:23:01] Best villain of this movie.

[00:23:03] So we've got Sidious kind of.

[00:23:05] We've got Dooku.

[00:23:08] I don't think that we see.

[00:23:10] Oh, we have Jango Fat.

[00:23:13] He's not maybe a villain, but he's definitely on the bad guys team.

[00:23:18] The dude from the techno union.

[00:23:21] Oh, that's big.

[00:23:23] Like old school robot.

[00:23:24] Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:23:25] That pops up for one second.

[00:23:27] He is rad looking.

[00:23:28] Yeah, I like that one.

[00:23:29] He needs his own Disney Plus show.

[00:23:32] But I would probably have to say Jango Fat.

[00:23:35] Yeah, Dooku never did it for me.

[00:23:38] Side character we've already talked about.

[00:23:41] What was his name?

[00:23:41] Drax, Drax.

[00:23:42] Yeah.

[00:23:44] Drax is pretty good.

[00:23:47] I mean, I'm not going to I'm not

[00:23:48] argumentative on any of that.

[00:23:52] It's very weird to do that bot and married Schmi.

[00:23:56] The way he talks about like she's such a gentle sweet lover.

[00:23:59] She was so good.

[00:24:02] He says that.

[00:24:02] Should we save that for the sex episode?

[00:24:05] It'll come up on the sex episode for sure, because they banged and he loved it.

[00:24:10] How do you think he lost his leg?

[00:24:18] Jimmy show is funny.

[00:24:20] All right, so best location.

[00:24:23] We said we go to like six planets in this movie.

[00:24:25] There's a bunch of different cities, a bunch of different settings.

[00:24:28] Which one's your favorite, Hannah?

[00:24:30] I'm still kind of partial to Geonosis where they had the gladiator execution.

[00:24:35] Yeah, yeah, that's a good one.

[00:24:38] Geonosis, I guess.

[00:24:39] Geonosis.

[00:24:41] So those the Geonosis who have wings and look like bugs.

[00:24:47] They build stuff, though.

[00:24:48] That's their thing.

[00:24:50] They're building the robots there.

[00:24:52] The droid army is being built there.

[00:24:54] They're also.

[00:24:55] Are they though?

[00:24:56] Or did the leader of the Geonosans just make his planet available?

[00:25:02] Because remember when 3PO is head swapped and

[00:25:07] he hasn't had swapped yet when he first walks into the factory,

[00:25:12] he says something along the lines of machines building machines.

[00:25:17] You know, this is madness or something like that.

[00:25:19] Cats and dogs living together.

[00:25:21] Mass hysteria.

[00:25:22] I don't know that the Geonosans are doing the building.

[00:25:25] I think they're just giving up their their space.

[00:25:29] Maybe that plan is just to the Techno Union.

[00:25:31] A lot of the

[00:25:33] whatever metal for smelting droids out of maybe it's a lot of natural resources.

[00:25:39] There's a lot of smelting.

[00:25:40] Yeah, you got to go somewhere and shmelt all that.

[00:25:43] If you're going to make a droid army.

[00:25:44] Shmelt in.

[00:25:45] No, you're not shmelting in space.

[00:25:48] You need a planet. Lord, who does that?

[00:25:50] Nobody.

[00:25:51] OK.

[00:25:53] Best ship of this movie.

[00:25:56] We start getting toward the end of the movie,

[00:25:59] we start getting a lot of the Republic stuff that we like.

[00:26:01] The big Venator.

[00:26:03] Right. Venator.

[00:26:04] How do you say that word?

[00:26:05] The Venator, Venator, the Star Destroyer before the Star Destroyer.

[00:26:11] Really good Lego set out for that this year.

[00:26:15] We see Obi-Wan's little Jedi Starfighter.

[00:26:21] That's cool little slave with the slave one.

[00:26:25] A ring.

[00:26:26] Can we call it slave one or is it fire spray mark to I think they've officially

[00:26:31] changed the name, but it's called slave one.

[00:26:33] It's slave one. Yeah.

[00:26:34] That's his name.

[00:26:35] Yes. But for me, my favorite ship isn't in the movie very long.

[00:26:41] It's that 1950s B2 bomber looking thing,

[00:26:45] that chrome bomber that the Queen, there you go,

[00:26:49] that the Queen brings in at the very, very beginning or not the Padme.

[00:26:53] And then they blow it up on the landing deck.

[00:26:55] That was that was cool.

[00:26:58] I'm currently wielding my mini.

[00:27:01] That explosion is like the first thing that happens in this movie.

[00:27:04] And it looks a whole lot like when

[00:27:07] something blows up on GoldenEye Nintendo 64.

[00:27:11] I do not like the

[00:27:13] we're going to get into that later.

[00:27:14] Yeah, all right.

[00:27:16] So best chase scene.

[00:27:18] It's got to be

[00:27:20] when he's chasing Django and he uses the

[00:27:23] yeah, the seismic charge,

[00:27:26] but then chasing after the assassin on Coruscant is pretty good too.

[00:27:30] That's true.

[00:27:31] And that has your one of your favorite lines from Obi-Wan.

[00:27:34] That's true.

[00:27:35] That's good.

[00:27:36] And I was reading some of the trivia on

[00:27:38] IMDB about this movie and apparently in the portion of that chase sequence where

[00:27:43] Anakin does the pitches, the the craft going straight down.

[00:27:48] Yeah.

[00:27:49] Apparently in the cloud of vehicles,

[00:27:51] there's an X-wing being chased by two TIE fighters that they put in that they

[00:27:55] rendered in there.

[00:27:56] Yeah, I believe it.

[00:27:59] I never think to like look in the background in those shots.

[00:28:01] And I know that there's always

[00:28:02] an apparently there's an asteroid in the Kenobi Django Fett chase sequence.

[00:28:08] There's an asteroid that is a potato.

[00:28:11] No, it's the that ram looking monster that's in the arena at the end

[00:28:16] that Anakin ends up writing.

[00:28:18] Yeah, it's that it's that model just floating

[00:28:22] in the asteroid field.

[00:28:26] Best fight.

[00:28:30] So we have a very big this movie ends with the lightsaber duel or

[00:28:35] not a duel, really.

[00:28:37] There's three Jedi's versus Dooku.

[00:28:40] I still think it's Django Fett and Obi-Wan.

[00:28:43] That's a better fight scene.

[00:28:46] I agree.

[00:28:46] It's a better fight scene to the Yoda fighting Dooku is silly.

[00:28:52] It's silly looking.

[00:28:53] It's dumb.

[00:28:54] Remember seeing that for the first time?

[00:28:56] I was pretty hyped when he like brings the lightsaber out.

[00:29:01] Right.

[00:29:02] But it's funny looking at him and then he starts bouncing around.

[00:29:05] Yeah.

[00:29:05] So while we're here, let's stop for a second.

[00:29:10] Sidebar.

[00:29:11] I'd like to give out an award now.

[00:29:14] It's called the they fly now award

[00:29:18] for the biggest anti-canon moment.

[00:29:21] So what part of this movie happens where you're like, wait a minute,

[00:29:24] that's not OK.

[00:29:26] That's not canon.

[00:29:28] So let's see.

[00:29:29] First of all, I have four possibilities for this award.

[00:29:34] Obi-Wan sees Django Fett and doesn't say, oh, he's wearing Mandalorian armor.

[00:29:38] He's like this version of Obi-Wan has never seen a Mandalorian before.

[00:29:43] But this version of Obi-Wan technically had a relationship with years.

[00:29:48] Yeah.

[00:29:49] Spent so much time on knows a little bit about Mandalore.

[00:29:52] Yeah.

[00:29:53] Part two and we'll see this again in the third movie, but R2-D2 can fly.

[00:29:57] Yes.

[00:29:58] He has jets that come out of that would have come in so handy

[00:30:02] in every other moment of his life.

[00:30:06] Obi-Wan can send a hologram message

[00:30:09] across the galaxy instantly from his little delay.

[00:30:14] No delay.

[00:30:15] How does that work?

[00:30:17] Sometimes they'll just be like, we can't reach them.

[00:30:19] We can't get there.

[00:30:20] We can't have fuel.

[00:30:21] And then sometimes they're like, yeah, we can do whatever we want.

[00:30:24] Oh, I can't reach him on that planet.

[00:30:25] I'll bounce it off Tatooine.

[00:30:28] And then number four would be Yoda the Flying Ninja.

[00:30:32] He flies now.

[00:30:33] Yeah.

[00:30:34] Those are my four moments where it's like, oh, why doesn't that happen

[00:30:37] in any of the other 10 movies if this is possible?

[00:30:40] Like the I so retroactively the first one would be the force running

[00:30:44] and that we see once in the first movie.

[00:30:48] And this time I'm going to say it's Yoda.

[00:30:50] I don't like seeing Yoda bounce around.

[00:30:51] He's 900 years old, 30 years from now.

[00:30:54] Right.

[00:30:55] So now he's eight hundred and seventy years old.

[00:30:57] I do like though at the end of that fight sequence,

[00:31:01] like you see his body posture go back into being hunched and,

[00:31:06] you know, he force grabs his cane and he goes back to it.

[00:31:09] I thought that was fun.

[00:31:10] I mean, because you can't write.

[00:31:11] He got tired.

[00:31:12] A little burst of energy.

[00:31:13] It's like these puppies.

[00:31:15] You know, feed him a little kibble and they run around like crazy.

[00:31:17] And then 30 minutes later, they're like, ah, time for bed.

[00:31:20] Yeah, time for a two minute nap.

[00:31:21] We may not get more recorded after this because we time to play with puppies.

[00:31:25] The puppies and anything else.

[00:31:28] Let's see best outfit from this movie.

[00:31:31] It's got to go to Padme.

[00:31:33] She's wearing the white outfit reminiscent of Leia.

[00:31:35] Yep.

[00:31:36] It's like a geosis.

[00:31:38] Yeah.

[00:31:39] Best toy from this movie.

[00:31:41] I don't remember at this point.

[00:31:43] I probably wasn't buying as many toys.

[00:31:46] See, I bought a lot of toys for James.

[00:31:50] Yeah.

[00:31:52] Well done.

[00:31:53] Right. Carter didn't do Star Wars very much like I had a he'll he still he'll

[00:31:58] watch it now, but Carter didn't enjoy Star Wars as much as I wanted him to.

[00:32:03] I don't yeah.

[00:32:04] At this point, what do we say 2002?

[00:32:07] Yeah.

[00:32:07] So I met Jamie in 2002.

[00:32:09] Yeah, I wasn't I bought toys every once in a while.

[00:32:12] I do remember I bought a kit, Fisto action figure

[00:32:16] at one point from this because I bought all kinds of toys.

[00:32:19] I bought the clone trooper transport.

[00:32:22] I got James a bunch of the clone troopers and then my favorite toy that I got for

[00:32:28] James was the slave one because it had the seismic charge.

[00:32:33] And it was the it was the same model as the the toy that we grew up playing

[00:32:37] with just painted different.

[00:32:38] Yeah.

[00:32:39] And then they had that little seismic thing that was cool.

[00:32:42] Did we have anything about cameos in there?

[00:32:44] Is that a is there a thing?

[00:32:46] Cameos, Easter eggs, whatever.

[00:32:48] We do get it.

[00:32:49] OK, we'll get to that.

[00:32:50] Or is that an idea?

[00:32:51] No, I didn't do it.

[00:32:52] Anthony Daniels only appearance right?

[00:32:55] Not as C3PO.

[00:32:56] He's in the bar.

[00:32:57] Oh, that's right.

[00:32:59] That is right.

[00:33:00] I forgot about it.

[00:33:00] And then I saw him.

[00:33:01] I was like, oh, it's Anthony Daniels.

[00:33:02] Nice.

[00:33:04] All right.

[00:33:06] Best use of the force in this movie.

[00:33:11] When they're having a romantic dinner and he makes an apple float

[00:33:15] and then cuts it in half and then she eats it.

[00:33:19] This movie sucks.

[00:33:25] I think best use of the force for me would be when

[00:33:29] Dooku and Yoda are having a force off.

[00:33:32] All right.

[00:33:33] And Dooku's like throwing rocks and shit at him

[00:33:35] and Yoda's just catching them and throwing around and then Dooku hits them

[00:33:38] with the lightning and he bounces it off the first time.

[00:33:41] He makes a little ball.

[00:33:42] And then and then Dooku hits him again with the force lightning

[00:33:45] and Yoda just kind of grabs it and puts it in his shirt for later.

[00:33:50] He's like, I will eat this tomorrow.

[00:33:52] Right.

[00:33:54] That is a good line, though, because Dooku's like, obviously

[00:33:57] this will not be settled by our knowledge of the force.

[00:34:01] Handiness with the lights with a lightsaber.

[00:34:05] That's good.

[00:34:07] Good casting, though, to put fucking Dracula.

[00:34:09] Oh, absolutely.

[00:34:10] Because at this time he was also in Lord of the Rings and we were seeing a

[00:34:14] fucking Christopher Lee Renaissance.

[00:34:16] And dooku was there for the same year.

[00:34:19] Yeah, man.

[00:34:20] Two towers took their took their Oscar.

[00:34:23] I can't believe they nominated this for best special effects.

[00:34:26] Dog shit.

[00:34:27] I hate this movie.

[00:34:28] I got a note on here.

[00:34:29] Everything is a cartoon.

[00:34:30] This movie needs to be re-rendered.

[00:34:33] Like, you know how Lucas, you know how, right?

[00:34:36] Like this this movie needs and would greatly benefit from a remastering.

[00:34:42] Like I know Lucas likes to go back in and tweak and change and just leave the

[00:34:46] movie as it is, just run it through another render engine.

[00:34:50] The technology has changed so much in the 20 years.

[00:34:53] I mean, there are sequences where I'm like,

[00:34:55] that's just a gray box in the background.

[00:34:58] Right.

[00:34:59] Yeah.

[00:35:00] There's so many scenes where you can see them standing there and holding guns

[00:35:05] and going pew pew and you're like, you guys are just standing in a bunch of circles

[00:35:09] looking at lights.

[00:35:11] This is so sad.

[00:35:12] They have no idea what they're looking at.

[00:35:13] And I don't know what they're looking at.

[00:35:14] Right.

[00:35:14] And I can see it.

[00:35:16] Um,

[00:35:18] wokeness is this movie woke?

[00:35:20] This movie not woke?

[00:35:21] So it got good bad woke moments.

[00:35:24] The they are animals.

[00:35:25] So I killed them like animals.

[00:35:27] All stuff is nice.

[00:35:28] Not good.

[00:35:29] Not good, especially because we learn later that they are a culture and they are

[00:35:33] they had to have that though.

[00:35:35] Yeah, because I mean, Anakin's the hero ish.

[00:35:39] Right.

[00:35:40] Mm hmm.

[00:35:41] But there is also a little exchange about pronouns in this movie.

[00:35:46] There is very current when he says he came in here to hide and he says,

[00:35:50] I think he is a she and she is a changeling.

[00:35:53] That's right.

[00:35:53] That's right.

[00:35:54] So well, pronoun action.

[00:35:55] It's woke.

[00:35:56] All right.

[00:35:57] So add an F bomb to this movie.

[00:36:00] And I can just wait when we go and fuck.

[00:36:02] I would like to fuck.

[00:36:05] Could you?

[00:36:06] That's a whole new line.

[00:36:10] What?

[00:36:11] Tell me that the middle third of this

[00:36:12] movie isn't all about him trying to hook up with that.

[00:36:15] I'm going back to Schmi's wet.

[00:36:17] Schmi Schmi's funeral and that old man sitting in the wheelchair.

[00:36:22] And he's like, she was a sweet fuck.

[00:36:26] I'll miss her.

[00:36:28] How about you, Hannah?

[00:36:31] I think when we did the lightning round on this the last time in the mini episode,

[00:36:36] it was.

[00:36:38] But it was somewhere in San.

[00:36:40] It's fucking everywhere or I fucking hate saying that's still pretty good.

[00:36:45] I think that's probably the answer.

[00:36:46] That's probably the right one.

[00:36:48] Sweet fuck is pretty good.

[00:36:51] All right, that's section two.

[00:36:55] We're on a section three.

[00:36:56] Let's get nerdy.

[00:36:57] Do we do a I think we have to take a word from our sponsors?

[00:37:01] Let's get a word from our sponsors.

[00:37:02] Let's get a word in.

[00:37:09] Sunday, Sunday, Sunday.

[00:37:11] If you're on Tatooine, get your hut down to Moss Espa pod race circuit.

[00:37:15] We've got Subolba, Young Skywalker, pit droids, nonstop action.

[00:37:21] Will pesky Tusken Raiders murder your favorite pod racer?

[00:37:25] Will the Jedi cheat you out of your favorite slave?

[00:37:28] You'll find out this and more on Sunday, Sunday, Sunday.

[00:37:33] Pod race.

[00:37:38] And we're back.

[00:37:39] Welcome back.

[00:37:40] We're back.

[00:37:41] We are back after our sponsors have graced us and given us a little quid.

[00:37:48] What's what we got next?

[00:37:49] Actually, they pay in credits.

[00:37:52] This is the third act of our program today is called Let's Get Nerdy with it.

[00:37:58] No more set questions.

[00:37:59] Now we're just diving in.

[00:38:01] I will start.

[00:38:02] I don't think they show Anakin doing anything wrong in this movie other than

[00:38:08] the genocide, which obviously is a big one.

[00:38:11] It's a big one.

[00:38:12] But what I mean is they that it seems to be that like Padme a little bit and

[00:38:19] mostly Obi-Wan is trying to keep him in check, trying to train him, trying to

[00:38:23] like, you know, mold his mind and make him make good decisions.

[00:38:26] And like in their in the chase in the beginning,

[00:38:29] he's like, I told you about this.

[00:38:31] Yes, I know, Master.

[00:38:32] I'm sorry, Master.

[00:38:33] He's constantly doing that.

[00:38:34] I do try, Master.

[00:38:35] I want to listen to you.

[00:38:36] And then he like jumps out of the thing.

[00:38:38] I hated when he does that.

[00:38:40] I hate it when he does that.

[00:38:41] But he lands directly where he's supposed to land.

[00:38:43] He catches the bad guy.

[00:38:45] He does everything perfectly like what he's supposed to do.

[00:38:48] The mission accomplished because of Anakin.

[00:38:51] Right.

[00:38:52] If you want to show us that he's being,

[00:38:54] you know, petulant and, you know, a little too much bravado for his youth or whatever,

[00:39:01] like that would be cool.

[00:39:03] But like you should show him like doing some things wrong or do it show some

[00:39:07] things not working out.

[00:39:08] Everything works out for him in this movie until he gets his arm cut off at

[00:39:11] the end, but I just feel like there was a little missing there where it

[00:39:16] was like, like the whole movie is supposed to be showing Anakin as this

[00:39:20] like rebellious teenager, but he's actually just a.

[00:39:24] He's a little hotheaded, but he's good at it.

[00:39:26] That's true.

[00:39:27] He's not failing at anything.

[00:39:30] I mean, there is there's at least two times, if not three times in the movie

[00:39:34] where Obi-Wan kind of assumes that Anakin is doing something outside of scope,

[00:39:42] but it's really Padme's idea, right?

[00:39:44] Like using her as bait and the right thing.

[00:39:46] Right.

[00:39:47] It was her idea and Anakin can pull it off.

[00:39:50] And then when they get the message that Obi-Wan's in trouble and they're on

[00:39:56] tattooing, it's, you know, Anakin is like,

[00:40:01] only one do just told me I have to.

[00:40:04] I can't even step outside of this little one square meter that I'm on because

[00:40:09] if I do, he'll know and I'll be in trouble.

[00:40:11] Get Jedi detention.

[00:40:13] Yeah.

[00:40:13] And Padme's like, well, he also said, you have to protect me.

[00:40:16] So I'm going.

[00:40:16] Yeah. Right.

[00:40:18] So yeah, it's her idea.

[00:40:20] But if they don't do that is Obi-Wan killed on

[00:40:23] Geonosis probably because no one else comes to save him until they call everybody.

[00:40:27] Right.

[00:40:28] So there's that.

[00:40:32] I already talked about Palpatine's office.

[00:40:35] I saw a clip.

[00:40:36] This is from Family Guy.

[00:40:38] I don't like that show, but this was very funny where they were just like,

[00:40:41] why does he have a desk?

[00:40:42] Like, why does he have a desk?

[00:40:43] Was he doing a bunch of paperwork before they showed up?

[00:40:46] Why does he have a desk?

[00:40:48] Phyllis has his expense reports for all the contractors building the new

[00:40:53] Death Star offscreen.

[00:40:55] Yeah, what does he do at his desk?

[00:40:58] I've never seen anyone pick up a pen in any of this in this whole pro this whole

[00:41:02] universe, people aren't writing stuff down.

[00:41:04] Can they write?

[00:41:05] You get to Cassian to Indore.

[00:41:07] They all push and pencil and shit basically right at their desk.

[00:41:11] They have cubicles and stuff in that show.

[00:41:13] Yeah. Yeah.

[00:41:14] We get a whole series about those motherfuckers.

[00:41:16] Can Luke Skywalker read?

[00:41:21] We don't see him.

[00:41:22] We don't see him reading.

[00:41:24] Just saying.

[00:41:26] I do think the Coruscant looks too much like Blade Runner.

[00:41:30] I think the city, I thought it looked too much.

[00:41:32] I was like the neon and the stuff come up with a couple of things where you're

[00:41:36] like, oh, I've never seen a futuristic city that has that.

[00:41:40] Right.

[00:41:40] Like ever since Blade Runner, all anybody can think of is like,

[00:41:43] what if the hologram was really big?

[00:41:45] I don't know if it was a giant hologram.

[00:41:51] Anakin has the worst Riz.

[00:41:54] Oh, so I work with young people and I'm trying to stay up on current slang.

[00:42:01] OK, Riz is short for charisma.

[00:42:04] And it's what you do to make a lady like you is you use your Riz.

[00:42:09] You use your Riz,

[00:42:11] which is Anakin Force.

[00:42:13] Anakin has poor Riz, very poor.

[00:42:16] She's like just trying to like hang out and talk and he's like,

[00:42:20] I'm going to be a great Jedi.

[00:42:22] Obi-Wan.

[00:42:24] He doesn't get it.

[00:42:26] I haven't seen you in 10 years.

[00:42:27] I love you.

[00:42:29] Also, I love you.

[00:42:30] Also, what?

[00:42:32] What? How? What?

[00:42:34] I called you an angel the last time I saw you.

[00:42:37] You're still an angel.

[00:42:38] You're still an angel.

[00:42:40] Um, couldn't one of these people does does does does the Jedi have money?

[00:42:47] The Jedi, they should have money.

[00:42:49] Do they have any money?

[00:42:50] They have a budget.

[00:42:51] They have spaceships.

[00:42:53] Yeah.

[00:42:54] Um, that's a great question.

[00:42:56] The ex-Queen of Naboo.

[00:42:57] She's rolling.

[00:42:59] She still has people dressed like her and she's not even the queen anymore.

[00:43:02] She still has body doubles.

[00:43:03] Right.

[00:43:04] She's rolling with a deep entourage.

[00:43:06] She's got money.

[00:43:07] She's got a budget.

[00:43:09] Nobody was like, look, I'm just going to go buy your mom and save her.

[00:43:13] Like.

[00:43:17] Like nobody Yoda was like offered Yoda when he first meets Anakin as a baby.

[00:43:22] He's like, you love your mom too much.

[00:43:24] And that's just making you scared and angry.

[00:43:26] And that's going to lead to you becoming Darth Vader and killing everybody.

[00:43:31] And nobody was like, oh, can we just buy his mom and move her to Florida?

[00:43:36] And then he doesn't have to fucking worry about that anymore.

[00:43:38] Anyway, because they're supposed to be detached from all that shit.

[00:43:41] Right.

[00:43:42] But wouldn't he feel a little more detached if his mom wasn't a slave?

[00:43:48] Sex slave being destroyed by a pack of wild sand people.

[00:43:53] What also, since we're here,

[00:43:56] what was what she was there for a month

[00:43:59] tied up to that wooden rack thing where he finds her.

[00:44:03] What's what's happened?

[00:44:04] What's her life like for the last month?

[00:44:06] Is it just constant?

[00:44:07] Like abuse, like hard, like the worst things I can imagine.

[00:44:11] Is that what's happened to that woman?

[00:44:12] But the other thing is they move around.

[00:44:16] Right. So yeah, I have to believe that I want to believe that it wasn't like that

[00:44:19] the whole time and I still want to give credence,

[00:44:22] a little bit of credence to the fact that Palpatine set him up.

[00:44:25] And before I watched, rewatched the movie for this podcast,

[00:44:30] I was thinking about that sequence and how

[00:44:34] I read that fan theory about Palpatine setting him up and that

[00:44:39] setting Anakin up by having Shmi taken and and that

[00:44:44] that the same people just had her, right?

[00:44:48] They hadn't they weren't complicit in her abduction.

[00:44:51] They they were playing a role.

[00:44:53] They were playing a role in the deal.

[00:44:55] But then when I watched the scene, I'm like, no,

[00:44:57] the way they have the way they have her tied up is not.

[00:45:01] They're not like, hey, we got a new slave.

[00:45:04] She can cook all the meals.

[00:45:06] Right. That's not what's going on. No.

[00:45:09] It's not the one of those like, oh, that's freaking dark.

[00:45:13] Mm hmm. That's really awful.

[00:45:14] It is. And then she's terrible.

[00:45:16] Dies in his hands.

[00:45:18] All right. Corey, thoughts?

[00:45:20] I mean, that's all terrible.

[00:45:21] Yes.

[00:45:24] I got something.

[00:45:26] I got a note here.

[00:45:27] This Palpatine was bridging minds before Snoke.

[00:45:30] So like, if you think back to last Jedi, the way that they were

[00:45:35] literally seeing one another and that was supposedly Snoke that was

[00:45:40] bridging their minds to put them together.

[00:45:42] Right.

[00:45:43] Palpatine's doing that with Anakin by bridging what's happening with

[00:45:49] Shmi into his nightmares.

[00:45:52] He's doing that.

[00:45:53] I don't think it's just Anakin

[00:45:56] that's feeling it creating the want for him to.

[00:46:00] Yes. Ask the question, how do I save people?

[00:46:02] Right.

[00:46:03] Because I think I could because Palpy knows

[00:46:07] the answer is come be my homey.

[00:46:09] Come be my homey.

[00:46:11] You can sit next to my desk.

[00:46:13] I'll have a little desk made for you.

[00:46:16] The second desk.

[00:46:18] What's what's better than first desk?

[00:46:20] Second desk in the Star Wars universe.

[00:46:25] Um,

[00:46:28] here's a question for you.

[00:46:31] Boba is 10 years old, 10, 10 year old little Boba.

[00:46:34] Ten, yeah.

[00:46:36] His dad's like, hey, let's go to this other planet and whatever.

[00:46:40] And then he watches his dad get his head chopped off.

[00:46:43] And he goes and picks that head up.

[00:46:44] And he's like, mm, helmet's still good.

[00:46:47] I'm going to keep all this.

[00:46:49] Just shake my dad's head out of it.

[00:46:51] And then I got a I got an outfit that I can't wear yet because I'm only 10.

[00:46:54] Mm hmm. I got a ship parked out back that belongs to me now.

[00:47:00] It's 10 year old Boba, like he's just like out out

[00:47:03] while in right now, he's like, I guess I'm going to go get a job.

[00:47:07] Start killing people.

[00:47:08] He does.

[00:47:09] There's he's in the Clone Wars, right?

[00:47:12] He makes he makes an appearance.

[00:47:14] Boba in there, huh? Yeah.

[00:47:16] He wants to kill Mays Windu.

[00:47:18] No, Mays Windu.

[00:47:20] He wants to kill Mays Windu real, real hard.

[00:47:26] Do you have any how the hell's when you think about it?

[00:47:33] I got it. I got a hell of a hill.

[00:47:35] How the hell I don't have another beer right now.

[00:47:37] Can I get one? We can get you a beer in the man.

[00:47:41] I just thought about that.

[00:47:42] Thank you, Jimmy. And thank you for the pizza. Absolutely.

[00:47:45] Here's something else.

[00:47:46] I saw a video of a little girl who had watched all of the Clone War cartoons,

[00:47:50] right, like a young girl, like eight or something.

[00:47:53] And her dad's like, this will be a good place to start because these are kind of

[00:47:57] like for kids or whatever.

[00:47:58] And then she finally gets around to where she's watching the

[00:48:02] prequel twirlegy with this little girl and she gets to revenge on the Sith.

[00:48:06] And she's just crying.

[00:48:08] She's like, I don't want Anakin to turn into the bad guy.

[00:48:11] Oh, so that's how she yeah, that's because she watched the Clone Wars.

[00:48:14] And that was another question I had is like, how different is this Anakin?

[00:48:19] Because this movie ends with boy, the Clone Wars are starting now.

[00:48:22] And then you watch the show and the show ends with Episode Three.

[00:48:27] And technically it's it intercuts.

[00:48:30] Right. I mean, you can there's there's

[00:48:33] that I'm sure somebody's done it where you can take part of that movie,

[00:48:36] the revenge of the Sith and intercut it where they like the last two.

[00:48:40] Leave this room and go in here and how they talk to Soka.

[00:48:42] Yeah. But there's so I just feel like like when you watch the

[00:48:48] Clone Wars and you watch him with snips.

[00:48:50] Write that down. We need to find that.

[00:48:53] You want to watch that super cut of revenge of the Sith and Clone Wars?

[00:48:57] Yeah, I'm sure it's out there.

[00:48:59] But how different like Anakin is like a lovable kind of guy in the Clone Wars.

[00:49:03] Yep. And in this movie, he's not.

[00:49:06] He has his moments for sure.

[00:49:08] He's more off putting in this movie.

[00:49:10] Yeah. Yeah. He can't go.

[00:49:11] He can't hold a conversation without

[00:49:14] getting getting. Yeah.

[00:49:15] Getting the temper tantrum about or getting yelled at me out.

[00:49:19] Mm hmm.

[00:49:22] I'm hearing this in this movie, right?

[00:49:25] That's true. Maybe some of his aggression.

[00:49:27] He did seal the deal.

[00:49:28] Anxiness has gone.

[00:49:30] Oh, oh, right.

[00:49:32] You know what I'm saying? Oh.

[00:49:35] He's worked it out.

[00:49:36] So stay tuned.

[00:49:38] We're going to do a whole episode.

[00:49:40] A whole sexy episode about.

[00:49:43] The sexiness doing it, doing it.

[00:49:45] And doing it well in the Star Wars universe.

[00:49:48] Use the force. That's one option.

[00:49:49] I don't know. That just made the one.

[00:49:53] The other thing I was tracking for every movie in this situation is how big is

[00:49:58] your climax? Speaking of sexy.

[00:50:02] I had a whole mouthful of beer.

[00:50:04] That was almost a legit spit take.

[00:50:06] So the end of.

[00:50:09] Mentus had, I think, three things going on or four things going on at the same time.

[00:50:14] There's like space battle and there's

[00:50:16] thrown in a fight and then the land battle, land battle with the army.

[00:50:21] And then there's Dula the fates.

[00:50:23] All that's happening at the same time.

[00:50:24] So in this one, they kind of spread it out.

[00:50:26] So like there's the shit in the robot factory, which I hate.

[00:50:31] Yeah, that's it looks like a side scrolling

[00:50:35] like old school video game, like, oh, no, jump through the hoops that you can tell.

[00:50:40] Obviously weren't there. It's all green screen like duck, jump, duck.

[00:50:45] We'll put something in later.

[00:50:46] Oh, something flew at you. You did it.

[00:50:48] Like I hate that scene.

[00:50:50] Yeah, you did it.

[00:50:51] It's like that happens and it leads straight into the gladiator scene,

[00:50:57] which leads straight into kind of a battle because then both armies show up

[00:51:01] droids and clones.

[00:51:03] And then there's the clone.

[00:51:04] And then there's the.

[00:51:05] Yeah, you're right. It's more linear.

[00:51:06] That happens and then they get to the cave where they fight.

[00:51:09] Dooku dooku.

[00:51:11] So it's like none of that happens concurrently in this movie.

[00:51:14] It's spread out.

[00:51:15] So I think that was probably

[00:51:17] another part of the montage or the homage to Empire.

[00:51:21] His empire didn't have because Empire has just got like they're trying to get

[00:51:25] out of Cloud City while he fights and finds out you're my father.

[00:51:29] Right.

[00:51:29] Like that's the climax of that movie.

[00:51:31] So I feel like they maybe weren't stacking it up like that in this one.

[00:51:36] And that makes sense, too, because isn't that when they in the arena?

[00:51:41] That's when they reunite Obi-Wan and Anakin.

[00:51:44] Right.

[00:51:45] Mm hmm.

[00:51:48] Exactly.

[00:51:49] All right. What else?

[00:51:50] How about you, sideburns?

[00:51:52] I think that covers this, right?

[00:51:54] I think so.

[00:51:55] So just like so let's hold on.

[00:51:58] You got a note here that says Lucas reedits.

[00:52:01] What would you I mean, I want the whole movie

[00:52:04] re-rendered, but what do you think Lucas would add or take away?

[00:52:09] Well, there's another question on there.

[00:52:10] Yeah, there's another one.

[00:52:12] Also, yeah, I feel like he would.

[00:52:15] I just read the last question.

[00:52:17] I feel like a lot of the special effects he would redo.

[00:52:20] I feel like a lot of the things that you can tell are happening where they

[00:52:23] would shoot them now in the volume, which looks a lot better.

[00:52:26] Back then it was just a green screen and they was like, we're going to color in a

[00:52:30] whole town behind you like and it looks terrible most of the time.

[00:52:35] So I think I would.

[00:52:36] Where would he put a song and dance number in this movie?

[00:52:41] When they're in the club in the beginning,

[00:52:43] they go to a nightclub looking for a person.

[00:52:45] The most appropriate place for them to put a song and dance routine.

[00:52:48] There would be some dance fighting.

[00:52:49] Right.

[00:52:50] Could could they have a beach off?

[00:52:52] They would beat each other off.

[00:52:53] There we go.

[00:52:58] Yeah, so final question.

[00:52:59] Which character in this movie has the largest ding dong?

[00:53:06] Not character, I should say creature creature.

[00:53:08] I think

[00:53:10] probably something in that arena.

[00:53:11] I think it's probably the bowl in the arena.

[00:53:13] Yeah.

[00:53:15] What do you do?

[00:53:17] Anything bigger?

[00:53:18] No, I bet Drax is hung like a horse.

[00:53:23] Lars.

[00:53:23] Right.

[00:53:25] Clearly Lars had something going on.

[00:53:26] Oh my God.

[00:53:31] I think that's it then, right?

[00:53:33] So we hope you guys learn something.

[00:53:36] So so where does this movie rank one to eleven for you?

[00:53:41] Because it's not eleven to me.

[00:53:43] No, no.

[00:53:46] Phantom into this would have to be eleven.

[00:53:48] This is still low on the on the

[00:53:51] chart but above Rise of Skywalker.

[00:53:54] I like to I liked it a lot more this viewing.

[00:53:57] So it's above Rise of Skywalker for sure.

[00:54:00] I mean, he'll probably even above

[00:54:04] last week and now I would put it.

[00:54:10] I would say I would rather watch this than Rise of Skywalker.

[00:54:14] I would rather watch this than Last Jedi.

[00:54:17] Mentus, but that's it.

[00:54:18] No, I'd rather watch Mentus.

[00:54:19] I'd rather see Darth Darth Maul again than Dooku for two hours.

[00:54:25] You don't really I got more out of

[00:54:27] and Liam and more out of Mentus than this one.

[00:54:29] Liam Neeson is fun to watch in that movie, too.

[00:54:32] He's he's great.

[00:54:33] So much other bullshit in the movie.

[00:54:35] So much bullshit in this movie.

[00:54:38] They're really fighting it out neck and neck.

[00:54:42] What a few sideburns.

[00:54:45] This movie for the longest time was at the bottom for me.

[00:54:48] Like it's the one that I would I just didn't want to watch this one.

[00:54:52] It's the one that I would skip.

[00:54:53] Yeah.

[00:54:55] And I don't feel that way about it anymore.

[00:54:57] I would I don't I just probably one up from the bottom.

[00:55:01] Yeah, but

[00:55:04] I have more respect for this movie after this watching than I did before it.

[00:55:08] And it's not perfect at all.

[00:55:10] It's but it's still a Star War.

[00:55:12] And I have to believe that part of

[00:55:16] my change is I've watched all of the Clone Wars.

[00:55:22] I've I know where that character is going.

[00:55:26] And then seeing them bringing back Anakin and the Ahsoka series that.

[00:55:34] I don't know.

[00:55:36] I don't want to say rehabilitation of the character, right?

[00:55:39] But, you know, I just I gave it's a little fuller.

[00:55:43] I gave I gave the character a lot more

[00:55:45] latitude on this viewing than I ever did before.

[00:55:49] And I liked it.

[00:55:51] It was it is weird to think like

[00:55:55] when we watched this movie in the theater in 2002,

[00:55:58] we had never seen Anakin.

[00:56:01] We'd seen a child.

[00:56:02] Right.

[00:56:03] And we'd seen Darth Vader, but we'd never seen Anakin.

[00:56:07] Never seen him.

[00:56:07] And I think seeing Anakin being that whiny and

[00:56:11] hotheaded and stilted was off putting.

[00:56:16] Yeah.

[00:56:16] Right.

[00:56:17] I think we wanted more from our first viewing of Anakin.

[00:56:21] Yeah. I know I did.

[00:56:22] And that's probably why my opinion about the movie has changed since we have now seen

[00:56:28] more of Anakin.

[00:56:29] We we we saw him become a general.

[00:56:32] You know, we saw him fall and become Vader in a much more complete arc.

[00:56:39] And then now we got we had the benefit of seeing, you know, his

[00:56:42] force ghost redemption arc with Ahsoka.

[00:56:47] And he's just a much richer character now.

[00:56:49] I think from the perspective that we have now,

[00:56:53] and maybe we can talk about this when we do Revenge of the Sith next.

[00:56:59] But I feel like

[00:57:01] I would have I have a different arc in mind for the trilogy.

[00:57:04] This whole trilogy,

[00:57:06] I think the first movie should have been 10 minutes.

[00:57:09] The first movie should have been the prologue to the real episode one

[00:57:14] where we start with Hayden Christensen.

[00:57:16] Gotcha.

[00:57:17] But we can talk about the next time.

[00:57:18] I think that I think I think that I have in my head canon like a whole

[00:57:22] different way that works.

[00:57:23] Yeah, we can make it.

[00:57:25] Thanks, Gerd.

[00:57:27] We can do that now.

[00:57:28] Use the force.

[00:57:29] All right. I think that's it.

[00:57:31] Yeah, you got her coming.

[00:57:33] You got your your shout outs, you got to say.

[00:57:36] Do we still have clothing on T public?

[00:57:38] We do. We do.

[00:57:39] As a matter of fact, yeah, let's talk about that.

[00:57:42] We've got pictures from a couple of listeners.

[00:57:44] Shout out Drew Kellogg.

[00:57:46] He got a hoodie.

[00:57:47] Nice hoodie.

[00:57:48] You can get nice.

[00:57:49] And I asked him about it.

[00:57:50] I was like, what's the quality on that?

[00:57:52] Because the t-shirts are pretty pretty good.

[00:57:54] Yeah, because I got a t-shirt also.

[00:57:57] But I asked him he was like, honestly,

[00:57:59] he's like I paid for the upcharge and it's the nicest hoodie I own.

[00:58:03] Oh wow.

[00:58:03] So if you're going to go on T public and get a we are a Star Wars hoodie,

[00:58:08] get the do the upcharge.

[00:58:09] He said it was only like seven bucks extra or something.
