In which 3 buttholes discuss Solo - A Star Wars story.
[00:00:00] Hello there, my name is Corey and I am a Star War.
[00:00:08] And my name is Corey and I am a Star War.
[00:00:11] And my name is Jim and I am a Star War.
[00:00:14] And we are a Star War.
[00:00:18] And this is going to be the three of us talking about Solo the Star Wars story, right?
[00:00:25] Is that what they call it?
[00:00:26] Correct, a Star Wars story.
[00:00:29] And if you listen to the last one, we were very excited that Rogue One was next.
[00:00:33] And then we realized it was not next.
[00:00:35] Solo is next.
[00:00:36] Solo is next.
[00:00:37] Chronologically.
[00:00:38] So yeah, we're going to talk about that movie.
[00:00:41] We usually have a list of questions that we go through and we've all made notes on
[00:00:44] them, but I don't think any of us made notes this time.
[00:00:46] So we may be kind of winging it.
[00:00:49] But we're also going to just discuss the movie as we come across these various questions.
[00:00:55] And you have heard these questions before if you've listened to the other podcast.
[00:00:59] But let's go ahead and get into it about Solo, right?
[00:01:02] That's right.
[00:01:03] Solo first.
[00:01:04] I think you have some facts, Mr. Fax.
[00:01:06] Let's do some numbers here.
[00:01:08] The official title is Solo colon a Star Wars story released May 10th, 2018.
[00:01:14] Not that long ago, like six years ago.
[00:01:17] Budget.
[00:01:18] I saw different figures somewhere between 275 and 300 million dollars they paid on
[00:01:24] this movie.
[00:01:25] Like most expensive movies ever made.
[00:01:27] That's because they had to probably because they started over halfway through.
[00:01:31] Yeah.
[00:01:32] Yeah.
[00:01:33] And its box office was 393.2 million.
[00:01:39] Widely held a flop, which we can get into.
[00:01:43] It was directed by Ron Howard after Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were fired.
[00:01:50] I think some of what they did ended up in the movie, right?
[00:01:52] I think the Coruscant chasing stuff in the beginning, I think is theirs maybe.
[00:01:57] Some of it.
[00:01:58] Who knows?
[00:02:01] It was just like every other Star Wars movie.
[00:02:04] It was nominated for best visual effects and it lost it.
[00:02:08] This time to First Man, which I think is that Neil Armstrong movie where Gosling
[00:02:13] was Neil Armstrong.
[00:02:14] Remember that?
[00:02:15] No, I do not.
[00:02:17] Gosling was Neil Armstrong.
[00:02:18] It's about him in the rocket.
[00:02:19] There's a rocket, you know, the right stuff.
[00:02:22] It's the First Man, First Man.
[00:02:26] There's a dog biting my ankle.
[00:02:28] It's your dog.
[00:02:29] Yeah.
[00:02:30] We can't get her to stop.
[00:02:33] So sorry.
[00:02:34] Enjoy that.
[00:02:35] That's what I got for facts, facts and figures.
[00:02:42] So the big question is what does this movie have that the other 10 don't have?
[00:02:51] Anybody else playing Han Solo?
[00:02:54] Is this like the biggest?
[00:02:55] Yeah, is this the only what do you call it?
[00:03:00] Recast in Star Wars?
[00:03:01] I don't know.
[00:03:02] Has there been any?
[00:03:03] I mean, like 12 people have been Vader, but they're using somebody different for
[00:03:07] Mon Mothma, right?
[00:03:09] Yeah, that's true.
[00:03:12] Like it's pretty I mean, but this is this was them really going for it and saying,
[00:03:15] let's make it with recast one of the main characters.
[00:03:20] Yeah.
[00:03:21] And I've ranted about this before on other episodes of this podcast about the public's
[00:03:27] perception and preconceived notions about this film.
[00:03:31] And, you know, there were so many things leaking while this film was in production
[00:03:36] about the directors, writers, directors being fired.
[00:03:41] And there were reports that they were having to really work with the guy that played
[00:03:45] solo and blah, blah, blah.
[00:03:47] So, of course, when the movie comes out, everybody's like, oh, it sucks.
[00:03:51] And the guy playing solo sucks and blah, blah, blah.
[00:03:55] And that's one of my things about places that always feel like they have to put
[00:04:01] that info out.
[00:04:02] Like, why does that info need to come out?
[00:04:05] We don't need to hear that shit before the movie's out.
[00:04:07] There's also a really long list of things working against this movie when it came
[00:04:11] out.
[00:04:12] It came out when Infinity War and Deadpool 2 were both still in the theater.
[00:04:17] Oh, wow.
[00:04:18] It came out like five months after The Last Jedi.
[00:04:22] And people were still like two thirds of us think was great.
[00:04:25] And one third of us is like that was the worst thing ever.
[00:04:27] They were real pissed off about it.
[00:04:29] Yeah.
[00:04:30] So it was like, oh, now another Star Wars and you have all this drama with all this
[00:04:34] other stuff.
[00:04:35] And at the time also, I mean, that same year, Lord and Miller won an Oscar
[00:04:39] for Into the Spider-Verse.
[00:04:41] Right.
[00:04:42] So at the same Oscars where this lost.
[00:04:45] So it was kind of like, oh, I bet it would have been good if you let them cook.
[00:04:49] Like that was a thing too.
[00:04:50] That was a...
[00:04:51] I was very curious and very excited when they were announced as the writer directors
[00:04:55] because I love the Lego movie.
[00:04:58] That shit was amazing.
[00:05:01] So I'm curious to see what their vision originally looked like.
[00:05:04] And like you said, some of it probably still is in there, you know, but how
[00:05:09] much of the other stuff?
[00:05:12] You'll never know.
[00:05:14] But yeah, what you were saying about the two actors.
[00:05:17] Don't.
[00:05:18] It struck me that what Donald Glover does is like not the same thing that Aldrich
[00:05:26] wrote his name.
[00:05:28] I can't pronounce his last name.
[00:05:30] But the guy playing...
[00:05:31] Alden Heimrich.
[00:05:32] That's not it.
[00:05:33] That's not how you pronounce his last name though.
[00:05:35] Him.
[00:05:36] O-A-H.
[00:05:37] Yeah.
[00:05:38] That's what I always call him.
[00:05:39] A-H.
[00:05:40] A-H.
[00:05:41] O-A-H.
[00:05:42] We went to school together.
[00:05:44] But...
[00:05:45] Keep going.
[00:05:46] I just lost my whole train of thought.
[00:05:49] Oh no.
[00:05:50] So what Donald Glover is doing is like almost an impression of...
[00:05:57] From the original movies.
[00:05:59] But he's like taking it and making his own.
[00:06:01] But he does, he puts enough inflections and little movements and stuff in there for
[00:06:06] you to be like, oh shit.
[00:06:07] Oh, that's just like Lando.
[00:06:08] Oh, that's just like Lando.
[00:06:09] I feel like he doesn't do it at all with Han.
[00:06:12] I feel like there's not a lot of times in this movie where I'm like, oh, that was just
[00:06:15] like Han Solo would have said it.
[00:06:18] He's kind of a different guy.
[00:06:20] He's still like a smarmy, he's a smuggler.
[00:06:23] He's got the right attitude.
[00:06:24] He just doesn't go for it in what maybe is more of a...
[00:06:30] Some would say it's a more hacked way of doing an impression of somebody.
[00:06:34] But I kind of want you to do an impression of Han Solo because Harrison Ford has got
[00:06:38] a very distinctive voice and very distinctive mannerisms.
[00:06:41] And you are going to have to ape some of those if you're going to play his character.
[00:06:45] I like this performance.
[00:06:47] I thought it did have hints of Harrison Ford in it.
[00:06:50] I'm thinking of one moment in particular when he...
[00:06:53] I don't know, he blinks or he nods his head in or something.
[00:06:59] It's got to care about the scene.
[00:07:03] Doesn't matter.
[00:07:04] I think he's got some of them, but I think his character is different from the one that
[00:07:09] Harrison Ford played because his spirit wasn't broken yet.
[00:07:13] I think this is the movie that breaks his spirit.
[00:07:17] So for him to be young and not exactly the cynical smuggler that we know and
[00:07:24] love, we get this guy who's in love with a girl and wants to save their relationship.
[00:07:32] Make the universe a better place.
[00:07:34] Right?
[00:07:35] Like...
[00:07:36] Yeah, you do.
[00:07:37] And I think I like this movie more every time I watch it.
[00:07:40] I agree completely.
[00:07:41] This time again, I was like, oh, this is great.
[00:07:43] I liked it from the get-go.
[00:07:44] Jim and I saw it in theaters the first time I saw it.
[00:07:49] I can't remember if I went back to see it again or not, but I've watched it
[00:07:52] a handful of times since it's been released on video at home or whatever.
[00:07:57] Whatever the streaming, I keep talking like an old man that used to work at a blockbuster
[00:08:01] or something.
[00:08:02] But it came out for rent.
[00:08:05] Yeah, not for buy.
[00:08:08] But yeah, I think it's a fun movie.
[00:08:11] Is it the best Star Wars movie?
[00:08:13] No, but they don't all have to be like...
[00:08:16] It was fun to see a young Han Solo and fun to see a young Lando.
[00:08:22] And fun to see a young Millennimo Falcon.
[00:08:25] And fun to see a young Millennimo Falcon.
[00:08:28] Do the Kessel Run, which we've heard about for years and years and years.
[00:08:33] You made that noise.
[00:08:36] TM.
[00:08:37] So yeah.
[00:08:38] Yes, TM.
[00:08:41] What's up next there?
[00:08:43] That's all of round one.
[00:08:45] Round two is lightning round.
[00:08:46] Do we do a commercial before we go to lightning round?
[00:08:48] I think we do a commercial.
[00:08:49] Sure, we can get a word in from our sponsors.
[00:08:51] Our helpful sponsors.
[00:08:52] Check it again.
[00:08:53] Check.
[00:09:00] Sunday, Sunday, Sunday.
[00:09:02] If you're on Tatooine, get your hut down to Mos Espa pod race circuit.
[00:09:07] We've got Subulba, Young Skywalker, pit droids, nonstop action.
[00:09:12] Will pesky Tusken Raiders murder your favorite pod racer?
[00:09:16] Will the Jedi cheat you out of your favorite slave?
[00:09:19] You'll find out this and more on Sunday, Sunday, Sunday.
[00:09:25] Pod race!
[00:09:27] All right, we back.
[00:09:28] We back.
[00:09:29] Welcome back.
[00:09:31] Second segment, lightning round, force lightning round.
[00:09:34] This is where my get icy for us.
[00:09:36] Force lightning round.
[00:09:37] Force lightning round.
[00:09:38] This is like the fifth one of these we've done.
[00:09:41] You just noticed that we call it the force lightning round?
[00:09:43] No, there's no force used in this movie.
[00:09:46] That's why I was saying there's force lightning round for a movie that has no
[00:09:49] force.
[00:09:50] Oh, the force is always there, Jim.
[00:09:54] It's around you.
[00:09:56] It's in everything.
[00:09:57] It flows through the universe.
[00:10:00] What's the best scene of this movie?
[00:10:03] Hmm.
[00:10:05] Best scene.
[00:10:06] So low.
[00:10:07] I think I'm going to go with robot uprising on Kessel where homegirl
[00:10:17] accidentally starts a riot and all the robots rebel and it causes a
[00:10:22] diversion for them to steal the coaxium.
[00:10:25] It's a good scene.
[00:10:26] I really like the train heist in the first half of the movie.
[00:10:31] Probably not the best scene, but one of my favorites is the end game
[00:10:35] of sabacc when Han shows up and realizes, you know, he goes to
[00:10:41] hug Lando and he realizes he's got the little thing in his shirt on
[00:10:47] his arm with the cards or whatever.
[00:10:49] So he wins it fair and square.
[00:10:50] Yeah.
[00:10:52] Yeah.
[00:10:53] As far as we can tell.
[00:10:56] Best line of this movie.
[00:10:58] I hate you.
[00:11:00] And then he says, I know.
[00:11:03] That's good.
[00:11:05] That's good.
[00:11:06] This is normally where we have some things, some notes made beforehand.
[00:11:11] I was prepared on that one.
[00:11:12] Jim was prepared.
[00:11:13] This is the only movie where they say I have a good feeling about
[00:11:17] this instead of have a bad feeling.
[00:11:20] You know, that's true.
[00:11:22] I don't know if that's the best line of the movie.
[00:11:24] This one's good from Han.
[00:11:27] He says, I heard his story about you.
[00:11:29] I was wondering if it's true and Lando says everything you've
[00:11:32] heard about me is true.
[00:11:33] That's true.
[00:11:36] That is a good line.
[00:11:37] Oh, what's the name of the of his droid?
[00:11:44] His copilot droid, the radical feminist droid.
[00:11:48] Oh shit.
[00:11:49] I always called her L3.
[00:11:51] L3.
[00:11:52] Yeah, like that's that's the abbreviation for it.
[00:11:56] Right?
[00:11:56] It's L337.
[00:11:57] That's right.
[00:11:58] Yeah.
[00:11:58] According to the IMDB.
[00:12:00] When she's breaking up that like droid fight and Clint Howard does
[00:12:06] his little cameo and he says I'm going to push your button and
[00:12:09] she says good luck finding it.
[00:12:10] That is a good line.
[00:12:12] That might be good.
[00:12:14] I did write that one down.
[00:12:17] That's good.
[00:12:21] Villain.
[00:12:21] Who's the villain of this movie?
[00:12:22] Dryden Voss.
[00:12:24] Dryden Voss.
[00:12:25] He's somebody that like you're just vision to me.
[00:12:29] I'm sorry.
[00:12:30] Like I know that he had he does other things, but he's that's
[00:12:35] Jarvis.
[00:12:35] It's too much for me.
[00:12:37] Well, it's supposed to be dude from The Wire that played Omar.
[00:12:42] Oh, and it was supposed to be pretty heavily animated too, which
[00:12:48] is why when they had to do the reshoots, there was no way they
[00:12:50] could redo all of it.
[00:12:52] I don't know if they started with him and then bailed.
[00:12:57] Yeah, they did.
[00:12:58] That would have been better.
[00:13:03] Best side character.
[00:13:06] I'd say L3.
[00:13:08] Yeah, she's in there very short amount of time.
[00:13:11] She's awesome.
[00:13:14] Was the little little fella that was voiced by Favreau.
[00:13:17] He was pretty cool.
[00:13:18] Oh, yeah.
[00:13:19] Oh his name like the six hands.
[00:13:22] Yeah part of the train heist.
[00:13:23] What the hell was his name?
[00:13:25] Rio Durant.
[00:13:27] There you go.
[00:13:28] Yeah.
[00:13:29] Yeah, he was cool.
[00:13:30] I like that character.
[00:13:31] I really like Woody Harrelson's character of Beckett.
[00:13:34] I mean, he needed somebody to teach Han all this stuff and he
[00:13:40] did a great job.
[00:13:41] Yeah, he was perfect for that role.
[00:13:43] I keep thinking about him wanting to play the Valacourt.
[00:13:53] Best city or planet.
[00:13:56] Best location really that we visit here.
[00:13:59] We go.
[00:14:00] I didn't write down all the planets I go to on this.
[00:14:02] I know we started Coruscant or not Coruscant.
[00:14:04] Corellia, right?
[00:14:05] And then where is the battle?
[00:14:08] Yeah, that's kind of unclear.
[00:14:10] They're on some planet where he defects right?
[00:14:13] And that's where he meets Chewie and he's in the infantry and
[00:14:16] he meets Chewie.
[00:14:17] Is that do they say what planet that is or is it still on
[00:14:20] Kashyyyk?
[00:14:21] I don't know if they say where that is.
[00:14:23] Yeah, I don't know.
[00:14:24] But then they leave that planet to go to the other planet
[00:14:27] to do the train heist.
[00:14:29] Right?
[00:14:30] Boy, we didn't write down the planets.
[00:14:33] We've clearly done our research.
[00:14:34] Tell you what, we'll come back in Seg 3 with the planets
[00:14:36] maybe.
[00:14:37] Maybe so train heist planet then the coaxium planet and
[00:14:44] then I'm guessing it's Tatooine that they end up on at
[00:14:47] the end and do the old refinery to stabilize the
[00:14:51] coaxium.
[00:14:51] No, they're going to Tatooine.
[00:14:53] That's not on Tatooine.
[00:14:54] The one where I try they go to Tatooine at the very
[00:14:56] very end.
[00:14:57] Well, they're headed there.
[00:14:58] Right?
[00:14:58] We don't see it.
[00:14:59] That's right because they heard about a high-paying
[00:15:02] job from one of the huts.
[00:15:03] How about a chubby guy wants to take a little chubby
[00:15:06] guy?
[00:15:12] Best ship.
[00:15:13] Mm hmm.
[00:15:14] My little more falcon more and more falcon, but I
[00:15:17] will say not my favorite version of it with the
[00:15:19] thing on the nose looks kind of silly all the
[00:15:22] toys that came out for this movie.
[00:15:23] There was like, oh special edition.
[00:15:25] It's got the extra.
[00:15:26] It's got the safety pod.
[00:15:28] It's got whatever.
[00:15:29] Yeah, Lando's boom-boom room on the front.
[00:15:34] He used that ship differently.
[00:15:37] Yes, sounds like a sponsor.
[00:15:39] That's why his that's why his ship was clean and
[00:15:43] Hans was not.
[00:15:44] Yes.
[00:15:45] Best chase.
[00:15:47] I will say the speeder chase in the beginning.
[00:15:51] I don't think that was very good.
[00:15:53] Oh, I liked it.
[00:15:54] It ends with him like flipping the car and that's
[00:15:56] cute and all that.
[00:15:56] But like, yeah, it looks it looks a lot like
[00:15:59] something you get on no Disney Plus show.
[00:16:01] Oh, maybe they had four dollars to reshoot that
[00:16:05] scene.
[00:16:05] Maybe so there's another.
[00:16:07] There's others that were much better.
[00:16:09] Well, the Kessel run the Kessel run.
[00:16:11] Yeah, I guess that's iconic.
[00:16:13] Yeah, it was cool to see that.
[00:16:15] So that's that to me is the best chase.
[00:16:20] Best fight scene.
[00:16:22] The end with Kira and Dryden boss fighting
[00:16:27] was pretty cool.
[00:16:27] That's pretty cool.
[00:16:29] Yeah, that's my answer might be the.
[00:16:31] I think the high scene also Chewbacca beating
[00:16:34] the shit out of Han and the jail in the beginning
[00:16:36] is pretty good, too.
[00:16:38] I got a question about that later.
[00:16:41] Best shot of the movie.
[00:16:42] I did write down a few of these because
[00:16:44] they did have some like gorgeous things in
[00:16:46] this movie.
[00:16:46] Yeah, that one shot where they're at the
[00:16:48] outside the Death Star, but you just see
[00:16:51] the Star Destroyer coming straight at you
[00:16:53] and it's like hitting different parts of it
[00:16:56] or lighting up as it comes around the
[00:16:57] planet.
[00:16:58] Yeah, it's like coming into the light.
[00:16:59] That was amazing looking.
[00:17:01] What else?
[00:17:04] There's a shot where they're I think they
[00:17:07] have just gotten back.
[00:17:08] They just did the Kessel run.
[00:17:09] They're on that like desert planet and
[00:17:10] they're walking into the village where it
[00:17:12] was just all the old ladies and there's
[00:17:14] like a shot in slow-mo where they're
[00:17:16] walking and like Chewbacca looks back at
[00:17:17] the camera kind of it was an it was
[00:17:19] like an old Western right?
[00:17:21] Like yeah, ghost town kind of vibes.
[00:17:22] Yeah.
[00:17:27] I wrote down other things.
[00:17:28] What else you got a shot that you like
[00:17:30] shots?
[00:17:30] Not that I can think of in particular.
[00:17:32] No.
[00:17:35] I should have made notes because
[00:17:37] I watched this one several weeks ago
[00:17:40] with us stay with us dear listener.
[00:17:43] We'll get through this together.
[00:17:46] Best outfit of the movie.
[00:17:48] It's got to be Lando's right?
[00:17:50] He looks pretty snazzy.
[00:17:51] Yeah, and basically everything he puts
[00:17:54] on.
[00:17:55] Yeah.
[00:17:55] Yeah, so they didn't do a Lando movie
[00:17:57] because this one flopped right?
[00:17:59] We're still talking about it.
[00:18:00] They're doing a Lando series now with
[00:18:03] Glover writing it.
[00:18:07] Supposedly supposedly allegedly allegedly.
[00:18:10] All right.
[00:18:11] I would watch the hell out of that
[00:18:13] if they ever do it.
[00:18:15] Best use of the force.
[00:18:16] There is no force in this movie.
[00:18:17] There's no Jedi's no no sif no
[00:18:21] nothing just bad guys.
[00:18:22] This is all about well you get that
[00:18:25] little bit of Darth Maul at the end
[00:18:28] Oh right.
[00:18:30] You don't use the force though.
[00:18:32] He uses his oh he does he picks up
[00:18:34] his he calls the saber.
[00:18:35] There you go.
[00:18:36] The only use of the force.
[00:18:37] Good job Darth Maul.
[00:18:39] You finally won something.
[00:18:46] And they can make a movie with
[00:18:46] Darth Maul now.
[00:18:47] I really wish they would.
[00:18:49] Yeah, and the Queen of Dragons
[00:18:51] isn't doing anything else.
[00:18:52] She can be back in it.
[00:18:53] I would love to see she's not
[00:18:55] busy a Crimson Dawn movie.
[00:18:57] Yeah.
[00:18:58] Yeah, that's this will get there.
[00:18:59] This is all about the criminal
[00:19:01] underworld.
[00:19:02] That's always like kind of in
[00:19:03] the background.
[00:19:03] So interesting.
[00:19:07] Is this movie is this movie woke?
[00:19:12] I don't know.
[00:19:13] I can't think of any.
[00:19:14] I'm sure there's some subversive
[00:19:18] meaning of something in there.
[00:19:21] I don't know.
[00:19:21] I don't think there's any like
[00:19:22] I don't think I don't think there
[00:19:24] is any bad bad accents or anything
[00:19:27] going on in here.
[00:19:28] Any there's a strong couple of
[00:19:31] strong female.
[00:19:32] I think that l3 their name.
[00:19:37] Like she makes it woke all in
[00:19:39] her room because she's feminist.
[00:19:41] Well, and the leader of what
[00:19:44] were they called?
[00:19:47] Infus Ness is a badass.
[00:19:50] She's a lady.
[00:19:52] Yeah.
[00:19:53] All right, ladies.
[00:19:56] How's the plot of this movie?
[00:19:59] Kind of felt like they just they
[00:20:00] were like we need to know how
[00:20:04] he gets the ship and we need
[00:20:06] to know how he makes this
[00:20:07] Kessel run like there I felt
[00:20:09] to me like they had like a
[00:20:10] they had to touch on those
[00:20:11] some of their like how does
[00:20:12] he meet you?
[00:20:12] He had is this how does this
[00:20:15] now let's write a story that
[00:20:16] all connect them with that
[00:20:18] stuff so it becomes like it's
[00:20:19] just like kind of a heist
[00:20:20] movie thing.
[00:20:21] It's we got to get this.
[00:20:22] It starts with a heist and
[00:20:24] then because that fails they
[00:20:26] have to pull off a bigger
[00:20:27] heist.
[00:20:27] Yeah, we have to steal a
[00:20:28] bigger MacGuffin and get it
[00:20:30] to the place in time.
[00:20:33] We don't have much time.
[00:20:35] That's fine.
[00:20:36] It was service.
[00:20:37] It was fan service.
[00:20:39] I wanted this movie.
[00:20:40] There was no and and a lot
[00:20:42] of the criticism with it
[00:20:43] was that it was answering
[00:20:45] questions that nobody ever
[00:20:46] had like nobody wanted to
[00:20:48] know why his last name was
[00:20:49] so low like that's just his
[00:20:50] name.
[00:20:51] Yeah, right.
[00:20:53] But it would have been a
[00:20:54] little disappointing if it
[00:20:55] was like Johnson.
[00:20:57] Well, yeah, I mean they
[00:20:58] didn't have to be like,
[00:20:59] oh, you're alone.
[00:21:01] I have no like nobody
[00:21:04] there's nobody wants to
[00:21:05] know why his name is
[00:21:05] Skywalker.
[00:21:07] It's the dumbest name
[00:21:08] ever.
[00:21:09] Skywalker.
[00:21:11] You heard me.
[00:21:14] What else anything else
[00:21:16] lightning round force
[00:21:16] lightning round last
[00:21:18] question is you can put
[00:21:19] one F bomb in this movie
[00:21:21] Cori Hanna.
[00:21:22] Where would you put it?
[00:21:25] Good question.
[00:21:25] I would maybe because
[00:21:27] I always have this one
[00:21:28] written now.
[00:21:30] I don't know.
[00:21:31] Give me a moment while
[00:21:32] he's looking I'm going to
[00:21:32] modify my my other line
[00:21:36] and say I fucking hate
[00:21:38] you because it's really
[00:21:40] what Lando was thinking.
[00:21:43] Yeah, you might be right
[00:21:44] on that one.
[00:21:45] I think Lando can have it.
[00:21:46] I don't know which line
[00:21:48] I'm going to put in.
[00:21:49] I think it would be Lando.
[00:21:51] How about at the end
[00:21:53] when when he loses
[00:21:54] his when he doesn't have
[00:21:56] the trick card up his
[00:21:57] sleeve right then fuck.
[00:21:59] Yeah, that's that's the
[00:22:00] place to put it.
[00:22:01] That's a good spot.
[00:22:03] All right.
[00:22:04] That's lightning round.
[00:22:05] We'll come back and
[00:22:05] get nerdy with it
[00:22:06] after a word from our
[00:22:07] sponsor sponsor sponsor
[00:22:10] sponsor sponsor.
[00:22:17] Hey, do you love jizz?
[00:22:19] Do you spend your
[00:22:20] afternoons in a cantina
[00:22:21] drinking blue milk and
[00:22:23] listening to jizz?
[00:22:24] Do you like Max Rebo
[00:22:26] the Galactic Jizz Whalers
[00:22:28] catch a speeder to
[00:22:29] Tatooine and take your
[00:22:31] lady to Jabba's Palace.
[00:22:32] Let some of our fresh
[00:22:34] hot jizz wash over you.
[00:22:38] Are we back?
[00:22:39] We back.
[00:22:40] Hi.
[00:22:43] What round are we in dog?
[00:22:44] Oh round three.
[00:22:45] Let's get nerdy with it.
[00:22:48] I want to start off with
[00:22:50] what this movie has in
[00:22:52] common with the 1990
[00:22:54] film Teenage Mutant Ninja
[00:22:55] Turtles Ninja Power.
[00:22:58] That would be an army
[00:23:00] of under an underground
[00:23:01] army of orphans doing
[00:23:04] petty crime for a gangster.
[00:23:08] Was the gangster in that
[00:23:09] movie also a big worm
[00:23:11] lady?
[00:23:13] It was the shredder.
[00:23:14] Oh, shredder.
[00:23:15] Okay.
[00:23:16] Yeah.
[00:23:17] Shredder was a little more
[00:23:18] like a rat, right?
[00:23:19] Little more intimidating.
[00:23:20] No, that was a splinter.
[00:23:22] The splinter.
[00:23:22] My bad.
[00:23:23] I don't be knowing the
[00:23:24] turtles.
[00:23:25] Now you're fired.
[00:23:26] Unbelievable.
[00:23:29] The lady proxima.
[00:23:30] My big question to start
[00:23:31] this off.
[00:23:33] When they say feed him
[00:23:35] to the beast.
[00:23:36] We have he's going to be
[00:23:37] so hungry we haven't fed
[00:23:38] him in two days and then
[00:23:39] they throw Han Solo into
[00:23:40] a cage and we meet Chewbacca.
[00:23:43] Has Chewbacca been eating
[00:23:45] prisoners?
[00:23:46] 100%.
[00:23:47] He's been down there
[00:23:48] eating human beings.
[00:23:50] He almost remember he
[00:23:51] was eating Porgs and
[00:23:52] last Jedi.
[00:23:53] He don't give a shit.
[00:23:54] He is a carnivore.
[00:23:55] Porgs look delicious though.
[00:23:56] They do look like little
[00:23:57] dumb chickens.
[00:23:58] Yeah.
[00:24:00] So he was eating people.
[00:24:01] Oh, yeah.
[00:24:02] Cannon.
[00:24:04] What else do we want to
[00:24:05] talk about?
[00:24:08] The music that plays on
[00:24:09] the on the yacht.
[00:24:11] Dryden Voss's yacht,
[00:24:12] which is a cool ship.
[00:24:13] Maybe that should have
[00:24:14] been the best ship since I
[00:24:15] don't like the million
[00:24:16] fucker. I'm going with the
[00:24:16] yacht.
[00:24:17] There you go.
[00:24:17] Revising my earlier
[00:24:19] statement.
[00:24:19] That ain't no yacht though.
[00:24:21] It's cool.
[00:24:21] It's like it just sits
[00:24:23] there and floats.
[00:24:24] It's cool.
[00:24:25] But it's also got a
[00:24:25] hyperdrive.
[00:24:26] Yeah.
[00:24:28] And a really big
[00:24:28] elevator.
[00:24:31] But that was Jizz.
[00:24:33] That was Jizz.
[00:24:34] He gets to the party.
[00:24:35] He's like don't trust
[00:24:36] anybody.
[00:24:36] Jizz.
[00:24:37] Don't trust a Jizz.
[00:24:39] You can't trust anybody
[00:24:40] that loves Jizz this much.
[00:24:41] You can't trust them.
[00:24:42] Just can't trust them.
[00:24:46] Any other little questions?
[00:24:47] I have something that I'd
[00:24:48] like to
[00:24:50] submit.
[00:24:52] Order 77.
[00:24:54] I thought we covered this.
[00:24:56] Which is
[00:24:58] if this character isn't in
[00:24:59] a new hope,
[00:25:00] then they die.
[00:25:02] This movie follows
[00:25:03] that rule.
[00:25:04] They're like hey you like
[00:25:05] this guy John Faber does
[00:25:06] the voice he's dead.
[00:25:08] You'll never see him again.
[00:25:09] Like this lady look at
[00:25:10] there like a couple in
[00:25:11] their rocket train.
[00:25:12] Oh she's dead.
[00:25:13] She's not in a new hope.
[00:25:14] You don't want to.
[00:25:14] Oh where is she?
[00:25:15] She went nowhere.
[00:25:16] She's dead.
[00:25:17] Then Woody Harrelson.
[00:25:18] Woody Harrelson.
[00:25:19] Pretty cool character.
[00:25:19] He's dead.
[00:25:20] Dead.
[00:25:20] What about this Dry and Voss
[00:25:21] guy?
[00:25:22] Pretty big character.
[00:25:22] He's dead.
[00:25:23] Dead.
[00:25:24] And then of course
[00:25:26] we'll talk next time about
[00:25:27] Rogue One.
[00:25:28] Everyone in the movie
[00:25:29] dead.
[00:25:29] Dead.
[00:25:30] Dead.
[00:25:31] Darth Maul's character.
[00:25:33] Darth Maul?
[00:25:33] Still out there.
[00:25:34] No.
[00:25:34] Well before
[00:25:36] a new hope he's dead.
[00:25:38] Right because he tracks
[00:25:39] down Kenobi.
[00:25:40] Yes because Kenobi
[00:25:41] kills him.
[00:25:41] Yep.
[00:25:42] Yep.
[00:25:43] But that takes place
[00:25:44] after
[00:25:46] the Kenobi live action
[00:25:47] show.
[00:25:49] Right?
[00:25:49] Yes.
[00:25:50] Yeah because he's been
[00:25:50] camped out there for a minute.
[00:25:51] So we're never going to
[00:25:53] get a second season of that
[00:25:54] because they already covered
[00:25:55] the most important
[00:25:56] arc in Clone Wars
[00:25:58] or Rebels or whatever it was.
[00:26:00] Rebels.
[00:26:00] Unless they're just like
[00:26:01] let's do it again in
[00:26:02] live action like they did
[00:26:03] with cutting half of Vader's
[00:26:05] thing off.
[00:26:06] That's true.
[00:26:06] That was cool.
[00:26:07] Let's do it again.
[00:26:08] That's true.
[00:26:10] I don't think we should have done it.
[00:26:10] I ain't mad at it.
[00:26:11] It was cooler the first time.
[00:26:14] He mad.
[00:26:16] What else?
[00:26:17] Nardy stuff.
[00:26:20] Then went the dogs.
[00:26:21] I found my list of
[00:26:23] of fan service.
[00:26:26] That was just like the punch list.
[00:26:28] I should have brought up earlier
[00:26:29] but
[00:26:31] yeah like the climax happens.
[00:26:32] Everything's fine.
[00:26:33] Let's go see Java
[00:26:35] and they're like
[00:26:35] and then you're like
[00:26:36] oh Java that's cool
[00:26:37] and then they're like
[00:26:38] oh yeah Han
[00:26:40] shot that guy first
[00:26:41] remember Han shoots first
[00:26:42] so he shot the guy first
[00:26:44] and then he's like
[00:26:44] now I got to go
[00:26:45] find Lando
[00:26:46] and play cards
[00:26:47] and win my ship
[00:26:48] so I won my ship
[00:26:48] and I'm going to go see Java
[00:26:50] go see Java.
[00:26:52] Who's that over there?
[00:26:52] Darth Maul.
[00:26:54] Like the for the last
[00:26:55] like 15 minutes of this movie
[00:26:56] they're just like look
[00:26:57] here what else do you want?
[00:26:58] What else do you want?
[00:27:00] I loved it.
[00:27:01] Oh I love that.
[00:27:01] I'm just saying.
[00:27:03] I'm not mad about fan service.
[00:27:05] I'm a fan.
[00:27:07] And you have been serviced
[00:27:08] while listening to Jizz.
[00:27:10] I accept it.
[00:27:12] This is the first
[00:27:13] Star Wars film
[00:27:14] in official canon
[00:27:16] where nobody speaks the word
[00:27:17] Jedi.
[00:27:20] Interesting.
[00:27:20] From the IMDB trivia
[00:27:22] and it's also the first movie
[00:27:25] that someone else speaks
[00:27:26] Wookie.
[00:27:27] Hey that was the next thing
[00:27:29] on the
[00:27:30] I had this shit pulled up
[00:27:31] before you did.
[00:27:31] You a motherfucker.
[00:27:35] You really didn't like the
[00:27:36] escape pod on the Millennium
[00:27:37] Falcon?
[00:27:38] No.
[00:27:39] Was it because it was
[00:27:40] different or just
[00:27:41] yeah.
[00:27:42] Okay.
[00:27:42] I just want the regular
[00:27:43] Millennium Falcon.
[00:27:45] But you got it by the end
[00:27:46] of it though.
[00:27:47] Yeah.
[00:27:47] And did the
[00:27:49] radar dish fall off
[00:27:50] at the very end?
[00:27:51] Like when Lando
[00:27:53] takes off
[00:27:54] right in the middle
[00:27:56] I can't remember if it
[00:27:56] falls off there
[00:27:57] or in another scene.
[00:27:58] I thought it got knocked off
[00:27:59] when they were in the
[00:27:59] Maelstrom.
[00:28:01] That may have been it.
[00:28:01] Maelstrom.
[00:28:03] Which to me I felt like
[00:28:04] was not
[00:28:06] the toys
[00:28:07] because we all lost
[00:28:08] those of us that got to
[00:28:09] play with one.
[00:28:10] I never saw a Millennium
[00:28:12] Falcon toy
[00:28:13] in the wild as a kid
[00:28:15] that had the radar dish
[00:28:16] on it.
[00:28:17] It also had Woody
[00:28:18] Harrelson's character
[00:28:19] trying to work the gun
[00:28:20] and then he got off
[00:28:21] and he was like
[00:28:22] it hurt my thumbs
[00:28:23] really bad.
[00:28:26] I appreciate them going
[00:28:27] back and pointing out
[00:28:28] like we know this is
[00:28:30] silly.
[00:28:30] Look at this.
[00:28:30] Right.
[00:28:31] That hurts your thumbs.
[00:28:33] There's also two
[00:28:34] callbacks in this movie
[00:28:36] about
[00:28:37] you know the
[00:28:37] drag them into the
[00:28:39] closet and come out
[00:28:40] wearing their uniform
[00:28:41] thing that they do
[00:28:42] over and over again.
[00:28:43] Like they do that a
[00:28:44] couple times in this movie
[00:28:45] like when we first
[00:28:46] meet Woody he's wearing
[00:28:47] somebody else's but
[00:28:48] this is the first time
[00:28:48] where it's got
[00:28:49] bullet holes.
[00:28:50] Right.
[00:28:50] Right.
[00:28:51] You're like oh
[00:28:51] that's how you really
[00:28:52] get to my
[00:28:52] you know where I'm just
[00:28:53] kill them.
[00:28:54] It's not all cute
[00:28:55] like bonk them on the
[00:28:56] head and drag them away.
[00:28:58] And then
[00:28:59] when a person just
[00:29:00] stays in a closet
[00:29:01] forever never looking
[00:29:02] for their real clothes.
[00:29:03] Yeah.
[00:29:03] It's like I live here
[00:29:04] now in my
[00:29:05] tighty whiteys
[00:29:06] and my little white.
[00:29:07] Sure is cold in here.
[00:29:08] And we do see
[00:29:11] Chewbacca pull that
[00:29:12] dude's arms off
[00:29:14] when they're trying
[00:29:14] to steal those
[00:29:15] uniforms.
[00:29:15] That's true.
[00:29:16] So that's pretty funny.
[00:29:19] What else?
[00:29:20] I have one more big
[00:29:21] theory.
[00:29:22] Go roll.
[00:29:25] So L3
[00:29:28] she's almost killed
[00:29:29] so they upload her
[00:29:31] consciousness into the
[00:29:32] Falcon.
[00:29:33] So now the Falcon
[00:29:34] has this amazing
[00:29:37] navigational system
[00:29:38] because it's her.
[00:29:40] Living in there.
[00:29:40] So they have canonized
[00:29:41] that actually the
[00:29:42] Millennium Falcon
[00:29:43] this whole time
[00:29:45] has been like a
[00:29:46] sassy lady.
[00:29:48] So she's a sassy lady
[00:29:49] and I can see where
[00:29:50] that would upset people
[00:29:51] and I think
[00:29:53] I don't know why
[00:29:55] because they
[00:29:56] I'm talking about
[00:29:57] the people we hate
[00:29:59] get upset that Ray
[00:30:00] has a lightsaber
[00:30:01] people that are just
[00:30:02] whatever.
[00:30:02] They're sensitive.
[00:30:03] Those people
[00:30:04] and so I think
[00:30:05] they are sensitive.
[00:30:06] My prediction for this
[00:30:07] kind of like a
[00:30:08] snowflake
[00:30:09] kind of like that.
[00:30:10] So I think if Trump
[00:30:11] wins in November
[00:30:16] if Trump wins,
[00:30:17] I think Disney
[00:30:19] is going to
[00:30:20] put out a Lando
[00:30:21] show and they're going
[00:30:22] to make it canon
[00:30:23] that he and
[00:30:25] Han Solo had a
[00:30:26] sexual relationship.
[00:30:29] Just to just to be
[00:30:30] Disney just to
[00:30:31] just to put some
[00:30:32] just to
[00:30:33] spread more
[00:30:34] woke on the people
[00:30:35] that hate it.
[00:30:36] The unknown
[00:30:37] the unknown marriage
[00:30:38] of Han and Lando.
[00:30:39] Yeah.
[00:30:40] Yeah.
[00:30:43] Unrequited love.
[00:30:43] And I'm here for it.
[00:30:44] Fucking liberals.
[00:30:46] Yeah.
[00:30:47] Force in your agenda.
[00:30:48] See the force.
[00:30:50] You just said force.
[00:30:52] All right.
[00:30:57] That's literally all.
[00:30:58] I like this movie.
[00:30:59] I mean we can just talk about
[00:31:00] over.
[00:31:00] I do too.
[00:31:01] I mean it's
[00:31:02] it is interesting
[00:31:04] to think about
[00:31:05] what could have been
[00:31:06] you know
[00:31:08] if Lord
[00:31:09] Miller had finished their
[00:31:10] version,
[00:31:10] but I like this movie
[00:31:12] when I saw it in the
[00:31:13] theater and I actually
[00:31:13] enjoy it more
[00:31:15] each time I watch it.
[00:31:17] It's fun
[00:31:18] and
[00:31:19] and entertaining
[00:31:19] and short
[00:31:20] and
[00:31:21] it's a good Star Wars
[00:31:22] movie.
[00:31:23] I don't know where I would
[00:31:23] put it on the list of 12.
[00:31:26] I remember when I walked
[00:31:27] out of the theater.
[00:31:28] I remember specifically
[00:31:29] thinking like
[00:31:30] that was good
[00:31:31] but like unnecessary
[00:31:33] like I didn't need
[00:31:34] that.
[00:31:34] But fine.
[00:31:35] But now as time has
[00:31:36] gone on and I've
[00:31:36] watched that my oh
[00:31:38] no, that's terrific.
[00:31:39] Like I'm glad that
[00:31:40] we have it like Ghost
[00:31:41] Busters 2.
[00:31:42] I'm glad it's there.
[00:31:43] I used to be like
[00:31:43] huh who cares?
[00:31:44] But now I'm like
[00:31:45] yeah, I'm glad to
[00:31:45] have it.
[00:31:46] Would we consider
[00:31:47] this
[00:31:50] that this may have been
[00:31:51] a better TV show
[00:31:53] because this was
[00:31:54] the performance of
[00:31:55] this movie is why they
[00:31:56] stopped the Obi-Wan
[00:31:57] movie and stopped
[00:31:58] the Boba Fett movie
[00:32:00] right and pivoted them
[00:32:02] to the streaming platform
[00:32:04] and
[00:32:05] you've heard me
[00:32:05] complain a lot about
[00:32:07] especially Obi-Wan's
[00:32:08] series that felt like
[00:32:10] a movie chopped into
[00:32:11] eight pieces.
[00:32:12] Right.
[00:32:12] Would this have been
[00:32:14] better
[00:32:15] as a movie?
[00:32:16] I mean as a TV series.
[00:32:18] I don't think so.
[00:32:19] I think it's the
[00:32:20] right length,
[00:32:20] you know, we didn't
[00:32:21] need more of that
[00:32:22] story than what we got.
[00:32:23] If it had been
[00:32:25] I think most of
[00:32:27] the series should have
[00:32:27] been Lando and Han
[00:32:29] on high jinx.
[00:32:30] Yeah.
[00:32:31] Pulling jobs and shit.
[00:32:32] Sure.
[00:32:32] Yeah.
[00:32:33] Give me that.
[00:32:34] I would watch that
[00:32:35] and if I hope
[00:32:37] that after I just said
[00:32:38] we didn't need any more
[00:32:39] of that story than what
[00:32:40] we got.
[00:32:41] I hope that
[00:32:43] Glover brings back
[00:32:45] Alden
[00:32:46] not Heinrich
[00:32:49] in his series
[00:32:50] because I would love
[00:32:51] to see more of
[00:32:52] the younger version of
[00:32:53] Han.
[00:32:55] Has that guy been in
[00:32:55] a movie since this?
[00:32:56] Did this ruin him?
[00:32:57] No, he was in
[00:32:58] he was in
[00:33:00] Cocaine Bear.
[00:33:02] Every movie we watched
[00:33:03] in this now were like
[00:33:04] and then that guy never
[00:33:05] acted again because we
[00:33:06] ruined his life.
[00:33:07] Anyway, next one.
[00:33:10] He was in Oppenheimer.
[00:33:12] Oh.
[00:33:14] He was in Cocaine Bear.
[00:33:16] Which I have not seen.
[00:33:18] And
[00:33:21] oh he's in Ironheart.
[00:33:25] That's already made.
[00:33:27] It is in post-production.
[00:33:28] No.
[00:33:31] I've fallen so out of
[00:33:33] sync with the MCU.
[00:33:34] Me too.
[00:33:35] They've lost me.
[00:33:36] I want them to bring me back.
[00:33:40] So that's what Deadpool
[00:33:41] 3 is for.
[00:33:43] Yeah, I'm trying not to get
[00:33:44] my hopes up too high.
[00:33:47] I'm excited about it,
[00:33:48] but I don't want to go
[00:33:49] in overly excited.
[00:33:52] Yep.
[00:33:52] I'm trying not to see
[00:33:54] every single thing about
[00:33:55] the movie before it comes
[00:33:56] out because
[00:33:57] I feel like nothing's going
[00:33:58] to be surprising anymore.
[00:34:00] Is that all we got then
[00:34:01] for Solo?
[00:34:02] I think so.
[00:34:03] I think that's it.
[00:34:04] Yeah.
[00:34:04] Yeah, y'all stop fucking
[00:34:05] hating and just enjoy it.
[00:34:07] That's my thoughts.
[00:34:09] What Corey said.
[00:34:12] I guess if y'all don't have
[00:34:13] anything,
[00:34:15] Avi's done with the show.
[00:34:17] Avocado clearly has something
[00:34:18] to say.
[00:34:19] Yeah.
[00:34:21] We never ask the dogs
[00:34:22] what they think about any of this.
[00:34:23] Avi got opinions.
[00:34:24] Avocado, what do you think
[00:34:25] about Solo,
[00:34:26] a Star Wars story?
[00:34:28] Yeah.
[00:34:30] What else?
[00:34:30] That's it.
[00:34:31] That's all I have to say
[00:34:32] about that.
[00:34:33] Everybody's a critic.
[00:34:34] All right.
[00:34:34] Well, y'all follow us on
[00:34:36] Instagram and threads
[00:34:37] at WeAreAStarWar
[00:34:39] and also
[00:34:41] follow...
[00:34:43] I just got a text from
[00:34:44] my wife about my dog.
[00:34:46] Sorry.
[00:34:48] Follow The Alabama Take
[00:34:50] on all social media outlets.
[00:34:51] That's our network of fellow

[00:34:54] keep up with everything
[00:34:55] that's happening at
[00:34:56] thealabamatake.com
[00:34:57] and go to T Public

[00:35:00] the Alabama Take store
[00:35:01] and you can find
[00:35:03] our buttholes
[00:35:03] our buttholes on a t-shirt
[00:35:05] and
[00:35:06] the hoodie
[00:35:07] and stickers
[00:35:08] and apparently they have
[00:35:10] some badass mouse pads.
[00:35:11] Mouse pads.
[00:35:13] Big time.
[00:35:13] I've been told that
[00:35:14] somebody has a bunch of
[00:35:15] mouse pads.
[00:35:17] But yeah,
[00:35:17] follow us on all that stuff
[00:35:18] and tell a friend about us
[00:35:20] if you like us
[00:35:21] and we will talk to y'all
[00:35:23] next time.
[00:35:24] May the force be with you.
[00:35:25] Peace.
[00:35:30] Yeah.
