[00:01:03] FAKE TOUR READ

[00:02:03] I don't know if I loved the last episode, like it was a little...maybe a little too much for me. Too much what? But I don't know. Clip Hangery? Is that sentimental? Does that make sense?

[00:02:37] It was just like something about them all sitting around and like, here's why I love cooking. That I was like, okay, the subtext has become text. You didn't appreciate the wrap up with the very wonderful 90s James song? I did love that. I loved that song.

[00:02:56] What a great 90s song. And this may not be for everyone, but the pains of being pure at heart covered it. And it's actually... Oh really? It was awesome. Dude, I've been listening to that song a lot since that finale. Like just screaming the lyrics.

[00:03:09] And that drum beat, Adam, come in here with this. That drum...that...what do you call it where he's just going off on the snare for the chorus? I don't know what you'd call that. We need a drummer on the program. Technical term. Just a drum.

[00:03:23] It's not a drummer. It's not a do-do-do-do kind of thing. Yeah, but it's like a very extended one. I don't know. It just pumps me up. It worked. But as always, appreciate Olivia Coleman and literally anything she's known for. She's beautiful. She's great. What a soul. She's great.

[00:03:42] What a good charisma to the...to every performance she has. And she's such a motherly figure in this role. I love it. I did like the...maybe it's the...you know, basically the thing between Joel McHale's

[00:03:55] character, you know, who basically ruined Carm's life and the obvious contrast there between Olivia Colton's character. So I did enjoy that. But also which one has Carm turned out to be? That's a good point. Well, I have my own thoughts. You know what?

[00:04:14] Like this last episode kind of felt like a little bit more in focus, a little bit...you know, it flashed the 2B continued and I enjoyed what came before, right? I really liked Tina's story.

[00:04:24] I did...I enjoyed actually Jamie Lee Curtis coming back because they...I think I said it when we talked about it but just...they just do such a good job of making it seem...you know, what it's like to be in a room with a crazy person.

[00:04:37] We're all in on Tina's story but Adam is not in favor of the Jamie Lee Curtis episode. I think the Tina episode was the best one of the season. I felt that that would be true when I watched it and then as I finished the season, that

[00:04:53] came to be correct. I just think that...and I know it's the role that has been written and she's performing it well but Jamie Lee Curtis is...you know, sometimes you watch a musician play and

[00:05:06] other musicians will laugh and say, huh, they're getting paid by the note tonight. And I feel like she is acting in that way. With capital A acting? Yeah. I just...I don't...I know that that's the role and I know that there are matriarchs out there

[00:05:23] who do this to their families and that this is real but it's just like that...that episode, I was just kind of looking at my phone the whole time. I hate to say it. And I do not really love the holiday episode from season two either. Okay.

[00:05:40] I think that's fair. I know that that puts me in big time minority of people who watch this show and I understand why people love it. It's just, stylistically, it is not my favorite flex that this team does.

[00:05:56] She gives me anxiety in that role and that's obviously the point. Yeah. That's why I think it's good. Yeah. It might just like a lot of people who will watch the first episode say, I can't make it any further. I can't make it any further.

[00:06:11] I can't make it any further. I can't make it any further. I don't want to be too much anxiety and of course the three of us are like, well then you know that's the point. It's the pressure hooker of that situation.

[00:06:16] I do think just speaking specifically about the final episode, this showed to me when it first started getting buzzed in season one, I remember telling a few people about it and they're like yeah I've heard about it but I'm...you know we went

[00:06:32] through that Anthony Bourdain and I mean I love Bourdain and I think that he rose above this but there was like 10 or 15 years where cooks were rock stars. You know that became a trope almost and it seemed like society kind of moved past that

[00:06:50] and realized that hey maybe reinforcing a lot of actual negative behavior from mostly white men is not a great thing. And the show when it started to me was not doing...the people that I talked to had hesitation about like why are we returning to chef worship.

[00:07:09] That feels very outdated and I said it's not that at all. This is like a deconstruction of that in some ways or flipping it on its head and it was weird because season three just became that final episode of like why cooking...you

[00:07:24] know apologetics for food in a way. Yeah. And it was very strange to see. I think it didn't need it. For me. No, it didn't need it at all. I'm sold. It did feel like a season that was recorded filmed back to back with the season that's

[00:07:42] going to follow it. Hopefully so. I honestly feel like that final episode with the...atom that's a great word, apologetics. I got that with Mikey, Mikey's character in Tina's episode. That was about to say that is sure on TV at this point. They already did it.

[00:08:02] That was good. That was good. Of course the show may also be consciously making the statement that those two goofballs way back then innately understood the value of what a restaurant can be and what food can be and did it without sticking their head up their own ass.

[00:08:21] Yeah, that's true. That could...yeah. All right. Good final thoughts there on the bear season. We'll see more of it next summer I imagine. Okay, we did it once before. Very special guest here.

[00:08:36] Six year old, almost seven years old coming in hot with a review of a movie now streaming on Paramount Plus. What movie are you going to talk about? If...I love this movie because it has a very interesting story.

[00:08:56] Sometimes there are sad parts when most of it is happy. So it's about this girl who can see other imaginary friends and then she figures out that her... Wait, we don't want to spoil anything.

[00:09:14] Is that like...is that as much as you would need to tell anyone right now? You don't want to give away the ending or anything. So okay, so spoiler warning going forward if you have seen it, this is going to be fine.

[00:09:26] This is a little bit of a more in-depth review. So there's this ending where they think...so her mom already died and they think their dad is going to die but he's alive. That's kind of giveaway. That's the sad part? Yes, that's the sad part. Yeah.

[00:09:50] Did you find it to be sad? No, because I've watched it before but there's also like a jump scare in there. When we first watched the movie, I like jumped for a second. Which imaginary friend was your favorite in the movie?

[00:10:13] My favorite was the pink...the pink echo I think. Oh, that's right. Yes, the pink...very good. Do you recommend this to others to watch? Yes, but if you like sad...if you like kind of sad endings, don't like sad endings then

[00:10:39] maybe this movie is not for you. Okay, alright. Thank you. You want to say goodbye? Bye-bye! Thanks to our special guest. Thanks to Adam and Donovan and for Adam and Donovan. That's it for this week. We won't be back until August 20th. That's Tuesday.

[00:10:56] Follow our normal pattern into that where we will release once a week every Tuesday. In the meantime, you can always go back and listen to episodes that you missed or need to catch up on. And we'll talk to you very soon. See ya. Bye.
